Guest Post: Why Impeachment Is Necessary

The issue of impeachment is now no longer whispered about. Talk is prevalent and a recent poll indicated that 35% of the public believe the president should be impeached. Interestingly, the topic is being promoted more by Democrats than Republicans.
Tactical Impeachment Considerations
Democrats don’t truly believe the President should be impeached, but they see it as a chance, likely their only chance, to bolster their election possibilities this November. A recent CNN poll indicates that Romney would win in a landslide if the presidential election were repeated today. Maybe, maybe not, but the poll is indicative of the pressures all Democrat candidates are under.
Democrats have nothing to run on and there is little reason for their disillusioned base to turn out. The threat of impeachment would likely engage that base. Obama has been a major flop, no a disaster for the country and the Democrat Party. Maligning Republicans or somehow energizing the base is the only hope left for Democrats running in November. That is why they and Obama himself promote the idea of a coming impeachment.
Are Republicans dumb enough to fall for this ploy? Given prior history, this question is not a silly one. Anything is possible and Republicans have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. However, they are not moving in that direction. The grounds for impeachment are increasing. Obama seems to be going out of his way to enhance these probabilities. I also don’t believe it will happen. And that may be a huge tragedy for the country. No president has deserved impeachment more than the current one.
From a tactical standpoint, there is no reason for Republicans to hint about impeachment in advance of 2014 elections. Republicans are in the driver’s seat and only need to avoid major mistakes in order to achieve what could be a monstrous victory. Given the political calculus, it is natural for them to not risk the apparent landslide. It is in their best interests.
However, that is the central problem of politics today – it is not what is in the best interests of the country but in the best interests of the politicians that dictates what gets decided or done.
Strategic Impeachment Considerations
After this election, considerations for the next election — the presidential election of 2016 — will begin. The same tactical concerns will be raised. The same cowardice and self-interest is likely to prevail.
There is a deeper strategic consideration that should concern citizens and politicians. This issue should transcend parochial political interest and political advantage consideration. Not addressing impeachment threatens what is left of the Rule of Law and the Constitution. Not addressing impeachment ensures greater tyranny in the future.
The current president makes Richard Nixon look like a paragon of truth, integrity and honor in comparison. If Obama doesn’t qualify for impeachment, then nobody ever again will.
It is difficult to imagine worse violations of the Constitution, separation of powers and general dishonor of the office than this president has committed. Yet we assuredly will see worse by successors. Impeachment is necessary in order to preserve what little structure the Founders provided. A line in the sand must be drawn that says to successors where they dare not go. Without impeachment Obama’s acts serve as precedents. Future presidents will have immunity to repeat them and add their own variations and enhancements that further stretch the boundaries. The absence of action has the unintended effect of further defining presidential deviancy downward.
It doesn’t matter whether it is a Republican or Democrat, some other low life will gain office and build upon Obama’s violations. Defenders will cite concessions to Obama as precedents for such action. The need for impeachment has little to do with Obama (other than he has, up to now, been the worst offender). It is all about protecting what remains of the Rule of Law and The Constitution. Not impeaching Obama just provides a green light for future presidents to further corrupt the laws of the country and the office of the presidency.
Unless a principled stand is taken now, some future president’s behavior will create nostalgia for Obama. Like Richard Nixon, Obama’s behavior will seem trivial in comparison to what inevitably follows.
As right as it may be, impeachment will not happen unless some truly damaging news breaks through regarding the dozen or more alleged scandals associated with the current Administration. Unfortunately, that is unlikely given the utter corruption of the Department of Justice. The lack of action probably dooms the country.

