This Ebola virus will mutate like all others so why are we introducing this into new environments? Borders and access to these locals need to be shut down. This goes against all common sense to leave these borders open to these countries with free passage of the afflicted. The only thing we have going for it is that when it does mutate it becomes slightly less deadly each time it mutates. The problem though is that it changes in ways where more people can become afflicted. In other words it may go airborne. Where am I at all wrong in this assessment?

This isn't the Ebola My Daddy knew.

Over 100 Aid Workers have contracted this; not like in the past, when a much lower percentage became positive for the disease.

Higher false negatives than in past outbreaks.

Very high virulence with high death rates.

With proper conditions can live up to 21 days outside the body.

Studies hint that this version can be aerolized; not just through direct contact.

It is one mean MF; hope it can be contained.

Well this little ebola bugger is .00004 inches long.

Here's what one ebola virus looks like on the head of a pin:

http://www.evi.com/q/.00004_inches_to_microns

One droplet of sweat or body fluids is considerably larger than the head of a pin; remember just one virus has to hit your skin and then it goes to town!

Is this virus difficult to contain. You betcha!  Was it a good idea to let it hitchhike from Liberia to Atlanta, Ga.? Nope!

Emory Hospital has done the people of the US a huge disservice [I've toned down my rant against the imbecility of bringing the virus to the US].

Read an article back in 2005 or so about the "Support Our Troops" mantra.  Author's point was that the cliche served two opposing views: one was to "support our troops" in the ongoing waging of war; the other was "support our troops" by bringing them home and evacuating the theater.

So...what is the "angle" on the ebola virus?  Is it "ebola is a real threat and a 'tipping point' event that might jump-start the world into a catastrophic tailspin?"  Or is it "ebola is a false threat and another fear catalyst for increased central control and further erosion of liberty?"

"How much money do you need from us so we can feel safe again?"  shouted the people while listening to Lois Griffin as she ran for mayor of Quohog.

Her speech consisted of  "9/11"..."The terrorist are..."  "9/11"... "9/11"  as the crowd cheered wildly and she ended up winning in a landslide.

Yes this is a ridiculous animated series which we use to call cartoons but has essentially been the messaging the American people have been targeted with since, well 9/11.

Ebola caused 827 deaths out of how many people in the world?  How many in Africa?  Statistically, if this were US citizens and medical coverage wouldn't we be told it was "statistically insignificant"?

Remember how the worst Swine flu "ever" threatened us a few years ago?

Recently "Hot Car Deaths".  While tragic for certain there have been somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 this year.  20 children out of how many children currently reside in the US.  Statistically it is considered an anaomoly.  A painful one if you are affected by it but insignificant by every measure our government uses to justify NOT doing something.   Yet there have been articles imploring auto makers to "do something about it".  Unbelievable really when seemingly intelligent people want the auto maker to be responsible for installing some device, what exacltly are they expected to do?  Government and manufacturer's cannot fix stupid (if they could then they should start with themselves) or ill intent and shouldn't be tasked to do so.  They have a hard enough time keeping the status quo which isn't above average to begin with.  To require more measures of them to insulate the individual from personal responsibility is preposterous.

How many US citizens are actually infected with AIDS? I don't know the exact number, perhaps someone could educate me on that but when taken as a percentage of 350 million population, any other disease would be considered "statistically insignificant".    These are not my personal sentiments but what I believe the narrative would be were it not AIDS.  I'm not entirely sure why AIDS is so scary and gets so much publicity when it is easily preventable.  Much more avoidable than cancer, diabetes, dementia...  Please,  if I'm wrong about the statistical ratio then I would appreciate the education and would really like to avoid a vitriolic attack on my ignorance concerning.  It's purely innocent in natrue and there is no agenda in what I put forth.  All too often when a hot button topic like AIDS is questioned it seems to bring out the very worst in people as they "educate".  No one has ever been successfully educated while being insulted, pummeled and accused of the worst sort of human traits.  I don't need the Strother Martin notion on how "to get my mind right."  Facts are the most useful tool when intending to educate.

The US agenda, as currently constructed, spends more time and American Taxpayer money shaping, advancing, "protecting", rebuilding, aiding the African and Asian continents than they do on the taxpayer's homeland.  Oddly at election time politicians spend most of their time telling us how bankrupt America is concerning education, healthcare, infrastructure, energy etc...Once in office however the efforts, energy, attention and dollars are spent furthering the agenda using tactics around  guilt, shame, insults, mendacity, threats etc... shaping and conditioning the American Taxpayer to willingly accept less bang for their tax dollar and to continue ignoring outright theft of the Treasury and view it as the normal course of doing business in DC and getting use to feeling helpless as it pertains to curtailing  theft, waste or misappropriation, whatever the case may be.

