I no longer watch any mass-market sports, neither the American versions nor the international favorites (nor the Olympics) because I find the media saturation, the obvious corporate interests, the lefty politics, and the vapidity of the athletes to be unbearable. The entire culture surrounding professional sports has degraded in a way I find it difficult even to describe, and I want no part of it. I am certainly not anti-sport, but I refuse to feed this beast any further.
I will still occasionally watch some non-hyped sports. A few months ago I watched the World Snooker Championships on youtube. It was low-key and quite interesting. Snooker is actually a very strategic and engaging game.
