The Only Chart You Will Need To Trade Russian Sanctions
US and European financials faded notably after Europe and then US unveiled new sanctions against Russia today. Most notably, the decision to sanction Russia's largest banks (and ban trading and capital markets access) has ramifications for the global financial system's stability given the increasingly inter-connected nature of the world. For that reason, we thought Bloomberg Briefs' chart of the most exposed banking systems by nation to any systemic issues in Russia would be useful.
As Maxime Sbaihi reports,
About 74 percent of foreign banks’ claims on Russia originated from Europe in the first quarter, according to the Bank for International Settlements.
French banks had the most claims ($47 billion), followed by the U.S. ($27 billion) and Italy ($26 billion).
Italian banks appeared to be the most exposed in the percentage of the country’s total foreign claims, of those reporting data.

With Europe set to wake up to Portugal banking system imploding after BES headlines late today, we are sure Italy's and France's banks can handle the additional risk-off...

Banks are 100% insolvent. Nothing more to say. Russia will be the excuse.
The oligarchs are desperate for a war aren't they? Morons. Russia is going to school us if we don't watch it.
Throat cancer..... lol. How timely. Can't speak now, eh?
"On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer any questions and invoke my Fifth Amendment privilege to remain silent. And my doctor wrote a note that says I have throat cancer."
I want my MTV.
I want my money for nothing.
Global Financial Architecture and Economic Systems on Verge of Collapse
You are chicks for free!
They should use bowling pins instead of bars for that chart. We'll soon see who is bowling for dollars.
Domino's
Just don't tell Barry US exports have gone up 17% since the "sanctions", over the last 90 days...
Surely, there has to be a kitchen open somewhere, so Barry can go fuck up another cup of coffee.
WAR.
Lots of hand waving, throwing dust up in the air, poo flinging, grunting and nose picking by the U.S. and Euro(peeing) leaders. Are we watching Planet of the Apes or Western diplomacy? I'm not sure anymore.
By the way, do you know why gorillas have such big nostrils? because they have fat fingers.
No need to sink to insulting Gorillas, the rest ok.
Pretty amazing watching this unfold. Usa has a big eared jizz swilling douchebag out there stammering and stuttering. Europeeings have what looks like a pedophile, Von Rumpboy stammering and stuttering and Russia has Putin who very clearly says little but is swinging a big bat.
Putin doesn't need too much more time to finish dumping US treasuries and other US/EU assets. Once Russia is done with that they could very easily just announce a mass default on all debt held by Western banks. The result would be just as destructive as a nuke.
He doesn't even have to do it. Just hinting at it (à la Draghi) will start the Deeper Depression.
We got the Fed.
We don't need no stinkin' sanctions to screw us up.
OSK got slammed today. I would be a buyer.
This is Twilight Zone level madness.
The US a drowining man clutching at Rattlers.
Germany is thinking...here we go again...a war that hits Europe with US oligarchs thinking they are safe in their armchairs at home.
The desperation of the US is palpable....meaning things must be much much worse for them than understood, for them to be this desperate, to act so stupidly in everything.
Giving so many weak pretenses, weaker than there normal false flag inventions.... the USA almost become like Japan, delcaring war with no reason, except self interest.
And yet - the US can be quickly choked to death on the energy front by any large oponent.
Wonder if Europe is keen to turn the continent into an ash pile again, to help the US protect its dollar?
Course not. Russia will succeed in the long game because noone in Europe wants to ramp up military spending......and the Bundeswehr cannot recruit.....
Young Germans are too smart to play the cannojn fodder for bankster games. The Germans gave far too much over hundreds of years for the Red Schield to profit in killing German youth. Hopefully the Brits and others may learn.
People may say the Europeans cannot field and army and fight. They just know they are being used. The good thing, hopefully, is Putin and Russia feel the same way. Putin knows wars are a waste.
hell almost nobody in the Ukraine wants to join the military....they must rely on the Nazi Skinheads that brought Porky to power.....yesterday mothers gather to burn draft notices....Ukraine is living on borrowed time
This is why the Ukrainian Army kidnaps young men in the dead of night and drags them to "training" facilities. There, they are told that they must shoot the Eastern Ukrainians, (who by the way, are bringing the young starving soldiers food when they arrive in the East).
It is all Fucked Up Beyond All Comprehension!