Well son of a bitch, my real estate agent is also on the school board. I have been working my ass off to get the place up to par. The fucking taxes keep going up by a substantial margin and it is all to do with the school. Well, I've about had enough of that shit. Now they are going to buy 400 new Chromebooks and they just bought 400 Ipad2s a couple of years ago. Holy shit! It's not OK. My kids get no benefit and I bought them their Ipad instead of you having to pay for it.
Yeah, I can't find out when the Board of Review is for property taxes. I called and I guess it only happens once every three years. I did contact the assessor and he told me "well, yeah, and this and that and blah, blah, blah. That basically amounted to the fact that they can't lower the mill rate because they over spent. Now that is my fault? Fucks sakes, my Mom died a couple years back and I got the property. What a thrill that has been.
Maybe I have move back to where I grew up and bring some thunder because this spending has gone out of control. For example, the Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief makes $50,000 a year and lives in Michigan. I thought it was a volunteer fire department and for that matter your place would be burnt to the ground by the time anyone showed up.
This shit has to stop. They are stealing thousands of dollars from me. I would not mind paying for a service per se but this is full retard. I am the last motherfucker that they want showing up at their meetings. I will pull every procedural trick that I know and film it and then sue the fuckers if they fuck up.
Did you know that if you move to adjourn and as long as you have a second it forces a vote? It is not amendable nor debatable. It requires a 2/3rds majority but if you bring a few folks with you can shut these fulltards down. What that does is require them to have another meeting and have to make a public notice. You can actually shut them down at the call to order. Yes, they get a little bit of money for showing up but you can stop them from spending shitloads MOAR of yours.
I will call for "point of information" and that is my right to do so. That will stall the meeting right there. I really do not give a fuck and I will make it hell because they MUST provide that information that I request. I will not be popular but I do not give a shit. I wasn't popular when I was a Ron Paul guy either but I know how the game works now. I am a citizen and I demand some explanations. You are all ZH'ers so you know what I am going to get for a response. You already know that I will get the run around. I think I am better than them and I think most of you are too. I will get the paperwork off to you tonight via snail mail. I bought another floor last night and will be back this weekend to finish the game in the kitchen and that north room. I am going laminate with that and have 2/3rds of the kitchen done. I just keep running out of time and I have had some fires to put out on our Stuartco properties in Plymouth. We have three of them and if we lose one then we lose all three. That would be a tremendous financial blow to All Metro Lawn and Snow LLC so I log a lot of miles between everything that needs to be done. Our fuel bill alone for last month was $9000 and that did not include me driving to Wisconsin! You have to love small businesses though. Looks like a huge expenditure for the 400 new Chromebooks. Didn't they just buy a bunch of Ipad2 a short time ago? Even my kids can't break those so what happened to those units? I bring it up because my children get no benefit at all from me paying my taxes in Wisconsin and it is simply not fair. I can't really think of any benefit that I get for some of the highest taxes in the United States. It is not a recreational property unless you consider working untill 3 AM on some flooring or whatever else and then getting up at 6:30 AM to keep on going after driving all the way there the night before. I would love to see how the financial bonding was done for the new high school if you have a copy. It must have been a backloaded loan otherwise why are my taxes continually rising? As a school board member, if you can find a copy of the fiduciary agreement and forward that to me I would appreciate it because I need to see what is going on.
I contacted a Mr Norquist who is the private contractor assessor for Burnett, Washburn and Sawyer counties and he indicated that I would need to appear before the township board of review if I want reassesed property. The current assessment is far above the price we are asking for the property. That is not fair either. I think you are on the correct track to question some of these expenses and I appreciate that fact. If you need me to come speak as a taxpaying citizen on your behalf then I will do so. I would assume that you use Robert's rules of order to run your school board meetings and given my experience, I know how to manipulate a meeting after two Ron Paul campaigns as a State Delegate and former GOP officer. I only need a second to force the board to do what I want it to do and I have that second. I do not want to have to do that though but if my concerns are not addressed then I will.
So let's talk about the school stuff in case the place does not sell this year. How can anyone think that it is fair for me to pay what I do for a property I don't need or really use I am going renew with you because you have done a better job thus far then the previous agency did and we have mutual friends who highly recommended you. I will continue on with what I am doing at the real estate in question and I will renew with. However, as a school board member, I will be watching and right now I am not happy with what I see going on. It would appear that you agree as well. We just can't afford it and the spending has to stop. We are just going to have to make do with whatever is on hand. Unless the roof is leaking on the new 30 million dollar school that my kids do not use then vote NO every time on silly and exorbitant expenditures. Nice one on the one bid for snowplowing by the way. I saw that you caught that one as well. I never saw that bid advertised so it was it was like a no bid deal and I am glad that you said "no".
If they won't impeach Roberts for usurping legislative authority by re-writing ACA, they have no authority of principle to impeach OBarry.

I am not sure people thinking Obama is the problem get it. If you get rid of BO, you get rid of Valerie Jarrett, Michelle, her mother, and possibly Eric Holder: the people running the country while BO is out giving speechs, playing golf, and watching ESPN. It may be more important from a constitutional stand point to get rid of those four than even BO; BO may just be the +1.
I don't think BO should be impeached then for breaking his oath to uphold the consitution as much as he should be impeached for letting others destroy the Constitution and his being so apathetic about it. I think BO's problem is the bureaucracy is running him instead of vice versa.

d) if we leave Obama in office, and beat him and his 'care' like rented mules during the run-up to the election, the dems could take a most historic loss in '14,
e) we all know the Republicans, and I'm one of them - but I don't feel this way, only care about their own re-election chances and not one of them has the balls to start the fire, and finally
f) almost any Dem would fire away at impeaching the fraud in chief, but only if it would guarantee them a 100% chance of re-election.

The coverage of "Watergate 40 years after" that aired on PBS got me thinking about how President Nixon did not resign right away after five men were arrested for trying to break into the offices of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate hotel and office complex. It took a long time for the dots to be connected and the temperature to rise. A comparison of the times, 1972 and 2012, and how society has changed leads me to ponder some of the issues that brought about his demise.
I can state without a doubt that a President would no longer have to hire "burglars" to break into an opponent's headquarters, the technology of today is far more sophisticated. Today a President with his own White House propaganda machine, and a few well placed lies or misleading information placed out on Sunday talk shows could have the same effect on an election that skullduggery would of had in the past.
