The Chart Obama Does Not Want Merkel To See
The weekend's headlines reeled from the collapse in global manufacturing PMIs and with them the last best hope for the world's economies to reach escape velocity all on their own. However, there was one nation that did not plunge... there was one country whose growth (based on the soft survey data) is at 10-month highs. Perhaps this is the chart that President 'we need moar sanctions and costs' Obama does not want Angela 'umm, wait a minute' Merkel to see...
Since sanctions began the plunge in Euro-Area PMIs has been commensurate with the rise in Russia's (oh and according to survey-data, US is as good as it has ever been)...
* * *
Seems pretty clear who is paying the price and suffering the costs of Western sanctions...
When does Europe draw its own red line around Obama's sanctions?

how can crude be worth 1.30 less this morning? lol
Good. Europeans are number one slaves and they deserve it. In fact, as an encore they should send all their young men to the Russian front!
Europe learned a lot from WWII. The tip is:
"Let Russians clear the way first".
Know what I mean?
Checkmate to the NWO!
Hardly Checkmate... The numbers have to be factual before it makes a difference...
This assumes Obama himself knows how to interpret a chart. He's pretty dumb....
Who makes electric blankets in Europe? Buy buy buy!
since coal causes global warming (/s), and natural gas from Russia will be cut off... it seems unlikely that solar power in Eastern Europe will power all those blankets...
As Telly Savalas used to say:
"Who loves ya baby?"
Battery powered electric blankets
fixed it
French sex should keep EU warm for about an hour ----after that send in Nuland to hand out candles, Poroshenko chocolate chip cookies and do what she knows best ! DUMP NULAND !
Sleep in a Tesla.
It won't hold a good charge in the Winter for a 300KM Run (e.g., NYC to Boston); but when it catches fire, it sure can burn up a blaze to keep the neighborhood warm.
The only downside is that you'll need to be awake and get out BEFORE the Car catches fire...
Like Obama really cares he is just reading what they tell him to
NWO = Must keep USD as GRC.

Chupa, :-)
Yup, family, kids and friends is what helps us stay grounded and sane, in what is often a mad, mad world.
Absolutely. Spot on Kirk.
Either we hang together against these Pure Evil Psycopathic Lucerferian Megalomanics. Or we hang separately.
I prefer to Hang them one by one on a World Grand Stage for all the World to see & make them an example of.
Great song; great movie. Thanks.
you mean let them nuke america and then the europeans can begin picking sides?
no. that's not going to happen. you are forgetting how things are structured. if russia attacks american troops in poland or east----in germany itself, germany will be pulled into the war against russia. they will have no choice but to be part of it. lest the u.s. nuke the shit out of germany for not cooperating as part of a scorched earth policy.
Hummmm...
Wouldn't the EU do better if the Euro dropped about 15%-20%?
Why do they keep it so artificially high?
Are they planning to do a swan dive into the abyss?
Has anybody seen my car keys?
What did Billary know and when did it know it?
Have you seen Jennifer Lawrence naked and afraid?
"Wouldn't the EU do better if the Euro dropped about 15%-20%?"
More exports for sure, but in the end only a few at the top would really benefit while the commoner's purchasing power decreases. That's socialism for you.
excellent question. vs the Dollar, the Yen or the Yuan? which leads to the question: how long until those three print... moar? please disregard the fact that the ECB's balance sheet is shrinking
The euro is being managed for long term survival....unlike some other major reserve status currencies.
The euro is being managed for ...Germany's.... long term survival
FIFY
It is still just paper promises. It will be raped. It will be pillaged. It will have it's throat slit and left to die in a ditch. It always happens.
Euro going to parity as "big" money parks cash in the US dollar, (just a fact) as that is perceived to be safer (for now), that is likely to go on for 6-12 months more at least.
US Equities will rise in lockstep, "the" crash will come, but not yet.
'fuck the EU'
I'm amazed at all the up arrows you got. They are either the short timers posting here, or have yet to really break free of their social conditioning.
