Minimum-Wage Hikers Worst Enemy Spotted In China
For fast-food workers (and their unions) of the world, the following image is truly terrifying... As People's Daily China reports, the first restaurant featuring robotic waiters and chefs has opened in Suzhou, Jiangsu...
* * *
Each robot costs RMB40,000 (around $6,500) and speaks 40 sentences... more than many fast-food workers we suspect...

Update: Mike "Mish" Shedlock also noted the following - The "McCashier"
But if you are not more cost effective that that machine, then not only do you not make $15, you do not have a job at all.

How dare you apply logic to the minimum wage argument!
Do they accept Bitcoin tips? gh0atrider hopes so!
There are no Jobs in the future. He is dead.
Confiscate everyone's computer and BAN TECHNOLOGY!
you can take gh0atrider's bits from his COLD SHUTDOWN HANDS!
thats a pretty fine ass at the counter in black....
In the Bitcoin/Robot future human beings are redundant. Kill them now and get it over with, the future is calling!
We are heading towards Caves of Steel...
is there free wifi?
probably...but then Chinese, all "trendy", would stampede over each others to try get in, even without free wifi, no?
They don't /don't want to know what it will bring.
Dumb !
Not sure which is worse, ghoatfucker shilling bitcoins or the patriot posting that his sister made $9,500 last weekend banging the football team...
Yeah, these robots will be torn up, spray painted or banged down [or stolen] within weeks of filling McDs in Merika.
We're #1 in Viloence.
#1!
Or as the "DUKE OF NEW YORK" in Escape from NY said A-#1
so we're supposed to pony 20% to the waitress and we get no cleavage? brave new world...
Two questions.
First, how much more would the robot cost if can speak no sentences? Honestly, I don't need to pay a robot to give me no lip.
Second, am I the only thinking $9500 for a whole football sounds too low for that chick to be fuckable?
Are you serious? gh0atrider/fonestar are the greatest ZH poster children ever. The other guy is just some common spammer.
The only spammer is you foneystar... do I need to dig up your youtube page again.. man you are such a queer.
Ok fonestar I am really confused. How does the killing of humans help Bitcoin? Wouldn't this be its end as well? Or do the robots then transact in Bitcoin? It would seem Bitcoin would be superfluous in the world of the machines.
Oh, in case you are confused, Ebola is a real not virtual. Unless you are virtual yourself and, therefore, have no worries.
Miffed;-)
Why do humans need to be there for robots to transact in Bitcoins? Bitcoin is just a protocol, one that would scale very well to robot society. Frankly, gh0atrider does not care what happens to humans so long as Bitcoin and robots survive.
"Confiscate everyone's computer and BAN TECHNOLOGY!"
Ted Kaczynski approves this comment.
What we do, we do towards Satoshi conciousness...

When you think about it, the whole idea of robots serving humans food is stupid. Robots would not need to feed other robots food as they do not require food. Clearly humans are the weakest link here and should be eliminated immediately to make way for the future.
You first.
It is easy to junk gh0atrider. It is harder to explain why gh0atrider's posts appear all junkishly to the supreme godhead of Satoshi Nakamoto.
Clearly, the robots will take over. Hopefully gh0atrider will be remembered by the robot lords as someone who paved the way to robofuture.
You get junked because you derail comment threads. The same reason fonestar got banned. Fuckup.
gh0atrider is derailed fonestar X2 you muktard!
He gets junked because he posts junk.
Are you calling rapid spamtoshi junk??
Your theme song by chance:
Trololo 10 hrsClassic fonestar action!
oh0h0hho0hooo0hoo
I used to have my own troll account too and got banned so i feel for you bro.
fonestar = ghoatfucker... Can someone ban this waste of air?
no.
gh0atrider ban you! gh0atrider ban all of you!
Do you feel inadequate when you step out of character? That shtick must wear thin pretty fast at parties and on blind dates.
He probably is Fonestar with a new ID
YES YES YES!!!
fonestar was BAND by Tyler Burden. Cos he broke his promisers. Now fonestar had to reincarnate as gh0atrider....
You should have reincarnated as a douche bag or an enema bag, or at the very least a colostomy bag.
At least you would have been useful to someone out there.
..is it true that the nozzles have all the fun?
you really have no life... please kill yourself
"Robots would not need to feed other robots food as they do not require food."
Yes. Which is why it should be clear to all that ALL of this is no more than a rapid descent down the other side of the curve. Economies of scale in reverse... This won't persist past the short-term.
And to think people didn't understand that the Redbox robot dispensing movies outside McDonalds wasn't just for movies. That was mind conditioning and beta testiing customers perceptions of one day being served their Happy Meals by a machine.
