Moscow Stock Exchange Breaks - Trading Halted

Tyler Durden's picture

No reasons given but Moscow Stock Exchange has just suspended trading with no reasons specified...

One can't help but wonder if this is another 'sanction' that was not officially described by President Obama and Jack Lew...

One glimpse at the following chart of Russian stocks today and one wonders if the West needed to arrest the gains that their "costs" had imposed...

They should require the Europeans to pay for their gas in ... Roubles! That way they have to buy roubles. But they can't buy them from Russian banks, because they can't deal with those banks because of sanctions! So they have to go scratching around the rest of the world for roubles. The rouble instantly becomes the world's strongest currency, q.e.d.

Just a few zealots -huh?...

I've been watching the millions killed collectively in the Middle East these last 13 years based on abject lies my government keeps feeding me and I certainly don't see the "majority" in the U.S. helping to turn the corner yet and reversing the situation by refusing to pay taxes that feed Israel' and the U.S. war machine -so until that happens your argument rings rather hollow!...

When WWIII is complete with a nuclear exchange between East that the West is sure to initiate it will be too late.

Hope to see you, friends and family at the march in Washington D.C. this weekend to demonstrate how the majority wants it's change!  If 20,000 show up I'll be surprised.  We need more like 2 million that say they aren't leaving in order to make it stop!

The USA has checks and balances built in to the government however these days government ignores the rule of law and does what ever the hell they want, fascism reigns and the dance towards dictatorship is well under way.

The issue now is all the Republicans, which were once a balance to the march towards progressive communism and the media, are a bunch of pussy, bitches afraid of their own shadow and the color of someones skin, now rules their brain like a Sacculina castrated parasite host.

how many parties are represented in Congress? hell, even the Tea Party has not found a way out of the Republican "tent". you have the only political system in the world where voters are 90% satisfied with their congressman and only 10% satisfied with Congress as institution / in total

the only comparable situation in Europe's history? the "voting with your feet" feudal age where peasants left the baronies for the cities (damn traitors, btw)

"The issue now is all the Republicans," look both parties take donations from the same corporations.

He who pays the piper calls the tune, so both parties just do as they're told, laws are made to exclude competition even down to crushing small farms with onerous regulations that are expensive for small businesses to comply with but no problem for giant corporations with their legions of lawyers.

The MSM of course promotes the fallacy of a real choice, sweep the buggers out of power if you don't like them and get ... more of the same old same.

There was a recent study that showed laws are not apssed for the benefit of the vast majority of the people but giant corporations/donors.

even the Tea Party has not found a way out of the Republican "tent"...

The three branch system with the various term lengths for members of respective offices staggered to minimize knee-jerk reactions to sky-is-falling emotional appeals typically serves US very well.  Our Constitution is subject to and in fact does go through change without breaking.  Our current president is only exercising an authority previous presidents began, i.e. using Executive Orders to circumvent access by the people to the rudder of the ship of state.  By his being head of the ever expanding list of "Departments", and having more "czars" exercising control over vast swaths of rights previously held by sovereign people, he, and the office he currently occupies, have grown to threaten the Judiciary into believing they exist only as a rubber stamp.

Our two party system for (s)electing individuals does prevent, (at least theoretically) a minority, (less than 50, greater than 33%) represented person from holding office thereby reducing the coalition / consensus turmoil that results in ill-advised legislation.

At least that’s the way it’s supposed to work when all (s)elected persons receiving remuneration from the government recognize their primary relationship is that of a volunteer, as no one in our country can be held in involuntary servitude, regardless of the pay one receives.  In addition, any person who receives proceeds from the government treasury is supposed to be subject to not only a higher standard of conduct but the highest standards of continued surveillance and scrutiny.  If one doesn’t like those terms, then GO HOME!

These measures were never meant to be used on sovereign individuals, only for those employed by the state for the benefit of the people!

That’s what I was taught anyway.

+1 for mentioning the Rule of Law. though one warning: you can't put the Rule of Law... into law. because the "Rule of Law" is a more fragile, ephemeral thing than a law

in fact, the "Rule of Law" often begins with not applying unjust laws. and for that you need a lot of things, beginning with an informed, involved public and a good judiciary, followed by sometimes the willingness to make constitutional amendments, which are often for the protection of minorities and the "underdog"
