NATO Admits Putin Holds "Short-Term Cards", But "Won't Be Around Forever"
Following a summit in Brussels, a senior NATO diplomat proudly proclaimed that 'allies' have pledged more spending and will beef up its presence in Eastern Europe. However, likely to the chagrin of President Obama (and the West's narrative), he let slip some uncomfortable truths:
- *NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS PUTIN HOLDS TACTIAL SHORT-TERM CARDS (hhmm, ok)
- *NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS LONG-TERM GEOPOLITICAL TRENDS FAVOR THE WEST (phew...)
- *NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS PUTIN WON'T BE AROUND FOREVER (threat or warning?)
So, all the west has to do is be patient? Wait out Putin? We suspect that 'strategy' may get accelerated at some point.

Neither will NATO.
Wow, NATO and the USSA must be getting their butts kicked in the Ukraine to make these kinds of noises. Probably has something to do with triple dip recessions in Europe, agricultural sanctions, demands for more useless military spending from bankrupt EU economies, budding anger over the MH17 False Flag...
As for short term advantages, I guess it will be a few years before the USSA figures out how to magically levitate NatGas to the EU, at the same price as Russian gas, LOL
Neither will the EU.
Neither will the Milky Way
Not even the Fifth dimension is safe in the longer run.
BTW, the Ukies are threatening to sanction russian Nat Gas to the EU, forcing huge gas shortages upon the Europeans. I thought the point of the Ukraine joining the EU was to further economic integration.
With Allies like the Ukies, who needs enemies, LOL!
Nothing like a friendly enema.
(threat or warning?)
Can I call my lawyer before I answer that?
He will be conducting it on your wallet.
I suppose the U.S. gov didn't think Castro would be around forver either...
Putin "won't be around forever..." But Zionism and the Fed Bank will, that's what the guy is saying. American beauracrats are the most pathetic, slave ship muther fuckers on Earth. What a bunch of slaves.
Silly NATO.
Currently the US has two dynasties - the Bushes and the Clintons.
Russia can't do the same?
"Currently the US has two dynasties - the Bushes and the Clintons."
Same dynasty...the US has just one.
Do they even have nail guns in Russia?
TOPOL-M
The western elites are desperately trying to come up with alternatives that hide the fact that through their own insatiable economic imperialism, they have now yielded the moral high ground to Russia. Quite a trick, given Russia's and Putin's record, but if it's a choice between Russian power and western elite hegemony, Russia is coming out on top. They may be a one-eyed king, but they are currently matched against the blind.
Putin may stay in power longer than NATO may remain solvent. He won't be around for 50 more years, but sure as hell is planning to sit at the side of the river long enough to see the corps of his enemies float by.
Right, what does it matter whether Putin is around 50 years from now? Russian forces could stealth-invade eastern Ukraine this year and take it. Once that happens, NATO can't risk The Big One by attacking them, so it's Russia's to keep. (Um, NATO aren't that stupid as to take the world to the nuclear brink for the sake of Ukraine, are they?
No one ever goes broke overestimating the stupidity of the general public.
John Mearsheimer writing in the Council on Foreign Relations's Thought-Police-Mouthpiece-Monthly...
Why the Ukraine Crisis Is the West’s Fault
http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/141769/john-j-mearsheimer/why-the...
NATO couldn't get the war they wanted after months of carnage and property destruction in Ukraine so they issue veiled threats against Putin? Are they really that stupid?
They are not quitting until they drag us all into another conflict. That's all they're good for. They're like gangs who don't know how to earn money any other way but criminality.
"Forget Visa and MasterCard. After the two American credit system payment companies froze accounts without notice in March, Russia has been looking for an alternative in China UnionPay. China UnionPay plans to have 2 million cards in Russia in the next three years.
Instead of seeing the small Visa and MasterCard logo on credits cards, ATMs, and retail outlets, Russians will start to see the three words “China. Union. Pay.”
China UnionPay first emerged in 2002 on the domestic Chinese market as an alternative to Visa and MasterCard, but quickly expanded internationally, and now is already number one in terms of quantity of cards in the world.
Russia’s biggest banks - VTB- Gazprombank, Promsvyazbank, Alfa Bank, MTS, and Rosbank- are already making technical preparations, running tests on Union Bank cards.