What should be alarming yet gets very little media scrutiny or government action is the meteoric rise in cases of TB over the last couple of years.  There are some reports, Greenwood, South Carolina for instance, that suggest government officials are actually trying to avoid publicizing or dare I say cover up as best they can the incidents of TB outbreaks.   I won't even hazard to guess as to what the motivations are behind the US governments decisions.   In my opinion logical decision making seemingly disappeared long ago.  I'm sure Feinstein could explain to me that if I knew what she knew then I would understand and support the choices our political leaders make and trust them as it would be unpatriotic to do otherwise.

Why does the CDC own a patent on Ebola 'invention?'

(NaturalNews) The U.S. Centers for Disease Control owns a patent on a particular strain of Ebola known as "EboBun." It's patent No. CA2741523A1 and it was awarded in 2010. You can view it here. (Thanks to Natural News readers who found this and brought it to our attention.)

Patent applicants are clearly described on the patent as including:

The Government Of The United States Of America As Represented By The Secretary, Department Of Health & Human Services, Center For Disease Control.

The patent summary says, "The invention provides the isolated human Ebola (hEbola) viruses denoted as Bundibugyo (EboBun) deposited with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC"; Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America) on November 26, 2007 and accorded an accession number 200706291."

It goes on to state, "The present invention is based upon the isolation and identification of a new human Ebola virus species, EboBun. EboBun was isolated from the patients suffering from hemorrhagic fever in a recent outbreak in Uganda."

It's worth noting, by the way, that EboBun is not the same variant currently believed to be circulating in West Africa. Clearly, the CDC needs to expand its patent portfolio to include more strains, and that may very well be why American Ebola victims have been brought to the United States in the first place. Read more below and decide for yourself...

Harvesting Ebola from victims to file patents

From the patent description on the EboBun virus, we know that the U.S. government:

1) Extracts Ebola viruses from patients.

2) Claims to have "invented" that virus.

3) Files for monopoly patent protection on the virus.

To understand why this is happening, you have to first understand what a patent really is and why it exists. A patent is a government-enforced monopoly that is exclusively granted to persons or organizations. It allows that person or organization to exclusivelyprofit from the "invention" or deny others the ability to exploit the invention for their own profit.

It brings up the obvious question here: Why would the U.S. government claim to have "invented" Ebola and then claim an exclusively monopoly over its ownership?

U.S. Government claims exclusive ownership over its "invention" of Ebola

The "SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION" section of the patent document also clearly claims that the U.S. government is claiming "ownership" over all Ebola viruses that share as little as 70% similarity with the Ebola it "invented":

...invention relates to the isolated EboBun virus that morphologically and phylogenetically relates to known members filoviridae... In another aspect, the invention provides an isolated hEbola EboBun virus comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of: a) a nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1; b) a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1 under stringent conditions; and c) a nucleotide sequence that has at least 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, or 99% identity to the SEQ ID NO:

1. In another aspect, the invention provides the complete genomic sequence of the hEbola virus EboBun.

Ebola vaccines and propagation

The CDC patent goes on to explain it specifically claims patent protection on a method for propagating the Ebola virus in host cells as well as treating infected hosts with vaccines:

In another aspect, the invention provides a method for propagating the hEbola virus in host cells comprising infecting the host cells with the inventive isolated hEbola virus described above, culturing the host cells to allow the virus to multiply, and harvesting the resulting virions.

In another aspect, the invention provides vaccine preparations, comprising the inventive hEbola virus, including recombinant and chimeric forms of the virus, nucleic acid molecules comprised by the virus, or protein subunits of the virus. The invention also provides a vaccine formulation comprising a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of the inventive hEbola virus described above, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

No medical reason to bring Ebola to the United States

This patent may help explain why Ebola victims are being transported to the United States and put under the medical authority of the CDC. These patients are carrying valuable intellectual property assets in the form of Ebola variants, and the Centers for Disease Control clearly desires to expand its patent portfolio by harvesting, studying and potentially patenting new strains or variants.

Dr. Bob Arnot, an infectious disease specialist who spent time on the ground in developing nations saving lives, recently told Judge Jeanine, "There is no medical reason to bring them here, especially when you see how well Dr. Bradley was." (2)

There is, however, an entirely different reason to bring Ebola patients to America: so they can be exploited for medical experiments, military bioweapons harvesting or intellectual property claims.