Your statement is just silly. To say that someone deserves being a slave, is to side with oppressors everywhere. The thinking is the same. Thank you for exposing yourself, that is one less comment I know not to read in the future.
When you expect the state to take care of you cradle to grave, yeah, you volunteered yourself for slavery.
Don't you think that educated people who have sold themselves out for paper promises and government "protection" from things like hi power vacuums deserve what they get? They have willingly walked into the gas chambers of their lives.
That is no way means any of us side with the masters. Screw 'em both imho.
If they opt to go Mad Max scenario, for some reason I favor those Polacks, Baltic sheep, and Nordic sheep (the Ramussen's fellows...land of nobel) to march to the front line to have early tastes of the Bear's claws :-) lol
The biggest promoters of war with Russia are the Baltic states and Poland. They want revenge for Soviet oppression. They preach a quick war, an easy win over the Russian bear; they are deluded. The Greeks, the Serbs, the Hugarians, even the ordinary Germans (though not Angela Merkel) see things differently.
We will see if NATO admits Ukraine as a member at their next meeting. That is a red line for Russia and will initiate war.
war and winter coming but this morning the world does not need oil or natgas but wearable cameras for cops - DGLY (given away to ferguson)
Cameras for cops are a good thing, but cops are good at causing the cameras to "malfunction."
I know it makes no friggin since none of it does I am so confused it is like we are on a planet that normal laws do not apply
No gold standard = moveable goal posts.
Yes. Often forgotten. moveable goal posts, and a rubber-stretching yard markers; special-ball; everybody gets a prize; for awhile.
they are hard at work manipulating anything they can to make sure money goes into the stock market. everything but stocks were hammered
Yup. AU/AG below production costs, why not oil. Esp since it pays Vlad's bills.
they are hard at work manipulating anything they can to make sure money goes into the stock market. everything but stocks were hammered
Look at a chart.Fundamentals
are for chumps.
Wouldn't surprise me if Putin, all along, knew that one of the consequences of western "sanctions" would be to bring manufacturing/production back to Russia. Looks like this is a trend, should continue as long as sanctions do and thereafter.
How can paper be worth more than its utility value?
Good to see. Merkle holding Germany down as America rapes it.
What is mind blowing is when you see how that witch is popular in Germany. Germans love their bitch.
You know best........only polls like her not real people
excellente
I don't know a single person who likes her. That includes people from the East.
No one believes anything anymore. What do you believe?
Good to see. Merkle holding Germany down as America rapes it.
"."
I suspect USSA have Germans by short and curlys.
You want your gold (yeah right), then do as we say bitches!
Last night I realized that all this NSA spying on political and business leaders has a dual purpose: Aside from the obvious purpose of Info Mining (for dirt and competitive advantage), the less obvious but perhaps more crucial bits of info is for... PREDICTIVE MODELING.
Psy Ops can construct a pretty good model for any person, based on available records. Surfing and Shopping habits tell marketers a lot about us, and we've noticed how ads are customized to us, and Netflix makes suggestions by comparing our patterns and Likes to many others.
In Merkel's case, and the case for all world leaders or key players, it is crucial for them to "get inside their head" by tapping their lines. Doing this allows for a much more robust Model, which allows TPTB to manipulate and steer Merkel. Angie needs to read/re-rad The Art of War. Especially the part of being too predictable.
Even I can tell certain things about her Psychological Profile by having dones some research: She is (a) the Grey Mouse that steadily climbs the stairs, (b) she is a Consensus Builder, a Team Player. That's fine in most cases, but not in the case of resisting TPTB/NWO. Her strength has become her weakness: She can't say "NEIN!" to them and accept the consequences. She needs to be more devious about it, if she's to steer Germany and Europe through the dangerous NWO/NATO waters. If there ever was a time to be the proverbial "ball-buster", then this is the time to put the war hawks in their place.
Else it will be Germany and the EU that will be sacrificed for NY, DC, London and Tel Aviv -- not the villains and sponsors who live there.
