Martin Armstrong Warns "Spain Is Moving Towards Civil War"

Spain-Militarizing

The Spanish government is militarizing gearing up for violent protests against the EU that are expected to turn up before a hot autumn. Spain is now equipping the police with about one billion million euros with new combat equipment. Violent protests in Spain since the crisis began almost a daily occurrence. Movements such as 25 de Mayo or the Indignados call Spaniards of all strata of the population to protest against the government on the streets. The police will always respond violently. They cover up their brutal responses by banning any video of police beatings making it a crime in itself. This is certainly illustrating the loss of freedom and any democratic process within Europe. The police scandals have only charged the atmosphere within the population and we may see this erupt into civil war as we move forward.

goya civil war

Goya’s painting of the brutal treatment of citizens during the The Third Of May 1808 is a reminder of what we could face in the aftermath of the militarization of Spain against its own citizens.

Since June, the Spanish Interior Ministry has signed four contracts for the purchase of protective vests, shields and other riot gear. These weapon purchases are causing many to relive very bad memories in Spain. Spain has also bought water canons, a weapon that by the end of the Franco dictatorship was in continuous use. Opposition leader Antonio Trevin called the purchase therefore “a return to the times we would rather forget.” The Interior Ministry has responded merely justifying their rearming as necessary “because of the current social dynamics”, reports the Guardian.

The protests are mainly directed against the always new austerity measures, tax increases, the extremely high youth unemployment, homelessness following the bursting of the housing bubble, and also against a restrictive policy such as the recent bill to ban abortions. Then there is the movement to establish a referenda for the abolition of the monarchy.

Then throw in the separatist movement as we see in Scotland where the Catalans are moving for their independence. There were protests against the recent visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel that had to be violently dispersed by the government.

Spain is moving toward civil war.

Even the human rights organization Amnesty International has expressed concern over the arming of the police. the police are there to protect the government – not the people. That is a dangerous position that sets the stage for civil war.

Can’t argue with you post!

Anyway, as we move to a more localized economy, to save whatever energy left, all these large institutions (government, corporations, and banks) will eventually fail.

So will all the illusions.

What is the source for that information? Spanish newspapers say one million. Hell of a difference.

What's wrong with banning abortion? Does Armstrong expect me to believe that millions of Spaniards are out rioting for the right to chop up infants? If so, then let the water cannons roll, and I hope the policía crush this rebellion into the dust. I have my doubts that Armstrong really understands their agenda, however. At least I hope so.

As far as I know, it has been proven that some of the most violent incidents in Demonstrations in the last years here in Barcelona have been due to infiltrated police disguised as Anarchists starting vandalism and violence all over etc

This then justified the hated "Mossos d´Esquadra" Police Corps to beat all the protesters down.

When the maidan protests turned ugly, tires burning, protesters throwing molotov cocktails and rocks at police, using sticks against police the government responded and the US and EU said no heavy handed measures should be used against protestors. Let's see what EU goverments do when this shit starts breaking out in their countries in the coldest days of winter and the apartments of ordinary citizens are freezing cold. Remember the US shot a woman in the head and killed her when her vehicle got too close to the White House. Let's watch the hypocrisy unfold!!!

I´m living in Barcelona, and it has been a peaceful day until now, here it is now almost 10 o´clock in the evening.

The number of the participants in the rally has been set quite high from the Police, as it is the very CATALAN police "Guardia Urbana". I guess, they are mainly backing the secession of Catalonia.

So the number of 1.8 million might has been a very positiv estimation to support the whole thing.

I´m living here since 12 years and so far I would say the catalans a very educated and peaceful people.

So in my view it would need very agressive Provocations from Madrid/Rajoy, to enfuriate them.

On the other hand, if Scotland is succeding with their vote and separates from England, and the Catalans aren´t even allowed ( Rajoy says, it´s against the Constitution ) to make a vote about their own separation, things could get quite nasty here.

I´m pretty shure, the scottish vote officially will result in a "NO", because, how could the EU and her masters  allow a "YES"?

A scottish "YES" could mean:  Turmoil in Catalonia, everything even more fucked up in "Novarussia", Crimea asking for world-wide recognition and maybe even french would demand to go to vote for new Election in Paris, with Marine Le Pen als President. The latter could mean the End of nightmare EU.