Peak Labor Force participation bitchez !
i would think it started when we all became gas jockeys.......
gh0atrider
Who needs logic? As long as the things are programmed to say "DANGER WILL ROBINSON!" we're good to go.
"Welcome to Costco.... I love you.... beedeebeedee...."
LOL !!!

Neck Tattoos sold separately
Batteries not included, some assembly required.
Japan's been there for what, 2 decades now? Vending machines for everything short of funerals. Result? Structurally high unemployment, high suicude rates, low family formation etc.
Well, what are machines? They're property of the machine owner. They exist to enrich the owner. Who owns machines? Ironically, it is not the machine builder, and not even the machine buyer, but one entity that directly or indirectly owns everything through credit issued and distributed to run all sorts of enterprises, including ones related to mechanization.
Want to build a robot factory? Fine! Borrow form the bank. Build robots, sell them to other people who borrow form the bank. Who owns the machines? The bank! The originator of fiat who through collateral pledges owns pretty much everything - all assets collectively, directly and implicitly. And even if people participating in transactions related to robots aren't debtors, still, money had to come from somewhere. Knowing where it originates, someone somewhere for some reason had to borrow it into existence first. That money is tied to economic expansion, to flow of goods and exchange of services and therefore the bank essentially owns everything there is.
The worthless Trash Class won't have anything to do pretty soon. Bunch of goddamn losers who never worked a goddamn day in their goddamn lives and just want handouts from the hard working robots that work for a goddamn living.
Don't be so hard on yourself.
Lol, those things are going to get so vandalized and stolen if they put them in state side. I think I'll take one and make it my Chinese robot butler.
gh0atrider thought that roboserver was kinda hot....
(hopefully it was a fembot)
The worthless Trash Class won't have anything to do pretty soon.
You're correct. The 1%ers won't be able to do ANYTHING to save themselves from the masses who were happy enough to just get by, but the Oligarchs insisted upon pushing to the point of madness. The cannibalisied meat of the ruling class will be the new-wave delicacy of tomorrow.
The trash class is too stupid and lazy to pose a threat. They can be easily culled via biological or mechanical weapons if failed to control via media, education, and shiny technological gadgets.
Just like that show where they call up some felon on the with with a zillion unserved warrants to show up at X address to pick up the big screen tv he just "won" and the idiot serves himself up!
I was just reading that an inability to recognise irony is one of the first signs of Ebola infection.
gh0atider humped a new roboserver to cure himself of Ebola.
...but apparently forgot how to spell his own name in the process?
rapid spamtoshi err0rz!
People with autism have difficulty identifying sarcasm and irony, as well.
" Bunch of goddamn losers who never worked a goddamn day in their goddamn lives and just want handouts from the hard working robots that work for a goddamn living. "
Don't worry we can use robots to give them their handouts.

I told you humans this day would come many years ago ...
At first you are mocked..
Have they perfected the thing that looks like a dog turd and plays golf? If so, Obama sbould be very afraid.
The automat redefined.
Comming to a mall near you.
These robots should form a union; because they are being exploited by the commie-capitalists.
No worries, we're all eventually gonna migrate to Robonia!
Central banks print money to build robots and stuff.
Central banks send people tax free money for them to buy things.
10% flat tax on purchases. No more work. Problem solved.
A banker's lifestyle for everyone.
Who's going to eat at the joint when no body has a job?
See my comment above.
Really? How long before a happy meal is $100 and those that do work don't eat? Do you really think that's sustainable?
As sustainable as $17 Trillion in debt bailing out and juicing Wall Street.
True lol. But Oblahblah added the debt before he added 75 people to EBT for every one job. At this rate the US$ will collapse within the year and that $17 t will be crappy asswipe. And we all thought W was handing over a mess. Ha!
But they have yet to bail any of us out. Maybe if we promise to vote for them they might buy us a burger, but I wouldn't bet on it.
DING DING DING..........Winner, Winner, Robot Chicken Dinner !!!!!!
The top 10%, who made this goddamn country what it is today. Not the goddamn worthless Trash Class, who sit around all day instead of going out and learning how to build a goddamn robot they could sell and make a million which is all the Winners that DID make the Robots did.
Well.....show us YOUR robot, fuck wipe !
Or were you sleeping through Cybernetics 401 in your public school ? I mean....they are still teaching Cybernetics 401 in public schools....right.
Or did you learn at DeVry University. Oh....right......night class at Phoenix University. Got it.
Other robots.