Kirk, without going in the merit of your intriguing theory, please note that Merkel is not the dictator of her party, neither at a national level nor at the federal states level, nor at the level of the parliamentary fraction that - together with another party in coalition - supports her as Chancellor of Germany, and could drop her on a whim. She is appointed, not elected to that post. Her Consensus building fame stems from the political factions she juggles... in Germany
having said that, if you exchange "Merkel" with "the political leadership of Germany"... what was that thing about groups of people being more predictable than individuals? plenty of buttons to push, for the skilled manipulators, at least in theory. Yet... what about German media, both private and public/state? And... the German Public Opinion?
The German Prez was bashing a bit too much Russia, lately, and the whole political class whistled him back in public, full blast. A typical German political statement which Germans read in their peculiar way
Herr Hitler was also Chancellor, serving at the whim of the Bundestag.
How did he take charge? Hint: Reichstag Fire.
Well said. The CDU/CSU lost the last election - there's no reason that Merkel should be chancellor. FDP was wiped out. SPD, Linke, and Greens are the majority; only the fact that SPD won't ally with Linke keeps Merkel in power.
Anyone who believes one word this corrupt, muslim, ni66er utters, deserves what they get.
Germany should switch sides. I really think it would be better for them.
German should stand for their own interests. If they'd do that they'd stop listening to the fascist neocon warmongers of WDC. No European will gain from a war in Europe. This is a complete madness pushed forward by the NWO banksters.
I'd pay real cash money to see SOMEBODY in Europe stand up for their own interests. Still waiting.
Nigel Farage is one of those rare cases. The last European elections brought "some" hope of change. But I definately agree with you that there are too few of them and I fear that they come too late to avoid the current Ukrainian mess.
They're all tough guys until they're in a position to ACTUALLY do something, then they fold and tow the corproate line every time.
Or they are JFK-ed, Zia-ul-Haq-d, Gandhi-ed, Gaddafi-ed or Aldo Moro-ed.
If war can be avioded till the next elections, UKIP will grow probably be the majority in the UK, and a major Force in Europe.
Sadly (for us) it's not madness as far as "they" are concerned, just a managed shift from West to East, about one generation to accomplish. the 20 to 50 year olds (my kids included) will pay a heavy price, unforunately it's their turn.
Get them out if you can, to stay and fight is madness.
And spare me the bullshit about prepping and/or unpatriotic.
Oh do tell oh wise one, where on earth do you think you can go and hide from the big bad people?
PS - They have nukes, duck.
PSS - Stand an fight. Die, free, on your feet. That is enough for any life.
Wouldn't that make them Italy?
Only when they get back their defence force. How many more years for current pacifists and freeriders in security questions?
Agreed, but imagine for a moment that Germany did start to build their own defenses in earnest. Army, Navy, etc. Could you imagine how that would play in the media?
Lots of jokes.
Germany does not need to "switch sides". They just need to "Grow the fuck up", and steer their own course. What's best for Germany or the EU isn't always the best for the UK or the US. And, as time passes in this Game of Geopolitics, this is becoming ever more evident.
As it is, they are still the lapdog of the US and UK, always seeking their approval, rewards and table scraps. "Mach Hündchen!", Angie. Most Favorite Pet perhaps, but a Pet nonetheless. Abiding by Policy, not making it.
Guten Tag .....
Scheisse!
"Ich bin ein Dummkopf."
So yea, can I get of donut over here or what?
Germans won't play this game much longer. They are already looking East - and why shouldn't they? The West is a basket case of hypocrisy and economic suicide.
Nukes are a good reason why not.
I'd like to see evidence that Germany is looking East. However, most of what I read says that Merkel is the good little bitch of the NWO Banksters.
Well look at where VW, Mercedes, Siemens have invested......look at where manufacturing has shifted.
The German political leadership doesn't look after the interest of the German industrials... The new cold war against Russia will provide no benefit the the German economy.
Alabama?
If the black nobility of Europe fears the Chinese, they will gladly give them N & S America.
I wouldn't waste my time worrying about Europe.
They may yet decide to snuggle in front of the gas log fireplace when the weather turns cold.
I am suprised Germany and Russia are such good friends...for what they did to each other in WWII...those memories last a long time..