Looks like the Spanish people have more courage than the American people.

An American, not US subject.

The American  people really need to realize that a choice is coming whether they like it or not: They can wither away in poverty and misery with everyday a fight to just survive or fight to take back the county, the American country, from these treasonous criminals and murderers.

The choice is coming: Persecution or Revolution.

The Four Rs

Rejection: Quit paying, quit obeying, quit playing

Revolution: It is inevitable, so prepare, as they are.

Retribution: The guilty must answer for their crimes against the American people and the Constitution.

Restoration: Restore the American people, country and Constitutional republic.

I find it really odd, that as globalization and the EU have both reached new heights of power and consolidation, as NATO now numbers more countires than a person can name off, when Washington proclaims power to act anywhere and everywhere without consultation with anyone. When the total victory of a Globalized World is upon us, all of a sudden people all over are demanding freedom and seperation from central governments they feel abuse them. Ukraine and Donbass.  South Ossetia and Georgia. Scotland and England. Spain and Catalonia Spain. East and West Libyan tribes. To see seperatisim gain strength within modern Europe. Are people wanting more independent states in hopes of freeing themselves from globalization friendly central governments?

And as to seperatism and civil war. Anothe ticking time bomb waits inside many European nations. I speak of the non-European ethnics that are larger and larger % inside Europe. I could point o London exploding a few years back. Or Sweden, where immigrants revolted against the nation and people who provide them total support without work. And the call of Muslims in Europe to turn Europe into a Muslim set of nations. Denmark cracked down on such an open movement of Muslims a few years ago, when the Muslims went public with plans to flood Denmark with world Muslims and then proclaim the end of christian Denmark and it's people.

The whole globaization dream of corporate and USA interests seems ready to blow wide open.

This is a long-standing problem which, if you haven't been following the story, is hard to understand.
In a nutshell, Catalonia, and the Basque Country, have been dominated for centuries. The Castilians forced Castilian down the throats of the rest of Spain. Centuries of intimidation and humiliation have led to a deterioration of the culture of non-Spanish-speaking people. Luckily, the Spanish are not as good at doing away with non-state languages as the French are.
After the 1936-1938 Spanish Civil War, the resulting fascist regime closed down all of the non-Spanish media. Non-Spanish schools were closed down until the 1960's. In the 1940's and 1950's, people were even fined for speaking Basque in the streets. Basque names were chipped off gravestones. There is historical memory which, if aggravated, makes many want independence.
The Catalans voted for a new autonomy statute which passed by a huge margin in the Catalan Parliament. It was voted on in a referendum put to the Catalan people. The understanding with then-PM of Spain was that the will of the Catalan people would be respected. Instead, it was watered down by the Spanish Parliament and furthered watered down by the Constitutional Court. That was bad enough but what really stirred up things was the fact that many of the provisions that were struck down were left intact in other Statutes of autonomy, e.g. Valencia and Andalusia.
This resentment coupled with the ongoing economic collapse of the Spanish state has led to this. More money flows out of Catalonia than comes in (though some Spaniards deny this). Sorry for the long post but I thought an explanation of what is driving the Catalans. The Catalans who don't feel Spanish are regularly insulted by Spanish nationalists. Things have come to a head. With or without independence, they are screwed economically . Many Catalans feel that the might as well be poor and Catalan instead of being poor and Spanish-Catslans, despised by many proud Spanish nationalists.

As a spaniard, I have to say this is complete SHIT. And I know I'll receive many many negative votes from people who know nothing from Spain appart from paella, toros and flamenco, but everything said here is completely false.
In Spain, protests do NOT happen daily. It's true we've been having more protests since president Rajoy entered in the government, but we have them once or twice in a year. Well, if you count those three secretary of the town's hospital who cry "stop cutting the expending!!", well, who knows, maybe they occur more frequently (in fact, those shitty state officials are the ones who protest the most), but the real ones, the ones with people on the streets, they occur once or maybe twice in a year. Maybe they are convocated in more than one city, but that's just because those movements are very well connected thanks to social networks.
Second, police do NOT respond agressively and, trust me, there's no censorship here in Spain (in fact there is a lot of misinformation going against the government, and that misinformation includes everything related to police).
Thirdly, if you come here you will see the ambient is not a pre-war one. People is frustrated and want changes because, hey, nobody likes the government to raise taxes and cut expendigs, but nobody is going to go and start a war. People are just voting to a new far left party (concretely Podemos, or "We Can") which is, in fact, the most dangerous thing that can happen to Spain.

