Pope Francis Gets Involved In Geopolitics, "Endorses Use Of Force" Against ISIS Jihadists

Tyler Durden's picture

Pope Francis, who until now has had an aura of pacifism "above all else", if now and then bashing the occasional banker for creating record wealth disparity around the globe, just shattered his reputation of a man of peace at all costs, and moments ago endorsed the use of force in Iraq to stop Islamic militants from attacking religious minorities. He added that ays the international community — and not just one country — should decide how to intervene. He did not clarify just which superpower the last statement was a direct jab against.

From AP:

Francis also said he and his advisers are considering whether he might go to northern Iraq to show solidarity with persecuted Christians, but are holding off on a decision for now.

Something tells us his advisors will not greenlight such a trip.

And now we await the Islamic State's response, which having already extended the flag of Jihad against the US, will now instruct all "faithful" to endorse the use of suicide bombers against Catholics around the globe. Because escalations never happen on their own.

One thing is certain: it isn't over until the crusaders arrive.

Jesus said,

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.40 And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic,[a] let him have your cloak as well.41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,45 so
that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his
sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on
the unjust.
46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?47 And if you greet only your brothers,[b] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Hm, USA & CIA & Pentagon should Review their Proxy Wars, and Use of Proxy Agents. Maybe Special forces are going okay, but maybe they need to review their policies & Procedures too.

And guess what a US Force of 200,000 Military & US Mercenaries is... Too Expensive for a Nation with $17.6 Trillion in Federal Debt AND $59 Trillion in total Public Debt... While Wages are falling Tax Base is deteriorating or otherwise "Concentrating in fewer Workers".

Psalm 82
A psalm of Asaph.

1 God presides in the great assembly;
he renders judgment among the “gods”:

2 “How long will you defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked?
3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

So, you are saying we should stop defending the oil fields and gas pipelines for the wealthy oil companies, and start defending the women and children being shelled in Gaza and Eastern Russia?

Hey man, I never said that the oil company wars were a just cause. If we stopped defending them my Canadian oil stocks would probably quadruple overnight and I would no longer have to worry about getting around all those SUVs in rush hour because the soccer moms could no longer afford to drive them. That's a win/win in my book

If we really want to get at the root of the problem, then we should drone all the central banks of the world. All the 'wars' would then collapse outwardly from the middle

Helping the poor and needy is thematic throughout the whole bible. Next to having a right relationship with God, it is one of the top points.

The two Bigs that Jesus talked about were to love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

Psalm 82 is big and so is James 5

5 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.
2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.
3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.
4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.
5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.
6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

You could have written this about this day. 2000 years after the fact, human nature and human action has not changed.

People confuse the message of Jesus with being pacifist no matter the circumstance. This is incorrect. Christians are warriors for Christ in their hearts and as needed, in their deeds. Christians are to defend themselves when attacked, and even take up arms and kill the enemy if necessary. One example is when Jesus told his apostles to purchase swords right before his arrest. This is symbolic of there is a time for everything, including a time to fight.

Luke 22:36

""He (The Lord) said to them, 12 "But now one who has a money bag should take it, and likewise a sack, and one who does not have a sword should sell his cloak and buy one.""

The greatest battles in human history are when Christians banded together and defeated Muslim invaders, despite being outnumbered at Tours, France in 732AD, and at the two Sieges of Vienna in 1523 and again in 1683.

As someone raised a catholic,  this report repulses me.  I have often wondered why the Vatican as a teaching and moral authority (claimed) does not pronounce on the actions of the axis of evil of fukusRaHell and the swollen rivers of blood they have been the source of these many years. No condemnation for what is clearly a diabolical system and yet he can call for killing? As a Christian, I refer to the ten commandments, of which one is thou shalt not kill. That is a pretty comprehensive imperative. There are no get out clauses, no sub-paragraphs to water down the uncompromising command.

Hedgeless_Horsemans post above says it all for me and makes me wonder if in fact the many claims of the Vatican being off the reservation are true.

You've been brainwashed as to what being Catholic is.We are the first line of warriors, not pacificsts. The 6th commandment, mistranslated by the pacifists should read:

THOU SHALL NOT MURDER.