I am suprised Germany and Russia are not good friends condsidering the crimes the Rothchilds (City of London) did to both of them, those memories cant be pasted over with propoganda forever.
You got that one right. Merkel is a lapdog of the Rothchilds. She will do what she is told to do.
Hitler and Lenin were allies. For a little while...
Hitler was in prison in Landsberg in 1923 and Lenin was dying poisoned by Stalin. He died 21 Jan 1924. Hitler did not become Reichskanzler until 1933.
Maybe you confused Hitler with Benjamin Franklin ?
John Adams I thought. One of those terrists anyways.
"Hitler and Lenin were allies. For a little while..."
Nearly dropped my coffee.
Given that Lenin died in 1924, that would have been Stalin. You must mean the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact, which can hardly be called an alliance, but that the Soviets needed to get ready for the inevitable German onslaught.
> "Maybe you confused Hitler with Benjamin Franklin ?" says Sandmann.
Or with Jim Morrison?
Not such a surprise. The U-S and Germany did the same things to each other in WWII, and WWI, as Russian and Germany have done. The U-S and Japan did the same to each other. Examples would stretch back thousands of years. Russia is more aligned politically and geographically with Europe than is the U-S. Both are more aligned with China than the U-S. No surprises here.
All numbers coming from .gov are manipulated bullshit to begin with. Who knows what the truth is.
Somewhere deep inside the government there is a set of books and the people that take care of those books freaked out a long time ago and are amazed at how things have went.
NATO is starting to get outmoded. The US and Europe don't have the same common interests they once did. Obama should take the pivot to Asia a little more seriously and make it clear that Europe is guiding NATO. The US will play only a supporting role. Is Ukraine really a bigger US or German / Poland interest? If Germany doesn't want to stand up to the Russians, why should the US care?
The U.S. and China will broker trade deals between Russia and Europe.
the polish are the only giants that can stop russia now.

Polish girls are sooooooooooooooo hot! Once the Russians invade they won't go back to Minsk. Which is just a stone's throw from Pinsk.
They were in Poland 1944-1990 already
Polish Girls are hot +1000
Does the Polish army still rely on CAVALRY??????
I donno, when I lived in Chicago the Poles weren't known as being the sharpest tools in the DNA tool shed.
Grab your pitchfork and have at it studly. What a joke.
There are no golf clubs in Poland.
Barry liked the gym.
Because Biden Junior needs to make a shedload of money from fracking in East Ukraine.
Little Hunter will make it big fracking over there while Daddy is condemning fracking over here as being environmentally unfriendly.
NATO is a shopping trolley for US defence contractors selling their wares
as a Grand Bazaar, it used to be a tad more... balanced. but hey, lots of things used to be less extreme, not long ago
The Russians are coming. Natasha I'm waiting.
I hope You are ready for Ivan , too.
We're number1! We're number 1! USA! USA!
Can I stop now?
When Europe has it own military force and becomes sovereign.
So not so soon.
100% true. They need a more centralized government to match the efficiency of the US military-state too. Brussels is still generations away from achieving the efficiencies of DC.
US PMIs - I call bullshit!!!!
You mean our "manufacturing" increased? Really, what, cooking grills for Shitpotle' stores?
"zerohedge @zerohedge 3m
ISM New Orders at a seasonally adjusted 66.7 is the highest since April 2004"
Is there any data that they don't seasonally fudge, er, adjust?
No, but you can go to source data.
Gas(petrol) consumption is down 17% yoy.
Must be the thriving econony.
Is thos chart for realz?..
Cuz we know how strong american mfgturing is..
Sheesh.
A 10% increase in nothing, is still a 10% increase in Obozoland.
It's all military manufacturing more humvees for the armed forces of your local police. the rest of manufacturing in america is just noise.
Looks like Barry is Merkel's Daddy.

Love how the Guardian now sucks the cock of warmongering.... cowards.
