So, if 60,000 half-assed rockets had been fired across the border at the US, with another 500,000 or so known to be still there and waiting, how would you like them apples?

In fact, if you want to know why Israel isn't doing something 10x worse, it's because there is, or was, a lot of that same kind of crossover between about 1948 and 2000 or so. At least that's the best I can figure. Even while smaller-scale attacks went on and on and on. Yet the Palestinians on the whole weren't happy with that and voted in Hamas, and now would rather do what they're doing than move to more open borders with Israel.
Actually, the "immigration reform" that both sides really want in the US would keep most of the US border probably more open than it is now, just with more paperwork. Both US parties love floods of cheap labor, though for different reasons.

So even when the Palestinians observe the ceasefires (which are just as often broken by Israel as they are by Hamas, I might add) Israel and US satraps Egypt maintain the ruinous blockade that makes Gazans' life a misery.
