Putin Recalls State Duma From Vacation, "Planning Something" On Ukraine Situation

Tyler Durden's picture

In a somewhat disconcerting move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has recalled The State Duma from a planned vacation to participate in an unscheduled meeting because of the situation in eastern Ukraine. As Ukrinform reports, sources confirm "Something is being planned, because many deputies come, probably for a quorum." Rumors are spreading that Putin is set to issue Kiev an ultimatum over recognizing separatists or face military intervention.

As Ukrinform reports,

State Duma deputies, who are currently on a planned vacation, urgently come to Moscow to participate in an unscheduled meeting because of the situation in eastern Ukraine, a source in the State Duma told Ukrinform on Wednesday.

"Maybe something will happen tomorrow. Now this issue is being solved. Something is being planned, because many deputies come, probably for a quorum. Many deputies arrive... and today they already have to be in Moscow," he said.

According to the source, it is still unknown which document is to be considered by Russian deputies.

According to the source, it is clear only that Russia's top-ranking officials "planned something" on the situation in the east of Ukraine if they plan to hold an unscheduled meeting of the State Duma.

It appears Putin is preparing to issue an ultimatum to Kiev (as LB.ua reports via Google Translate)

Russian attempt to legalize the terrorists as a political entity

Security Council in Moscow lasted until now and almost ended at 21.00 on Kiev.

This LB.ua said a source close to the Russian State Duma.

According to the information tomorrow, July 23, probably held a joint meeting of both houses of the Russian parliament - the Federation Council on which President Vladimir Putin "may declare any serious initiative."

According to the source LB.ua , tonight Ukrainian leadership will probably be an ultimatum, demanding a ceasefire and start negotiations in the Ukraine-Russia-"DNR" / "LC".

Thus, Russia will try to legitimize the terrorists as a political entity.

If Ukraine does not agree Putin, according to the interlocutor LB.ua, may decide on entering the Russian troops in Ukraine under the guise of "peacekeepers."

As reported, after the meeting of the EU Council has learned that the European Union could recognize so-called "DNR" and "LC" terrorist organizations.

*  *  *

Given that Poroshenko has demanded the separatists be labeled "terrorists" under international law, we suspect this is one demand they cannot fulfil... and of course, Ukraine is claiming that the 2 fighter jets shoit down this morning were shot down by and from Russia... sure, with the whole world watching, Putin would do that?

And you can believe what the UK says?

More than 200 licences to sell British weapons to Russia, including missile-launching equipment, are still in place despite David Cameron's claim in the Commons on Monday that the government had imposed an absolute arms embargo against the country, according to a report by a cross-party group of MPs released on Wednesday.

For those not aware (if you've been reading TF, for instance... heh...), the criminal Nazi government in Kiev has murdered 100's of civilians the last week, by using Smerch and Uragan batteries straight into civilian areas. I have many contacts from there - the Nazi scum are purposely avoiding military targets. >:(

If things pan out as speculated in this article, the Western narrative will change gear from "Putin did it" to "Putin's now annexing East Ukraine, he must be stopped".

Obama, Kerry & Cameron will be shrieking down the TV News mics. And with such imagined Russian provocation, it's difficult to see how the USG could resist sending in the military to protect Ukraine's democracy. ho-ho.

MH17 Chameleon: Operation Rapid Trident II

The announcement of U.S. BREEZE and RAPID TRIDENT II military maneuvers came on May 21, 2014 by Vice President Joe Biden’s office. Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is a newly-named director of the Ukrainian natural gas and oil company Burisma Holdings, Ltd., owned by Ihor Kolomoisky, the Ukrainian-Israeli mafia oligarch, who is known as the «Chameleon». Kolomoisky has raised his own mercenary army, complete with the BUK missiles allegedly used in the shootdown of MH-17. Kolomoisky, the Governor of Dnipropetrovsk oblast in eastern Ukraine, has threatened terrorist attacks against Russian-speaking officials in eastern Ukraine, including assassinations.