“VTB24 already serves China UnionPay cards in its ATM network and now the bank is in negotiations with this payment system to start acquiring retail merchants,” VTB24’s press office said in a statement."
http://rt.com/business/180696-china-russia-union-pay/
The other side to the Unionpay story is that Putin/Russia did not foresee the risk of having american credit cards being the only major credit cards in Russia. Nor did they see the threat of the SWIFT system and how it was a potential financial weapon. Nor did they see the threat of using US computer operating systems and having their computer systems supplied by a US company.
I mean really, who did not know the CIA types were using backdoors and delivering compromised computers. And Russia has them in sensitive areas including their banking industry.
Putin is many ways is moving forward but is having to catch up to where he should have had Russia years ago. Including supplying gas to China, direct money/trade exchanges without the dollar on all this. Catching up is not a sign of being a master chess player in the recent past.
It was Yeltsin who opened up the chicken coop to the CIA/NSA/bankster foxes.
Most Americans are still unaware of how compromised their lives are.
Key Observation - was Putin distracted or just not thinking?
it goes well beyond your list to - Yanocovich - why didnt he - once he saw the USA intent from intelligence he had - concerning the coup / nudelman - direct Yanocovich to change to federation as soon as he was elected and therefore home rule for Yanacovich home territory in east ukraine? it would have been simple then
further the pipeline which USA wants to buy now from Kiev - he could have sold or privatized in 2004 with Yanocovich in place and then there would be no threat
and that is what we can see - many more issues probably - he was asleep for some strange reason
Americans must break the stranglehold the corporate media has over its public opinion. By ignoring the slaughter of Eastern Ukrainians while at the same time describing the people of Eastern Ukraine as “parasites,” “terrorists” and “insurgents,” it is engaging in the rhetoric that precedes genocide. For what purpose?
Richard Walker says in “Will Putin Step in to Stop Genocide?” in the August issue of AFP, that Petro Porosenko’s junta government’s “aim is to define the opposition as ‘subhuman,’ thereby making it easier to justify eradicating them.”
Walker garnered an interview with a former Russian diplomat familiar with the Ukraine crisis who agreed to speak on the promise of anonymity. This is what he had to say:
“The hype out of Washington is not only bad for East-West relations, it has the potential for a wider conflict. The campaign to define Vladimir Putin as an enemy of the West and the man responsible for the crisis in Ukraine is false and dangerous. He is the one leader in all of this who has shown restraint. He could have chosen the same option the U.S. once used when it entered the Kosovo crisis by opting for the principle of ‘responsibility to protect.’ He could have used it as a pretext for invading Eastern Ukraine to stop the slaughter of ethnic Russians. Instead, he has chosen not to do so because he knows it would create a wider conflict.
“I believe he knows NATO would like him to invade Eastern Ukraine to justify NATO’s expansionist policies. He has also not overreacted to NATO’s encirclement of Russia. How would Americans feel if Russian forces were on their borders? It does not require much intelligence to see a Cold War agenda motivating Washington. That worries many Europeans, who live next to Russia and do business with it.
“As I see it, there is a danger this crisis will lead to something much more serious. Every leader can be pushed too far and for Putin there are pressures within as well as without. Efforts to hurt Russia economically are not only vindictive but invite retaliation. There is a point where escalation becomes inevitable. Realpolitik calls for cooler heads. Sadly, the anti-Russian mindset has taken hold in Washington and London, too.”
"Americans must break the stranglehold the corporate media has over its public opinion."
You had me right there. The Ukraine situation is but one of many places where the inability for the citizens of the US to have access to accurate information is a stepping stone to imperial fascism. I do my best to introduce people I know or meet to alternative ideas. One person at a time.

silence is deafening since MH17 black boxes were analyzed.
On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.
Yes, but living 1000 comfortable years sure beats living a 100 miserable ones, so that kind of makes your statement sort of irrelevant.
Living 10,000 comfortable years is even better, highly recommanded.
on a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero
Or the dollar
Tought EU Countries are all so far in debt.. They have to implement austerity and more taxes..
So where is the money for more NATO spending coming from?
Sounds like a Polonium-210 cocktail is in the cards for Putin
Was gonna say something similar. This is the nice way of saying "we are trying to kill you Putin".
Said cocktail more likely in the cards for the 'diplomat' who made the tacit threat.
