We’ve Opened the Gates of Hell

Preface: we’ve written thousands of articles on Fukushima and radiation. But this post will spotlight recent articles from EneNews … with which we have no affiliation of any nature whatsoever.
The American media hasn't covered Fukushima for a long time. But that doesn't mean there hasn't been any news. It just means that the U.S. and Japanese governments have worked hard to cover it up.
Here’s a roundup of recent news (links to EneNews; click through to see original source material ... that's how the web WORKS):
Radiation
- Nuclear fuel found 15 miles from Tokyo suburbs — Fukushima uranium in ‘glassy’ spheres transported over 170 km — Structural materials from the nuclear reactors also present (PHOTOS). Previously: Scientists: ‘Spheres’ of radioactive material from Fukushima reported for first time — Ball-like particles composed of cesium, iron, zinc — Solid and insoluble in water — Impact on human health needs to be examined (PHOTOS)

Tired of this shrill crap. Makes me view the whole site as suspect.
Go have some Pacific salmon with sushi rice and green tea, and get back to us in a year or two.
Buh bye.

I wrote and posted an article on Mon Dec 24, 2007 criticizing the politicians lack of courage in environmental policies, it remains as relevant today as when I wrote it. The post subject: Candidates shy away from "C" word, I find it a shame that none of the Republican Presidential candidates or president Obama in his State Of The Union address have mentioned any real innovative initiative concerning energy conservation.
Why are politicians so willing and eager to ask Americas sons and daughters to risk life and limbs in foreign wars while unwilling to ask Americans to make such a minor sacrifice? Simply mandating lower heating and higher cooling settings in government offices and buildings would give the private sector the cover they need to adjust their thermostats accordingly in offices and stores.
With some minor changes to the way we live a lot of energy could be saved but that would cost big business a lot of money and reduce the GDP. The article below delves into the issue Obama is trying to raise as he jets back and forth across the world burning fuel in his massive government plane. I propose the President considers thinking about playing golf a little closer to home.

Good Work GW
Thank God we are paying so little attention to this it is as if it isn't realy happening.
Below is a list of the worlds ten most crucial problems counted down from "least to most crucial" The world must begin to address these many problems with long term solutions. Most of these are issues that center on our sustainability. Sadly, politicians do not deal well with such things leaving us without direction. As we look at the human condition we can let fate take us where it may choose or we can take control of our future by proper planning and by guiding it as best we can.
http://brucewilds.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-worlds-10-worst-problems.html
From your link that rated the following as #1 pressing issue.... Over population; This is the overriding problem facing Earth and the most difficult to address. If the problem of over population is not addressed all the other problems on this list will most likely become much greater.
Could be that Fukushima will make that one fall down the list!
Radiation and Ebola will thin the populations. The question is what will the world look like when it's all over?
Probably not what our Masters had in mind.
Yup, you got the worst of the problems correct. He didn't.
Why, China is building dozens more...
When I was protesting nuclear power plants in the 70's up in New England and NY "we" were constantly saying this type of occurrence could happen. And at every Atomic Energy Commission meeting, then the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, expert after expert was trotted forward to carefully explain this could never ever ever happen. There were simply too many safeguards.
I so wish they were right and 'we' were wrong. Sadly Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and now Fukushima have proven us right. When will the madness stop?
PS. "We" were also assured time after time that the 40 year operating license would not be renewed since the plants were designed for no longer than 40 years and the radiation would significantly weaken the pressure vessels and associated piping if they were to operate longer. Guess what is now going on? Yup, 20 years or more are being added to the operating licenses of many plants.
The Experts assure us all is well.
Answer to your question
Cognitive Dissonance on
"When will the madness stop?"
NEVER, IN OUR REMAINING LIFE!
I also did my share of protesting against the insane ways that atomic energy was being developed back in the 1970s. Indeed, most of my adult life was based on decisions driven by thinking about the insanities regarding the ways that atomic energy was being developed, inside of a civilization operating on the basis of enforced frauds, where the core to that craziness and corruption was the funding of the political processes.
