Here We Go Again: Ukraine Claims It Destroyed Two Tanks That Entered From Russia
It's Monday; which means its time to ramp up the war rhetoric once again as another weekend goes by without 'escalation'. Ukraine's military spokesman Lysenko, or as he is better known as Lie-senko for those who actually ask for some evidence of anything that he claims, says, suggests or otherwise talks about, is reporting,via Bloomberg, that:
- UKRAINE SAYS TWO TANKS THAT ENTERED FROM RUSSIA WERE DESTROYED
- LYSENKO SAYS UKRAINE CAPTURED CREW MEMBERS OF DESTROYED TANKS
- UKRAINE SEIZED SOME VEHICLES THAT ENTERED FROM RUSSIA: LYSENKO
- LYSENKO SAYS COLUMN OF REBEL VEHICLES DESTROYED IN KRASNODON
- LYSENKO: UKRAINE INFLICTED SEVERE LOSSES ON REBELS IN KRASNODON
One wonders if the captured Russian crew had Langley, VA crew cuts? Unfortunately no one had their iPhone or camera-on-a-sticks to record the action as "proof." but we are sure that won't matter. Cure NATO's comments. Now, how will the market react to this 'proven invasion'? Actually scratch that: more escalation is simply a catalyst for even more pent-up de-escalation in the future...

Some recent history points: The USSR fell in 1991. A liberal, multi-party system was established. Despite his KGB past, Russian name and ethnicity, Putin is not a communist. Nor is nowadays Russia.

Eastern Ukes need to keep short lines because of limited manpower, so they push in a town and wait for the enevitable Nazi response. They then fall back and let the Ukonazis rush in and get careless in their 'victory' as the rebels surround them and mash them up.
And the Nazodummies fall for it over and over again. The rebels have got some real military leadership now and are acting with a unity and tactical skill that the Western Ukes can't match. They're also picking up a massive amount of captured and abandoned material.

The army of the Russian Federation must be seriously degraded at this point. The series of harsh defeats at the hands of the Kiev Junta Army is long and impressive. Like the large column of tanls and APC's which Kiev destroyed a week or so ago. Now another major defeat of Russian armored vehicles of Ukraine soil has further degraded Russian capabilites. The Generals in the Kremlin never learn their constant attempts to gain ground in battle are thwarted by the Ukraine Army. Another victory is now almost common place, hardly news.

There is a fairly easy, though not fool-proof, way to determine whether the 'tanks' MIGHT be Russian rather than Ukrainian - If they are newer than T64's there is a good possibility they are really Russian.
Russia retired T64s, and keeps them in a bone yard or sells them.
But T64's are the backbone of the Ukrainian force. They do have a small number of newer tanks. But it is hard to imagine them giving away the crown jewels of their armed forces for ineffective propaganda.
So... If it is a T72, T80 or T90, then it MIGHT be Russian.
If they are T64's or T62s then it is just more bullshit.
Here are the main clues as to tank models:
1) number of road wells supporting the track.
2) Does it have skirts (armor that protects the top part of the track)?
3) Is there an IR spotlight? And which side is it on?
4) Which side is the hatch on the turret on?
5) Which side is the driver's hatch (in front of the turret) on? (left, right, or center?)
Just look at the photos ( I haven't seen any and don't care to do the idenfitification). Note the details. And then go onto wikipedia and use the pictures to eliminate candidates. The one that is left is likely the model.
Oh.... and if there is no cannon on the top of the 'tank' that is long enough to extend past the body of the 'tank' ... then it isn't a tank. It is an armored personnel carrier, most likely either a BMP-1, BMP-2, or BMP-3.
Okay. That's enough on this subject. I am bored with Governments' military lies.
I think I'll go read their economic lies instead.