I do not doubt for a second the West will try to give him the Hugo Chavez treatment...
....or the USSA in its current form.
So, that's their Plan B. Outlive Putin? Ha!
Putin is barely 61 years old, born in 1952. Given his physique, judo exercises and food control etc he must be doing, he will probably live until 90, which is a good 30 years, so we just have to wait until 2044 rolls around...that's all.
Given that Castro, a fellow communist, is 88 years today, being born in 1926, luck may be on Putin's side.
Let's hope the NATO politicians will be around to kick some Russian ass..... in 2044!
BTW, this is what Putin does in his spare time, as he told Naomi Campbell in 2011: http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/comment/articles/2011-01/31/gq-comment-naom...
If Putin survives, as much as Russia's oldest man who died in 2012 at 122 years of age, then see you all....in 2075!!
Interestingly, Putin is 61 years today so we just have to wait another 61 years until 2075, if he lives until 122 years.
6 + 1 = 7, another 6 + 1 = 7. Putin is living the lucky life! Just ask Madame Lagarde. 7 may indeed be his lucky number.
http://rt.com/news/oldest-man-labazanov-dies-dagestan-902/
Putin will live to be 100.
He ain't in a hurry to leave his new wife.

Ya know what I'm sayin here?
looking at the 2nd pic you can fuck her and get your balls licked at the same time.
No wonder she affectionately calls him Vlad The Impaler.
There's always one in every crowd that has to bring it down to the most base level ........ of clarity ......
......flash image Hiltlery and Legarde scissoring........ awwww phuck I made myself yak
Sounds like republicans talking about democrats.
It is, the names have been changed to protect the insurgents.
Europe is in deep shit, but it's not like Russia is living large. When there isn't enough to go around I guess you have to consider taking what you want.
so they afraid of one man? LOL or what? not Russia, they afraid of Putin ...
exactly, confusing cause and effect. Russia will be around a lot longer than Putin. Putin is more of an effect than a cause - a conduit for a strong Russian foreign policy (read: not taking it in the ass from the West), but that can be achieved by others.
it says more than that - it says LONG TERM - they cannot buy him
he is not the simple standard WHORE politician they are use to in the USA and Europe
he is a Nationalist like Ho Cho Ming- he will fight to the death !!!!!!!!!!
which is good for all Americans since DC knows they will lose against him when the temporary occupants of the white house are in charge
What if he plays his cards...in the short term?
So, NATO and Obama's strategy is to put their fingers in their ears and go, "LA LA LA LA LA, I'm not LISTENING" like Pee Wee Herman for 10 years or so?
What a train wreck Obama is...
The State Department released Putin's cholesterol levels with analysis by the CDC. Putin is toast.
To think they wasted 1000's of gallons of fuel amd interupted O's vacation only to give the impression hes tirelessly working fo teh peoples...
Expect a press release that hes on his way back in time for lunch,,
"Putin won't be around forever"
I don't know. Some of these people can hang around forever. McShitstain, Kissenger, Soros... the list goes on of people who just won't go away. Regardless with "diplomats" like the asshole from NATO it's not surprising that tensions abound.
Vampires can live for centuries...
See "Dick Chaney"
As played by Lon Chaney.
Zbigniew Brzezinski and Paul Wolfowitz. If it's a coincidence that US foreign policy going back 50 years exactly matches the think-tank drivel those two have pumped out for decades, let's just say I would be quite surprised.
Its probably very useful that Putin has a background as a KGB officer. It likely takes that kind of personal knowledge to survive in today's geopolitical world.
Add to that that Putin is a great example for someone new. So his successor could very well be very similar.
I'm still trying to work out what long term cards he thinks NATO has.
I can't think of one right now.The bear is fully awake now , maybe he thinks
he can outrun everybody else.
They are waiting for europe to start printing money too.
These comments should have been expected. Since this Ukraine Issue popped up, the tactics have been such that Putin was moved from the head of the table, to the end of the table, to another table in the crowded banquet room.
All that is being said is they intend to remove Putin from the banquet room. I don't expect the West will have to do much as the Russian political culture is very "intense". I suspect Putin's appeal amongst his lieutenants has been muted as of late. If Putin cannot get geo-political traction, one of his minions will step up.
