"This Is Exactly What Bin Laden Wanted" Ron Paul Concludes

Tyler Durden's picture

Having expressed his dismay at President Obama's decision to embark upon Iraq War 3.0, Ron Paul explains "it's a little bit late to salvage all the mistakes that we've made for the past 24 years," adding that he is worried "it will end up with a lot more violence because they are putting more troops in there right now." Simply out, Paul concludes, "the sooner we get out of there the better," as it "jeopardizes our national security and is bankrupting our country... this is exactly what Osama bin Laden wanted."

As RT adds,

Even if the US abandons its efforts, Paul added, assistance provided to other groups throughout the region may end up sabotaging attempts to dismantle the Islamic State if weaponry trickles downs into the hands of militants. Firepower already provided by the Pentagon in and around Iraq has found itself in the wrong hands, Paul said, and the only solution to prevent further unintended consequences is to keep America out of international conflicts altogether.

“I would stick to the basic principle that we have a strong national defense, we defend our national security, we don’t get involved in fights around the world, we don’t get involved in civil strife and civil wars and especially what was going on in the middle east,” he said, “so no, I think the argument stands on its own merits that we shouldn’t be involved in doing this.”

“I think the sooner we get out of there the better,” Paul told David. “We don’t have a moral responsibility; we don’t have a constitutional responsibility. It has nothing to do with our national security. It in jeopardizes our national security and is bankrupting our country.”

What’s more, Paul added, is that the US government’s ongoing meddling in the Iraqi affair and other incidents is falling exactly in line with Al-Qaeda. According to Paul, terrorists have long intended to take the US down by wasting its resources on campaigns, the likes of which have been called fodder for some by further fanning the flames of anti-American sentiments through military action carried out in far apart countries.

“This is exactly what Osama bin Laden wanted,” Paul said. “He wanted to engage us over there because he said, ‘I’ll bring you down like I brought the Soviets down.’ We are doing the same thing because we flat out can’t afford it. It’s a failed policy. I think after so many years and so many decades we ought to admit the truth.”

Good post. OBL didn't "want" it; he merely understood. "Rebuilding America's Defenses" requires bogeymen. OBL fit the bill, for a while. Lately it's ISIL. Later it will be something else to justify continued presence in the region.

And bitcon continues to slide. This shouldn't be happening with a deflationary model of limited bitcons. That is why bitcon needs huxters like you to pump, so you can then dump.

I love how coinbase says "As a merchant, you never need to hold bitcoin or expose yourself to any exchange rate risk if you don't want to."

But, but, I thought bitcon was a sure thing, LOL. Even coinbase admits their is exposure to exchange risk. And what are they exchanging for? Dollars. But, but, I thought bitcon was the new currency to replace fiat, LOL.

Yes. The alternative is "forcibly". But that would require people who are more or less getting enough food and video games to keep them happy to suddenly adopt risk and leadership. A pillar of Patriotism
A monument to Morality
An anathema to the Majority
A conscience to those who are Unconscious.

The last chance the USA had,

True. This is exactly what israel and the neocons in power wanted more than anyone else.

As long as goyim are slitting each others throats, zions machinations are coming to fruition. The u.s. is merely a powerful agent to achieve their end. They dont care if the rest of the nations exist, except the need for subservient labor. Someone must do the menial work.

Everyone realizes that war is senseless, especially in view of our advancement as a species. Peace is achievable. As long as the false-flag tactic continues as a viable option for these evil war planners, the world can never ever experience lasting peace. "By deception we make war"

The only way america makes it out of this one is to remove israels sphere of influence from the u.s. Then a real recovery would take place. Unfortunately, israel would then become the preeminent terrorist state in the world, if they arent already.

There's always going to be somebody taking "the other side of the trade", so to speak.  If that's Ron in the current era, I'm OK with that.  The day there is nobody speaking up to say "this is completely fucked up!" is the day you know for certain things are completely fucked up.

