If Americans Knew What Was Happening In Israel …

George Washington's picture

If my fellow Americans understood the history of Israel and Palestine, their views would change overnight … and they would demand that Israel no longer be given unconditional support and blank checks to do whatever they want:

Postscript: Former Israeli Minister: Calling people who criticize Israeli policy “anti-semitic. It’s a trick … we always use it”.

ZH folks are hip to what the reality is not just about what is happening in Gaza but also right here in the USA.

But as an example of Israeli aid:

This estimate of total U.S. direct aid to Israel updates the estimate given in the July 2006 issue of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. It is an estimate because arriving at an exact figure is not possible, since parts of U.S. aid to Israel are a) buried in the budgets of various U.S. agencies, mostly that of the Defense Department (DOD), or b) in a form not easily quantifiable, such as the early disbursement of aid, giving Israel a direct benefit in interest income and the U.S. Treasury a corresponding loss. Given these caveats, our current estimate of cumulative total direct aid to Israel is $113.8554 billion.

It must be emphasized that this analysis is a conservative, defensible accounting of U.S. direct aid to Israel, NOT of Israel’s cost to the U.S. or the American taxpayer, nor of the benefits to Israel of U.S. aid. The distinction is important, because the indirect or consequential costs suffered by the U.S. as a result of its blind support for Israel exceed by many times the substantial amount of direct aid to Israel. (See, for example, the late Thomas R. Stauffer’s article in the June 2003 Washington Report, “The Costs to American Taxpayers of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: $3 Trillion.”)

Especially, this computation does not include the costs resulting from the invasion and occupation of Iraq—hundreds of billions of dollars, 4,000-plus U.S. and allied fatalities, untold tens of thousands of Iraqi deaths, and many thousands of other U.S., allied, and Iraqi casualties—which is almost universally believed in the Arab world to have been undertaken for the benefit of Israel. Among other “indirect or consequential” costs would be the costs of U.S. unilateral economic sanctions on Iran, Iraq, Libya and Syria, the costs to U.S. manufacturers of the Arab boycott, and the costs to U.S. companies and consumers of the 1973 Arab oil embargo and consequent and subsequent soaring oil prices partially as a result of U.S. support for Israel.

Among the real benefits to Israel that are not direct costs to the U.S. taxpayer are the early cash transfer of economic and military aid, in-country spending of a portion of military aid, and loan guarantees. The U.S. gives Israel all of its economic and military aid directly in cash during the first month of the fiscal year, with no accounting required of how the funds are used. Also, in contrast with other countries receiving military aid, who must purchase through the DOD, Israel deals directly with the U.S. companies, with no DOD review. Furthermore, Israel is allowed to spend 26.3 percent of each year’s military aid in Israel (no other recipient of U.S. military aid gets this benefit), which has resulted in an increasingly sophisticated Israeli defense industry. As a result, Israel has become a major world arms exporter; the Congressional Research Service (CRS) reports that in 2006 Israel was the world’s ninth leading supplier of arms worldwide, earning $4.4 billion from defense sales.

Another benefit to Israel are U.S. government loan guarantees. The major loan guarantees have been $600 million for housing between 1972 and 1990; $9.2 billion for Soviet Jewish resettlement between 1992 and 1997; about $5 billion for refinancing military loans commercially; and $9 billion in loan guarantees authorized in FY ’03 and extended to FY ’10. Of that $9 billion, CRS reports that Israel has drawn $4.1 billion through FY ’07. These loans have not—yet—cost the U.S. any money; they are listed on the Treasury Department’s books as “contingent liabilities,” which would be liabilities to the U.S. should Israel default. However, they have been of substantial, tangible benefit to Israel, because they enable Israel to borrow commercially at special terms and favorable interest rates.

We pay and pay and pay:

I don't know if you realize it but, you don't bomb your friends. Why doesn't Gaza simply try to be friends with Israel and Egypt? Why don't Gazans simply turn the other cheek? Is that too much of a Christian virtue to be acceptable to their tribal value system?

Why don't Gazans simply help the Israelis locate all the missles, launchers and tunnels. Once all of that has been found and destroyed, the Israelis could leave.

Erm... because even when the Palestinians observe the ceasefires, the Israelis (and US satraps Egypt) maintain their crippling blockade?

Here, some facts for ya!

7) "Hamas has been obstructing people from getting the food and the medicines that they need."

Maybe, but are we expected to believe that the Israelis care about the health and well-being of the people of Gaza? According to a 'secret' US State Department cable, based on conversations between US diplomats and senior Israeli officials, revealed by Wikileaks in 2011: "Israeli officials have confirmed to Embassy officials on multiple occasions that they intend to keep the Gazan economy functioning at the lowest level possible consistent with avoiding a humanitarian crisis.. As part of their overall embargo plan against Gaza, Israeli officials have confirmed ... on multiple occasions that they intend to keep the Gazan economy on the brink of collapse without quite pushing it over the edge." Also, official Israeli documents, released to the Gisha human rights organisation under Freedom of Information legislation, showed that "the Israeli military made precise calculations of Gaza's daily calorie needs to avoid malnutrition during a blockade imposed on the Palestinian territory between 2007 and mid-2010" and then refused to allow in enough trucks of food to meet those "daily calorie needs".