Huge difference. But you sure as shit can kill an enemy of GOD who is attacking you. You can declare just war, it's legal per the 10 commandments. Look at the Crusades, all Christian funded and directed. All legal. You've probably read only the New Testament. Read the Old as well. Same GOD. Stand and fight. If Catholics were not fighters, Europe would have been conquered by the Muslims a thousand years ago.

So here we have ISIS, a pack of murdering scum, beheading not just Muslims, but Christians as well, and we should ignore this? As much I'm against American involvment, the Pope is correct to call this an international problem that must be addressed by force.

I dunno - the guy basically says 'maybe we need to fight against ISIS' - and that's controversial here, is it?  Or is it just the "Christian" Zios letting their hate out for a walk as they, on the other hand, sort of hope this represents a step toward the End o' Days?

The Church has come out against a lot of things, but this is a singular event, calling out a specific entity.

Maybe his "war is okay as long as it is just and democratic" is a misspeak, but it seems really odd that just when the need arises for the US to enter back into combat that suddenly it is now morally justified.

I hear you, its an interesting point, but think you're reading in too much.

They are persecuting Xians, as they did in Syria - the Pope is a guy with some power suggesting the world ought to put a stop to it...

Is he not supposed to say that out of fear someone like you will think he's in cahoots with the neocon deep state?

Read the comments - we have Zionits, end of worlders, people who think its all Free masons or lizards or jesuits - every fucking theory in the world.

How about ISIS, notwithstanding the fact it is a creation of the Saudis and Americans in all likelihood, should be prevented, if possible, from killing at will across Iraq?

If that is controversial - then TPTB have truly mind fucked us, imho.

I hope - I mean this with respect, I like your stuff.  I do think it worth doing what we can to stop ISIS, but don't want to see a reoccupation - don't want to see it as a pretext... sure.

But ISIS? Paid mercs rather than true believers or not - fuck 'em.

I think it would have been more effective had he called out ISIS handlers by name and told Obama and Saudi King Whatshisname to yank the leash on their dogs of war. ISIS is running off a script, a script of pure evil designed to inflame, anger and provoke an emotional response. And it is working.

I personally find it inconceivable the leader of one the largest if not the largest church on the planet is unaware of the Machiavellian web around him.

PODS- I agree, if we are in danger, we should look to ourselves, since we created them. As Ive said on most of the articles that tend in this direction, the only americans who are in danger from these people are the Americans stationed all over the middle east. There is an easy solution to this- bring all our troops home from there. And, for good measure, they can swing by germany, Korea, Japan, etc, on their was home and pick them up too. Our foreign policy that was laid forth by the founders worked pretty well, and lasted until we needlessly involved ourselves in the genocide that europeans tend to inflict upon each other every couple generations.

probably won't be long. Religion is nothing more than a means of control. Look throughout history, armies of men lining up to slaughter each other, with priests praying for them and encouraging them to fight, kill, and die for their god and their king, when really all they were dying for was the ambitions of other men, nothing more. But, if you tell them to fight and die so your king can have more lands, or becuase he wants to be remembered as a great king, you would tell him to go fuck himself. But, get some shysters in there to tell you god is on your side, and get them to believe it, they will do anything you tell them too. Christians act like they are better than muslims, but they aren't, not really. But, people kep falling for it, and kep going to churches who spout non stop pro war propaganda and supposedly 'peaceful christians' buy the bullshit hook line and sinker. Same as it ever was

I'm a bad Catholic, by that I mean I dont follow all the rules and I cant blame people that hate the institution.  I think its the large scale centralized power which is evil.  Once saving the institution becomes more important than the originala intent, then it's evil (priest pedofile coverup).  Insert any large organization.  Imagine Ray Croc coming back "cool we sell little bits of fried chicken!  Wait, they're made of what?!"

That said, what I've read about Francis makes him sound like he's a step in the right direction.

Sorry, but I was just reading about the Reformation in England. 1500's. Bloody Mary catholic queen of England, burned Lutherans and reformers at the stake with approval from the Pope of Rome. In fact buring was the penalty for questioning the Catholic faith.

I knew this would not sit well with followers of the Roman faith.

Yes the 1500s - horrible stuff.

But very off topic and in context, seems like needless Catholic-bashing.

Really - the Pope says the UN should maybe stop a bunch of Salafist jihadis that executes children, and you're talking about the 1500s?