The question is to know whether the assertions made by this 'american' are facts or not. For 'americans', the group is all so they will pick a side.

That all matters.

If the poster ken had a point to make... he didn't do it very well.

I have a kind of utopian hope that we can all be on the same side, equal while respecting difference, I know there's a lot of work to do.

Comment of the day.

As stated, for 'americans', the group is all. They will pick sides. All that is to be known is whether the assertions are factual or not, then observing to which side 'americans' flock.

This is an 'american' world and this is somehow going to be hard to build a world where people can be on the same side, equal while respecting differences, when 'americans' cheer at gays being beat up etc

There is no construction to be made.

This is an 'american' world and 'americans' have shaped the world to their satisfaction.

personally I think Putin's got something big regarding the shoot down, just this morning he turned all of the data collected by the Russian military regarding flight 17 over to the EU, not to mentioned he seemed more than happy to have the black boxes heading to Europe. I think the western backed regime in Kiev is about be confirmed as the perps beyond as reasonable doubt or at the very least there is real evidence and proof presented that puts the current western narrative in serious jeopardy.

I think Putin might have, once again, badly outmaneuvered the west on this, acted with patience and allowed all the blame Russia and the separatists hype to build to a crescendo, only to pick the opportune moment to play his hand.

what is the old saying? give someone enough rope and they will hang themselves.

with enough proof of Kiev's involvement in the shoot down of a civilian airliner he would then have the moral high ground and a free hand to send in the military and secure the eastern part of the country, creating a buffer zone via a new republic wholly independent from Kiev.

what happens after that is anybody's guess, is Washington willing to go to war over the Ukraine, they might if all else fails.

and it appears that all else may just be about to.

"just this morning he turned all of the data collected by the Russian military regarding flight 17 over to the EU,"

Do you have a source for this? Curious because I predicted this in conversation with a buddy last night.  Putin "spent" an intelligence capacity when he released the Nuland cell phone intercept.  When I say "spent" I mean what was a rich capacity became worthless after he revealed it. It was important enough to justify they expenditure.  Not so much in the US where it went over the heads of 95% of the people (either because they are ignorant, indifferent, incapable of critical thought or blindly committed)  but in the EU where it was perfectly understood.

This is another such occasion and I believe they have excellent intel on this and will not hesitate to reveal it.  The intelligence here is standard signals and communications intercept and satellite imagery.  Nothing so valuable as having an ear on Nuland's (and how many other's) cell phones.

The one thing I don't understand is that the US will know, very well, what Russia's capacities are on this stuff so how could they expect not to get exposed?

Russia is being harrassed by NATO and basically given the ultimatum. Come out and play this game or else. Putin said that NATO is at the Russian border.

Does everybody get it now?

Read up on the events that unfolded prior to WW2 along the German / Polish border. Germany was constantly attacked by Poland and Poland had UK/France backing. The war started long before September 1st as Poland had mobilized its entire armies already since March. September 2nd the "Allies" declared war on Germany.

Same template here again. The "Allies" want to pull Russia into this war. Holland better pay attention. The IMF cabal shot down MH17 to escalate the tensions and that's just their open invitation. If they don't RSVP soon, there will be lots more bloodshed.

Either way, we're all fucked

Possibly MH17 false flag was the pretext for getting NATO forces into the area to help flagging Kiev troops. If Russia thinks they will push on with this then they will put their troops on the ground first, hence the rush with the Duma, we  will soon know. After that no more pretend proxy war, if NATO wants in they will have to buy into the game with their own blood. Nukes could get called in, Russia is not going to accept an existential threat, and petrodollar bashing seems to be going faster than anticipated. To me the west seems to be getting hysterical and sloppy.

Rebel leader confirms possession of Buk missile system

In an interview with Alexander Khodakovsky, a Ukrainian rebel leader, Reuters has been told that separatists did possess the anti-aircraft system suspected to have shot down MH17.

