Too big of a coincidence it's a Malaysian plane I think. Maybe a bomb in it's cargo compartment ? The jets on 9/11 hit and 400 - 500 knots. Setting that aside, there were bodies recovered in the 9/11 crashes.

In any event it was an obvious mistake. Alle three sides in that conflict could have done it. Apparently the rebels had claimed on a site of theirs that they had shot down a transport machine. When the news hit of a missing passenger liner, the claim quickly dissapeared. Even then it's not evidence the rebels actually did down the machine. I'm not in the position to place the blame anywhere.

My trouble with the narrative is this... whoever fired the missile was trained. TELAR SAMs are not shoulder-fired "al qaeda-proof" idiot weapons. The same person that would have that training would also likely know that an aircraft traveling at 33,000 feet within an established air cooridor at 350-400 knots is likely civilian. Military craft tend to fly lower and faster.

And, in fact, Russian state media reported in late June indicate the rebels got a hold of a Buk missile system, a Russian/Soviet surface to air system. Rebels are now denying that they shot down the plane, but there are now screenshots floating around the Russian-language internet from what seems to be the Facebook page of Igor Strelkov, a rebel leader in eastern Ukraine, showing plumes of smoke and bragging about shooting down a Ukrainian military Antonov plane shortly before MaH 17 fell. "Don't fly in our skies," he reportedly wrote. If that's true, it would seem rebels downed the jetliner, having mistaken it for a Ukrainian military jet.
This all has to be confirmed, though the separatists did issue statements saying they downed an Antonov this morning and took five of its crew members hostage.

I don’t want to skew the presumptions here, but as I understand it the Russians in Russia had Russian missiles made in Russia by Russians who live in Russia. In as much as Russia is Russian and Russian is the language of Russia; and Russia is located next to the Russian border near where Russians live and there have recently been issues between Russia and the US, I am not willing to infer that Russia is involved in any way possible: so here is my question.

From what I've seen in the the media so far the cause of the crash is still uncertain. If it was shot down that pretty well means the fact the plane was Malaysian was but a strange coincidence. If it wasn't shot down ... then maybe it's tied in with the disappearance of flight 370.

I can't say I am surprised that a world shattering news event would take place in Ukraine, just at the moment the Kiev armies are being badly beaten up. Some units are trapped and trying to fight their way out in the south. Yesterday was a disaster for Kiev militarily. So when I woke up to this news it did not shock me. What did shock me is how many innocent people have just died for a political reason. I can't pretend to know how this has happened or even how it will play out. I have suspicions, strong suspicions based on the old idea of looking at a freak event in the light of "Who benefits by it". In the past, this way of looking at events has often pointed in the right direction. No doubt the Pro Rebel and Pro Kiev sides are all over the internet tearing each other to pieces. And Washington now has a pretext for sanctions that yesterday it did not.
I can predict this, as can most ZH readers. Washington claim proof Russia or the Rebels did it, even though neither of them has anything in the world to profit by it. For them it would be a simple act of madness and suicide to have done this on purpose. On Kiev's part, with armies defeated on three fronts, with Russian aid pouring across to the rebels, with rebel forces and heavy weapons tearing the southern Kiev units to pieces, as was expressed by a Ukrainian combat soldier two days ago on Kiev television call in interview from the battle field.
You will not catch me claiming Kiev did this. Nor saying the rebels could not have. I will wait for facts. But this happened on Russia's border, all the radars of Russian military and all the intelligence electronics are aimed at this airspace. Russia's military knows what happened, and most likley the USA also knows proof positive what has happened. Best watch how they both release information and see if we can detect who trys to pin the fault and how they attempt it.
Here is a clue, first thing this morning there was an international call for an immediate cease fire due to this disaster. A cease fire now would allow the entire Ukrainian army to withdraw from their disasterous positions with no more rebel attacks. Saved from their disaster, they could use the cease fire to regroup and resupply and prepare a new larger offensive without making the same mistakes as this offensive. So then, how big of a benefit would Kiev get from the rescue of their armies?? I would say this "Perfect timing for a cease fire when you are bing handed your ass and you have an entire army trapped".
One last thought. Who in the fuck is responsible at that airline for routing a civilian passanger jet over a battle field in which many aircraft have been shot down with missiles? Who on earth could be so fucking criminally insane? Malaysian Airlines? Who in the fuck would get on one of their planes now? Criminal stupidity in both cases of lost airplanes.

Don't feel badly, The only injuries were some stubbed toes and maybe some eyeliner poked accidentily into the eyes of the crisis actors during make-up.

Just checking the battle field over the last 24 hours. Kiev's forces continue to suffer a huge defeat. Just because the media refuses to report it does not mean hundreds of people on the ground have not been reporting the battles. Kiev has used it's forces very badly. So badly that Russia is taking in wounded Kiev fighters in the Rostov hospitals. 16 yesterday alone. As for their armored units, in the south they have be so badly beaten up, it will take weeks to know the numbers.
This Airliner incident is awful enough to get Kiev the cease fire it needs to save thousands of troops from death or capture. That is why I do suspect Kiev of anything at this point. I will not say they did it, unlike Washington and the State Department who will lie for political reasons. I will wait for facts.

The Ukranian military said they lost an AN26 in the same area, while the rebels were found to have fired two rockets. The rockets were fired from the BukM1 AA system. The first hit the AN26, while the second went hunting for a new target, which happened to be the Malaysian airliner.
The rebel leader claimed on his twitter account, even showing pics of what turned out to be the downed civilian airliner, of what he thought was the Ukranian transport plane. He later took down this tweet (for Anyone who speaks Russian) once he realized he was showing the downed Malaysian jet:

The BukM1?s were not setup for IFF. The rebels had them setup to hunt any target in range.

This is a case of some idiots firing a weapons system they had no idea how to operate, at a Ukranian transport plane, that inadvertently also destroyed a civilian plane in the process.

Yeah, I concur not a little Langley mistake like I suggested earlier.
Maybe the weapon functioned a bit better than those Cossacks expected for or indeed a little Cossack setup mistake “any target in range”.
