Anyone know how to get rid of the BMO popup ad infecting me by coming to ZH?  I'm using Firefox with popup blocker, but doesn't work.

Ran AdwCleaner, MalwareBytes, and HitmanPro.  Still bullshit BMO banking garbage shows up on almost every page.

No wonder I feel so tired all the time. Now I know.

I don't think the cartoon correctly reflects the obesity that is the norm now.

As for the welfare state....  Unfunded liabilities, FTW.

The gov't has bought EVERYONE off with promises!  Promises!

Used to be you actually would get paid for doing dirty work.

I quit using my laptop to visit ZH

Smart phone or iPad only

So buggy...good luck

Now the mobile ads are ridiculous ...my just have to read once a week soon

I call bullshit

The AdBlock iPhone app works great for reading ZH. Firefox with AdBlock Plus and Flashblock makes ZH quite readable on my PC.

I wonder when advertizes will figure out that badly behaved advertizing actually drives away customers.

bunzbunzbunz...Physics? Really?

The US Government declared the Laws of Physics to be invalid after 9/11/2001.

You have to catch up with the times and stop living in the past.

I mean just look at all of the building code changes after that "It's unpatriotic to question" fateful day.

Govt checks flying fast and furious to all of the ranchers with a cow herd.  Getting about $500 per head for the number they had the last three years.  Upper 5 figure  checks from the government for the great entreprenuerial, stand all by their lonesome, rugged individualist, cowboys.

That's it.  They have in fact bought everyone off.

That Norton antivirus is useless.  I could not understand why my computer kept slowing down with the Norton's protection on.  It could not stop nor detect a malware/adware that free Avast got rid of quickly.  PC performance is back to normal now.  I just downloaded the AVG, ran a scan and the PC TuneUp.  Tried to uninstall the Avast after the free trial expired and it allowed me to continue using it free.  Nice trick.  Now I have both the Avast and AVG running simultaneously.  Having just 1 antivirus program is risky these days.  I used Norton for 2 years and is a waste of money.

Some coyotes are pulling down $10K per Mexican they sneak across.  There's robust competition, but it's a growth industry with millions of opportunities.  Set up a sweat shop in San Diego and you can douple dip...

See, plenty of opportunity in this new economy!

No Shit, most of them now are in power Govt paid for scooters.   Don't need anyone pushing.....just pay your taxes.

Try adblock and ghostery plugins for firefox.  I run both and almost never see ads here.  The only times recently is when something new was added that ghostery had not caught yet.

knukles's picture

click on the adblock and ghostery icons for "filters" to adjust ....
... pain in the arse to get used to using, but can get rid of extraneous garf...

McMolotov's picture

Do you use Adblock Plus? I never see any ads.

Back on topic, where's the person at the top administering euthanasia drugs in the last panel?

Thanks for reminding me.... actually had ADP on my last PC but got a new one recently and forgot to reinstall.

Man, don't you freeloaders realize that it costs money for ZH to distribute all the Ebola hysteria?  Someone has to see those ads.

DUDE! I KNOW! THOSE ARE THE WORST. I KNOW THEY HAVE TO MAKE MONEY AND ALL BUT GOD DAMN, HAVE SOME STANDARDS!

Anybody's picture

Not using any of those myself ... just NoScript and it works great.

Mr. Ed's picture

Same here.   NoScipt (plus AdBlock.)

chumbawamba's picture

You need to re-install Anti-Dipshit Plus.  The problem is your user.

Jack Sheet's picture

Dunno, but the chick top R of the block of 4 ads appearing after each and every article even with the adblockers looks like she could suck a golf ball through 10 feet of garden hose.

luckylogger's picture

Use Chrome- thats how I did it.

CrazyCooter's picture

If FF is compromised with an unsafe ad-on, that might be part of your problem (not sure what you have installed). I only use a few add ons.

That said, ad block plus is one of them and it works fairly well.

Lastly, FireFox will actually access the loopback IP (ports are usually in the 4x,xxx range) although FF staff have said this is typical and totally safe. Personally I think it is a BS response and completely unecessary. FF has really gone downhill lately with shitty UI changes and a general tone of ignoring what users want and doing their own arrogant design thing. That is my way of saying it could be a temporary FF security issue that will get patched in the future.

Browsers and hacking them is a perpetual arms race ...

Cooter

MisterMousePotato's picture

Try Pale Moon. It's a fork of FireFox that has not yet followed FF down the path of alienating their core users.

fallout11's picture

Will look into that, thank you. Have been refusing to "upgrade" my FF because of the flawed direction it has been going of late (another alienated core user here).

OldBoy's picture

I've had better luck with Google Chrome

johansen's picture

google: mvps hosts. download and update your hosts file.

Graceguy's picture

I don't know much about Firefox, but on my PC Chrome with the AdBlock extention eliminates all popups.

Bill Clinton should be inpeached for lieing about adultery.  Blody glove bitchez.

FiatFapper's picture

Use the forked version called Ad Block Edge; ABP sold out and allows ads.

Also, use ghostery.

BeerMe's picture

adblock edge seems to work

toady's picture

I've been having pop up problems since they added the ad bar at the bottom of the screen. It goes away after I restart my ol'S3, but it starts creeping back after a day or two.

skunzie's picture

Delete your history on a regular basis.  I am using Google browser and that helps the most when I do that.

I also downloaded Puran Utilities (freeware) and regularly clean the history, empty files, and defrag my computer (Windows XP) and it helps knock out the BS pop-ups.  Hope that helps.