How can anyone who reads ZH and understands what's going on in the world gloat over this?
it is called , "the dogmatic approach".
Most here will gloat over "end of times"and I may be one of them. (I change my mind every day)
Re: How can anyone who reads ZH and understands what's going on in the world gloat over this?
You are forgetting the official hate order on ZH:
1) Jews
2) Muslims
3) worthless Dagos & Greek
4) "those people"
5) Anybody making minimum wage
Robots replacing mimumum wage people allows ZH'ers to laugh at the number 5 people.
Hope this helps.
It looks like most are laughing at you.
Your Democrat is showing.
$6500 !!! I will take 13. I'm going to open a fast food joint !!!
Next lets get rid of the public takers. That's taxes I wouldn't mind paying for.
What do robots eat? I mean if they are the only ones with jobs, they will be the only ones who can afford to eat.
petroleum and coal
If one thinks of it on an energy basis, and one excludes the crazy modern lifestyle, humans are vastly more efficient users of energy than robots. I mean this in the sense of how many "calories" (which is skewed somewhat), joules, etc to function.
This is only happening because our system of production/exchange, our distribution/consumption of resources, and society in general is completely fucked up.
This rodeo is just a blip on a very long timeline that looks very much the same before and after humans!
Regards,
Cooter
What makes me wonder is the maintenance of these things. I work with numerous robots in my job. I'm sure we have topped a million in purchases. The bummer is when they break. I could fix easily most of the simpler instrumentation and would rarely have a service call. Now when one of these suckers has a problem or gets out of alignment a specially trained field guy must fix it. I've asked him many times to show me how to do it and he says he can't because this is not in the contract. He used to always just ship me the part and I would install it. I feel like I'm working in a union.
Robots dramatically increase throughput in my field but they can't fully replace humans.
Miffed;-)
I have an old diesel truck because it is so simple even a caveman (like me) can work on it; and parts are cheap (WAY cheap compared to the newer ones).
I was talking to a woman the other day whose truck (newer gasser) was spitting out codes and the transmission got stupid. It started working again just fine. She'd taken it to the dealer within the last year and they couldn't ID the problem: she thinks it actually was WORSE when she got it back (though they just ran diags, I think). I deduced that it's not a temperature issue, in which case it's more likely one (or more) of MANY "sensors."
When shit works it's great. When it don't you're fucked...
Without a doubt. My small business is very reliant on automation in the use of programmable routers for machining wood. The greatest thing since the wheel..until they break. Another thing is their depreciation, where a perfectly useful machine is worthless due to supposed outdated technology (doesn't email bill gates) and proprietary stuff that costs a fortune. Just today we found that an Austrian built table saw with a touch screen control was failing. The only fix is a $3000 new screen and integrated controller. Something that could in theory be done with a smart phone. These machines could be made with easily upgradeable technology, but its not in their interest to do so. I can only imagine what its like in a medical industry with the liabilities and risk involved.
Bless you for grounding this in reality!
STOP BRINGING ME MY ORDER UNTIL I ACTUALLY SAY WHAT I WANT! (yes, that is what I wanted. Friggin new world order shit. Knew what I wanted before I even got here!)
Okay! Okay! Bring it back! Bring it back!
What do you mean that's not part of the programming?
I demand to speak to the Network Administrator Post Haste! Whaddya mean he's on line five and based in Manila??
Question for all of you MBA efficiency experts out there busy outsourcing and robotisizing every job out there. Who is going to buy your products and services?
Oh and one other where are you going to hide when the underclass that you are busily creating decide that no they can't afford bread or cake and decide to break out the pitch forks?
You want burger or not. If so you gotta PAY!!! $20.
Me - I don't care what the State mandated minimum wage is. I just gonna fire up bbq when i get home.
F U u authoritarian state commie mommies!!!
Don't forget the mandatory robot recycling fee (a tax on every burger sold, its their retirement program)
As a Robo-American, I find your comment offensive!
It used to be the case when I would go out to eat Id usually take some home to finish. Many times when I leave Im still hungry. I thought they were just making the actual plates bigger. /s
Everywhere you look things are getting smaller (sans the Walmart patrons).
A pocket full of Neodymium magnets is going to make this future a lot of fun!
Start collecting old hard drives folks ;)
Laughed so hard my sides are hurting!
Asymmetrical warfare. Apparently the Powers still think they can hold out until there are no more rocks...
If the CHINESE begin to make millions of robots using dirt cheap Chinese labour and selling them at Chinese low cut rate prices, the world's labour market is dun.
I'm studyng to be a robot repair tech. I see opportunity here!
And the robots can shop at WalMart, served by robots, buying? robot made crap.