"Start over. "

Start what over?

"only way we get fixed"

Fix what?

"If two fucktards capable of breeding survive....we'll be back here again in 6,000 years."

Not sure of the time-frame, but I agree that human nature will be human nature.  That said, I think it awfully a disservice to engage in any attempts at critical thinking to fail to take into consideration the core of the problem being growth: well, you mention breeding, so I suppose that you might be seeing that.  "Go forth and multiply."  No mention of when to stop.  No mention of the problems associated with trying to do this on a finite planet: maybe "heaven" is really about inhabiting the universe, that we're to "spawn" out into the universe? (the techno-freaks seem to like this idea)

No down-arrow from me, though the lash-out at Ron Paul is a bit harsh (and likely distracts others from trying to dissect the other more meaningful things).

We, as an empire, were pre-destined for collapse (an amazingly tight correlation of an 250 year average lifespan):

All the "freedoms" etc are great-sounding words, but they're really only motivational tools (by the same old OLD tricks used by the eternal PTB).

ALL fiat dies.  The USD went dead in 1971: the financial trickery (and reserve status) has allowed it to continue to walk the earth.

With Ron Paul the MSM suceeded in putting a tin foil hat on the truth. If you look at bin laden's original plan it's almost there, It just needs the financial collapse part to happen and our sicko leaders are putting the finishing touches on that part of it right now.

Ron Paul was a threat to the MIC.  And the MSM is wired right to it.

"our sicko leaders are putting the finishing touches on that part of it right now."

No, I don't believe that it's so much an intention of deliberately trashing the status quo (which has always supported TPTB) as it is in recognizing the the worlds' reserve currency -USD- is full fiat and that fiat has a limited live-span.  The further realization surely has in it that the world's resources are becoming more scarce, especially oil (if we were privy to Dick Cheney's energy policy meetings I'm sure this would be obvious [that they're more than aware of it and that this is about sticking to the view that the "American way of life isn't negotiable.").

And keep in mind that ALL empire collapse.  Doesn't matter what "system," "rule," or "leaders" is in place, they ALL collapse:

I would place the "blame" on [perpetual] growth [on a finite planet].

Well bossman1967 with your 5 weeks and 1 day tenure, let me be the first to officially inform you that you are not yet awake... not at all.  READ my friend.  Read like there's no tomorrow.  The rabbit hole is deep, windy and branching, with many dead ends in-between.  It's not at all conclusive or black and white, so you are going to need to bias your reading with those who have real experience (not your own).  May I suggest starting with Smedly Butler's masterpiece: "War is a Racket", followed by "Sorrows of Empire" - Chalmers Johnson (formerly CIA), then "Nemesis" - Chalmers Johnson.  If you make it that far, start reading Taleb - "Fooled by Randomness", then "Antifragility".

If you are quiet, you can hear.  Quiet your mind.  Throw away your preconceived notions.  They are poison, and completely and utterly false.

Ron Paul is the closest proposed policy to truth and sanity since 1785.  You simply aren't aware of it...yet.  let go.  learn.

While those are certainly good reads, there's a much Bigger view to be had, and I believe that this is the best at presenting history and why it's more than unlikely that we can escape the outcome of all those that came before us:

I'd state that it's of questionable value to point fingers at the corrupt when they are working within the construct of a corrupt system: or as I often say: when you're at the circus it's kind of silly to complain about there being clowns there.  It's The System (which is any system that we fabricate that is based on open-ended growth)!  Remember this: ALL WARS ARE ABOUT RESOURCES (wars are a symptom of the problem).

You can learn a lot, imho, by asking people who don't like RP why they don't.  I'm not suggesting he's perfect, and think it a mistake to deify any politician, but it's all relative.

The people who hate RP generally do so for reasons sounding in ignorance, violence, and an unshakeable faith in the idea that if they could just use government violence to force more people to do more things - the world would be better.