Surely, medical authorities at Emory University and the CDC are working hard to save the lives of the two patients who have been transported to the U.S. But they are also pursuing something else at the same time: an agenda of isolating, identifying and patenting infectious disease agents for reasons that we can only imagine.

Only hoping to save lives?

On one hand, it's worth pointing out that the CDC's patent on Ebola is at least partially focused on methods for screening for Ebola and treating Ebola victims with drugs or vaccines. This seems like a worthwhile precaution against an infectious disease that clearly threatens lives.

On the other hand, why the patent? Patenting Ebola seems as odd as trying to patent cancer or diabetes. Why would a government organization claim to have "invented" this infectious disease and then claim a monopoly over its exploitation for commercial use?

Does the CDC hope to collect a royalty on Ebola vaccines? Is it looking to "invent" more variants and patent those too?

Make no mistake that billions of dollars in profits are at stake in all this. Shares of Tekmira surged over 11% last Friday as pressure was placed on the FDA to fast-track Ebola vaccine trials the company has set up. "Health campaigners have started a petition which has already been signed by approximately 15,500 people on change.org pressurizing FDA to approve the drug in the minimum possible time frame," reports BidnessEtc.com. (3)

Carefully scripted medical theater

With this, we start to see the structure of the elaborate medical theater coming together: A global pandemic panic, a government patent, the importation of Ebola into a major U.S. city, an experimental vaccine, the rise of a little-known pharmaceutical company and a public outcry for the FDA to fast-track the vaccine.

If Act II stays on course, this medical theater might someday involve a "laboratory accident" in a U.S. lab, the "escape" of Ebola into the population, and a mandatory nationwide Ebola vaccination campaign that enriches Tekmira and its investors while positioning the CDC with its virus patents as the "savior of the American people."

Yes, we've heard this music before, but the last time around it was called Swine Flu.

The formula is always the same: create alarm, bring a vaccine to market, then scare governments into buying billions of dollars worth of vaccines they don't need.

Define "credible" these daze...

Mon, 08/04/2014 - 11:48 | 5044017 novictim
novictim's picture

"credible" is a linguistic contraction of the words "crazy" and "edible".  More properly marked with an apostrophe, "cr'edible" was first used by French biologists to describe brain eating cannibals of Papua New Guinea who contracted Kuru "and liked it". Kuru is a prion disease and may have started in monkey's who place un-shelled nuts up their bung holes.

So, when using the word "credible" it should be spoken using a thick French accent.

In modern parlance, credible usually implies that someone is either serving up infectious brain material or eating it, or more generally, that an idea or claim is like eating a bowl of steaming monkey anus.

There is a new strain of Ebola spreading. It's called EFF, Ebola Fear Fever. Symptoms include irrational fear, prone to misjudge and misunderstand medical information and may believe outlandish theories of the virus's origins.

I think I may have caught it. It seems to me that the US and Germany have the facilities to keep patients quarantined with sufficient safety but isn't it possible by introducing the virus into a new environment it could mutate in unpredictable ways. Even if this were a slim possibility, why would you risk it given the fact that we have other means to treat these patients without the added risk of mutation? It's going to mutate anyway, so why introduce ot into a different environment. The head of the CDC said yesterday that the best way to combat Ebola was at the source...in West Africa, so again why bring them here?

Am I rational or have I contracted EFF?

Was there Ebola in your youth?

Mon, 08/04/2014 - 15:44 | 5045249 notadouche

I've had as much Ebola in my youth as any other typical American.  More troublesome and disgusting was the constant battle with pinworms I had as a toddler which was not that uncommon occurrence among the extreme poor living in a ragged trailer home  way out in the boondocks.

I do however only enjoy hyperbole when used in a humorous situation.  I fucking hate it when attempting to engage in intellectual and important debate.  Validity goes right out the window the minute hyperbole is used.  Hyperbole and intellectual dishonesty.  The usual tactic used to "scare" folks into falling in line and getting on board  with a desired narrative.

Are you old enough to remember Felix the Cat?  It was about this genius cat that had this bag of tricks containing and endless array of gadgets to get him out of all sorts of jams.   Politically the bag of tricks is becoming so transparent and tired.  Seems as though everyone from ZH posters to talking heads/politicians,media elites and zealots love to use hyperbole in order to try an illicit shame, guilt, empathy, and worst of all consensus of thought.  Certainly the favorite tool used when talking about the US Govt stated wars like the "War on Terror", "War on Drugs" etc..

