On June 13th, CNN reports President Obama stated:
No troops to Iraq, but other options are being considered.
That was President Barack Obama's message Friday in response to the lightning advance by Sunni militant fighters in Iraq that could threaten the government of Shiite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
In a statement delivered from the White House South Lawn, Obama said the United States "will not be sending U.S. troops back into combat in Iraq," but that he would be reviewing a range of other options in coming days.
The House overwhelmingly passed a resolution Friday that would bar President Barack Obama from sending forces to Iraq in a "sustained combat role" without congressional approval, a bill with greater symbolic than legal effect.

When this latest round of bombing began all social media in the country was blocked. (twitter, Facebook etc...)He recently was removed due to the situation. He was shocked to see that the media back home has portrayed this bombing campaign as fairly limited in scope, shown as a couple precision strikes against indivdual ISIS trucks, mortar pits... you get the picture. He told me that it was non-stop, all day every day bombs going off on the outskirts of baghdad in order to create a wall to prevent ISIS from advacing further south where the all important oil is. "Thousands of bombs at least" were his words. Lets not kid ourselves, the West will do everything in its power in order to keep the oil flowing including sending ground troops.
Well that's another argument in favor of the "ISIS has gone rouge" school of thought.
Of course hitting toyota land cruisers with billions of dollars of high tech weapons is very GDP and MIC friendly... anyone see actual people (preferably ISIS) around these pick-ups when they get hit yet?

What a lame attempt to try appear as though congress has a backbone. They have allowed the executive branch to wield this power for decades. The power to declare war is supposed to rest with congress, not the president. So, they are saying only they can approve boots on the ground, as if that has to happen for there to be what any rational person would consider 'war'. So, by their logic, airstrikes against various countries don't constitute waging war? How is dropping bombs on people in 6 or 7 countries not war? I'm pretty sure the people on the receiving end would say it counts. Until they say "no military force whatsoever can be used without congressional approval" this is completely meaningless.
My biggest worry is Obama waking up one morning, seeing Michael/Michelle/Wookie and hitting the red button out of despair.

I'm fairly certain most Americans would consider it an act of war if another country were to drop bombs on people within our borders. Likewise, if China or Russia funded the overthrow of our government — no matter how corrupt and incompetent it may be — most Americans would have a problem with that.
But when Uncle Sam does these things to other countries, most Americans are apparently comfortable with the absurd notion that we're exempt from the rules that typically govern interaction between nations, and that such actions no longer constitute acts of war but are instead acts of charity with a dash of unfortunate violence mixed in.

Doesn't matter. Old or new, they all exhibit the tell-tale searing white flash of light. A fission weapon requires a minimum amount of material to achieve criticality. So the smallest possible nuke is about .01KT or 10 tons TNT equivilent. There are conventional weapons bigger than that. The one in the vid sure as shit weren't no 10 tons of boom. A fusion weapon requires a fission weapon to set it off.
