Obama Folds To Democrat Demands, Delays "Unilateral" Immigration Action
After infamously flip-flopping not only on interventionist US foreign policy, where he first promised no US troops would operate in Iraq only to see nearly 1000 marines "augmenting diplomatic security in Iraq", but his core Iraq mandate, having fought tooth and nail against the Bush legacy of Iraq engagement only to see himself mired deep in a land war in the middle east, resulting in this humiliating headline fiasco, now it is Obama's turn to boldly cross yet another red line, this time on immigration politics.
Recall from Obama's infamous June 30 sermon:
“I’m beginning a new effort to fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress.... Deputies will identify actions my administration can take on our own, within my existing legal authorities, to do what Congress refuses to do and fix as much of our immigration system as we can. I expect their recommendations before the end of summer and I intend to adopt those recommendations without further delay."
The reason Obama was "forced" to warn of even more executive action bypassing Congress: "the republicans' fault."
So fast forward two months and it turns out there will be a delay, and a substantial one at that, because earlier today Obama said he will wait until after the November midterm elections to announce any action on immigration reform, drawing criticism from Republicans who accused the president of playing political games. Even NBC observes the now constant flipflop, commenting that "the announcement Saturday reverses a statement Obama made in June when he ordered his team to suggest executive actions he could take to stem deportations by the end of the summer."
What was the official party line for the delay? From the NYT:
[A]dvisers to Mr. Obama believe that an announcement before the midterm elections in November would inject the already controversial issue into a highly-charged campaign environment that would force members of both parties to take extreme positions.
"Because of the Republicans’ extreme politicization of this issue, the president believes it would be harmful to the policy itself and to the long-term prospects for comprehensive immigration reform to announce administrative action before the elections,” a White House official said. “Because he wants to do this in a way that’s sustainable, the president will take action on immigration before the end of the year.”
In other words, first it was the Republicans' fault for Obama's June 30 push to act unilaterally, and now it is the Republicans' fault he has to reneg on his promise to act unilaterally. Curious. But don't worry about any lapses in logic - Obama will act... eventually.
Administration officials insist that Mr. Obama is more determined than ever to take action — eventually. But the president and his top aides have concluded that an immigration announcement before November could anger conservatives across the country, possibly cripple Democratic efforts to retain control of the Senate and severely set back any hope for progress on a permanent immigration overhaul.
Politics aside, what is the real reason for Obama's flipflopping?
The president’s pledge in June had committed him to acting in the weeks before the midterm elections, when a half-dozen Democratic senators must face the voters. Sensing a potentially powerful issue, Republicans have repeatedly accused Mr. Obama of preparing to usurp power from Congress and of wildly overstepping the authority of his office.
As the election draws closer, nervous Senate Democrats in Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina and Alaska had told White House officials that Mr. Obama’s actions could cost them victory at the polls. Those conversations culminated in the decision to delay immigration action.
In other words: when it comes to preserving the democratic majority in the Senate, all of Obama's populist rhetoric and appeals to the masses promptly fade into the background. Which is to be expected: after all Obama is nothing more than a consummate figurehead - he has never been for actually taking important decisions; in fact, lately the president's most important daily decision is whether to use a 3 or 5 Wood.
Finally, it was not only republicans who were angry: one of the biggest democratic voter constituencies was hardly pleased:
Cristina Jimenez, the managing director for United We Dream, an immigration advocacy group, accused Mr. Obama of “playing politics” with the lives of immigrant families and said “the president’s latest broken promise is another slap to the face of the Latino and immigrant community.”
Our advice to the Latino and immigrant community: get yourself a bank, load it up with a few hundred billion in deposits and toxic loans, and a few hundred trillion in derivatives, spend a few hundred million per year on purchasing Congressional muppets, and then you too will be calling the shots. Until then, prepare to be nothing but the lowest common denominator in the TOTUS/GOTUS' populist fodder.

In an almost completely white town where I live, across a wide river from a larger city with a significant black and hispanic/latino population,
in the local white town Wal-Mart, about half of the Wal-Mart workers are black or hispanic/latino,
and almost all the hispanic/latino workers speak Spanish as their primary language.
Seems to be corporate Affirmative Action that discriminates against hiring white people.
Many of the jobs advertised in the area REQUIRE bi-lingual fluency to be considered for employment,
obviously because of the large number of Spanish speaking people in the area who do not speak English,
presumably illegal aliens.

A decent Republican Party that wanted to be representative could cream the Democrats and pro-amnesty politicians on this issue - trumpeting constantly that uncontrolled amnesty, open borders, immigration like you’ve never seen before, a Mexican wave hanging over your head, is coming your way the day after election. You have to wait though. You have to wait until after election day and THEN it hits - after you've voted Democrat.
But the Republicans won’t make it an issue. If they did, it would be a landslide for the Republicans.

“Once this Idaho manufacturing tract would be turned over to the Chinese, a veritable flood of 257 such tracts/zones are on the drawing boards for establishment in the Rust Belt areas of Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.”
The Idaho Statesman wrote 3 1/2 years ago that “Sinomach officials met with Boise city and airport officials — including Mayor Dave Bieter — to discuss developing a first phase for the technology zone that would set up a base of operations for Chinese companies doing business in the United States.”
The Stateman reported that a “Chinese national company is interested in developing a 10,000- to 30,000-acre technology zone for industry, retail centers and homes south of the Boise Airport....
"They are also interested in helping build and finance a fertilizer plant near American Falls…
“'I think China’s coming over here shows they are willing to collaborate on the reinvigoration of the American industrial base,' said Jeff Don, CEO of Eagle-based C3, which is acting as an Idaho representative for the Chinese company, called Sinomach for short.'”

This is a silly democrat rhetorical device often used in relation to immigration reform as though somehow it needed reform. Sadly it works and not just on the lowest common denominator. Obama says "congress wont act so I have to." It assumes that congress should do something and that doing nothing is worse than doing something and that they should do what he wants no questions. It's fucking idiotic considering they've done quite enough don't you think. And even more idiotic considering both parties motivation when it comes to illegal immigration. I mean gee, more NDAA, more ACA, Dodd/Frank is this what you want? Please try to avoid party rhetoric, that shit will rot your brain and I shouldn't need to stipulate this applies to both parties.
Is our country owned by someone else? It feels like we are losing our identity. We allow 1 man to play with our heritage as though millions did not die for what we are. Your friend's sentiments apply to a great many people in the US today. Keeping your head down and your mouth shut goes a long way toward jobs preservation. How people vote however and their family discussions are private and lets hope that there will be a ground swell for change during voting in the upcoming election. This and 2016 will probably be the last times we will have the ability to change anything in this country through the ballot box.

So let me get this straight, first Barry couldn't get his reforms because of the Republicans. Now he can't get them because of the Democrats. Maybe, just maybe, the majority out there isn't interested in his "reforms"? Looks like the guy's as clueless as ever.
