Full European Commission Statement On Next Round Of Russian Sanctions

Tyler Durden's picture

From Europe's Chief Haiku Officer, Herman van Rompuy (now that he is president only in legacy terms, replaced by the guy who will lie - and allegedly drink - every time it gets serious):

Statement by the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy on further EU restrictive measures against Russia

The set of measures adopted on Monday will enter into force on Friday 12 September 2014.

At the same time, it is my understanding that the Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) before the end of the month will carry out a comprehensive review of the implementation of the peace plan on the basis of an assessment carried out by the European External Action Service (EEAS).

We have always stressed the reversibility and scalability of our restrictive measures. Therefore, in the light of the review and if the situation on the ground so warrants, the Commission and the EEAS are invited to put forward proposals to amend, suspend or repeal the set of sanctions in force, in all or in part.

It is expected that the Council will consider these proposals urgently with a view to take action if appropriate.

It goes without saying that the market is far more interested in the Kremlin counterstatement which should be due shortly.

Corrupt unelected EU "Leaders" acting again in the best interests of themselves and not the people just to lick Obumboy's ass to serve the intersts of "Big Government and/or The NWO". The sooner The UK and/or Germany pull out of this monstrosity the better. We can then revert to a Europe of Sovereign States operating within a Free Trade area without the pretence of a Federal Europe, which the peoples of Europe don't want.

He is making war on Russia with further sanctions, but he is rich and has lots of poor people that he is appeasing by saying well no one wants this to get ugly we can call it all off if Russia plays ball...

Economic contraction leads to friction which leads to further economic contraction which leads to further friction.  Now, as an electrical engineer, this looks alarmingly like a positive feedback loop.  Status Quo is on high alert.

TPTB should be more careful with their sanctionings of each other.  Isn't that much like a friction in this case?

So things are getting serious.  For sure we know what that means to expect more of:  lies.

I just don't see a sitting American President being removed from office before the end of his term by anything but death or some horrible illness.  Worse than Reagan's Alzheimers, worse than FDR's complications from Polio.  It would pretty much have to be an assasination.  No way they'd get him out through any legal means.  And a successful assasination/coup hasn't taken place since LBJ had Kennedy killed.  Damned difficult thing to pull off in today's world.

Dereliction of duty.

It has to be started by democrats, neocon democrats.

But there is no legal path defined to remove a president for dereliction of duty.  Only the vague "high crimes and misdemeanors" defined in impeachment.  And, of course, no president has every been removed from office by impeachment, even if convicted.

Besides, Obama's smart enough to read the tea leaves.  If he feels like there is legit pressure in that direction, which I don't see happening, he'll do JUST ENOUGH to avoid it.

The MIC and the Bank lobby are completely aligned. They both share the same interest in preserving the petro-dollar. I can't wait for the boomerang to come back and hit!!! Probably EU based airlines will be prohibited from flying to Asia across the vast expanse of Russia. They will need to fly over Alaska and this will put some airlines out of buisness. More unemplyment for the EU before the holidays. Second, increase price and decrease the gas supply and demand payment from EU for gas in gold, yuan or rubles. No gas for Ukraine, shut them off completely, let the US and EU worry about them freezing this winter!!

It would behoove Putin to target airlines from weaker nations with this ban.

He wants to split up the EU, and the best way of doing this is driving a wedge between north and south.

So, he could prohibit all flights over Siberia of airplanes with the following nation's flags;

- Italy
- Spain
- Portugal
- France
- Greece
- Ukraine
- Ireland

stamped on their tails.  It would make THOSE airlines uncompetetative against their norther bretherin, and further push the wedge between north and south in Europe.  This would be the better solution.

This would not be the correct move.  Put in needs to start individually sanctioning "EU" nations.

He would do well to target the weaker financially sound nations (in the south) than the North.  So if he were to sanction car sales, he would do best to sanction;

- French car manufacturers
- Italian car manufacturers

You could sanction SEAT, but all they are are stripped down VWs, so that is kinda "meh."

Put financial pressure on the weaker nations, while leaving the northern nations alone.  Even if the northern countries step in to fund the poorer souther ones, there will be hell to pay re; political backlash in the north, especially in Finland and in the Netherlands where German post-war guilt has nothing to do with decision making.

I beg to differ. The US is gone. They still hold sway over some governments, but that is dwindling fast. There is absolutely no justification for these sanctions and the whold house of cards is going to come down.

The US, not Russia, is looking for an excuse, ANY excuse as the economy and the banking system collapses.

Russia and China will be the ones benefitting from this, EU will disintegrate as a result of this, and the US will find itself increasingly isolated.

The EU being a fascist/corporatist unit will deal disregarding the wishes of the citizens. As the facts of the MH17 will be leaked, all credibility of the leadership in the West will have evaporated, and the mental right of way, will have been lost.

This is extremely bad news, and people not positioning themselves out of harms way will be wiser and poorer.

The last world war could be on the cards.

US Defense Dept changed Doctrine for fighting multiple wars after 9-11 or shortly before.

I wonder if this was partly due to trends in US Debts, US Bankruptcies, and Massive US Federal Spending. They even changed bankruptcy laws to make them tougher on Individuals Pre-9-11 in view of the Housing Bubble & Sub-prime Mortgages.

So... yeah, maybe Bankers, US Politicians, and US Powers... are looking for some excuse to collapse our economies and our currencies.

The Tactic would just contain an escape plan for wealthy people to flee to other countries or other currencies.