Expect domestic pressure to build within Russia over the next year. This will link back to the mess/corruption surrounding the Olympic Games. Both instances, the Ukraine Issue and the Olympic Games Fiasco make Putin look bad.
"the Olympic Games Fiasco"
what are you talking about?
He's proof that Candians are finally growing better weed than that schwag they used to grow.
I'd guess they call that 'No Reality Haze'.
Google "Olympic Games corruption sochi".
If that is too difficult, here is the link:

You should ask for a raise. It can't be easy playing at your level of feigned ignorance...
God doesn't give raises...
That explains a lot...
Sochi Olympics excellent. Looked gorgeous on TV. Russia -- with GDP per capita on a par with Portugal -- won more Gold medals and more total medals than such filthy rich powerhouses as Germany and the US. Opening and closing ceremonies dealt in a beautiful and moving way with Russian history and culture. If the West is so great and Russia so lousy, why do we give the world (in our Super Bowl half-time shows) a steady diet of raunchiness replete with wardrobe malfunctions, whereas Russia gives us Dostoevskiy and Tolstoy? Russia depicted Stalinist repression in its Olympic ceremonies; can you imagine us owning up to to our abortion holocaust (30 million dead babies since Roe v. Wade) in a Super Bowl pageant?
With Vlad's approval rating in the high 80's don't hold your breath..
Doesn't matter to cannuckhead. He is a jewish, ukrainian ,canadian at best,
or just a fool at worst.
You get a cold call asking if you support Putin. The line goes quiet. No conversation. The dead air sends a message. After a few moments of thought, you answer yes. The caller thanks you for your support and hangs up.
But what is that about? Reworking a cheap piece of propaganda?
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-15/europe-says-would-consider-any-...
This flow of drivel would not pass any test of quality assurance. Reworking a propaganda of cheapness is not any sort of innovation and does not yield a propaganda of higher value.
This guy is a sad case as he can not provide better propaganda, only that which has been debunked over and over again.
It entertains somewhat in that this kind of people never start to realize how cheap their propaganda is. Do they never grow tired of displaying their limited capacity for thought?
Thanks for taking the time and effort to dig out some of my old material.
The noteworthy idiocy you exhibited seemed very familiar, as though you'd posted it within the last few days. Turns out its vintage was only three days ago.
It didn't really require any digging, as it was more like scooping a dog turd back into the neighbor's yard.
Hmmm.... can you provide your NSA security clearance for the readers of ZH?
I hope to God this above comment was sarcasm. Putin doesn't give two shits about being 'at the table' with Obama. He thinks Obozo should be serving lunch and shining his shoes.
Putin needs a dance partner. I think he hopes Germany will come around. I don't expect that will happen. Time will show Putin to be a voice in the wilderness. If that were to happen, the oligarchs in Russia will want someone with greater influence running the country. That will set up an interesting dynamic.
Putin is dancing with the prettiest girl in room full of dogs - the Chinese girl.
... Like this one?
http://1000uglypeople.com/ugly-women-bad-teeth/chinese-woman-laughing-ugly-woman-with-bad-teeth/
You make it too easy.
You are trying too hard. Relax and think things through.
Please up the standard of propaganda. This one is definitively too low.
Being the 4th Stooge, you know better than most to not overplay the crowd...
canuckle head
can you here him comin
hear those talmudic ape knuckles draggin along the floor
Thank you for your kind words. As everyone knows, a talmudic ape still scores significantly higher than your typical ZH commenter.
Your problem is you know you will lose. You just dont' know how it will happen.
here have a up tick
nothing nicer than a happy ending
Why do you always find yourself in a position where others are giving you a happy ending?
...... I'm sure Vlad is real broken hearted at losing his seat at the beggars banquet head table with the real life equivalent of Dirty Mike and the boys really who in their right friggin mind can take any of these G7 clowns seriously, they beat their chests like they are somebody but at the end of the day all they have to offer the world is a screw party in a broken down prius..... so sad we could achieve so many great things but squandered it all for what ........ actually that screw party is starting to sound alright.......
Putin wants a dance partner. He has little chance in finding one.
Don't worry, the Germans, French, Belgians and Austrians will be dancing with him plenty come November when winter hits. Europe has fucked their energy policy following insane green party political nonsense, they will be giving it out to Putin for candy bars in the parking lot of the Gazprom sock hop.
