Ukraine Currency Plunges To Record Low: US Taxpayer To The Rescue?

Tyler Durden's picture

With all eyes firmly focused on Ukraine's borders and the bloodshed in the East as fighting rages, it appears few are paying attention to the ongoing collapse of the nation's currency. The Hrynia just traded at new record lows this morning following NATO's Rasmussen's comments. However, there is no need to worry...

  • UKRAINE EXPECTS $1.95B FROM WORLD BANK, IMF THIS MONTH

Get to work, Mr. US Taxpayer...

Assuming that the IMF actually sends money to the Ukraine, nearly all of it will be stolen by the oligarch owned Kiev government. Babuskas will still starve without pensions, and unemployment insurance will be cut off.

Meanwhile, Detroit does not have water for its residents.

And lest I be accused of being a liberal, I think giving water to the Detroit residents means we are less likely to be robbed at gunpoint.

The IMF will issue SDRs from thin air, but are as good as any fiat.  The oligarchs will steal the value and the Ukes will have to pay it back in sweat and blood.  SSDF (same shit different fiat).

Once the FED RES NOTE loses it's currency status, maybe the SDR can take over as the world reserve currency (that is the plan, with Yuan as the big backer).  Yes, losing that reserve status will let the US finally go bankrupt (and cancel the reserve note).  They just hope they can hold it together long enough to get everything in place for the transition....

Just like a liberal: complaining about money used to secure important US interests, and support successful US corporations like Raytheon, claiming it would be better spent on liberal things like free water for saggy-pantsed, Obamaphone-toting, pre-zombie, monster-people.

Hang your head in shame, and go re-read Mein Kampf, I mean Atlas Shrugged.

Ukraine will be permanent debt slaves to IMF for that unless Russia counter-acts it and takes them over and away from the NWO-IMF.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN?????

ARE YOU ALL PLANNING ON SUDDENLY DOWNPAYING THE NATIONAL DEBT???

As far as I know, America prints money in a way that it's stealing wealth from the rest of the world by inflation.

So if America gives them money, THAT MONEY IS STOLEN FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD. And they give it away to keep the dollar influence alive.

That's pretty much how it works. So many tie their currencies to the US dollar, so their currency is weakened disproportionately to our money printing. What's amazed me is that all we really export is inflation and debt, we create trillions out of thin air, and people are still will to send us real commodities and goods in exchange for these increasingly worthless dollars, dollars we create based on the whims of bankers. This method extracts trillions in wealth from the rest of the world. If more people became aware of this, it would not be good. Of course, it's not surprising that they haven't. Most Americans don't understand that the federal reserve does the same thing to them as well.

The only thing that has saved the US dollar thus far is that there are, for the most part, no other good alternatives. No one wants Ukraine POS currency so just about EVERYTHING will increase in value compared to it. This includes products and services, investments, PM, and other currencies.

BTW, a lot of talk on ZH about the demise of the US dollar and hyper-inflation. Personally, I'm not convinced.

Yea why don't we finance Ukraine non-existent war machine and govt.? Ukraine needed 15 billion Euro urgently before The Crimea crisis yet nothing has been done since the last presidential elections. Ukraine needs so much financial assistance that they are better off starting a war to insure they get it without an audit they would surely fail!

The IMF will pay for the Ukraine gas bill. That is how it works. Good portion of the $ go to Russia like the last disbursement. Then Ukraine will go bankrupt and EU and US tax payers mostly will lose as they are the largest buyers of SDR from the IMF...

These IMF disbursement do not solve the real economic issues of Ukraine. There are much deeper problems like corruption that will take years to resolve.