Europe would have gained a whole lot more by engaging with Russia as a friendly rather than sacrificing its present and future just to suck the USA's geopolitical cock. A US whose credibility has been totally and utterly destroyed by its actions over the past 50 years. All know the US is a dishonest duplicitious murderous warmonger for the benefit of a handfull of corporate oligarchs.
"seasonally adjusted", "to season meat", so view those numbers with a grain of salt ?
Germany will never ever ever get its gold back.....never. They know it....the best they can hope for is to be paid out.
Yes, get paid out in dollars and immediately buy paper gold for it !
:-)
most people here do not realize how much "Power" Russia really has, the largest land mass, a population of 140 million, for the most part very patriotic, (spare me the links about the varios hot spots of dissent here and there). Unlimited natural resources, nukes with better delivery systems then even the US, unlimited markets reacheable via land travel, a better space program then anyone else, a military which is as good or better then anyone else, at a fraction of what the US spends and a invardly focused leader which is as close to a "benevolent dictator" (the best and most efficient form of government) as you can get.
Compare that with the US and it's allies (the 5 eyes) all insignificant little islands with puny population.
The bought and paid for EU spineless leaders which suck US dick on demand, will eventually be replaced one by one, meanwhile ordinary people will die as the US monster is dismantled piece by piece, the US sheeple will suffer greatly in the next 20-30 years.
WAke the fuck up and get your family out of there now before currency controls harden even more.
I will post a link by Tanzer as soon as I find it.
I already bailed my family out of the USSA.
Asia is OK.
"...it's allies (the 5 eyes) all insignificant little islands with puny population."
Excuse me. You have no idea what the population is of the United Kingdom. As a matter of fact, nor does the British government (!)
/s bigtime
All working out as planned. Good job PTB.
I would bet that Europeans are manufacturing more than hamburgers, fries and pizzas.
An American, not US subject.
Note: As one drives around count the number of pizza joints, especially new ones.
Remember Europe, "you're either with us or against us" \sarc
That's a tough choise.
Do you have oil, gas, gold or at least superpower ?
If not, let me think.
the fog of impending war in EU and the fog of FED's cheap money in USA.
Indispensable extraordinary.
lenghty post . I apologize in advance
Whose life and money is it, anyway?
Tightening the Noose:
While there is no one specific law restricting the free movement of currency across U.S. borders, have no doubt that today America has "de facto" currency controls. Today, USA's de facto currency controls take great measures to restrict Americans from conducting legitimate business across borders.
In America, currency controls began in earnest with the 1970 Bank Secrecy Act. Then came the Patriots Act and other federal banking laws that created stringent bank reporting requirements against customer activities ( SARs). It may shock you to know the number of times per year that your local bank reports their customers to the IRS.
On average, every single banking day, more than 72,000 suspicious activity reports and currency transactions reports are filed by money service businesses in America against Americans....72,000 each and every day. What's worse, a bank employee is prohibited from disclosing to the customer that a report was filed with the IRS.Violations of the non-disclosure reporting requirement may lead to civil and criminal penalties, including fines as great as $250,000, and five years imprisonment.
The result of U.S. capital controls is really no different than China's limitation on capital outflow. Or when Brazil imposed a tax on international capital flows. Chile used a similar tactic. And South Korea's levy on foreign-currency debt held by banks. Indonesia, Thailand and other developing nations markets have recently used capital controls that terribly hurt their local economies.
And currency controls occurred in the 1930s in Nazi Germany, in 2003 in South Africa , they exist today in China, and in thirteen othercountries around the world. These measures are used to confiscate and control the personal wealth of hard-working individuals.
Thanks to the U.S. Congress, in 2010 it passed one of the most exhaustive forms of capital controls the U.S. has ever seen under FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act). These blatant capital controls fully implemented in 2014 now restrict capital outside U.S. borders, and will also eventually be the government's key to enforcing a wealth tax at home.
FATCA imposes on foreign nations around the world harsh burdens and controls directly upon them to verify data and withhold tax on U.S. clients. The cost to foreign banks is horrendous as they need to hire a small army to comply with FATCA.
