There are miltants on both sides of the barricade for sure. So there is plenty of guilt to pass around.
However, I do not excuse firing modern weapons at schools full of refugees and children. This begs the following ethical question: Is it OK to blow up civilans who are positioned as unwitting shields for munitions.
Now you and I come from a country with a government that says it is OK to drone a funeral or wedding party, human collateral damage, in the name of THE WAR ON T-E-R-R-O-R. The same government that says neither it nor Israel would ever commit a war crime. Impossible!

Banzai, placing munitions underneath civilians in order to protect the munitions is a war crime.
Why would Hamas even do this unless they knew the other side was hesitant to destroy the munitions because of the civilians? Hamas isn't just some shadowy group running around hiding rockets & arms in civilian homes, it is the majority party in the government of Gaza.
They've even erected a monument in the town square, not to some statesman or some idealistic belief system like a normal government might.

I'm one of WB7's biggest fans, however in this instance we're gonna have to disagree. nmewn is right on the idea of using an inordinate amount of force to hammer your attacker. Israel has for years, treated the Palestinians with much disrespect and arbitrary and indescriminent force. They have brought much of this conflict on themselves, but when Hamas started throwing rockets into Israel, what were they supoosed to do, stand there and take it?

Try looking up the history of the Balfour Declaration, and begin to fit the pieces together with some semblance of a balanced outlook.

I havent really studied the technical aspect of this and I should/will. My understanding is that the rockets that Hamas shoots off are more display than accuracy. But you would not want to be hit by one. And I was surprised that this I.D. suddenly became such a success.