@Canucklehead
SHOULDN'T THAT BE JUST "KNUCKLEHEAD"I didn't realize you can look at my moniker quite that way. Thanks for pointing out the error on my part. I thought I was picking a name that commanded respect.
hi nucklehead, have a look at Putins popularity since this crisis began.
don't you get anything right? lol
I assume we look at this issue differently. If that is the case, I have gotten two things right as it relates to your comment.
What a bunch of faggots.
Speaking of "Not around forever"... isn't Foghorn Rasmussen's term coming to an end real soon?
End of September.
He needs some medals quick.
I always pictured the Danes as sensible people too. I guess everybody has got a cross to bear.
The implicit assumption in the headline is that there's some sort of virtue in all of the rest of us drowning in NATO/EU bureacracy.
sounds like a threat to me
sounds like something tony soprano would say
if i was putin i would make it clear that if any accident should happen nato hq gonna get a topol rocket droppin down on dat glass rabbinical zionist shithole
Wonder what happens to the dead mans switch the Russians have,
if an accident befell Putin.
Just like Fidel Castro.
Two words: Fidel Castro
Now I live in SE Florida and can pretty much assure you when he finally dies of cancer in his very old age, the equally frail old guard Cuban immigrants down here will proclaim that we/they finally got him.
BTW - speaking of Cuba and Putin on the Ritz as in FLorida Ritz Carlton in the Keys: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/putin-meets-fidel-castro-pledges-oil-e...
And I am old enough to barely recollect Kennedy and the Cuban missile crisis. And Obama ain't no Kennedy.
Kick NATO out of Europe now!
"NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS LONG-TERM GEOPOLITICAL TRENDS FAVOR THE WEST"
Really? How so, please? I only see a flat broke EU with grim no-growth perpectives, austerity measures and stocks of unsold Polish apples. And the USA tirelessly printing magic money out of thin air, while the BRICS are trading their a... off in other currencies. How does all that "favor the West"?
Hmmm?
C'mon. We got Ipads and the wonderful citizens of Ferguson, MO.
Add to that the west having a completely corrupt economic model that has already transferred 80% of its wealth into the hands of a small group of banksters(Vitali Glattfelder and Battiston , 2011). This means the assumption by the NATO diplomat that somehow, despite the parasite taking 80% of what the west produces, it will economically overcome parasite free economies where 100% of wealth creation is recycled to the people. This assumption looks utterly and completely idiotic. Does the NATO diplomat have a name so we can see who not to vote for in future?
Maybe he meant the regions WEST OF THE WEST...?
yeah highly negative 'trends'
So fuckin' what if Putin isn't around. Insert new leader ready to take his place!
Far more important here is the admittance of losing the war - even with their dominant hold on the propaganda machine. Pretty pathetic it would seem.
Queue Ukraine hissy fit.
The hope is that the banksters would get to install their own puppet if Putin were suddenly out of the way. I view it as a NATO threat, the sand in their hourglass is quickly running out.
Calling DevernDave! still short?
Whatever happened to that Russian convoy that was destroyed in Ukraine Friday? NATO said they detected it. So far no bodies, no pictures, no videos. It's like it never happened.
I'm still waiting on the whole MH17 evidence and all.....I will be waiting for a while I am sure.
"It's like it never happened."
Correct. It was just BS propaganda. NATO's claim to have detected it was no different to UK Cameron's claim to have spoken to Poroshenko about it.
They are photoshopping those pictures proofs as we speak, professional work requires time!
That's a diplomat? LOL! What a joke NATO is.
The ZeroHedge byline, anyone?
clearly the Zionists are trying to maintain this irrelevant institute. NATO = FASCIST/NAZI arm.
It needs to be removed.
Threat? These mofo are looking to knock him off like forever, but so far they have had their arses handed to them. Honestly, Putin/BRICS should speedily ready the new system and then KO these mofo's becoz the longer they wait the higher the chance they will succeed.
The West bullshit is hitting a new time high and I'm guessing the East/Putin are squeezing their nuts so hard they are going purple right now.
*NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS "NO ONE THREATENS DOLLAR HEGEMONEY BY SUGGESTING OIL BE SOLD FOR ROUBLES"
*NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS "OTHERS HAVE TRIED CIRCUMVENTING THE PETRODOLLAR. WHERE ARE THEY NOW?"
*NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS "WE REALLY BLEW UP A RUSSIAN TANK COLUMN THIS WEEKEND. SERIOUSLY."
NATO "diplomat"?
more like a NATO zealot with his supposed revelations proselytizing for a one world militarism
Talk like this is really a sign of desperation. It means that NATO's expansionary paradigm is out of options and out of ideas. The only thing the West can do now is to try to back out of this confrontation with Russia without losing too much face. Putin has even given them several opportunities to do that and they've still screwed it up.
Off topic: I'm having some issues with this site. Neither the chat feature nor the up/down vote arrows are working. I'm not sure if it's a ZH problem or my own machine.
Your system I believe, but does happen from time to time, close the article and try re-opening it.
Thanks. I tried it in a different browser and it seems to be doing better now.
I can't up or down vote from either one of two different computers.
Hey Jackass, er, sorry Grampa... Mr. Moron,
Are you actually (gasp!) disavowing Oswald Arnold Gottfried? Have you actually modified your sophomoric armchair General views?
How can you say that "this is really a sign of desperation" and "means that NATO's expansionary paradigm is out of options and out of ideas" when you well know and are convinced that a "a small band of 10,000 ragtag barbarians can make quick work of a decadent, overripe civilization as long as they're not afraid to suffer losses.
After all, Sheer, shit-faced audacity may not be the best strategy in the world, but it gets the job done."
NATO has more than 10,000 "ragtag barbarians" and the best war weaponry on the planet.
Don't weasel out of this Grampa, please rationalize, project, and explain...
Long-term geopolitical trend is that US/EU/NATO are bankrupt and their power largely collapses. Fixed it.
obama is gone in the near future and as for putin, he runs the show indefinitely....... the ussa is trying to rev things up in st petersburgh but it will be squashed by putin...
obama put the ukraine turd on the table to begin with.... graystone mercs, snipers and revolt against an elected govt...
as a result ( "ill be more flexible in my second term") putin got crimea... ukraine was historically part of russia and it was only the shoe-thumping squat thrust ignorant farmboy nikita kruschev from the ukraine that made it autonomous.. homeboy makes good..
the obumbler is overloaded with iraq, hamas, libya, illegals, ebola, ferguson and GOLF..... HE IGONRES HIS DAILY INTEL BRIEF AND RELIES ON cnn FOR INTEL, THEN BLAMES THE INTEL CREW FOR FAILURE TO INFORM HIM... WTF??????? coupled with his trainng and arming isis/isil/is/the caliphate in the first place and then calling them the JV..... if anything is third rate or jv obumbler can see it simply by looking in the mirror....
At the risk of stating the utterly obvious... Pres. Putin best stay away from:
Ukraine, Malaysia Airways, Nail guns, lone Walks along freeways, Belts and Ropes, Anti-Depressants, Base Jumping, and... Spiked Cocktails.
p.s. His Security Detail had better keep a Geiger counter near him, lest a Foreign Power use its intel assets to direct a "radiation cannon" at him from a distance outside the Secure Perimeter (a la Arafat). Ditto for a microwave detector, lest someone try to damage/fry his brain from a ways off. It takes a KG Bastard to protect him from Cagey Bass Turds.
Putin will be around until the 2020's at the very least. He has a dictatorial grip on the power structure but so far he has played it "by the book" for propaganda purposes. He will be around 70 when his fourth term ends, assuming he makes it that far. One can only hope he steps aside by that point, but he probably sees himself as the czar so it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to "be involved" until his death.
Obama will be gone before Putin and then maybe the next US president won't want to get into a dick swinging contest, we might even get a Diplomat and somebody who is able to think about repercussions further than 3 months in advance, I'm not confident, but maybe.
I wouldn't count on that....
Hmm, Decepticrats: Hillary, Biden
Republicons: Jeb, Christy, Cruz, Rand, Ryan
Looks like the diplomacy barrel is empty to me. (except for Rand, curtailing foreign adventuring [not to say meddling!])
lol, "won't be around forever"; although true for all; is a two edged sword when spoken in terms of short term geopolitical knee jerks.
Hint, hint; is there polonium now floating in the air?
This translates into:
"Oh, fuck no. Our EU sanction partners are running like rats from the Titanic.
