US Manufacturing PMI Misses By Most In 11 Months, Employment Plunges, Blames Russia & Gaza

Tyler Durden's picture

US Manufacturing PMI in July dropped to 3-month lows at 55.8, missing expectations by the most since Augiust 2013 as employment growth moderated to its slowest in 13 months. The 'excuse' this time - Russia and Gaza.

PMI tumbled...

and employment plunged...

Don't worry, we have an excuse for that:

“The one area of concern is the slacking pace of employment growth signalled by the survey, which suggests companies have become increasingly cautious about taking on new staff given growing uncertainties, such as the escalating situations in Russia and Gaza.

“With overseas worries likely to hit demand in key export markets, and exports having already stagnated in the past two months, overseas trade looks likely to continue to act as a drag on the US economy.“

Thanks for the reminder. I need to start a rogue twitter account called Gartman's double chin to espouse less than useless financial info.

As for this I would have thought Russia and GAza would be bullish for the US - more foreign aid in the form of corporate welfare for makers of tanks, planes, and ordinance for precision flattening of neighborhoods.

PMI Still well over 50.

And who, at this late date, really thinks anyone cares about employment numbers?  They care about cap-ex.  The kind of cap-ex that's used to deploy stock buy-backs and dividend hikes.

Blames Russia & Gaza

I thought that we were making all the weapons destroying Gaza.  And to fight Russia, we have deployed hundreds of CIA and FBI agents and unknown number of Academi/Blackwater mercenaries.

About 400 elite mercenaries from the notorious US private security firm Academi (formerly Blackwater) are taking part in the Ukrainian military operation against anti-government protesters in southeastern regions of the country, German media reports.

A National Victory Nearly Ten Years in the Making!

July 31, 2014 (Washington D.C.) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) will phase out the use of genetically engineered (GE) crops to feed wildlife and ban neonicotinoid insecticides from all wildlife refuges nationwide by January 2016. The FWS decision, announced via internal memoranda obtained by Center for Food Safety (CFS), follows a longstanding grassroots, legal, and policy campaign by CFS and Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) to end the harmful practices. This announcement builds on a previously announced decision to eliminate neonicotinoid pesticides from refuges in the Pacific Region.

Forget the detail and look at the trend which is marked by poor leadership, poor quality of new jobs, poor quality of data, news and commentary in the mainstream press and poor outcomes in just about every facet of the economy.

Even those who have supposedly made more from the markets are poor because they live in fear for their lives and wealth as they realise that the current state of affairs cannot continue and they will not escape the process known as reversion to the mean.

All in the golden afternoon

Full leisurely we glide;

For both our oars, with little skill

By little armes are plied,

While little hands make vain pretense

Our wanderings to guide.

Thus begins the tale of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Now indulge me for a moment: imagine that those little arms and hands belong to the politicians and central bankers of this world, and you'll get a good idea of the predicament we're in. And the golden afternoon seems to be coming to an end.

US barely does any business with Russia. With regards to Gaza, business is booming for the fascist nazi's as they are supplying the hellfire missles and various ammo to kill/slaughter innocents. The whole dame US government is but a corrupt facade. They all need to be thrown out!

Actually, it was reported just a few days ago that U.S. EXPORTS to Russia INCREASED since sanctions were imposed on Russia.

I blame it ALL on Ronald McDonald !!!

BTW: Did anyone else read the report by the FDA which found that the hamburger served at McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, Taco Bell and other major fast-food chains contained finely ground SAW DUST, ie., WOOD. In their ingredients lists, it is variously called "cellulose", "methyl cellulose", and similar names - and is supposed used as a "binding and texturing agent". Nothing like WOODS CHIPS to give your burger a little extra texture !!!!

But no need to fret. Another FDA study published a few months ago revealed that the hamburg used in these same fast-food stores contained ONLY between 8% - 17% actual BEEF. McDonalds had the highest at 17%. BUT don't get too comfortable, since for this study the FDA classified "beef" as ANY part of a cow/steer - hooves, horns, intestines, crushed bone, brains and whatever.

Yummy !!!

Here's one for the employment issues, as if it weren't bad enough. Seems the "Patriot" act requires anti-terrorist screening for certain industries. And what happens when it just happens to extend beyond those certain industries?

Imagine - the "no fly" list goes to a "no job" list.