4 For Gaza will be abandoned And Ashkelon a desolation; Ashdod will be driven out at noon And Ekron will be uprooted. 5 Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, The nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines; And I will destroy you So that there will be no inhabitant. 6 So the seacoast will be pastures, With caves for shepherds and folds for flocks. 7 And the coast will be For the remnant of the house of Judah, They will pasture on it. In the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down at evening; For the LORD their God will care for them And restore their fortune.

I do.

But it just does not apply to the current times.

I can quote Isaiah where Yahweh tells the Israelites that since they've turned their back on Him that they are about to be taken away into captivity. (They were after all taken into slavery in Babylon.) Of course that has already happened and does not apply.

But if they read the New Testament it clearly states that the Jew is the enemy of the Truth, the Gospel.. While in the end all Jews will be saved they need to be treated as enemies now.

Here is the quote in Romans Chapter 11...

25 hLest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers:4 ia partial hardening has come upon Israel, juntil the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,

k“The Deliverer will come lfrom Zion,

he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;

27  “and this will be my mcovenant with them

nwhen I take away their sins.”

28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are obeloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29 For the gifts and pthe calling of God are irrevocable.

Note that word, "enemy".

Now if these Zionists, actually Zealots, want to debate me, Jesus Christ did not particularly support them...

But remember this...take it to heart...

Not all Jews are Zionists, and, not all Zionists are Jews.

I know many good Jews but the Zionists are dishonest vipers and fiilled with venom.

Their fruits of death and destruction are a testimony to the evil within their spirits. A good vine does not bear bad fruit. The fruit which they bear is wicked beyond belief.

The Israelites were chosen to breed the Christ.

That is why the geneologies were so important to record.

We became genetically flawed, programmed to die, (Sin.). The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was an allusion to Sex and the Sex Act.

Knowlege, carnal knowledge at that, was that to which was referred in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

It is an allegorical story, not to be taken literally.

That is why the Bible, in the Geneologies, stated that Abraham KNEW Sarah and bore Issac, etc. etc. It was carnal knowledge.

The Christ was bred genetically perfect, a body that cannot die. Once the Christ was made manifest the role of Israel was completed. Jacob and Israel are the same PERSON. When Israel is referred to in the Bible it is speaking of Jacob's extended family tree. (Tree??? Get it?)

But Yahweh had made promises, COVENANT, to the Patriarchs...which He will keep. A covenant is a CONTRACT. Both parties have their responsibilities and benefits under the terms of contract. Yahweh will be faithful to keep His end of the bargain.

The Christ is the New Body, incorruptable, not subject to Death, that to which the New Covenant, the New Testament, refers. We shall take on clones of that New Body after Death.

The Jews are the enemy of the Gospel, the enemy of Truth, for now.

Yahweh does not work with the temporal in Mind. He works on the Eternal. This temporal existence is not His goal.

If I were to die tommorow for His sake then I shall lay down my life gladly as I will hope that I have an Eternity of joy. (But I am probably Hellbound along with most everyone else.) But I will still do it in the hope for that Joyful Eternity.

Yahweh's long term goal, at the time, was the manifestation of the Christ. If some died early for that goal to be achieved then so be it. They will also have an eternity to wipe away those tears...in a far better place. I am certain that He made provision.

The least will be exalted and the exalted will be brought down low.

I hope that this will lend some clarity to the picture.

yes and no.  To me the answer is reather simple.  Reather than try and make the entire Torah/OT make logic sense, why not just admit that it is a compilation of stories and information. some true, some not...  some designed to mislead, others designed to spread truth.   there are parts of the Torah that are pure evil, but to see it, you have to let go of the indoctrination meant to stop you from thinking critically about the source of the content.

One thing in particular strikes me about this situation, and that is that the media tries very hard to hide from Americans that there are dissenting voices in Israel and among Jews about Zionism, the creation of the state of Israel, and the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.  Thinking this way, they dismiss the Palestinian deaths as inevitable and necessary, which is hardly the case.

The internet has been a game changer. Now anyone who invests a little time and effort can learn for themselves what is happening. In short, no more excuses.

Most of the 'Jews' in Israel have less Judean blood then the Arabs they're stealing land from. How many Israeli 'Jews' look more European than the Palestinians they're supplanting? Clue - most of them.

As for the Palestinians electing terrorists to represent them, what about the Israelis electing terrorists to represent them? If it's ok to kill Palestinian civilians because they elected Hamas, why isn't it ok to kill Israeli 'civilians*' because they continue to elect Netanyahu?

You're the lying coward, Hasbara, with your incredibly powerful army slaughtering hundreds of civilians for racist reasons.

