Governor Perry Deploys 1,000 National Guard To Border, Denies "Militarization Of The Border"

Tyler Durden's picture

It appears Texas Governor Rick Perry has grown weary waiting on the President to dictate the next steps in the immigration debacle and taken things into his own hands. As The Monitor reports, an internal memo from another state official’s office said the governor planned to call about 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to the Rio Grande Valley - at a cost of about $12 million per month. State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa exclaimed, "all these politicians coming down to border, they don't care about solving the problem, they just want to make a political point." However, state officials were careful to point out that "this is not a militarization of the border." Nope, not all...

As The Monitor reports,

Texas Gov. Rick Perry plans to announce he will activate the Texas National Guard at a news conference Monday in Austin, said state Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen.

Hinojosa did not have details of the effort, but an internal memo from another state official’s office said the governor planned to call about 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to the Rio Grande Valley — at a cost of about $12 million per month.

..

The troops will join the Texas Department of Public Safety in its recent surge to combat human smuggling and drug trafficking amid the influx of mostly Central Americans illegally crossing the Rio Grande. Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, and Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced the $1.3 million per week effort last month.

State leaders approved funding for extra DPS troopers to fill in gaps in Border Patrol coverage in the Valley as the federal authorities were overwhelmed with an influx of children and families from Central America. The state officials feared Mexican drug cartels might exploit the situation to move their own drugs and human contraband while Border Patrol attention was turned elsewhere.

...

“All these politicians coming down to border, they don't care about solving the problem, they just want to make a political point,” he said.

...

“This is not a militarization of the border,” the memo states. “The DPS and the National Guard are working to keep any drug and human trafficking south of (U.S. Highway) 83 and with the goal of keeping any smuggling from entering major highways to transport East/West/and North.”

...

“It is not clear where the money will come from in the budget,” the memo states, adding that Perry's office has said the money will come from “non critical” areas, such as health care or transportation.

We await President Obama's executive actions to take care of this... time to roll out the SWATified vehicles...

"   militarizing the borders is the classic "we need more government to solve a government-created problem""

No it isn't. It's one of the few things the fedgov should be doing.

Bitch whine and cry cause all the illegals then bitch whine and cry cause of border control.

The border should be millitarized and anyone caught trying to cross, including woman and children, should be shot on sight.

As bad as that sounds far fewer would die trying I would bet.

Truth be told it's probably to keep us, including the illegals already here, in the US lmao.

Fuck the government. Fuck the national guard. Fuck borders. Fuck countries. If i want to hire jose to work on my own private land for next to nothing, and hes cool with that, why the fuck do the doucebags with guns get to say anything about that? This issue is simply about men with stolen money and guns telling people what to do, same as everything else.

Oh, and fuck welfare for anyone, illegal or legal citizen.

Thats OK, but Jose brings his stupid kids and his wife with him.  They want to use the schools and when they get sick they want medicine and doctors.

I am with you.  I say, "Fuck'em"

But until we can get everyone on our side, the systems will be overrun because you are a cheap bastard.

I think I covered the schools and doctors with the "fuck welfare" portion of my post.

So I make a voluntary transaction with a person, and its my fault the guys with guns steals money and gives some brown guys kids shitty medical care and "education" and pockets the rest. ok.

So to not be cheap, i should hire blake for what the men with guns have decided is minimum wage? Do you think blake isnt also getting welfare in the form of thousands in student loans?

I'm not sure what the point of this is.  The public image of immigrants is currently the child assylum seeker.  From what I've heard they are looking to be picked up by CBP, who is too overwhelmed to process the deportation in a timely fashion.  What are the troops going to do?  Besides shooting drug smugglers, I don't see that the interception of immigrants is an area that needs more manpower.  They're not authorized to send them back south.

Exactly. Even if they could really do something, they won't. Perry gets nothing out of doing the right thing. He is just another globalist crook. If he sends them back, he will be smashed by the globalists. All he has to do is talk tough and he gets the conservative sheeple vote. Talk tough, do nothing, win-win for him. He will do nothing meaningful for real Americans, like always.

Perry has a horrific record on immigration and border security and the fact that few within the Conservative Establishment are calling out his hypocrisy is shameful. Immigration patriots—Americans—can’t afford to be fooled again.

As I noted before Perry announced his 2012 campaign, he has had a long and consistent record of opposing border security, supporting Amnesty, and giving privileges to illegal aliens. These statements actions are undeniably partially complicit the current crisis.