The future could be good with robots doing most of the labor. As long as the population is lower. All people are highly educated, to a level where research, art, fun, and creating ever better things is their goal and ability. Better things, meaning actually better, not just variations on crap trinkets. Of course this requires a bit of a remake of what is considered success and wealth. Not communism. Just a more realistic, long term idea of what is important. Fun being very important. Society devolving into feudal world wide poisoned slum, not being fun.
I direct those who would be King of the world, to a sobering portion of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Peasant one to peasant two, " How do you know he's a king?" Peasant two, " He ain't got shit all over im." Yeah. The current method to gaining for self, by sucking all from others, makes a world so shitty, that being King puts you just that little bit above the shit. King of shit.
I guarantee that this is not cheaper than using humans.
Maybe they'll replace blog writers with robots.
Maybe they already have.
Your cover is blown, Spas.
Or should I spell your name as 0111001000111000010110111000111010101000001 ?
You're ridin' me hard today, man. I might get a complex, or sumthin'.
LOL !!! Any bot that can pass the Turing Test is ok by me ! ; )
They will have to customize them for feral Amerika.
Da' bot be wearing backward cholo hat and have his center rim pulled down to his knees so his O ring be showin' and shiite.
dat be zo racisst. i love it. i really love it? have you ever travelled thru jfk airport?
stupidity on a mass level at mcdonalds - and other storefront venues doesn't bother me. i don't ever go there.
but - if i want to travel - i don't want the same lack of service. jfk is lebron james dream stupidity levels.
(not to pick on one of the most currently highest paid stupid idiots, he is no worse than the last media stupid idiots favorites, he's just as stupid, god bless him. and rich, because of our stupidity.)
Listen to all the Luddites! This is excellent news. And, I bet they can count out my change correctly too!
The world needs about 500 million people, a shit ton of robots, and a few smelly brown people to do the work the robots can't.
PARADISE!
Except for the brown people.
Error: Brown people, does not compute.
When I was 16 I worked at a fast food place and I felt proud. I didn't make too much but I saved and had some left over to take my girlfriend out to the movies. It might not seem like it to some people but that first job was important to me because it taught me what work was: showing up on time, preparing, cleaning, stocking, etc. It also taught me the value of a buck...I had to work X amount of hours to go to the movies with my girl and save X amount of dollars for a car. It was a stepping stone and an introduction into the real world.
That job was never meant to provide a "living wage" nor support a family. It was simply a low paying yet important seque into what life is all about. I think it's sad that Americans look at these jobs as a means to support families. It really speaks volumes of what has happened to this country and more importantly what people expect moving forward. It's truly a sad state of affairs.
As a side note, when I was working that job I took a certain level of pride in what I did. I was proud to be working and making money. Recently I have walked into a few of these places to order food and just thrown it way because the people serving it are disgusting. I can't eat food served by people with no respect for themselves and no apparent awareness of hygeine.
That real world is real shitty. Sorry to tell you.
It is what you make of it.
I bet a robot can't make shit pies quite the way I can.
Bet I can squirt oil further than you can!
I'm over 50. EVERYbody can squirt oil further than me ! LOL !
Most firms even low paying fast food businesses are always looking for people who will step up, take some responsibility. Its not to say they will be made president in a few days but they are in demand. Too many that hold these jobs do so exactly because they want no responsibility. Many are there because they can't hold a job that demands responsibility. Even in this shitty economy there are jobs out there, its just that most of those available either are not qualified, demand more that the job pays, don't want to work, or all of the above. A close relative is a manager for a large grocery chain, managing probably ten stores. He tells me he has more job openings than he has ever had in thirty years, but few will apply and those he does see, really don't want to do the work and flat tell him they can make more living off of government.
C-3PO......"R2 you dumb sheep f-kr I TOLD you to bring the morbidly obese patron his earth food 2 minutes ago!@#.......what a quandry we are in now R2!"
R2-D2"adkfjeoiwj3280u10384u1rfjwohgiogh......fjiowe39q0u4238fo3wfgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Will the fast food robots be armed? Cuz that would be cool.
You have 20 seonds to order.......

Paul Verhoven is a twisted genius.
And the Dutch are just plain weird.
I should know. I work with one who used to work on a Greenpeace boat.
Robots - just doing jobs that American's don't want to do (for $14.99 an hour or less).
/s/
Maybe we should ban all labor saving technology & machinery.
Increasing productivity increases the standard of living.
Maybe we should go back to quill pens instead of computers - forget about bulldozers just hire people with shovels - scrap all of the farm machinery and just hire people to pick the corn and beans by hand.