Now I could submit to you that in order to avoid the "throwing up blood in a NY City restaurant causing mass panic" scenario that was put forth and one you seemingly empathize with, then in order to solve several problems we should go back to having all immigrants pass through an Ellis Island type facility.  Quarantine for 3 months in order to prove no disease and are of no danger, medically, mentally or terrorist minded, before allowing anyone to even think of coming to the US to start the process of citizenship.  Set up another Ellis Island on the Southwest Border of the US and even along the North order to keep an eye on those pesky Canadians.  That should satisfy all concerned.  We will legally process and allow those choosing to move to US an orderly and organized process to do so.  We could check the box on our "war on terrorism, "war on drugs" and now the "war on infectious disease" ensuring  the public is safe from unchecked and devastating spread of communicable infectious diseases like Ebola.  See how easy that was.

For those that always make the case that "we are all immigrants" when supporting unfettered immigration to the US, this should be ok.  Its' not asking anything more of todays immigrant than was asked of "our immigrant ancestors".  This  was one of the prices paid by all of our immigrant ancestors when they decided to migrate to the US.   The politicians should be able to sell and justify it under the guise of the "War on Terror" and "The War on Drugs" which we know the budget exist under either "War"  to build any facility we want when justified by "national security" and "keeping us safe from terror and or drugs".

I'm being facetious but the more I started fleshing this idea out the more I'm surprised some government jackhole or group hasn't submitted this plan as a viable solution.  I wouldn't be surprised if deep in the bowels of some government department something similar to this wasn't "run up the flagpole".  I suppose I would even agree that it is as least as good than ignoring and or doing nothing.  Could be the pain meds kicking in so I can't be sure.

I know you are trying to show the absurdity of the situation but the reality is there will be plenty of people that watch this news cycle for days at a time will allow them the means to be overcome with psychosomatic symptoms.  Big Pharma knows this all too often.  Otherwise what would be the point in advertising all of this medications to patients that have zero ability to prescribe for themselves?  Who spends billions annually on marketing to a user that has no choice in the decision to prescribe a certain medication?  Companies that market to children as they know the kids will pester their parents which will put the parent in a position to just give up after a while and buy the damned thing.

Same tactic used by Big Pharma only they added an extra incentive by paying doctors a "kickback' if you will for hitting prescribing quotas.  Thats like shooting fish in a barrel.

The power of suggetion, subliminal messaging...all the components are there.  Now all we have to do is sit back and wait on the policy the government is gearing towards by engaging in this behavior.  We should know before year end if not sooner.

Now you have to ask yourself WHY the government not just permits but AIDS and SUPPORTS the invasion of our nation by those infected with, among dozens of other DANGEROUS COMMUNICABLE DISEASES:
HIV, Incurable TB, bacterial pneumonia, chagas, chikungunya virus, Scabies, Whooping Cough, BED BUGS, Chicken pox, EBOLA.

The ONLY reason the African from Liberia who was an "American" as is his wife and 4 children didn't make it back to the US was he DIED before he could board the plane,
"Patrick Sawyer, 40, was planning to return home to Coon Rapids, Minnesota, to be reunited with his children for two of his daughters’ birthdays in August."

This increased arrogance and self-confidence, on the part of the Enemies of white people is impressive. It tells one that they feel they are VERY CLOSE to their end game. And whites bogged down with debt and trying to keep their heads above water, of being mesmerized by the glass toilet and all the crap it portrays such as the Kardashians, Real Housewives of Tel Aviv, NFL NBA etc phablets the whole gamut of shiny baubles that has ALLOWED THIS ALL TOO HAPPEN. Just like the "Greatest (sic) Generation" Who were too busy pursuing filthy lucre and personal pleasure to pay attention when the crowd that owns Wall Street and Hollywood changed our immigration laws in 1965.

Well they say that all that it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. And that is what the whites have done NOTHING. And for this they face, whether they realize it or not, EXTINCTION.

are you sure about that? consider the following...

"Despite repeated assurances that the Ebola virus cannot be transmitted via airborne particles, the CDC is concerned about that very outcome and has directed airline staff to take steps to prevent the spread of “infectious material through the air.”

While Ebola is highly contagious, the risk of a full blown pandemic has been downplayed by health authorities because, according to our current understanding of the virus, Ebola, “is not airborne and is transmitted through contact with bodily fluids, including sweat and blood.”

However, with concerns rising that the current strain of the virus, which is the worst in history and has killed 887 people, could in fact be airborne, the Centers For Disease Control has implemented steps to prevent its spread via international air travel.

A CDC advisory entitled Interim Guidance about Ebola Virus Infection for Airline Flight Crews, Cleaning Personnel, and Cargo Personnel reveals that the federal agency is concerned about airborne contamination.