No Gummybears to Russia!"
EU has been emasculated by the Eurocrats then NATO puts out such moronic statement on a Monday! OMG what will the rest of the week be like?
But I always understood that on a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero?
Here you can watch a movie about Putin's personal life:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byNdb5_uRmA
He swims and exercises every morning, and eats healthy food.
The movie doesn't show his personal harem, but I sure every nice girl wants to spend a night with him.
He'll enjoy life for quite some time.
Not just one... any sensible girl would want to be up close and personal for quite some time!
Yes, this threat, he will be not for ever arround... It is enough to have him until USA goes bust and with USA the whole NATO. Long ago, before USA goes bust, EU will not exist any more. Yes, then Putin can easily retire.
Putin may croak at some point, but his legacy to Russia and the rest of the global 'we ain't no damn U.S. sycophants' crowd will live on for a long, long time.
Besides - Vladdy-Poot will finger a successor before he leaves, one that will carry on the mission.
So this is an admission by NATO that they are without any real strategy, without any real leverage against Russia ('cause Russia just keeps advancing in spite of the "costs" of repeatedly kicking the West in the balls) and without any brains.
Note to the NATO boneheads: Putin is working hard and smart to solidify what you call his merely "tactical" cards into fully strategic ones, while you are shooting your foot hard in order to squander what little advantage you have left.
... Joe, you don't know...
Stick around for 30 weeks and then tell us what you think.
"Putin won't be around forever"?
Thanks for summarizing the whole thing in a meaningless tautology.
Big picture is Putin will not be around forever true enough but guess what will all: that oil and natural gas, generaly desired tangible assets and all the untouched land in Siberia.
Also will be around to stay is Russia's ambitious utterly bold moves being made in the Artic...zionist think that they have legit claim to the world because they are the best fraudsters and liars the world hath ever created...The rest of the world sees our government as a loose cannon, syphilitic basket case that has to be humored and paid attention to because they have big guns and nukes but the rest of the world has hardly any gripes with the general American people wat did we ever do to them accept for look like idiots wen we travel to their countries to spend money...
Putin said keep your guns! listen to the Ivan whitey!
Hmm, I wonder if Putin has ever been threatened before? Maybe this is new to him?
"NATO DIPLOMAT SAYS LONG-TERM GEOPOLITICAL TRENDS FAVOR THE WEST" LOL
Clown forgets that the GEO-ECONOMIC trends do not. And under capitalism, economics trumps in the long run.
Guess what the clown-person really means is that NATO must go to war to counter the geo-economic trend running against it.
Duh. If NATO guy would read ZH he would know that on a long enough timeline everybody's survival rate (including NATO's) drops to zero.
Assmuppet, Russia has a GDP equal to Italy. THe TRADE War currently raging will decimate Russia. The west will feel pain as you described no doubt but it will only be pain. Say goodbye to Mr.Polonium.
lmao
Can't say I agree. One thing about the Russians, they are used to suffering and they will again if they have to. From starting to develop a generation of Russians who wanted to be American, the US is about to turn another generation into 'the US is an evil empire' believers'. That is a powerful support for Putin.
One of the unintended consequences of the trade war is that whereas Russia can ride out a temporary reduction in food supply and exports, probably leading to a drop in its net purchases from the world, its exports of gas, and rarely heard about but more difficult to replace, oil will continue meaning their currency reserves will increase, making the country financially stronger. If at the same time, as its contracts roll over, it moves to Ruble or gold payment, this will be another nail in the US$. Definitely part of the US plan that one!
Also, if the West capitulates and both sets of sanctions are dropped, the West should not expect the same level of business next year or again. Russia is making new partners this year and it seems that if you are a friend of Russia you can stay one as long as you treat them right. The opposite also applies.
hyperbole your name fits your rhetoric?
I gotta give the dimunitive Ivan credit wen credit is due he has not taken the bait and has avoided nuclear war. Of course Russia is sending in ground troops on are soil but that is just to releave whitey wage earning proletariats of their homes and what is in them.
and Russia has one of the best manage economies on the planet and is not up to its hairline in shitty central bank debt that more than half of the world is sloshing around in...I'm no Putin Rock n Rolla but he is a nationalist and wants to preserve Russian values and interests. our President attempts to acomplish the opposite on a daily basis with impunity.
