"A Man Of Many Perversions" – Federal Cybersecurity Head Convicted Of Child Porn Charges

Submitted by Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

The following story is a warning as to why centralized power is so dangerous. It doesn’t matter whether the power is political or corporate, overly centralized power in all forms must be resisted whenever it appears. The worst of all worlds is when centralized political and corporate power unite in an unholy alliance, which is what has happened to America in recent decades. When this occurs, the combined forces of oligarchy simply begin to rapaciously feast on the citizenry with zero accountability. This is a fair description of the United States in 2014.

The primary problem with centralized power is that sociopaths (for obvious reasons) gravitate toward, and greatly covet, positions of power. Once entrenched in such positions, they are able to act upon their perversions with general immunity, and if they are caught, are often left in positions of power by others who at that point “own them” via blackmail. This of course is nothing new, it is how the game of power, politics and economics has been played since the beginning of time. It is also why decentralization of power is the natural evolution we as a species must embrace in order to build a better world.

Enter Timothy DeFoggi, the one-time cybersecurity director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, who received several awards for his government “service” over the years. The self-proclaimed man of “many perversions,” frequented a child porn site called PedoBook where he “exchanged private messages with other members expressing interest in raping, beating and murdering infants and toddlers.”

More from Wired:

As the acting cybersecurity chief of a federal agency, Timothy DeFoggi should have been well versed in the digital footprints users leave behind online when they visit web sites and download images.

But DeFoggi—convicted today in Nebraska on three child porn charges including conspiracy to solicit and distribute child porn—must have believed his use of the Tor anonymizing network shielded him from federal investigators.

But DeFoggi’s conviction is perhaps more surprising than others owing to the fact that he worked at one time as the acting cybersecurity director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. DeFoggi worked for the department from 2008 until January this year. A department official told Business Insider that DeFoggi worked in the office of the assistant secretary for administration as lead IT specialist but a government budget document for the department from this year(.pdf) identifies a Tim DeFoggi as head of OS IT security operations, reporting to the department’s chief information security officer.

Although anyone could use the sites, registered users like DeFoggi—who was known online under the user names “fuckchrist” and “PTasseater”—could set up profile pages with an avatar, often child porn images, and personal information and upload files. The site archived more than 100 videos and more than 17,000 child porn and child erotica images, many of them depicting infants and toddlers being sexually abused by adults.

DeFoggi became part of that sting after becoming a registered member of PedoBook in March 2012 where he remained active until December that year when the FBI shuttered it. During this time DeFoggi, who described himself as “having many perversions,” solicited child porn images from other members, viewed images and exchanged private messages with other members expressing interest in raping, beating and murdering infants and toddlers.

DeFoggi received many commendations during his government career, according to an exhibit list created by the government for his trial. The list includes several certificates of award from the U.S. Treasury, a certificate of appreciation from the State Department for his work on a Hurricane Katrina task force, several documents related to computer courses he attended and certifications he received.

For the children or to the children?

Yes, centralized power is dangerous.  And do you know the 13 ways centralization has occurred and what to do to stop it?  The answers are in this book. "Localism, A Philosophy of Government" ... http://www.amazon.com/Localism-Philosophy-Government-Mark-Moore/dp/06922...

The key tenet of Localism is the decentralization of power.  In the end, it is either going to be globalism, or localism.  If for no other reason than other philosophies of government have no defense against globalism.

Today is the Feast Day of Augustine of Hippo. He coined the phrase "Libido Dominandi" or the LUST for power. Apparently it goes hand in hand with other lusts.

The important part of this is that TOR is NOT secure.

That's why THOR will hit the market shortly. Then BOR and in 2020, SNORE.... Trust me, nobody will give a shit by then. They'll all be in the ORGASMATRON!

I believe that sociopaths, megalomaniacs and narcissists all covet power. I also believe as the old saying goes that power in and of itself is corrupting. This makes an excellent argument for term limits as well as limited power. I am not sure you can limit the power of government without limiting terms.

Look at the late Senator Arlen Specter and current candidate Charlie Crist. These sick people will do anything to hang onto power. To their last dieing days they hold on. How many have held onto seats well into senility like WV Senator Byrd who has half the state named after him? It is an aphrodesiac and drug they are hooked on and I truly believe they will sell their souls to get and keep it.

fxrxexexdxoxmx's picture

Of course they covet power. Only by being in a position of power are they able to achieve their sexual desire. Just as rape is about control, pedophiles seek the same. There are more deviates in position of responisbility than not.

Hmmm. I have never considered this thought but it has the ring of some truth. I wish Freud was here to comment and elaborate. There is a definite connection between power and sex, for sure.

Welcome to your federal government. They are here to help. It only goes down hill from here as you go up the ladder. How many big shots do you think were involved in the Son of Sam murders? You'll never here about that. Or Charles Manson and his gang partying with all those Hollywood people and the Satanic ritual killings were pinned on them when there were many others (Big names) in on it as well.

and they can never find anyone who posts onto it, only people who download from it.  Except, maybe in ten years time they'll find the guy who produced it and kill him and dump his body at sea in the middle of the night when no-one is watching, and then the world will be a safer place but we'll have to re-double our efforts to wipe the pedoscourge from the face of humanity and oh, won't anyone please think of the children?  We need a bear patrol.

... and people think that demonic possession is a myth.

Then again, why should we naively believe the press? I am still in China this week and it seems to be common practice for politicians who gain too much power and become a threat or who fall out of favor with the boss to be accused of corruption (something of a national passtime).

For all we know DeFoggi might have been the only clean sheet in the linen closet and was singled out because he would not play along to get along.