Of course, the ways that atomic energy potentials were developed inside of a social pyramid system based on legalized lies backed by legalized violence were only the leading edge of everything else that those systems of enforced frauds were driving. At the present time, the main dialectical debate in my mind is not the social insanities surrounding atomic energy (which issues I have previously beaten to death for decades), but rather the bigger picture about climate change, which I could currently summarize as my attempts to guess which one of the following views will turn out to be more correct:
Guy McPherson versus Ben Davidson
http://guymcpherson.com/2013/01/climate-change-summary-and-update/
versus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PDC5s3VD7I&list=PLHSoxioQtwZcqdt3LK6d66...
Basically, are changes in the combined Sun/Earth magnetic systems going to give us a temporary break from the otherwise apparently runaway feedbacks of greenhouse gas mechanisms? (At the present time, I feel I am clutching at the straws of some reasonable hope for the former, to postpone the latter.)
THE WAYS THAT ATOMIC ENERGY WERE DEVELOPED WERE THE SPEAR POINT OF THE WAYS THAT A SOCIETY DOMINATED BY LIES BACKED BY VIOLENCE DID EVERYTHING WITH ATTITUDES OF EVIL DELIBERATE IGNORANCE. In my view, the irreconcilable social polarization trends are trumped by the irreparable destruction of the natural world trends. Those two trends are in vicious spirals with each one enabling the other. The problems of apes with atomic bombs were compounded by the ways that every economic decision was always made on the basis of the biggest bullies' bullshit prevailing, because everything was driven by the ways that lies were backed up with violence. Since nothing could stop that happening, nothing could stop the pattern of evil deliberate ignorance dominating the development of atomic energy, the same as everything else.
Personally, after several decades of attempting to do something about those trends, I have abandoned all reasonable hope for the future. In my own little life, I would say that conclusion became clear since about 2008 onwards. I no longer am able to maintain even the slightest shreds of idealistic optimism towards the foreseeable future. I have concluded that the triumphant control of civilization through enforced frauds, so much, for so long, enabling so much evil deliberate ignorance, about everything, from atomic energy on down, has already accumulated to the point of being irreversible.
That madness is NEVER going to end, but rather get worse, faster, for as long as we are still alive to be able to observe that happening ... Since all those trends follow exponentially accelerating, self-reinforcing paths, the time remaining for our lives to still feel somewhat "normal," or even within the "new normal," is disappearing. Some of us, in more privileged environments, may well have some years left to look forward to being able to act in our accustomed ways, inside of a "new normal" that has not yet gotten too extremely abnormal. However, depending upon the outcome of who turns out to have been more correct, Guy McPherson or Ben Davidson, as I linked above, then the next few decades could become MORE ABNORMAL THAN WE CAN CURRENTLY IMAGINE!
At the present time, I am personally betting that Ben Davidson provides some correct qualifications to Guy McPherson's views. Therefore, I believe that we may have some more time, inside that bigger picture, to allow the other basic forms of runaway madness, such as the MAD Money As Debt systems, backed by the MAD Mutual Assured Destruction systems, to play through. Of course, atomic energy was primarily developed in the ways that it was because society was controlled by the people who were the best at being dishonest, and backing that up with violence, so that atomic energy was primarily developed as weapons first, and then, the so-called "peaceful" uses of atomic energy were still primarily dominated by the considerations surrounding weapons production.
The ways that atomic energy were developed expressed the general ways that civilization was controlled by enforced frauds, operating with evil deliberate ignorance towards what was really happening. However, since EVERYTHING was happening in the same ways, the overall feedbacks of social polarization enabling more destruction of the natural world have, I now believe, reached the point where nothing remotely like the civilization that we knew will be able to survive through to the 22nd Century. There are no good reasons whatsoever that I can perceive to enable believing that human societies will stop being controlled by lies backed by violence, so that our problems are "solved" in ways that actually make them worse!