Will the people that lose their jobs to robots be hurt? Hell yes - but not becoming more productive will hurt 10X more.
scrap all of the farm machinery and just hire people to pick the corn and beans by hand.
Why not just make them do it?
Think out of the box, man! Innovation and efficiency beyond our wildest dreams to be had - for a clever man!
At first this may seem like a good idea - but even if you use slave labor you still need to feed them.
Giving your slaves productivity enhancing tools will still increase your output.
Think how much better the pyramids would be if they had access to modern construction equipment.
Plus they would have actually finished them faster.
/s/
Increasing productivity increases the standard of living.
LOL !!! You honest to God said that ? HAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!
Maybe we should go back to quill pens instead of computers
Hhmmm.......when we had quill pens we had Mozart and Bach.
Today we have computers and Scrillex.
Yeah....things are SOOOooooo much better with automation.
Really? Productivity hurts your standard of living?
I guess that is why countries with the lowest productivity have a higher standard of living. NOT!
Like countries in Africa where half of the population is starving.
You come across as a self-righteous prick - but let's do a little test to see for sure.
I bet you use (directly or indirectly) a washing machine and dryer to clean / dry your clothes.
These are a couple of fine examples of things that increase productivity.
GIVE UP YOUR WASHER AND DRYER for a couple months - then report back and tell me how much better your quality of life is - because washing your clothes in a bucket and hanging them in a tree to dry them will raise your standard of living.
Or
Are you a hypocritical ass hole that thinks they know what is best for everyone else in the world - but of course you don't follow your own fucking advise - because that would be inconvenient.
If you preach it try living it you ignorant fuck - other wise take your opinions and shove them up your tight progressive ass hole.
Fuck it. I'll Rick-roll that sad sack pile of shit for a large order of overdone fries and a shit ton of salt.
So the question arises, when the fuck can we all shit can the TOTUS, House and the Senate and install some AI with the Hippocratic oath written into it's BIOS?
And very soon a robot will be writing stories for ZH and the Tylers will be picketting for a higher minimum wage...
At least the robots will not intentionally poison the food of whatever race other than theirs happens to go through the drive-thru.
this is how I think...deal with it bitchez
You think about poisoning black people?
Oh - or are you black, and have particular insight?
I'm kinda slow so please forgive me; but, you've got a kind of brown or black complex. What's that all about? No skin color holds the monopoly on perpetual suffering; unless of course you're talking about eye or hair color, but I bet that applies there too.
Did I say black?
I meant Asian.
Oops - fat fingers!
Apparantly, I have particular insight based on your reply. Yes, people have biases based on their particular race, whowoulda thunkit.
The concept of "racism" has been promulgated by governments who would like to increase tax base. Actual racism or, "discrimination" will always exist even if every White person were to be hypothetically exterminated at this very moment. A race (I think the Chinese) at some point will exterminate every other race.
I was mostly intrigued by the poisoning part.
Oh, and I meant to say "Asian" above, as per my correction slightly above.
I think most people in the West are delusional where it comes to "race nationalism".
The fast food poisoning allusion comes from ,"experience" and what the, "reverand" Jessie Jackson said about "doing things" to White peoples food.
http://www.jessejackson.org/spitinwhiteysfood.html
Considering most males have color blindness issues, your judgements seem kinda flimsy... Well, wtf, yeah. One race, one language, one religion, sieg heil... whatever. Sound mentality, right? And if it's bad, well, it da goobmint faoolt right?
When all production is done by robots, all humans will be pennyless.
There will be no one to buy what the robots are making.
Where will all that stuff be stored???
I think I'll just sit back and let my brain melt, now.
The logic of arguing that minimum wage laws are bad, in that manner is just a waste of time.
The true problem(s?) - Government and banks just skimming off so much from those who wish to actually do something usefull that there's not enough left to live on.
When everything is financialized, nothing has true value.
I think the idea is as we get more productive, the remaining people with a gainful job are meant to get more charitable. Seems contrary to the state of affairs though, where 7 people have to work 200 years to get a 1000 year mortgage on a rotten rabbit hutch.
I heard Janet "Easy Money" Yellen is eyeballing wages for signs of inflationary pressure. ... with few signs of a broad-based acceleration...” I guess they won't be raising interest rates afterall next eyar...
"and speaks 40 sentences... more than many fast-food workers we suspect..."
Given the reality of things, that seems like a needless, cheap shot.
That robot looks like it's right out of the old series "Lost in Space"
Danger, Will Robinson.
Chef Bender
I really showed up that worthless Neptunian Elzar in that episode!
