reddit.com is a large site that is a little bit like ZH, but is more computer-oriented. They also have many, many users reply there as well. Those who comment there are less pro-Russia as a whole than those here.
Is that supposed to be BAD news for Putin ? In Russia, the KGB controls the billionaires, as opposed to US and the Western World. There are no billionaires without Putin's approval. Those who tried to play against him are dead, or have been "warned" (see Khodorovsky). Russian billionaires are more like CEOs in charge of a multinational, except it's not THEIRS, they cannot liquidate it, take the money and run with it. If they try anything like that, their assets would be confiscated immediately, and they would end up stiff (most probably). Also, they cannot mount a "coup d'etat" as foolish Americans keep hoping , because they are under complete KGB supervision and control. So, they don't matter in the Russian power equation. By trying to "sanction" the Russian rich (not too many), the West is playing exactly into Putin's hand by forcing a lot of money hidden into foreign accounts to return into Russian or Russian friendly banks or risk being confiscated as result of "sanctions". Which is why Putin has not lost any sleep over this entire American orchestrated kabuki play.
The West is making a very big bet that it can live without Russian resources. Good luck with that one ! Last time I checked, despite the "awesome" new age of American oil & gas (resulted from fracking), the oil is still above 100 USD, and gasoline over 3.50 USD/gal. And that's inside the US ! Outside, the resources map is much bleaker. And this is only the beginning...
As a side note, the normal Russians would be more than thrilled to know that some billionaires (which they hate with a passion) are having a bit of a trouble.
