More Lies: NFL Had Rice Tape In April
In a world of no consequences and where lying is justified "when it's serious enough," it is hardly surprising that mere hours after stating unequivocally that none of the law enforcement entities the league approached "was permitted to provide any video or other investigatory material to us," AP reports that, in fact, a law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive five months ago. More lies - but then we are sure, just as we have heard many times before, Roger Goodell was 'unaware' of the situation...
Commissioner Roger Goodell has sent a memo to the 32 teams reiterating that the NFL never saw until Monday the video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee that led to Rice's indefinite suspension and release by the Baltimore Ravens.
Goodell told the teams on Wednesday that none of the law enforcement entities the league approached "was permitted to provide any video or other investigatory material to us." He said the league did not ask the casino directly for the video.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said Tuesday in a letter to the fans that the team tried to get the video from both the casino and law enforcement. The casino wouldn't share it and the authorities refused, he said.
Goodell also stressed his confidence in how the NFL will deal with domestic violence and sexual assault in the future — "seriously and effectively."
A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive five months ago, while league executives have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.
The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."
The law enforcement official, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, says he had no further communication with any NFL employee and can't confirm anyone watched the video. The person said they were unauthorized to release the video but shared it unsolicited, because they wanted the NFL to have it before deciding on Rice's punishment.

I'm old school too. Been arrested, charged twice, never convicted for "domestic violence". Basically, it's a skim you for money game. They line their pockets employing lawyers and creating new special programs for "victims" to expand the government while yelling phony moral outage at you.
The good news is the "PC" authorities are out of money, jails are full, which is why you see these "pre-trial" programs popping up all over the place letting first timers walk (and I'll bet it will spread beyond until these laws are no longer enforced). We can no longer afford have millions in prison for basically, minor issues, which were not even crimes until the 1980's. Cops used to leave married people alone once they verified both parties were still breathing. It was viewed as none of their business.
Bottom line is the cure for "domestic violence" is far worse than the "crime" itself.

Maybe I'm blind but I watched the tape a couple times and for the life of me could not see whether he punched her or slapped her. I lean toward the latter. She was drunk and it doesn't take much to drop a drunk.

A case in suburban DC (Maryland) when I lived up there. Black welfare mother, drunk and on drugs, drives into a pond. Her two kids die, she survives. The judge lets her off with time served because she has "suffered enough." If an NFL player can sign off on having his body brutalized I guess you could justify it by saying it's completely his choice to debase himself. "Duress" is another one of those key words, exactly what is "duress" for any pro player? You're getting millions to play a game while most folks in the cheap seats are working minimum wage jobs if they have 'em or two if they are lucky. At least as a player, you have the opportunity to rise to the top and be paid for your skills. Koppenhaver, who legally changed his name to War Machine in 2008, told the judge on Wednesday that he understood the charges and would use the name Koppenhaver in court. He wasn’t asked to enter a plea.
“I think the public will understand that War Machine’s a character,” Koppenhaver’s lawyer Brandon Sua said outside court. “He is controversial and people need to understand where to draw that line from his character as War Machine and a person as Jon Koppenhaver, because that’s who he is.”
