Most people would discourage war, but if one looks at history, pacifism never seems to prevent them. There is always a person, group or nation that sees weakness and feels no other choice but to take advantage of it, just like we do muppets, right? The only true deterrence is strength and the courage to NOT use it unless truly threatened. We live in a world dominated by propaganda, and as such have nothing but our preconceived notions and bias to guide us. I don't know how many beheading videos you have seen,
I have seen One real beheading video, and it was of a Christian forced to convert to Islam,
but then killed by the Islamist anyway,
and the killer used a large machete knife as a saw blade,
and it was not edited, but showed the cutting entirely continously,
and it was slow and very bloody, until the head was completely separated from the body,
not like the edited Fake videos of these two "journalists".
The complete real unedited video of this Christian beheaded was subsequently later broadcast on the internet and I later saw it when it was tweeted with a link on twitter.
After the Foley video, there were statements that the knife did not appear real. In the Sotoff video, we have a close up of the knife right at the start to 'prove' it is real, but there is no video of it ever cutting anything.
In the Foley video, there was no arterial blood spray pattern anywhere, only a small puddle of blood around the very clean looking shoulder-neck that was carefully angled so that no viscera could be seen, the head-neck is not visible.In the Sotoff video, there is more blood, especially on the orange jumpsuit, but the blood is directly adjacent to the body, there is still no arterial spray pattern, and we can be certain, from the plants shown in the background, that the video of the 'body' is taken at the same location where the video of the 'beheading' was. Also, in the Sotoff video, the shoulder-neck is angled so that it can be seen, and does appear to show viscera, but it only pans into view as the video is already fading to black and only visible for a few frames, again the head-neck is not visible.
Other than the complete lack of an arterial spray pattern and there being no video of an actual beheading, the biggest give away that the Sotoff video is fake is the image of the severed head, which is clearly photoshopped onto something and does not track fluidly with the panning camera. The head also appears to have on it blood distributed in such a way that I would not expect to occur from a beheading but rather would expect to occur from it being smeared on by hand.

If you've seen an actual beheading video, then you know that blood begins to spray everywhere and in a forward pattern as soon as you cut the neck. You do not saw a knife into someone's throat 6-7 times rapidly with there being no blood at all, as occurs in both the Foley and Sotoff videos.
