Having released the name of the police officer that allegedly shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, the local police department has released the convenience store surveillance video that appears to show an altercation involving Brown.

I am as alarmed as anyone regarding not just the growing power of police but the whole damned governmental system we have hung about our necks, But...we are asking police to go into some areas that are no less hostile towards them than in Afghanistan. Our failure as a society and economy to prevent such environments justifies the militaristic presence we are now seeing. This like everything else we are witnessing, is not an accident or an unintended consequence of these policies. I would challenge anyone, with God or whatever symbol of kindness and love in their heart, to go into these areas wearing a badge, and not be in fear for your life. And watch while pissing and moaning about it, as this incident will only empower even greater enhancement of the police state, and even more sadly because of the looting and violence that this has demonstrated, the retaliation will not be focused on those people, but the ones our government sees as the real threat, the conservative white male, the right wing extremist that supports the constitution as law and not a lever to redistribute and grant new "rights" upon the extrovert minorities. The person who does not seek revenge or justice but simply wants to defend himself and his meager belongings. That is their enemy, their threat, their excuse.

There is likely an ongoing hostile environment in St. Louis involving a whole mess of crimes committed by blacks, and law enforcement long ago got fed up with courts that routinely slap these kids behinds very gently and set them loose again, over and over.
I find it frustrating that while one cop shot one teen, black teens in dozens of cities all over this country are shooting one another on a daily basis over such things as sneakers, drugs, and turf. The BLACK on BLACK murders are so routine they don't even make the news any more.

Anyone else remember seeing this in any photos/videos? So the word here in the 'Lou (St. Louis) is that the QT manager saw the entire confrontation-leading-to-shooting and reported it to the police. The police have a credible eye witness, combine this with the video of the robbery and it explains a lot.

I lived in ghetto for 15 years in a anti-bell um townhouse two blocks from the projects.