By the way, if Google can find and censor individual videos on Youtube, then the government could easily shut down every single child porn site in and entering the US. It is a testimony to the fact that the government does not want to shut down the sites that supports evidence that the government wants a plausable way to entrap people or manipulate public and legal perception.

I did not hear DeFoggi make the statement or know the context under which it was made... so, no slight to Mike, and while it would be good to see a real bad guy get his comeuppance ... I just do not know.

I recall the now famously false babies taken from incubators and thrown on the floor accusation that got us all enraged with Sadaam and Iraq prior to Gulf War 1.

BULLSHIT!  This is a story of one man who just happenned to work for the government.  In typical ZH hysterical exageration style you guys are trying to find a bigger moral here.  There isn't one here.  It's just a sad story of one stupid horny pervert.

jballz's picture

Um yeah because all the other government officials I see are clearly not psychopathic power junkies.

Just a one-off.

(whilst most probably are not actual baby rapers, fair enough. It's still a valid point)

smacker's picture

ZH simply reminds us that there are very few people in positions of power and control who are the best person for the job under rules of meritocracy. They are there because shadowy figures put them there because they have dirt on them aka "control files". This allows the shadowy figures to pull the strings of power from behind the curtains.

This applies to government, public sector and corporates. In fact any organisation, big and small. And it's been the case for centuries.

There is no better example in recent times of just such a person than Barack Obama. He does exactly what he's told by his handlers because people in the shadows have shed loads of dirt on him which would destroy him if drip-fed into the public domain. He knows this, so he follows orders.

Lord Brown, famous ex-CEO of BP, was kept in place because he supported and followed British govt oil policy around the world because Govt spooks knew that he was gay and lived with another man. When Brown had served his usefulness, his personal secret was leaked into the public domain. He quickly resigned.

Whenever we see a new person appointed to a high position in politics/corporate sector, we should always ask ourselves what skeletons s/he has locked away in the cupboard which the shadowy figures know about and will use to keep that person under control.

Does someone have video of UK PM David Cameron snorting coke at a party? I dunno.

Raoul_Luke's picture

You have to be able to think in layers here to understand this so perhaps I am wasting my time, but the issue this story speaks to is the motivations of many who seek positions of power over others.  They often aren't good.

It's the same principle at work wether it's this stinking pedophile working in federal cyber security, the tax collector using his authority to dig into his enemy's tax reporting, the building inspector who takes a bribe to look the other way when shoddy material goes into the new school building, the regulator who overlooks fraudulent behavior in exchange for a high paying job, or the cop who pulls over the young girl and "lets her off" in exchange for a blow job.  Government authority at all levels is repleat with such examples.  It is a compelling argument for pursuing a smaller, more decentralized government structure, with restrictions on its ability to control our lives.  Capice?

jballz's picture

This article made me throw up a little. Beyond the disgusting part though, I'm astonished there are people so fucking stupid they would register with a site called Pedobook.

Grateful, makes it fairly easy I suppose for even inept law enforcement, but astonished all the same.

Also all you Zerohedgers suddenly feel far less dirty and assholish, even if being here still gets me sent to the extra uncomfortable fema camp.

Good riddence to fuckchrist anyway, hope he makes lots of friends in prison.

IIRC, I think one of our Security Consultants at a Naval Air Base may have been a Pr0n Actor.  He looked familiar from the HBO Documentaries and a few Cable Shows; and kept on looking at my crotch when I signed up for my facility access card.

From what I understand, they hire gays/bisexuals for some of these shows so they will last longer.  If the guy wants to moonlight as a Pr0n actor or a Gigolo, there should be a disclosure mandate for "sensitive" positions - especially Govt Related ones.

Can't afford to have someone in "Security" - controllling access to classified material - be a stooge for some Pr0n Producers.  Too many drugs/sex-slave trafficking and blackmailing potential going on there.

Funny thing that, all of a sudden, I had people hacking my home PC from the Naval Air Base Computers, montitoring my every move.  Then I started to mess with them by visiting all kinds of Pr0n and Call Girl Sites to hear them gossip and confirm my suspiscions the next day.  Of course, my personall curiosities were addressed; but some people tried to use them as a means of smearing my social life whereever I walked.

I'm no Angel; but I'm far more upright than the regular Church / Temple goer.  Ever heard of some Assholes try to fondle themselves in front of you, or tell you that "you'll go back to the Porn industry" (I never was an actor, nor was I a Gigolo - I'm flattered that women want to think of me that way, though ^_^) at a Jewish High Holy Day Services?

They even allegedly tried to set me up on a "Sex Sting" while getting women to stand by the Mens Room, and took photographs of me while I was in the john.

Your Taxpaying Dollars at work at Naval Air Station North Island.  While I've been trying to fix problems that put our Maintenance Workers, Aircraft Operators, Pilots and Passengers at risk.

The Foul Play still continues - Contractors, Scum, still follow me around to start something - ^_^

There were a couple of Taliban machine gunners that would have bet their lives that nothing could ever reach them at 2,708 yards. Unfortunately, some crazy limey sergeant with an Arctic Warfare Super Mag was only 2,707 yards away from them in the Afghani mountains one day in 2009. They lost the bet. No idea if the machine gunners were pedophiles, but they had beards and talked funny. Is that the same thing?

The govt needs to make an example of this social reject. Find out who initially interviewed the guy, find out who approved him holding a high level position, and find out who he reported to. Fire every last one of the cocksuckers responsible for letting him earn a paycheck, post their names in the paper. Then dunk the infant raper in gasoline then set him on fire.