"the Bundeswehr cannot recruit....." after more spin and lies from the MSM countries will introduce the draft again if necessary.
In ukraine it is acceptable (to the oligarchs) to draft men and send them straight to war with little training and no wages.
In europe i hope the draft would lead to mass revolt.
Come winter, I don't see the Ukraine army fancying it any more.
Von Rumpboy
Von Rumpboy is the equivalent of your poodle concentration camp guard whose bravery comes from a US gun. Given power becomes a monster, without power a cowering simpering pervert masturbating away in the corner, scared of his own shadow.
exports 17% since the "sanctions", BP shipping our gas out of Texas.... LONG LIVE KING GEORGE. We did overthrow the King 264 years ago? Oh BP owns SCOTUS on deep water Horizon..... taxpayers LUV thes Kleptocrats.
small pawns move until automn coming.
Best way for Russia to retalitate would be to stop servicing these $700 bn of debt... no default, but just freeze the whole thing...
Putin can laugh all the way to the....bank.....195 nations are tied up in all that and it will be one hell of an ordeal to sanction all of them.....GOOD LUCK USA! youll need every drop of it and then some
It is hard to believe Obama keeps beating the drums of war. In reality America has few military options in Russia's backyard unless it has the backing of a full and enthusiastic NATO and that is very unlikely. Europe has reason to be unexcited about a possible long and expensive conflict.
While still trying to recover from a recession Europe would face fuel shortages and a massive spike in the price of natural gas. Currently Russia supplies much of the gas used in Europe, this gives Putin a great deal of leverage. If an actual ground attack were to occur few see the Russians as likely to rollover as other armies have when America approaches. More on this subject in the article below.
http://brucewilds.blogspot.com/2014/07/putin-holds-all-cards.html
To be sure, I seriously doubt that Putin is gonna sit with his thumb up his butt (like Saddam Hussein) while the US/NATO conducts a military force buildup...
Not easy for Europe to fight a war without energy.
sounds like the cue for Germany to exit the EU and undo itself of the moronic ECB with the criminal Draghi at the helm.
in the age of fiat pumping and debt equals asset, I don't think these figures matter anymore.
Its one big happy Oligarchy family and what gets mismatched on the public ledger bears no relation to what gets hatched and then "catched" in the Caymanista ledgers; which is what really counts.
As those ledgers are truly uber capitalist and transnational.
We will all jawbreak in front of media about public debt, and bang the table with the proverbial shoe at the UN, but we will all whisper and smile about Caymanista profits in the private uber cocktail receptions around the globe.
Thats the fundamental difference between the Nikita K vs Eisenhower and the Putin vs Western Oligarchy age.
The rage in Ukraine stays on the morne plain of Donetsk full of dead debris. The pain in Spain or Argentina falls mainly on the unemployed and unpaid.
Both will increase as will the cash and carry to Virgin Island banks.
Bond Vigliantes (BV) are not sleeping. They just fear the EC printing press to punch deep. But each day what have been palced in the markets are some of the best risk/reward trades.
Will of EC to take BVs seriously is exactly what the BVs want and US backing EC in the Bond Fight is a pipe dream.
WHAT IF:
What if tomorrow Russia announced that starting immediately, it would accept payment for oil, natural gas and other resources ONLY in Rubles, Yuan or gold, with all payments due prior to delivery?
Europe would have 2 choices: 1.) abandon all of the U.S.-imposed sanctions OR 2.) freeze this coming winter. Which would you choose?
The people of Europe are sick and tired of the U.S. dictating to the rest of the world, both monetarily and militarily.
As an American I am saddened to say that the economic and foreign policies of the U.S. government are completely INSANE !!!
You don't get it, what is behind everything: Get Russia out of Europe.
To deny a united and peaceful continental Europe for 200 years has been the politics of the City of London and New York!
It is in Russia's interest, to have good ties with Europe. Because Russia is part of Europe, USrael is not!
So any sanctions affecting European-Russian relations are playing into the hands of Europe's enemy, angloamerican USrael.
Therefore Russia will try to avoid sanctions as long as possible, because it knows, if it enters the cycle, the Zionists have already won.
.....
USrael is catching two flies with one hit: it also damages the Euro as alternative to the $.
If the EU shall make any sense, it must leave it's vassal status for USrael behind and follow the interests of the European nations. And Russia is a part of Europe. USrael is not. Ami-sheeple go home.