Khodakovsky, commander of the Vostok Battalion, indicated that the Buk may have originated in Russia and could have been sent back to remove proof of its presence.

Khodakovsky blamed the Kiev authorities for provoking what may have been the missile strike that destroyed the doomed airliner, saying Kiev had deliberately launched air strikes in the area, knowing the missiles were in place.

"I knew that a Buk came from Luhansk. At the time I was told that a BUK from Luhansk was coming under the flag of the LNR," he said, referring to the self-styled Luhansk People's Republic.

Khodakovsky suggested the Buk system is back in Russia: "That Buk I know about. I heard about it. I think they sent it back. Because I found out about it at exactly the moment that I found out that this tragedy had taken place. They probably sent it back in order to remove proof of its presence."

"The question is this: Ukraine received timely evidence that the volunteers have this technology, through the fault of Russia. It not only did nothing to protect security, but provoked the use of this type of weapon against a plane that was flying with peaceful civilians

"They knew that this Buk existed; that the Buk was heading for Snizhne," he said, referring to a village 10km west of the crash site. "They knew that it would be deployed there, and provoked the use of this Buk by starting an air strike on a target they didn't need, that their planes hadn't touched for a week."

"And that day, they were intensively flying, and exactly at the moment of the shooting, at the moment the civilian plane flew overhead, they launched air strikes. Even if there was a Buk, and even if the Buk was used, Ukraine did everything to ensure that a civilian aircraft was shot down."

Yesterday locals in Torez told the Guardian they had seen such a system in rebel hands, but this is the first confirmation from rebels since MH17 crashed.

Perhaps half of the comments here "... welcome Russian military escalation and invasion of Eastern Ukraine ...", but lets be honest, Russia no Russia, all the credit goes to Victoria Nuland and her handlers. In fact, if Putin had not accepted Crimea's request to rejoin Russia, Crimea would currently be in the same mess as Donetsk, so Putin actually saved lives. What many people believe, is that had Putin extended the same offer to Donetsk, more lives could have been saved, assuming the cowards in Kiev and Washington would have been kept in check by their fear of a formidable opponent, after all, bullies always go after smaller guys.

I try to follow the military campaign asa best I can from a computer. I visit social media connected to the Self Defense Forces and several translated Russian blogs that are connected to the pro Russian Ukrainian side. The last two days there have been reports that Ukrainian forces have grown too large to hold back. Too much artillery, too many tanks, too many heavy rocket batteries and too much air support. Simple math is showing the SDF that they are in trouble. Winning battles seems only to delay not stop Kiev's big push. In military terms you have a large fully equipped army and you have a hihgly motivated group of skillful fighters using only a few heavy weapons and no large tank or artillery forces with zero air support. The result is starting to show, and the SDF commanders are admitting that the enemy is too large to keep defeating.

Yesterday the talk on social media was of a decission by Putin. He either helps the resistance or the result will be defeat. The SDF has been pretty honest about the situation, when they win they are happy, but when they lose positions they come clean about it and make no attempt to hide it. As of late they have given a heavy defeat to a southern army that tried to close the border and stop support getting to Donetsk. Kiev's troops were pressed against the border, trapped, but the SDF admits they do not have enough men or weapons to move in an end it.

The simple fact is, and SDF leadership says it, as do foot soldiers who do the fighting. Russia must now either begin rapid aid with heavy weapons, or the SDF can not hold out more than a couple months. Russia gambled that the resistance could hold till winter, when Kievs economy would be near collapse, and an srmy in the field in winter would be under much pressure. Defense in winter is always easier, especially when it is centerd in a large city like Donetsk. Putin has lost that gamble, in his attempt to influence the Europeans to not join the USA in open economic warfare. Putin lost this bet. Now he is in a box, if he lets these fighters be killed and civilians abused by fascist militias, if those scenes turn up on Russian TV?  Putin's political power will crumble. Make no mistake, most Russians are already enraged by the lack of support for the 8 million Russian Ukrainians fighting a coup government put in power by Washington DC and controlled by Obama and his CIA.

