National Guard Sent To Ferguson After Night Of "Molotov Cocktails, Shootings, Looting And Vandalism "
After three consecutive days of rioting and looting in Ferguson, MO, despite a second night of curfews which was honored by few if any, Missouri's governor said on Monday he would send the National Guard into the violent suburb to "restore calm" after authorities forcibly dispersed yet another crowd overnight. Gov. Jay Nixon signed an executive order deploying the U.S. state militia, saying demonstrators had thrown Molotov cocktails and shot at police as well as a civilian, a description of the night's events diverging widely from some eyewitness accounts.
“Tonight, a day of hope, prayers, and peaceful protests was marred by the violent criminal acts of an organized and growing number of individuals, many from outside the community and state, whose actions are putting the residents and businesses of Ferguson at risk," Nixon said in a statement on his website.
As we reported overnight, around dusk on Sunday, hundreds of protesters in Ferguson including families with young children fled to safety after police wearing gas masks and body armor fired tear gas and smoke canisters to scatter them hours ahead of the curfew.
Reuters cites a protester who said that "The smoke bombs were completely unprovoked," said Anthony Ellis, 45. "It (the protest) was led by kids on bikes. Next you know they're saying, 'Go home, Go home!'" Of course, one could say the gunshots that led to injured people were also unprovoked but that is merely in the realm of the rational, something the Ferguson situation has long gone beyond.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said "aggressors" were trying to infiltrate a law enforcement command post and that armored vehicles were deployed to ensure public safety. "We ordered them back. We ordered them back again. After several attempts, we utilized the smoke to disperse these individuals," said Highway Patrol Corporal Justin Wheetley. State Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson told a late night news briefing: "Molotov cocktails were thrown, there were shootings, looting, vandalism and other acts of violence that clearly appear not to have been spontaneous."
He was explaining the police tactics against what he said had to that point been a peaceful demonstration.
"Coordinated acts" by a few in the crowd were "premeditated criminal acts designed ... to provoke a response," Johnson said. "I had no alternative but to elevate the level of our response." He noted most of the protesters were peaceful and blamed the trouble on "a few people bent on violence and destruction."
Johnson said the trouble began after police responded to the shooting of a civilian at 8.25 p.m., which was followed by gunfire directed towards police and Molotov cocktails being thrown. At least one other person was shot, and several were arrested. No police were injured.
One wonders, considering that virtually every provocation in the international arena in 2014 has been premediated and choreographed, usually by the intelligence forces of this superpower or that, whether the same applies to Ferguson, and whether this push to impose an even more active, blanket weaponized police presence in backwater "violent" US towns is all part of a bigger scheme to make already massive government even bigger?
The biggest winner, however, from last night's events: children. Officials said Ferguson schools would be closed on Monday.

Second, there is no known actionable liability on the part of the parent(s) here.

The evidence suggests that the cop or cops who shot michael brown did it with the intent to kill him even though he was unarmed and he could have been subdued without lethal force. I don't know for sure, I wasn't there. If what is being reported is true, then the cop in this case is wrong and should be held accountable for the murder he committed. I do not agree with looting and vandalism, but something has to be done about these out of control cops. The system is corrupted and we all know that this cop will walk away with no consequences. It happens all of the time.
This is just going to get worse. Remember, the cops are brainwashed to believe that EVERYONE is an armed terrorist. How many more videos do we need to see of cops beating unarmed women and men incapable of defending themselves before people wake up and realize we have a problem. If local governments can't hold their goon squads accountable, then citizens will start fighting back with the same lethal force.

Like I said, I wasn't there, I don't know the real story. The looting and violence by the thugs is wrong. My point is police get away with murder all of the time. Here is an example from my town. If you want to believe a kid who is handcuffed with his hands behind his back and sitting in a police car can shoot himself in the head, I don't know what to tell you. Oh, and the camera in the car was conveniently off. These kind of stories with questionable circumstances happen on a daily basis.

I cannot disagree with the points you make. I have been railing against the "shoot first ask questions later" mentality that we've seen from The Authority especially in the last 2 years. When it first started happening no one seemed to mind, especially the folks that you expect to get outraged when it comes to the abuse of power. I'm speaking about "news" outlets like the NY Times, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, Huffington, ABC, etc...
Even the ACLU has been more quiet than I can remember in my lifetime and I'm pretty damned old. It is disconcerting as it points to the Authority being more angry and aggressive than the people who have been the victims of government mismangagement/corruption in so many areas, especially from a monetary policy standpoint which is seemingly only getting worse.
However, this MO situation has gone on enough. I had no problem with the first few days of peacful protest, bringing attention to a situation that may have otherwise been ignored and thought the Authority caused an uptick in hostilities when they showed up with military style equipment before any real trouble or violence took place.
Now the people have deviated from the original purpose of protesting and have turned it into a free for all looting/stealing and destruction of property that has not only doesn't have a legitimate place in society, it obscures the original action and invalidates most of the "protestors" and defines them as nothing more than common criminals exploiting a suspicious police shooting for their own personal gain. Anyone justifying looting, stealing, and destroying personal property in the name of Mike Brown displays the epitome of intellectual dishonesty.
The narrative that all of this random stealing, robbing, destruction and engaging in general mayhem until "justice" is done is totally farcical. American Justice has never happened in an instance. This current justification that "No Justice, No Peace" is tantamount to demanding the lynching of this officer in the town square right now or the nonsense will continue. Make no mistake, the act of lynching today is color blind. An angry mob engaging in vigilante justice with the only appeasment being the punishment of the suspect before a trial can take place and facts laid out is nothing more than lynching. I hate it when the Authority implores folks to "Let the process work before judging" but in this case its the only thing the people can do and "the process" won't even begin until order is restored. The longer it takes to start the longer it takes to desired results. Even being found guilty, caught with their hand in the cookie jar, the dreaded and harsh penalty of "censure" hardly enables the punishment to fit the crime.

Judging by how the riots have been handled by the police, it's safe to say they're not able to handle the riots either. I think a few thousand additional national guardsmen will help significantly. The police are simply not arresting the rioters.
