Merkel Slams US Hegemony? "America Can't Solve All The World's Problems Anymore"

Tyler Durden's picture

First Russia and China, then UAE, Egypt, and Turkey... and now it appears Germany (following a phone call with Putin) is pulling the rug out from under US hegemony - just as Obama's warmongery ramps up...

  • *MERKEL SAYS U.S. CAN'T SOLVE ALL THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS ANYMORE

Which is odd because just yesterday, President Obama (who never lies) stated "The United States is and will remain the one indispensable nation in the world..." adding that "no other nation can do what we do." Perhaps he is wrong?

“Even a superpower can’t solve all of the problems alone anymore,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel says.

Merkel did not stop there...

  • *PUTIN, MERKEL URGE DE-ESCALATION IN UKRAINE, KREMLIN SAYS
  • *PUTIN, MERKEL DISCUSSED GAS TRANSIT VIA UKRAINE, KREMLIN SAYS
  • *PUTIN INFORMED MERKEL OF NEW EAST UKRAINE AID PLAN: KREMLIN
  • *MERKEL URGES HOLLANDE TO CONTINUE REFORMS IN FRANCE
  • *MERKEL SAYS HOLLANDE HAS CHANCE TO REVIVE FRENCH ECONOMIC POWER

Seems like she is returning to the offensive from the defensive...

I'm sure Obama will be telling Europe to hang tough because global warming will soon make winters feel like early fall.  Just like Al Gore told us in the US Southeast to expect 10X the number of hurricanes and 50X the intensity of storms like Katrina.  Hmmmmmmmmm, all I've heard in the last decade is hurricane crickets!

I believe it was an astute ZH poster who pointed out that Germany, after 100 years of blood, terror and calamity, has finally achieved its war aims of 1914:  the dismemberment of the Russian empire, a European customs union under German leadership, and the weakening-unto-farce of France and "Great" Britain.  If at all possible Angela and her heirs will avoid choosing sides between Russia and America, but will triangulate between them as delicately as possible.

Ultimately, though, a choice will be forced on Germany... by the declining USA via the Bush dictum: "with us or against us".  Personally, I think Germany's choice is still up for grabs....

•*MERKEL SAYS HOLLANDE HAS CHANCE TO REVIVE FRENCH ECONOMIC POWER

What possible imaginary metric is she using to come to that kind of conclusion? Hollande is a socialist and he has spent is entire life as an enemy to the free market and to any kind of sensible economic thought process. He should resign and check into a retirement home to be supported for the rest of his life by the harmful state policies he supports. He is a useless, corrupt and Ideologically bankrupt sack of waste and should never have entered the public sphere. The same can be said of most major world leaders today including Obama.

Re:  The same can be said of most major world leaders today including Obama.

If that's true (which I personally think it is) that means "leaders" MUST be "corrupt and Ideologically bankrupt sack of waste" in order to be picked to lead their respective societies.   Otherwise,  there would be variations in different societies resulting in something other than what you said being true.

The most effective leadership that resulted in the greatest Economic growth and periods of creation of wealth were the direct result of policies and conditions that prevented or suppressed stupid people from voting. Those who contribute the least in society should not wield the same political powers that those who create jobs, create wealth and foster a productive environment for a community to flourish have. When American elections became a popularity contest instead of an important choice resulting in prosperity or economic suicide, we were doomed from that point on.

Ok, fine.  What about the REST of world (as you noted).   It's the same result everywhere.   The smart-n-savvy people of each society run the show for themselves.

So, now what?

Wed, 08/27/2014 - 20:33 | 5151977 acetinker
acetinker's picture

Stupidity is the wrong criteria.  There's lots of fairly stupid people who contribute to society.  I should know.

Charity begins at home, no?

The real rub arises when the recipients of said charity are allowed to vote themselves more 'stuff', and the contributors are coerced to comply via the power of the state.

I forget the calamity, but when the nascent US congress pondered using the public purse to mitigate, member Davy Crockett said, "It's not yours to give".  He was exactly right.

How come there are signs at our national parks that read "Please don't feed the animals.  They will become dependent and lose their ability to fend for themselves", but inner cities are chock-full of actual humans (I'm being generous, here) who would perish absent their 'feeding'?

So, what are the criteria to be, then?

If you derive any part of your existence from .gov, you don't get a voice.  This would include politicians, soldiers, cops, teachers, .gov contractors and their employees and so on... but most importantly, it would include any organization- and all of its employees who were bailed out by the Fed.

That doesn't leave many out, does it?  Still, those are the ones expected to foot the bill.  They should be the ones with a voice.

Oh, and i forgot lawyers, or as they like to call themselves: Attorneys.  They operate (they call it a practice.  I don't want no mofo who is merely practicing to represent me, in any case) in the realm of codified law, which is not The Law, at all.

Any attorney is bound by the bar (the British Accreditation Registry) to support any outcome which would benefit the state.  How many members of Congress are attorneys?

You don't get a fkn voice, either.