Perry opposed putting a fence on the border, calling the idea “idiocy” and echoing the cliché “If you build a 40-foot wall, then the 42-foot ladder industry takes off.” That, believe it or not, was in a speech he gave in Mexico City in 2007. [U.S. Congress lacks 'maturity' to solve immigration, Perry says, AP, Brownsville Herald, August 28, 2007]

Perry came out in favor of giving “a guest worker program that takes undocumented workers off the black market and legitimizes their economic contributions without providing them citizenship status.” [A better way to secure the border, December 14, 2006].Allowing illegals to work but not vote would help Perry keep his job.

Perry’s fanatical past support for giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens was directly responsible for the implosion of his 2012 presidential ambitions. But this is also one of the hypothetical goodies encouraging the tens of thousands of “DREAMers” flooding the border.

Perry’s defense of granting in-state tuition to illegal aliens was particularly obnoxious. He claimed: “If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they’ve been brought their through no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart.” Of course, this allowed Romney to pivot to the right with the response“I think if you’re opposed to illegal immigration it doesn’t mean that you don’t have a heart. It means you have a heart and a brain.”

After Romney’s defeat, Perry joined those who proposed Amnesty as an instant cure for Republican ills.

Perry is an open globalist unless he is running for election.  He pushed for the NAFTA super highway.  He could have controlled the Texas border years ago if he really wanted to, just like previous governor Bush could have too.  Perry wants a free-flow of cheap labor.

Not fooled by play his play to the GOP base by pretending to be so very conservative.  Watch what they do not what they say.

This will just geometritrically expedite & expand the calamity.  Sounds good though, keep up the great work.

Why any of these governors are putting up with unlawful orders from Obama/Holder just shows how powerless they are.   Perry is making an effort.  What happened to Brewer in Arizona?  Or the Republican woman "running" New Mexico?  Of course, Jerry Brown is more than happy to destroy his state to cement one-party demonrat control forever.   Hell, ship 'em all to Cali.

Treasonous “open border” secret trade agreements of the North American Union is nothing new, the plan has been on the books, funded and underway for the last 13 years. The target of “open border” illegal immigration is to destroy our American Sovereignty and American Independence with government and NGO funded and orchestrated attacks on our borders with the use of illegal immigrants. The second objective is to create civil unrest and chaos which the criminals in Washington specialize in.

The globalist are in total control.

The Stock Market is rigged, Congress has been corrupted into Treason; our Free Enterprise System of capitalism (free from corporate monopoly) has been destroyed; our Constitution, Freedom and Democracy has been destroyed and replaced with a totalitarian police state; our education system has been turned into brainwashing facilities selling globalization and world government while falling from number 1 in science and education to 22 out of a possible 23 of advanced countries; globalist main stream media is not to inform the population but to brainwash the uneducated with globalist world government propaganda; our local, state and federal governments are under globalist UN Agenda 21st. Century control; globalist NAFTA, TPP, and other secret trade agreements are designed to destroy American Independence and Sovereignty with open borders and with United Nations, North American Union, IMF, BIS and World Bank government rule.

The globalist are in total control. David Rockefeller has dedicated his entire bankster life formulating Treason against the USA and doing so under the media radar with the Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, EU, United Nations, World Bank, NAU, Free Trade and other globalist attacks on our independent democracy and our Free Enterprise System (free from corporate monopoly) economy,

Can anyone remember when you were brainwashed to think globally and one world government? The globalist are brainwashing your children every day in school, the same when you were brainwashed if you attended school from 1970 to today!

How can any rational American be a globalist when globalism and fascism (merger of government with corporate monopoly) has destroyed your freedom and democracy and sentenced you, and your children, to be legal debt slaves in a police state?

A better strategy would be to cut the taxpayer-funded handouts to ZERO.

The invading barbarians won't stay where they get nothing. If individual states like TX, AZ, WY, et al end their free handouts, the Ostrogoths will pool in states like CA, IL, NY, and NJ.

As a state with the first line of border defense, if I were governor of the great republic of texas I would call every other governor of a non border state and tell them to ante up some moolah for the protection of our southern border since the federal gov't is a non-participant. If a state governor denies any assistance I would start shipping those illegals that are here already to those non participating states and let them find out how it feels to pay for illegal, sick, uneducated, non english speaking immigrants. I would also ask for other states militias to send troops to help defend the border with the understanding that they would be under direct control of the texas governor's office. Then I would order tear gas. LOTS of tear gas. Non lethal but quite effective. And let everyone know that that is the only first step. The second step will be determined by their next move.

I am tired of this crap.