The advisory urges airline staff to provide surgical masks to potential Ebola victims in order “to reduce the number of droplets expelled into the air by talking, sneezing, or coughing.” (emphasis mine).

The CDC is also directing airline cleaning personnel to, “not use compressed air, which might spread infectious material through the air.” (emphasis mine).

The CDC’s concern about the Ebola virus being spread via the air is understandable in light of a 2012 experiment conducted by Canadian scientists which proved that, “the ebola virus could be transmitted by air between species.”

Researchers demonstrated that the virus could be transmitted from pigs to monkeys without any direct contact by placing the two animals in pens separated only by a wire barrier. After eight days, some of the monkeys were found to have symptoms of Ebola likely as a result of “inhaling large aerosol droplets produced from the respiratory tracts of the pigs.”

The results of the study led scientists to conclude that, “limited airborne transmission might be contributing to the spread of the disease in some parts of Africa,” although they cautioned against making comparisons to the airborne nature of the influenza virus.

In addition, the Public Health Agency of Canada’s official website states under a section entitled “mode of transmission,” that “airborne spread among humans is strongly suspected, although it has not yet been conclusively demonstrated.”

The potential for a new strain of the Ebola virus to have achieved airborne transmission only serves to cast further doubt on the logic of the United States choosing to import two Ebola sufferers into the country.

As we reported last week, President Barack Obama signed an amendment to executive order which allows health authorities to detain Americans who merely show signs of respiratory illness.

The CDC has also outlined measures for dealing with an outbreak of a communicable disease which allow for the quarantine of “well persons” who “do not show symptoms” of the disease."

now if your saying it's not quite time to panic and run to the hills, fine, I won't argue with you on that. however, to simply assume, based on nothing more that official statements that this will clearly have only a limited impact outside of west Africa despite mounting evidence to the contrary is perhaps a little bit dangerous.

take Patrick Sawyer for example, some 70 people who came into contact with him at the Largo airport are now in quarantine and are symptomatic. there are now multiple confirmed and suspected cases in Nigeria bringing the total number of countries with confirmed or suspected cases of ebola to eight. this is unprecedented in the history of  the virus which previously reached a peak of 450 cases in what was up until now the largest outbreak of the virus in it's 50 year history. consider that every previous outbreak was contained to one small area of one country.

the WHO wasn't joking when they said it is moving faster than there ability to contain it. add to that the shear number of medical professionals trained in universal barrier precautions, which should be protecting them for contracting the virus, who are now stricken with it and one thing is becoming very clear. the mode of transmission has changed and even limited airborne transmission though heavy water particles can be disastrous considering this strain comes with a 60% mortality rate.

my life is not crappy, I actually am very great full for every day I get, which is exactly why I pay very close attention to what is happening in the world. I also know that while things may be a certain way today, there is no guarantee they will continue to follow that same path tomorrow...

normalcy bias is fine, it helps us cope with the realities of everyday life, just don't let it blind you to the possibility that the light you see at the end of the tunnel is a freight train about to run you over. be careful of viewing life in terms of absolutes cause you never really do know what tomorrow will bring.

Read the safety data sheet on ebola from Canada!

http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/lab-bio/res/psds-ftss/ebola-eng.php

Let me quote…

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MODE OF TRANSMISSION: Humans may be infected by handling sick or dead non-human primates and are also at risk when handling the bodies of deceased humans in preparation for funerals, suggesting possible transmission through aerosol droplets (2, 6, 28). In the laboratory, infection through small-particle aerosols has been demonstrated in primates, and airborne spread among humans is strongly suspected, although it has not yet been conclusively demonstrated (1, 6, 13). The importance of this route of transmission is not clear. Poor hygienic conditions can aid the spread of the virus (6).

INFECTIOUS DOSE: 1 - 10 aerosolized organisms are sufficient to cause infection in humans (21).

SURVIVAL OUTSIDE HOST: The virus can survive in liquid or dried material for a number of days (23). Infectivity is found to be stable at room temperature or at 4°C for several days
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not to mention it can be spread by aerosolization. You know… Sneezing!?

Spreads like the common cold, in other words.

This BBC article is interesting because it's from last year before the outbreak. The most frightening section: Dr Kobinger stresses that the transmission in the air is not similar to influenza or other infections. He points to the experience of most human outbreaks in Africa. "The reality is that they are contained and they remain local, if it was really an airborne virus like influenza is it would spread all over the place, and that's not happening." Not happening...until now. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-20341423
