As reported earlier, the governor of Missouri announced earlier his afternoon that starting midnight, a curfew will be imposed on Ferguson until 5 am as part of the state of emergency unviled by the governor. The only problem is that with about an hour to go, the protesters have filled the streets and are refusing to disperse, even as police in riot gear is present and roadblocks have been setup.

I want to be one of the first to go on record to predict Capt. Ron Johnson will soon be on his way to meet with President Obama. This will allow the President to make a forceful statement flanked by Johnson and community leaders as to how tragic this all is and chalk it up to racism pure and simple. Reality is, and you would know this if you read anthropology, that civilisations develop dependent upon location, available resources, trade routes, economic opportunity, potential expansion, technological trading, war materials, etc. If you are cut off from the world, have poor resources, and there is no opportunity to expand, then you collapse. This is clear for America: they have exhausted resources, enslavement, war, allies, and even expansion it seems. What happens then? It disintegrates, rots; it cannot develop.

Civilisations developed in the middle of ideal lands: great resources, potential for trade, defensible, close to the seas, contact with allies/enemies stimulating development. Now, what do you think happens on the outskirts of Africa? Do you think they's swim to North America in competition with ships or armies? The Egyptians enslaved much of Africa, just how many slaves do you think it took to build the pyramids? If you look at North American indigenous culture you will find that across what is now America there are burial grounds from war parties of the Mayans and Aztecs seeking slaves - and across the farthest reaches of North America indigenous people knew stories of these slave civilisations.

I generally appreciate the intellectual honesty of ZH that challenges the propaganda of the status quo. It is through struggle that we progress ("necessity is the mother of invention "). But, I have to say I find the racist crap in the contents on articles like this frustrating. Would that all those spewing racist crap grew up on the projects in Chicago with a failed education system and broken family unit (which is in no small part due to decades of perverse welfare policies), or even more appropriately, a dirt poor village in Liberia now struggling with Ebola. We stand on the shoulders of those who've gone before us. Few are truly totally self made. Rather than wasting time, energy and resource channeling hate (which serves those who would keep us divided along racial, religious and ethnic lines), we need to focus on investing in ourselves and others to rebuild self sufficiency and resilience from the community level up. And trust me, we ARE our brother's keeper because the destructive potential of the individual will continue to grow over time. If we continue to grow the number of people who either have nothing to lose out l or believe they have nothing to lose, it will lead to a much less safe and less stable society for all of us. Think about it. How much damage could you do if you purely wanted to inflict pain on others? We all have a profound interest in trying to reestablish hope and opportunity for all in this country.