Try reading further, about what the Protestants did to Catholics in Ireland, Scotland, and elsewhere.

I'm not a follower of any religion - I just don't condemn a common sense opinion from this Pope because of shit that happened 4 or 5 hundred years ago.

seems like the Pope, Jews & Muslims have this in common. They don't like Birth Control since they need Armies in the Future or some kind of Power in Numbers for the Wealth to Sustain Growth and Empire Building.

Did I just cross a line there?

But yeah, Concerns of Empires & Kings:

- War Chests
- Controlling the People, Press, history, Info, Technology
- A massing more Wealth
- Greater Resources & Populations
- Locking ups Secrets in Archives & Libraries
- Suppressing Dissension
- Using Covert Ops to Subvert Enemies & their Leaders or Using War to change Borders (Immigration & Open Borders fits here somewhere)

Suppose the pope took his Swiss Guard and set up a new Embassy or Holy See on the Site of the Dam in Iraq.

- Pope can create Knights, has Knights already, Has Jesuits, has Latin America, has the Swiss...
- Pope apparently sees the value of Oil & Gas Industry in Iraq and the Levant
- Actions speak louder than words, his Occupation would spur Catholics to Join his Efforts
- The Ends Justifies the Means as the Jesuits say...

I'll wait until I see the actual quote. I have found that there tends to be some desrepency between what Pope Francis actually says and what the media tells us he said.

Edit: just as I thought:

"In these cases, where there is an unjust aggression, I can only say that it is licit to stop the unjust aggressor," Francis said. "I underscore the verb 'stop.' I'm not saying 'bomb' or 'make war,' just 'stop.' And the means that can be used to stop them must be evaluated."

"One nation alone cannot judge how you stop this, how you stop an unjust aggressor," he said, apparently referring to the United States. "After World War II, the idea of the United Nations came about: It's there that you must discuss 'Is there an unjust aggression? It seems so. How should we stop it?' Just this. Nothing more."

Has no one here ever heard of Just War Theory?

really theories - but...  very much a Jesuit thing.

And not controversial - incredibly strange to see some of the people who claimed over and over that Israel was "defending itself" against unguided rockets {fired after airstrikes} killing well over a thousand people...  but the suggestion that the US or UN stop a Salafist terror group that is, for sure, terrorizing religious minorities both Christian and Muslim - that's somehow wrong and deserving of scorn?

What a bunch of zionized idiot fucking shitbags - fascinating.  Just fascinating.  And for the record, I could not be more anti-organized religion, but this is a weird thing to pile on and for Zh to report so cuntily heh heh.

Jesus, what would the response be here if he had come out and said the opposite?

Dr. Engali;

It is possible that the Pope, Francis, is maneuvering to toward the UN with a plan already in mind.

Francis seems to represent good values to me, which also strengthens his Office or Status.

But what if his plan to avoid getting his hands dirty in any way that could later reflect on his office or station?

What would the UN be likely to: Decide, Do, or how would it be influenced by Power Players? US is a Power Player. The Vatican is a hidden Power Player at the UN. Funding mostly comes from the USA.

So, is there a Pope & USA Partnership??

in any case, keep an eye on this.

one of iceland's most dangerous volcanoes has been experiencing intense seismic activity the last couple days and is now at orange (highest is red) warning of possible imminent eruption.

depending on an eruption producing a huge ash cloud, this may be the convenient scapegoat to ban air travel and thus halt any potential spread of ebola outside the african continent.

"Volcanic eruptions are frequent in Iceland, though they seldom cause harm to human lives. The last volcanic eruption in Iceland was in 2011, when Grimsvotn, another subglacial volcano, spew a plume of ash 12 km (7 mi) into the air, leading to the cancellation of hundreds of flights internationally. A more notable eruption occured the year before, at Eyjafjallajokull volcano, causing a major disruption of European and transatlantic flights."

If Iceland is unable to contain itself, then I say it's time to consider sanctions.

The way this is going in a couple of decades we will see popes calling for a crusade, and thinking about the protection of christians in the first place.

Civilization works both ways. The west is on its historic collapse and nothing is going to replace it. Mesopotamia has seen many civilizations come and go, many different forms of government and ideologies, even different sects and religions come and go, has seen lights and darkness come and go for 10000 years. They must know much better than we do that conflict and mindless destruction is the normal path of human society.