Hey, dipshit - you're not the member of some master race. There IS no master race. You've been bamboozled into believing a load of ahistorical horseshit so you'll be a willing participant in a vast criminal enterprise called Israel.

"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. These subtilised interpretations are highly manifold according to their nature and have almost nothing to do with the original text.

For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything 'chosen' about them."

TO THE EDITORS OF THE NEW YORK TIMES:

Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the ""Freedom Party"" (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.

The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections, and to cement political ties with conservative Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin’s political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represents.

Before irreparable damage is done by way of financial contributions, public manifestations in Begin’’s behalf, and the creation in Palestine of the impression that a large segment of America supports Fascist elements in Israel, the American public must be informed as to the record and objectives of Mr. Begin and his movement.

The public avowals of Begin’’s party are no guide whatever to its actual character. Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character; from its past actions we can judge what it may be expected to do in the future.

Attack on Arab Village

A shocking example was their behavior in the Arab village of Deir Yassin. This village, off the main roads and surrounded by Jewish lands, had taken no part in the war, and had even fought off Arab bands who wanted to use the village as their base. On April 9 (THE NEW YORK TIMES), terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village, which was not a military objective in the fighting, killed most of its inhabitants —— 240 men, women, and children —— and kept a few of them alive to parade as captives through the streets of Jerusalem. Most of the Jewish community was horrified at the deed, and the Jewish Agency sent a telegram of apology to King Abdullah of Trans-Jordan. But the terrorists, far from being ashamed of their act, were proud of this massacre, publicized it widely, and invited all the foreign correspondents present in the country to view the heaped corpses and the general havoc at Deir Yassin.

The Deir Yassin incident exemplifies the character and actions of the Freedom Party.

Within the Jewish community they have preached an admixture of ultranationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority. Like other Fascist parties they have been used to break strikes, and have themselves pressed for the destruction of free trade unions. In their stead they have proposed corporate unions on the Italian Fascist model.

During the last years of sporadic anti-British violence, the IZL and Stern groups inaugurated a reign of terror in the Palestine Jewish community. Teachers were beaten up for speaking against them, adults were shot for not letting their children join them. By gangster methods, beatings, window-smashing, and wide-spread robberies, the terrorists intimidated the population and exacted a heavy tribute.

The people of the Freedom Party have had no part in the constructive achievements in Palestine. They have reclaimed no land, built no settlements, and only detracted from the Jewish defense activity. Their much-publicized immigration endeavors were minute, and devoted mainly to bringing in Fascist compatriots.

Discrepancies Seen

The discrepancies between the bold claims now being made by Begin and his party, and their record of past performance in Palestine bear the imprint of no ordinary political party. This is the unmistakable stamp of a Fascist party for whom terrorism (against Jews, Arabs, and British alike), and misrepresentation are means, and a ""Leader State"" is the goal.

In the light of the foregoing considerations, it is imperative that the truth about Mr. Begin and his movement be made known in this country. It is all the more tragic that the top leadership of American Zionism has refused to campaign against Begin’’s efforts, or even to expose to its own constituents the dangers to Israel from support to Begin.

The undersigned therefore take this means of publicly presenting a few salient facts concerning Begin and his party; and of urging all concerned not to support this latest manifestation of fascism.

NOw, reading the comments on non-stop politics sites concern me more. On the RIght you have places like FR (ranked ~ 1000 by Alexa) calling for annihilation of the ME AND Russia. These people sit there with Rush Limbaugh on the radio and tap their approval on their keyboards day in and day out.

Then on  the LeFT (DU? ranked about 2000 on Alexa FWIW. ZH = #530 I know because it's on my toolbar) These people are just strange...mostly concerning themselves with gay rights* and shit like that. They also priase oBaMA for anything and everything like he's the favorite sports team.

What's worse? The Kadashian people that don't give a fuck or...RW'ers demanding their neo-con hasbara shit like rex here...or LW'er demanding Obama is awesome and everyone should be gay?

Totally crazy so I'm putting some tunes on and go work outside. It's a really nice day here in Dixie.

*I don't care who's gay or not (just don't do it around me) but if it becomes mandatory I'll have a big problem with that.

It's all so fucked up Chunga.  I spend alot of time bouncing around just to get different perspectives.  Most sites are just confirmation bias parties anyhow.

Not hard to see how divide and conquer works.  Or how religions can be used to further aggendas (internal or external).

It all adds up to a world that is going to look to blame someone when it all goes to shit.

Right? Being part of humanity it feels like a duty to try and do something about it before everything does go to shit. I've thought about it a lot and honestly have no clue what that is. Just "do unto others" I suppose. If people be nice to us we be nice to them. Other than that we'll just mind our own business.

Another datapoint of how heavily censored MSM is:

"As soon as you talk about Israel, it crystallizes all passions, with up to 20,000 or 30,000 comments sometimes after an article, of which we will only let 5% to 10% through," explained David Corchia, head of an online moderation company of which both Le Figaro and Liberation (French news publications) are clients.

Nothing like censoring 95% of comments in a "free" society, eh?
