What's The Point Of Hiding It Any Longer?

Tyler Durden's picture

Compare and contrast.

From the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 2012 10-K:

Customer Base

Our customer base includes professional traders, financial institutions, institutional and individual investors, major corporations, manufacturers, producers and governments.

And from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 2013 10-K:

Customer Base

Our customer base includes professional traders, financial institutions, institutional and individual investors, major corporations, manufacturers, producers, governments and central banks.

And there you have it, but in case anyone is still confused, here is some more:

At this point why even pretend there is a "market"? The "market", and by "market" we mean stocks - it has long been known that central banks actively trade bonds, FX and commodities - is whatever central banks say it is.

Finally, if central banks are going to be rigging the market as they now conclusively are on a daily basis, perhaps they can disclose ahead of the trading day start to everyone, and not just the primary dealers, what the closing S&P 500 price for any given day is.

I was at the old CBOT last month.  You can see it in the eyes of the few specialists still hanging around.  You can see it in the valet racks filled with colored trading jackets that are no longer used.  The market is dead.  It has been sick for a long time, but central planning and HFT killed it.

Questions like "Have you prayed to god" is just rehearsed script. Just when we say "Knock on wood" when we want to prevent something bad happening. So what is evil and what is good? It's all just primordial soup, and the bankstas have just evolved further ahead than our sorry asses. Is that what you believe? I believe in human morality - which is the result of intelligent design - meaning we have a moral duty between right and wrong - as do the immoral bankstas. Live accordingly. In your case that may mean to slink back down into the primordial soup - as you clearly don't believe anyone has a say in these matters as we're all simply physical creatures. Don!'t get me started on how this all started, nor the what eternity is all about.

I am not advocating catastrophe (or any other device/method) as THE mechanism which drives change.

Change is needed and is coming. It can't be held back much longer now.

The system is blowing apart at its seams and structurally failing at the same time.

You sound like you know it will be at the very minimum; Most unpleasant.

The convergence of many different issues/problems/risks/threats/diseases is nearing critical mass.

So many of the singular events classify as high prob / high consequence...

When you take them in aggregate and look at the risk profile increases for the average US Male over the last 20 years, it's breathtaking.

I'm not rooting for catastrophe, but it looks like that is what you are gonna get.

Despite all the thievery, wars, taxes, inflation , and anything else that .gov can dish out, life , fed, clothed and sheltered by markets continues. It is the market that provides for whatever human needs are met, even in a collapsed Zimbabway., and a bombed out Hiroshima.

I got a taste of how absolutely amazing the changes are by taking my first ride on Lyft.

Less than two minutes from tapping the app to having a car pull up calling my name.I have been in City Hall when the cabbies come in to moan. Even though I am blind, I could feel the supervisors squirm.
The service is too much better and there are too many voter customers to stop it now. Medallion cabs , with all the BS they come with are walking dead, just like the buggy makers a century earlier.

Market trumps politics again.

Look down at your keyboard. Yes, go ahead and look DOWN.

See the letter 'G' right next to the letter 'H'?

Pumpkins are cool because they are big and fat when they ripen (and their fingers are as well). He meant 'deniged', or 'denihed', surely?

It's a matter of 'pattern recognition' you know (spelling, that is). If one was to use the letters 'g' and 'h' in the word, it should have been 'denieghd' (the 'g' and the 'h' are silent). I don't even know why the English language allows the use of these letters put together. They kind of sound like a person trying to clear phlem from his throat, when prounounced together (and perhaps that is their only purpose together).

'NEIGHBOR'. It should be spelled 'nayber' (as pronounced), but the 'gh' is added to soften the intonation a little and indicate an 'a' sound in usage as well as cause the accent to be on the first syllable and take the power of the second syllable's vowel down in pronunciation (in which case, it could have been spelled 'nayeber', except that the enunciation might be mistakenly made on either syllable or both). Pun'kin knows the grammatical 'rules', but didn't check the pattern. At first, I thought he typed 'de-knighted' (mis-spelled). Of course, the word 'knight' breaks the 'A'hole rule in using 'GH'...

What do they call those trolls who rag on people for mis-spelled words; again; instead of discussing the issues they state? I seem to have gone far past that point of caring about the 'ebonics' versus 'phonics' versus 'King's English' over the past few years on the alternets.

CUZ...? WTF is THIS?

Just as a point of order, the guys on the floor of the CBOT are not "specialists".  That is what you call the guys on the floor at a stock exchange like NYSE.  The guys on the floor of the CBOT are one of 3 things: brokers, floor traders (speculators or scalpers) or some kind of clerk.  The difference is that "specialists" had a duty to make an orderly market in exchange for which they literally held the order book and so knew what the order stack looked like, very useful information.  CBOT guys have neither the book nor any obligation to make an orderly market in exchange for that knowledge.

And what killed that was really the rise of computerized trading, whether it is involved in HFT or not.  Central planning, and greenspan's policy, now institutionalized, to "help" stock prices as a matter of "policy" has now severly impinged on even the computerized markets and has made the stock market (NYSE and NASDAQ, not CBOT) a farce.

I do miss the hustle and bustle of the pit, and the colored jackets, a couple of which I have hanging in my closet here at home.

Maybe it's all about amplitudes and time, Like Quantum Electrodynamics.

You just have to stop trying to understand why it's the way it is, just look at the logical consequences and figure out HOW it works.

Problem is that the only people with sufficient knowledge are the ones making the rules and if anyone else was to figure it out, they'd change how it works.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to lose a game where you get to write the rules and change 'em whenever you felt like it.

The Chinese and Russians are out to purge the US in their traditional manner, not just slap the Fed across the face.  When gold shoots up it will do so in a time and manner that will expose the fact that they have all the gold, the COMEX is empty and the Fed has leased everything they had.

The FED is the enemy. They are the most criminal of all organizations.

But I do not underestimate them in the least. They have earned my respect as they have been able to screw me over.

There is an old Wall Street admonition. Do not fight the FED. I guess that it has worked so far. It will...until it does not. Hopefully the enemy will be defeated some day soon. But until that day happens I strongly suggest that you give those criminal psychopaths their due respect.

I will even respect them as I lead them up the scaffold so they can meet their fate with the sharpend steel edge of the guillotine blade. It costs nothing to give my last respects at that point in time.

McCormick No. 9

Because our way of life has already peaked; and the collapse is taking shape.

The reason that we haven’t felt the collapse, it’s because it has been delayed by credit-money (such as student loans to keep teachers employed) and subsidies (QE, government deficits, TARP, and so on).

The real problem is that:

The people that know, knows that there are NO solutions (such as central bankers, government and military officials). But they have to keep lying.

The people with an IQ of 125 are about to find out (such as many readers at Zero Hedge) and most are unprepared.

The total collapse will happen when the 100 IQ average people find it out. Then, it’s too late.

We will be entering the shortages and rationing.

This is why Japan is going to lose access to toilet paper, and so will everyone else.  This is a massive misallocation of resources.  Everyone thinks wealth is paper and central bank printing helps them collect wealth.  The entire global economy is dedicated to paper.  Then suddenly they realize no one is making any friggen toilet paper, and the people that have it won't give it up for printed paper money.  The first thing I do when I get extra government paper is get rid of it.  Anyone can see this mania is already ending badly.

And the Yen is a failed currency right now.  If no one has any economic incentive to sell you toilet paper for your currency, take the hint.