I have said, and did yesterday, that Putin needs to stop "fucking the dog", and start an emergency flow of arms and supplies across that border. America does this all the time all over the world, support rebels who are usefull to American foreign policy. We even run air wars to help them. Like Libya. We even fund, arm and train Al-Qaeda and ISIS, our pal in NATO Turkey even runs fuill blown Al-Qaeda terrorist camps on it's border with Syria. That is why I say Putin must do the same. I see all the dead bodies on the videos, hundreds of them. None of this would happen expect for Washington DC's coup and support of Kiev's fascist troops. This time Washington is killing white Europeans by the hundreds. Why do I care? This time my ethnic group, to an extent, is being killed. So I feel like Washington should be held to account. They used to kill Asians by the millions, Arabs by the hundreds of thousands, now they are after ethic whites. I am sick of Washington DC's killing sprees.

Notice I say Washington DC is doing the killing, not America. We American people are being ruled by Washington DC, we don't have a say in this. Nobody I know is responsible for this. Only the Neocon canbal in Washington. Their thug Obama, and all their secret police and spy, bankers and corporate CEO's. This is theri game, not the average Americans. Why do we need to supprt Washington's murder to be a patriot? Simple question. We should not have to, this is put on us by Media and the Government the idea that the Neocons must be supported or we are not true Americans. Fuck that shit! They tell us what we must think? And so many media watching fools buy right into it.

I can feel your pain, friend.

Another major war is coming. It is palatable now.

8 million ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine that are faced with oppression, degradation and worse, with extinction. Western Ukraine is stupid to make deals with Washington and EU but THEY TOOK THE MONEY. The oligarchs took the money and they made a contract with the devil.

Bankster cabal wants this war so bad, its sickening. Again the bankster cabal has bloated the world with worthless paper and the world is not able to repay the loans from thin air. Then the banksters come for the blood which is happening now.

What most people in the world don't realize is the restraint on the Russian side, from Putin to NOT intervene in Ukraine war although there are 8 million ethnic Russians.

Russia is well within their right, morally and legally to assist the seperatists. This is a Russian affair and nobody else has anything to say about it - theoretically.

Notice how Lagarde was speaking of G7 (clearly w/o Russia) already in January. Then in February the cabal in Washington started the "Maidan" revolution during the Olympic Games and Putin's hands were clearly tied. These fucks knew exactly that Putin could not act on the affairs and initially it looked as if the Ukrainians really just wanted freedom from Russia. Bullshit of course. Crimea is Russian and is more important to Russia than to anyone else. The people of Crimea voted overwhelmingly for Russia anyway. Again, it's nobody's business but Russia's business.

The cabal wants war. The cabal knows that debts cannot be repaid. They made loans from nothing, from thin air and indebted the world. Russia took IMF money and Putin knows who and what he is up against.

All people in the world need to stand up and tell Washington, tell the cabal of banksters - ENOUGH, NO MORE! Let the banksters work a decent job in their lives just for one week. They won't last. Send them to the Gulag. That's where they belong!

Excellent summary of the situation. Putin is sitting back and allowing Washington DC's neocon CIA funnel all forms of support to Kiev's new army of Right Sector thugs. Even the regular Ukraine army has now started to commit war crimes. Yet some people believe Washington has god's right to do this, while Russia must remain silent and allow it all to happen. If Washington does not get it's way, they will threaten more war. The worst of this whole thing is the level the western media has sunk to. They now outright lie with shamless abandon.

SOme Polish pilots seem to be flying Ukie fighters for pay. This pay comes from US CIA, and I am sure it is very high pay. We simply must wait till a Pole is shot down and captured. Or, with rebel missile fire becoming more effective, the coward Poles may have taken their pay and gone home Cowards will kill innocents when it is easy, but if rebels show ability to shoot them down, maybe they go home.

goodness knows the actions of the Kiev military have not been widely reported, or really reported at all, in the US or UK press, so I can only guess what fuckery they've been up to...'they' likely including some CIA special service and/or blackwater types....  real cunts and psychopaths who...I'll wager, aren't really prepared for angry Russians fighting for and on their home turf.

