US Makes Up Its Mind: "The Pro-Russian Separatists Did It, Although We Really Don't Know"
Sounding more and more like a Wall Street economist, it appears US intelligence has made up its mind that pro-Russian separatists shot down the Malaysian Airlines jet in Ukraine... but are not really sure... As WSJ reports, a U.S. official said there are “indicators” that Russian separatists fired the (BUK) SA-11 that took down the plane, but that officials have not reached a definitive conclusion. "There are still a lot of questions," the official said. So - put another way - they have no idea (but know what they would like the answer to be).
The U.S. now believes that pro-Russian separatists were responsible for firing the missile that downed a Malaysia Airlines jetliner, a Defense official said Friday.
Officials in Washington also confirmed that the missile was fired from a Russian-made SA-11, or Buk, system, the Defense official said.
The official cautioned on both findings that a U.S. probe isn’t complete and investigators and analysts are still sifting the circumstances surrounding and leading up to the firing of the missile.

In the end it doesn't matter who shot it down. The entire fiasco began with the east vs west tug of war to get Ukraine into their sphere of influence. The US is doing everything in it's power to deflect from the fact that the coup supported by the west really got things heated up. It is very telling that the EU is balking at further sanctions against Russia, as they know that will mean a very cold winter and further economic slump. EU is now caught in the middle between the east and west. Will we see them continue to walk the line? Will they choose one love over another? Or will they go their own way? On live Russian TV they showed a couple guys going through the wreckage collecting the passports. They are all given to one guy who then opens them one at a time on TV to show the names and pictures of the people they belonged to. He then drops them all in a pile and that's where this picture was taken.
Is it standard procedure to rummage through a crime scene separating IDs from bodies and then throwing them in a pile? WTF??

From the footage I saw yesterday on ABC, they had a whole stack of pristine passports that they were tossing in a pile on the ground.
They're (MSM) now showing pictures of about ~30 passports all piled up and all in perfect condition. Also surprising, and I've seen a couple analysts mention it, is that so many bodies are so intact. Rapid decompression at that altidude, along with a 10km descent at near terminal velocity with an assload of jetfuel strapped to you isnt going to leave much. Obviously i don't have all of the info, just an observation.

Actually I think it's quite reasonable that many passports are still in tact and the bodies are not more thoroughly charred.
Planes store fuel in the wings. The luggage and bodies are in the cabin, which is not filled with jet fuel.
If the plane blows up in midair, the fuselage is not itself exploding, the wings are.
when the fuselage crashes into the ground, it does not "blow up", it has a physical impact that scatters matter.
i am not sure why people are assuming spontaneous combustion like responses from a crash.

The Spanish air controller confirms a conflict between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior intimating that the order concerning the downing of the aircraft came from the Ministry of the Interior, which is dominated by Svoboda and Right Sector.
He also said that the MH17 flight was escorted by Ukrainian fighter jets minutes before it was downed. It is worth noting that the presence of the Ukraine fighter jets reported by the Spanish air traffic controller was confirmed by eyewitness reports in the Donetsk region:

Since we are dealing with provable liars (the Kiev government), we’re going to need better evidence as to what brought the plane down, surface to air or air to air missile. If a BUK missile system was used, its application requires considerable experience; this is not some truck-fired missile the separatists have used to bring down Ukrainians airplanes. Instead, it is a highly complicated delivery system requiring radar coordination to be able to hit a high-flying Boeing 777 traveling at full speed.
Russian authorities say the separatists do not have that capability. But the Ukrainian army does have several of these units in the Donetsk vicinity.
As to “you can't see fighter jets at 33,000 feet,” who mentioned at what altitude they allegedly saw the fighter jets or under what circumstances?

The commercial planes are bigger than most fighters. If you can't see the BIG BRIGHTLY PAINTED commercial plane, you wouldn't be able to see the SMALL CAMOFLAGED FIGHTER.

You need some better glasses.
It might be hard to distinguish between the commercial and military planes from a distance, but they should both be visible, even absent contrails in broad daylight.
At night it's even easier to see them, but harder to distinguish between them (although the three military transports I saw flying towards eastern Europe last week were obviously military- since they were flying in formation and they didn't appear on any public flight schedules).

Given the amount of US satellite coverage and AWACS planes flying near by - the only absolute is that the US knows for certain that Western Ukrainie did it and that they are hoping there won't be enough evidence to prove it. If the US had 'proof' that the rebels did it, we would be seeing that all over the front pages.
It would have been very easy for Kiev to 'spoof' the rebels. They won and operate BUK systems themselves. They could have sent one east and then shot the airliner down claiming it was the "rebels." This has all the signs of a false flag attack aimed at getting the US and Europe to help them gain control of the east.

MH17 was diverted from the previous flight plan by that escort to restricted airspace intentionally
The fighters broke off once the missile was in the air
Assuming it was the seperatists who fired - they were targetting the fighters
Assuming it was the Ukraine who fired - false flag setup
Russia most assuredly did NOT fire, as doing so has zero benefit.
Someone wanted THAT plane to be at THAT location, smack dab in the middle of hot airspace. The smoking gun really is the fact that the Buk is not a fire and forget system. If they had the tech and training to fire on it and hit it at that altitude, they had the same training and tech to know it was civilian.
I admit I don't know much about international law, but given that this was not a U.S. airliner, and crashed in Europe what exactly is the U.S. jurisdiction in this? a U.S. probe isn’t complete and investigators and analysts are still sifting the circumstances surrounding and leading up to the firing of the missile.
Because its a Boeing the NTSB and FAA get a say in normal accidents. But this doesnt strictly count in that theme.