IF any human beings are still alive in the 22nd Century, then they will be living in ways which are impossible for us to imagine now, because virtually all of the natural world that we now take for granted will be gone by then. At the present time, I believe that the Sun is giving us a break from the consequences of the greenhouse gas mechanisms. However, basically, I still believe that human beings burning all the fuels that they could, as fast as they could, has practically cancelled out any future that I would like to imagine. Of course, the ways that atomic energy did that was the most extreme example, however, everything our civilization did with its advancing science and technology was done of the basis of that society being controlled by enforced frauds, which enabled attitudes of evil deliberate ignorance.
When I look around at the world today, I see no good grounds to believe that madness will ever end. The same basic mechanisms of lies backed by violence, through vicious spirals of social polarization, are obviously getting worse, faster, while the background events of the overall destruction of the nature world are trumping that, in ways whereby their runaway exponential accelerations are only just beginning to be noticed, before their next few doublings become an overwhelming avalanche of changes.
Anything which causes civilization as we know it to be unable to continue, will leave several hundred nuclear power plants in the lurch, as places of the maximum environmental destruction, surrounded by overall globalized environmental destruction. After worrying about that for several decades, and doing everything I possibly could to try to prevent that from happening, finally, during the last seven years, or so, I have come around to conclusions that nothing is going to stop that.
The madness is NEVER going to end!
Stop worrying. The upright walking ape will die off one way or another in the next 200 years. There's nothing anybody can do to stop it.
There are 7 billion people. 7 BILLION. When you reach 40 years of age, you will have lived to see population DOUBLE. An 80 year old has seen it quadruple. If that doesn't blow your mind then you must be dead already.
Obviously things are going to get ugly. In places like India, people wash and swim in a river of floating corpses and shit. As the over crowinding intensifies, humans will simply drown in their own sewage.
For the next few thousand years the planet will heal and become a beautiful place for what ever survives.

I disagreed with JR on his/her simplified 'socialism' but most certainly agreed with JR's worldwide impact etc ... : )
Agree with you about the main monkey business here/now...
Yeah, MEAN BUSINESS, the lyrics in that song mostly represent where I am coming from, although I DO get philosophical consolidations from a creative synthesis of post-modernizing science with ancient mysticism, which is no longer a "clockwork universe," as that song stated.
Primarily I was brought up with an academic technical education, based on the ideals of respect for rational evidence and logical arguments, as exemplified in the mathematical physics and chemistry, etc., that I was taught in school. (I first went to university from high school with scholarships based on my level of achievements in physics and chemistry.)
Nothing in my schooling prepared me to cope with gradually learning that the social world was actually controlled by lies backed by violence, which deliberately ignored rational evidence and logical arguments. However, bit by bit, from the 1970s onwards, I was forced to try to understand that social situation. The result is my current comprehension of the ways that the real world is dominated by systems of enforced frauds, which have driven the world mad, and made humanity become madly self-destructive.
Being able to understand how and why a civilization controlled by lies and violence is still consistent with the general laws of energy, manifesting through human beings, is my way of providing myself with some philosophical consolidations, although, understanding that appears to provide no practical benefits. That kind of understanding enables me to still believe that the universe as whole is perfect, even if civilization has become runaway psychotic insanities, such as presented by the ways it developed atomic energy. Understanding the special theory of relativity provides significant philosophical consolations, despite that the primary result of human beings doing that was to produce tens of thousands of atomic bombs, which have no sane use, other than to commit collective suicide.
While war with atomic bombs was always the fastest way that human civilization could commit suicide, that was like the figurehead on a ship that was sailing over a waterfall. Of course, at this point of time, I have no practical ways whatsoever to do anything about any of these kinds of developments.

Cog, I don't know about you, but if I am in a discussion with someone and they throw out a "never" or an "always" I am absolutely certain I can/will win that arguement. There WILL be an event that disproves a "never", and there are thousands of exceptions to every "always" that weak-minded people throw around. Especially when it comes to Mother Nature and Human Nature, there is nothing permanent except surprise and change.
Safeguards my ass. The only certainties are "unexpected" events and the power of nature to slap down human arrogance AGAIN.
I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. Those "experts" built a 60 foot seawall around Fukashima because there would "never" be a bigger wave. I hate to say it, but I was strangley pleased to hear that Mother Nature tossed a 61-foot wave over their tiny seawall. The arrogance is stunning and we never really learn do we?
