Following the death of another young black male in St.Louis, tonight has all the possibility of being another one of violence in Ferguson, Missouri. However, for now, there have been several arrests. In general police presence is notably less militarized, but in the last few minutes, tactical teams have started to rollout as protesters march chanting "hands up, don't shoot" or "justice for Mike Brown." Missouri Governor Jay Nixon commented, the Mike Brown shooting has "ripped open old wounds," and calls for "vigorous" prosecution.

Now, how do you react if a cop says that he is going to shoot you? You can either run, fight or plead for your life.
If he was running he wouldn't have been shot in the front. My perspective is British and I dont think our cops are as trigger happy, but if he was intimidating an armed police officer I'd expect the officer to warn him if he continued approaching/shuffling in his pockets/whatever he may be shot.
I'm completely undecided on whether the killing was justified or not, but I either way I dont see how looting improves the image of black people in america or gets any justice from the authorities.

(CNN could only find two that saw what happened in real time.) The eighteen "witnesses" stories do not make sense because Brown had a bullet in his head, laying on the pavement, dead, almost two blocks down the street from Wilson's Police Van! The position of the van and Brown's body is on Film, acquired by CNN.

I saw widespread support for the protests in Egypt, though they often turned violent. It all seems to depend on whether or not you think you have a stake in the continuation of society as it currently is. Those in poverty do not think they do, and that message is reinforced to them daily. That is reflected in their behavior, attitudes, and culture. And in the USA, poverty is very closely correlated to race; particularly to being black or Native American. On the other hand, most white people, though it is a declining proportion, do feel they have a stake in the continuation of the status quo. This also shows in behavior, attitudes and culture.
What's really interesting is the reaction of lower-middle-class white Americans as they are forced to recognize that their stake in the status quo was illusory and perhaps an accident of history from 1946 - 1980. That was the high-water mark for less-educated males in blue-collar professions, maybe anywhere in the world ever. They don't seem to respond positively to reversion to the mean, do they. And they grasp at any explanation that includes an external antagonist they can blame and react against.
Racial prejudice cuts through all strata in our society in interesting ways. It exposes feelings of superiority, insecurity, inferiority, envy, resentment; sometimes all at once. And the one trick that never loses its effect in America is to set those who fear becoming impoverished at the throats of those who are truly impoverished. That one never fails, particularly if the element of race can be introduced.

You make a classic mistake. The antics in Ferguson are not like Maidan. Maidan looked like a popular uprising against the state. Ferguson looks like a civil rights protest that ferments all day and erupts into riots overnight before settling back down to repeat the next day. In Ferguson they are attacking the people who are not responsible for these supposed police abuses. I say supposed because I'm not there and I don't know. They are attacking businesses in their community. Supposedly someone in the crowd shot another person, two seperate times.

(2)Pushing against the van Brown broke free and ran away down the street. (3)Wilson got out of van and began running and shooting toward Brown. (6)Wilson runs faster toward Brown, shoots faster (most of his shots are fired then) (7)shoots even as Brown falls, (8)shoots even after Brown was face down on pavement.
Wilson was shooting and running and filmed afterward talking at great length with arriving officer. All this with his eye socket damaged? He feared for his Life? Dude. Not True. They lie. He was completely unhurt filmed in real time by one of the eye witnesses. Your "witnesses" stories do not make sense because Brown had a bullet in his head, laying on the pavement, almost two blocks down the street from Wilson's Police Van!! The position of the van and Brown's body is on Film!!!!