In any event, if I'm Putin - I say, especially given the tragedy directly caused by Kiev's military aggression - and its bombing campaign, we are extending a no fly zone over the 2 self-declared republics, and weill urge a ceasefire on all sides, and talks regarding some sort of federation - a compromise to guarantee these people soem autonomy while preserving the rest of Ukraine from further disintegration.  If after 5 years, the republics wish to vote to become independent or join Russia, and do so with a 2/3 majority or greater, they may do so.

The no fly zone will include NATO jets.  Additional missile batteries will be sent to Crimea, Kalingrad, and additional naval assets delployed in the Baltic and Eastern Med. to preserve peace over the skies.  We will invite our Chinese friends to participate in small military exercises in these area.

If you do not like this response, perhaps the US should not have spent the last 50 years overthrowing dmeocratically elected governments, bombing civilians, and generally meddling all over the world while expanding its network of military bases far from its own borders.

Now - {in english} go fuck yourself.

Good pic.

So does that look like it was hit by a Surface to Air missile which others on here have mentioned detonates in the front of the object?  Methinks so.  As opposed to Air to Air which go to engines or the tail area.

The R-60 missile (which is usually the air-to-air missile of the SU-25), as I understand it does not go for the engine - I believe that like the Buk missile, it works on a proximity detonator - so when it gets close to the plane, it explodes - same as Buk.

Wed, 07/23/2014 - 15:31 | 4994570 Victor999
Victor999's picture

The pattern of the individual shrapnel holes seems to indicate that they entered from slightly below and to the rear of the cockpit.  Look at the shaded areas around many of the holes - each shaded area seems to be to the right of the hole, the hole being in the left top quadrant. The pattern of the holes themselves appear to be mostly slanted from slightly below and travelling up - not vertically as if they were made by an object directly below, but at slanted as if being made by an object entering from below but towards the rear of the plane.

Or am I imaging things.  I am no forensics expert.  But I suspect that the missile exploded from the left rear of the plane somewhat below it.  Would this leave it open for an air-to-air missile?  Or are we definitely looking at the pattern that a Buk missile would make as it exploded near to the plane?

It's really not that obvious to me.  For one thing it left a huge whole in the side of the plane.  I don't think a Buk missile would do that.  And how can you tell where it came from by the photo?

It's all about the Su-25 imo - not shooting MH17 down but hiding in the radar shadow.

Imagine a large plane at point A flying at 10km and a radar on the ground some way ahead at point B. You have a line between A and B. A fighter might be able to hide in the larger plane's radar shadow if it flies ahead of the larger plane and lower down so it's somewhere along that line. That would explain why the SU-25 appeared on Russian radar after MH17 was hit and why the US doesn't want to show what their satellites saw.

Just a theory.

Well, SHIT!

Obomba has declared economic war on Russia, so what the hell does Putin have to lose now from escalating along military lines?

If he doesn't act, he's going to face unending financial and economic attack and casualties, and constant antagonizing and associated costs from Kiev - so he may as well get his licks in because no matter what he does he's going to be targeted in this open economic and political and proxy [Ukraine] war against Russia.

Putin has shown great restraint, made repeated efforts at a political solution with Kiev and the West (don't get me wrong - I know how crafty Putin is and how un-innocent he is respecting suport for the rebels in east Ukraine), so now Russia can be very 'justified' in making a much more forceful move as respects Ukraine and call the U.S. and Europe's bluff - make them put up (diplomatically and even militarily) or SHUT THE HELL UP!

Bottom line: you can only get away with this kind of underhanded, shortsighted, hypocritical shit with an angry bear for just so long before you get clawed across the face. That may come in the form of a huge diplomatic humiliation, or possibly even a military one if Putin decides to end the Ukraine fiasco on his own terms now.