As a result, FATCA has made it significantly harder for Americans to invest abroad — whether in foreign land, home, new business, or a simple bank account - as the U.S. government imposes its own form of capital controls. With limited exceptions, foreign banks simply do not want U.S. customers any more.
Another recent layer of financial control at home arises by the U.S. S.E.C. (Security and Exchange Commission) imposing new regulations on money market accounts. The three new rules encourage and regulate your money market funds based on liquidity levels. Now money market fund managers can impose a fee or freeze assets during times of financial stress. Controls have now filtered down to the institutional level.
America continues down the path of more currency and border controls.
Many individuals are still in denial, while others as aghast. It's only the smart individuals that are taking action to protect themselves and their family while there is still time. It gets crowded when everyone rushes to the exit at the same time.
If your money was "your money ", then you should be able to freely move and spend it as you want. What this means to me is that these controls do not make your money as much yours as you think.
If these capital controls are not designed to set up a system for massive wealth taxes, then what else? The IMF (International Monetary Fund) has been pressing all nations to implement capital controls for massive wealth confiscation as the only method to bring down national debts.
Today, your money is only a signed Executive Order away from absolute prohibition against transferring money outside the US, or mandating the repatriation of all offshore assets. Like lemmings, Americans sit idly by as the U.S. takes them over the cliff.
@ Anarchy 99, thanks a lot for the not really lengthy posting :-) it's a good post, i guess it's an article by Tanzer as you mentioned.
Just about fortnight ago we're exposed to the early taste of the FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) in our local banks as they now have additional form asking whether any depositor is a USA subject or not :-)
a friend of mine complained about this extra form, she's alien to ZH, i just smiled, too lengthy to explain...later I'll just pass on this FATCA thing :-) so thanks for having it handy here in ZH,,, gracias!!
thanks, a few trols on ZH but by far the smartest most informed blog commenters, yes even the ones I disagree with.
Good post; however, I don't think Americans are really sitting idly by as much as it might appear. Frankly, most Americans don't have a pot to piss in so they simply don't care. They are trying their best just to feed their family and their car.
sadly you are correct, and likely to get worse before it gets better.
Yes there is that... Plus it's also just about NFL season.
Own land in Costa Rica.... FATCA is a nightmare!!
Have to work the legal system to set up bank account under corporate entity to skirt around FATCA. Banks down there openly don't want US customers. There are also escrow companies to use, but the fees involved can get prohibitive for day-to-day banking purposes.
The door is definitely open for a wealth tax / asset grab by the US government. Strongly suggest working with lawyers to make sure interests are as insulated (hidden) as humanly possible.
FACTA is making it particularly
hard on EU citizens who happen
to have dual US citizenship.
Many EU banks are closing all US
related accounts rather than deal
with FACTA reporting/accounting to US.
This is is forcing dual EU/US citizens
to choose between renouncing their
US citizenship, or the virtually impossible
situation of living without banking.
Merkel was an East German prodgity that speaks Russian. Wonder who she's likely to favor? An good old Soviet comrad or a punk kid from Kenya?
Who has been buying all those Eurobonds? This is obviously an inside job being conducted by the fed in collusion with the ECB. The Eurozone doesn't get record low bond yields without a price--the price is remaining 'loyal' to Western foreign policy, despite myriad negative implications it may have on the European economies and its people.
Germany, as I see it, is just biding its time while the East continues to ready itself for financial independence; it's still playing both sides. I think it is just waiting for the opportune moment when it can abandon the sinking Eurozone and U.S. and embrace the East. With time, the benefit/risk ratio for the Germans to abandon the West will continue to grow, shortly surpassing that of remaining in the status quo...
Contrary to what many believe, I think Germany has a covert plan, and its silence with regard to the obvious problems arising from supporting its reckless western ally, is telling.
Yes, and Germany will then again be villified aaaaaaaaaand we're off to WWIII, with the same villian as last two go rounds. Might be a little tougher this time with the Brics wall behind Germany.
if you stand on your head, that graph looks pretty good.
With the world powers all buying time why is time still flying by ?
If should fly by faster as they are buying the time with debt which just front-loads demand.
