Ukraine Rebels Find Black Box, Multiple Airlines Halt Routes Over Ukraine: Full MH 17 Update

Tyler Durden's picture

The plot thickens. Moments ago, after Ukraine emergency services complained the crash probe was being hampered by separatists, it is these same "rebels" that appear to have found a key piece of the puzzle.

  • PRO-RUSSIAN SEPARATISTS IN EASTERN UKRAINE SAY THEY HAVE FOUND "BLACK BOX" FLIGHT RECORDER OF DOWNED MALAYSIAN AIRLINER - INTERFAX

The question now is simple: what happens to the black box next, and perhaps more importantly - why anyone thinks a black box will have any information on who shot the missile that allegedly took down flight MH 17.

Here are the other notable updates in the past hour from Bloomberg:

  • Putin’s plane may have been target of Ukrainian rocket: Interfax
    • Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plane crossed route of crashed Malaysian plane near Warsaw, Interfax reports, citing unidentified person in Russian aviation service.
    • Possible that Ukrainian rocket was fired from land or from military plane: Interfax cites source
    • Plane that crashed was similar in size, color: Interfax
Obama Says U.S. Trying to Determine if U.S. Citizens on Plane
  • Ukraine Crash Kills 23 U.S. Citizens: Interior Ministry Adviser
  • Multiple airlines say they’re avoiding airspace in Eastern Ukraine
  • Lufthansa to avoid E. Ukraine airspace on shot-down plane
  • KLM avoids flying over concerned territory
  • Alitalia says all routes over Ukraine, nearby airspace halted
  • Aeroflot says flights going around Ukraine: RIA Novosti
  • Air France says it’s stopped flying over E. Ukraine
  • Turkish Airlines flights to avoid Ukraine airspace:  Reuters
  • Transaero to avoid flying over Ukrainian territory
  • BA says its flights don’t use E. Ukraine airspace

I'm sure the MH370 black box was ripped from it months ago.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says his country’s military did not shoot down the plane.

OK, not the Ukraine military, but was it shot down by your Nazi thugs with red arm-bands?

The "Black Box" just finished his press conference a few minutes ago.

The only aircraft over/into Ukraine will be Ukrainian and US State Department flights.

My bet would be on contractors anyway.

This article would strongly point to the rebels, supposedly they boasted on social media of downing an AN-26 right before this story broke.  Oops.

FWIW: Euromaidan just tweeted 'intercepted' conversation (in Russian?) of rebels (?) admitting they shot it down by mistake.

The black box is likely to have the perp's passport and SIN on it, so we should soon have this mystery solved.

are you saying they wanted to accidently hit Putins plane...oh boy

If that first bit about Putin's plane is true, then Ukraine is toast.

It would be impossible to prove either way. But yeah, it is about the only link that would make any sense. Notice, it would not be too much of a stretch for a Russian mole inside Ukraine to convince someone that a plane flying over had Putin on board, and it would be easy to imagine the Ukrainian defence forces simply going with it and shooting the plane down, not being smart enough to figure out what happens next, even if they are correct. And frankly not caring at all that they might be wrong.

The guys at the top are not always the smartest monkeys, and it's not all that hard to manipulate them into doing something stupid -- because they are.

And it could still all have been a tragic accident during war times. Wouldn't be the first, not by a long shot (pun intended).

It wouldn't be the first time Ukarine's military 'accidentally' shot down a civilian airliner:

Which supports my contention that Ukraine like everywhere else promotes incompetents into positions of responsibility.

You can ask why this happens, but you cannot deny that it is the rule rather than the exception.

From Interfax:

"

Bukov division of Ukrainian Armed Forces re-deployed to Donetsk area yesterday - source (Part 2)

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - According to objective control systems information, the Bukov division of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was re-deployed to the Donetsk area yesterday, an informed source said.

One more Bukov division is currently being loaded in Kharkiv, the source said.

Only 'S' class or Buk [SA-10, SA-17, NATO reporting name Grizzly] family of munitions can hit aircraft at altitudes of over 10 kilometers, the source said.

The militia does not and can not have such arms, the source said.

The Ukrainian party said earlier without holding an investigation and studying crash circumstances that the aircraft was allegedly hit by militia and allegedly from the Buk air defense system.

Meanwhile, leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said it did not rule out that the Malaysian Airlines Boeing-777 could have been brought down by Ukrainian servicemen. "Very serious clashes are ongoing in the region, where the Boeing crashed. Non-stop gunfire is under way there," DPR First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Purgin told Interfax.

The militia does not have SA-17 Buk air defense means as Kyiv alleges, Purgin said.

Facts are tough.  However, western media has jumped all over this and now claim that Russia shot the plane down.

BLOTTO's picture

When SO much is 'known' and considered as 'fact' in just 30 minutes after a major event like this...it reeks of a false flag.

I checked the flightware aircraft tracking site just after ZH posted the link.

At that time the radar track ended near the north western border of Ukraine.

Checking the same page now shows a track that continues across Ukraine to the the crash site. Not sure if this "delayed reporting" is normal for Flightware.

Also the info on Putin's plane being in the area of makes a lot of sense. Ukraine/NATO/ USSA undertake a decapitation attack on Putin but shoot down the wrong aircraft.

Obummer blows it again.

Flightaware's tracking isn't as good as Flightradar24. They showed it tracking farther to the southeast right away.

In real investigations you question everything, and you leave no stones unturned.

A tell tale sign of collusion in any event is a failure to thoroughly investigate the event after the fact.

That would make sense. I'm sure Porky is looking for revenge after his cargo plane was shot down.

That very interesting, I just wonder if he would fly in a unarmed plane without any escort over a not so friendly territory. Well, it looks like we going to a next level.

Canucklehead's picture

The pathetic Pro-Russian Separtists did it.  Now they are trying to cover their tracks. Putin's phone call was a pre-arranged call.  This storyline about his plane flying over the Ukraine is a desparate attempt to deflect world opinion away from Putin.

Absolutely pathetic.

Well,  not pathetic if it works.

Coming from Interfax? I highly doubt it. They're the official mouthpiece of the Sovi... err, I mean Russian government. Furthermore, Putin is known to travel with up to 4 decoy planes. Even if he really were travelling, it's unlikely the flight path of the exact plane he flying in would have been in that area. One of the decoys maybe, assuming Interfax can be trusted (hint: it can't be trusted!)