>>>>Mother Nature
Don't be so sure.
Don't forget the improper emergency diesels installed that all failed. According to Greg Palast, every NPP in the world has the wrong diesels installed, and every one will fail if turned on in an emergency.
Saved a lot of money, though.
I would say its way to late to do anything about these reactors that are peppered around this country! what to do take the reactors apart and store the rods in a storage facility? this is fucked and we just keep stopping use of coal so in my estimation we are eventually gonna pay for nuclear electricity.
The fear I have is that a failure of the electrical grid would cause a catastrophe at these nuclear facilities far beyond our imagination across the US. Why the spent rods are stored and cooled at these facilities is beyond stupid. If all the cooling systems were shut off by some attack the likes of which a simple earthquake did in Japan here in the states life as we know it would cease to exist.
As the radiation increases around Fukushima Daiichi, once it becomes impossible for humans to be on site (very shortly), the cooling will all stop and everything left will self-ignite and burn into the atmosphere.
When this happens, human life will not be able to withstand the environment at Fukushima Daini, just down the coast, and those NPPs too will lose all cooling. They will all explode, and everything will burn, from the cores to the Spent Fuel Pools.
Not too long after that, Japan will run out of people to repair the other NPPs around the country, and they will all go off like dominos.
Now, add to this the possibility that Ebola hits the US. How soon will no one be able to repair the cooling systems at any of the US NPPs? It doesn't take more than 7 days without cooling for everything to go.
Add Canada, with their NPPs. Add China, Russia, India, Japan with Ebola, anyone with NPPs.
This is not an exercise in 'What If'. It's 'When'.
Just everyone say "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and it all goes away.
What a pretty picture you've painted for us all.
Truly terrifying.
Look on the bright side: humanity's descendants, if any, will be mutant Australians, and Argentines.
Radiation levels can be measured. So it should be easy to tell if the outbreaks coincide with increaded radioactivity. Disease outbreaks in oceans have been observed throughout recorded history. Not saying Fukishama isn't to blame, just saying a lot more evidence needs to be presented before sounding alarms.
There's no reason to sound any alarm at all. There is nothing anyone can do about it, as the radiation levels increase daily everywhere on the planet at this point.
It doesn't matter what any of us believe, thousands of tons of enriched uranium and plutonium are now worldwide in the wind and water.
I suggest smoking and drinking, and probably not having any more kids. No reason to watch them die some horrible death before 12.
Southern hemisphere may be alright, due to ocean and air currents trapping a lot of the radiation up here.
Good thing that there is vast amounts of habitable land in the Southern Hemisphere!
Thanks GW. Keep up the good work.
Also have a look at this guy's website on Fukushima: http://fukushima-diary.com/
How long before people around the world start getting cancer in large numbers?
1yr? 2 yrs? 4 yrs? 8 yrs? 16 yrs? 32 yrs? .....
A 57% increase in cancer rates in the next 20 years, according to the WHO:
http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/04/health/who-world-cancer-report/
Between the radiation and GMO food (a guarantee of cancer), in 20 years I think the percentage will go to four figures. But that's just me.
It's an epidemic in the kids around Fukushima:
'Japan Professor: Outbreak of cancer is now underway in Fukushima children; Clear evidence of an epidemic — All of Japan is still being exposed to nuclear radiation' http://enenews.com/japan-professor-outbreak-cancer-fukushima-children-cl...Another 2 years. Thyroid and leukemia.
You may well be right, failure to perform, however, since one out of three people are already expected to die from cancer, and there a myraid of ways we have already been poisoned, it will be difficult to discern what differences Fukushima makes.
Not in children. An epidemic of childhood cancers should be fairly clear to people, and children are the ones who have been / are going to absorb the most since they are growing fast.
Good point, Matt.
Don't worry, it'll get blamed on Climate Change.
No, it'll be blamed on naturally occurring cycles, or Al Gore's imagination.
Two things will happen and most of the gov. knows it. One, Japan will end up uninhabitable and two we won't be able to eat anything out of the ocean for centuries.