I think he was America's last chance at some sort of political solution to, or at least partial correction of the course toward unending war, debt, and decay this country's voters have chosen.

"US has played international cop for decades and should continue to do so."

The US has played the role that ALL empires have played.  And ALL empires eventually (on average pretty much to the day of 250 years) collapse.  With this in mind all that you say should happen matters not.  The question that limited thinkers always fail to ask is: what happens when it can no longer continue?

"The game changer is drones and on the ground bots - cheaper, faster results and they don't bitch about overtime."

And they just magically appear?  Out of thin air just like fiat?  When ISIS and Russia have command of the bulk of the world's energy supplies I very much doubt that your "theory" is going to hold up; but, if you're gung ho on it then I would expect that you're putting your energies and money behind supporting this strategy?

A review of empire collapses over the course of 3,000 (to 4,000) years suggests that technological advantages don't save empires:

Final note: two words: asymmetrical warfare.

That's a bit rich : when you invade some place and shit all over it you have to clean the mess before you leave for good.

Um, please describe what "clean the mess" means.

Iraq is BROKEN.  No amount of "cleaning" or "fixing" is going to un-break it.  As a matter of fact, it's basically a failed State, one that was always destined to collapse (as all other arbitrarily defined States in that area).

ISIS only needs to occupy the oil fields and the dams.  Any attempts at wiping them out from those places will result in total disaster.

"the bad guys are organized like a regular army."

The "bad guys" are constantly morphing.  Meanwhile the US empire's clock is ticking away...  Those that don't read history are doomed to repeat it...

As a non denominal Christian. This is why I support Israel against the anti semitics on ZH. While I do agree the Israel's government may do bad things, I have also been very anti government as I view big government as corrupt. I am not Jewish. I am Asian.

Genesis 12:3 "And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all nations of the earth be blessed." Point: God has promised to bless the man or nation that blesses the Chosen People (Jews). History has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the nations that have blessed the Jewish people have had the blessing of God; the nations that have cursed the Jewish people have experienced the curse of God.

Psalm 122:6

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you!

These are just two of the scriptures of about a dozen that suggest that Christians support Israel until its destruction. Yes, I said destruction as that is also in prophesized. I or you can't control the Israel government, and any corrupt behavior it has. But as a Christian, I support the Israeli people to protect themselves.

ISIL Oil Riches?

In addition to current energy holdings in Syria, the Islamic State of the Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) holds seven different oil fields in Iraq.

This past month the militants seized Ain Zalah and Batma oil fields. They had previously gained control of Najma, Qayara, Himreen, Ajeel and Balad oil fields.

The total capacity of ISIL holdings in Iraq would amount to close to 80,000 barrels of oil per day. At current prices, that amount of oil would be worth $8.4 million.

When considering violence upon others... be a peacenik.

When considering violence in self-defense... be even more aggressive than ISIS.

Nothing else can possibly work.  Without this seemingly schizophrenic attitude about violence, PREDATORS ALWAYS WIN.  ALWAYS.

Leave others alone, no matter how wacko they are.  But go all out to defend self when attacked.  And be prepared.  Simple as that.

I believe that religions give "guidance" about this: and it's why people pick at select bits to attack as advocating violence.  Anyway...

While the basic guidelines are good they don't cover all possible situations.

What IF you are starving and the only available food is possessed (closest to you- you don't have the energy to travel) by persons who will not accommodate you?  Do you just sit down and die, or do you try to fight for your survival (at the expense of others)?

Fair enough.

One never knows, however, exactly how one will act in such instances.  I tend to leave myself open to interpret based on the actual instance/circumstance when it occurs.

"Provocation" would be near-starvation.

Keep in mind that it's quite possible that no matter what you have to trade it might come down to ONLY food, that the "others" might also be near starvation themselves.

If the "others" had been known to have previously killed your spouse or children (past event), would that matter?