I'm sick and tired of people who calls us lazy or pigs (in the financial environment). My country has been very very badly run by a guy who knew nothing about economics (just like Obama, but without the FED). He spent lots of money and left the country at the edge of bankrupcy (just like america, or france, or UK??). But then again the people from those countries keep criticizing us. Look at your own problems and look at how you are solving them (QE anyone??).
I'm proud of what my country has done. We're a country of hard working people, and we made a lot of effort to avoid bankrupcy and grow. It's one of the few eurozone countries growing and, while our unemployment is very very high, it is due to our expensive labour costs (too many years of socialism sadly). The government did what they could (maybe they should have cut more and lowered taxes), but that's more than many many other countries, and is, in fact, more than what the countries the critics come from have done. Those are the problems of democracies.

Martin Armstrong clearly doesn't know shit about spaniards.
As a spaniard, all I can say is, civil war in modern day is by no means possible, at least here.
Besides, didn't you know Spain is the strongest nation on earth?
It has been trying to destroy itself for centuries, and still hasn't managed to do it. (von Bismark dixit)

Regarding civil war, it's very simple, just introduce a foreign invader, a common enemy.
You'll see, even kids and granpas will fight, without a rest, and without organising themselves, guerrilla style.
Napoleon's brother discovered the underlying spanish character the hard way.

The wars between brothers and neighbours for stupid reasons, were promoted by extreme ideologies of the time.
Now a days, the sentiment is still alive, but it's completely different because of the times we live in.
Modern times, surrounded by technology, culture and memories.

The day something happens, the day spaniards change apathy for action, Spain will rise again to become a global superpower. Because, somehow it has what it takes. It's just very badly administrated.
That's the only curse spain suffers and has suffered. Bad administration, of everything.

I suppose you'll return it all back if you go solo right?

Their beloved ex-president, "very honorable" titled, and his family stole more than 3000 million euros.
And that's just the start, practically all VIP politicians are implicated directly or indirectly.

A Catalonian country is desired by a few who are "the same ones", who are followed by the catalan sheeple who won't benefit in any way from their newly created country.
It's just another scam, another way to steal money.

Only self-idependence gives you true freedom and happiness, no country or gov't can give you that.
Don't follow anyone, you are your own leader.

A country made up of free and independent individuals is much more powerful than a country made up of slaves and sheeple who are made beLIEve they're free and follow blindly the preachers.

"Goya’s painting of the brutal treatment of citizens during the The Third Of May 1808 is a reminder of what we could face in the aftermath of the militarization of Spain against its own citizens. "

Franco can't be reached for comment.  And wtf about the "militarization of Spain against its own citizens?"

Nobody understands the Guardia Natcionale?

Martin Armstrong is a desperate man to get into the game and the "boys" will not let him back in the club.

His lies to truth mixture invalidate everthing he publishes.

Much as we have a little referendum thingy happening in the northern part of the UK (ahem) right now, still odd that these disturbances in Spain are going completely unreported in the MSM.

As expected the coming vote in Scotland has stirred things up. Borders are a creation of man and not visible to the birds flying above. Much bloodshed and many wars could be avoided if the issues of regime change or borders could be handled in a more rational and constructive way, but do not expect this to happen.

Borders and political control is a problem that haunts man since before the written word. Recently President Obama and other officials have talked about the legal sanctity of sovereign borders, but in reality this is an argument of convenience masking deeper issues. When it comes down to it we are just pawns in this sad power game. If you doubt this just ask some of the many people displaced from their homes in Syria. More on the subject of sovereign borders in the article below.

"Martin Armstrong Warns "Spain Is Moving Towards Civil War" "

Armstrong is wrong to claim that Spain is heading for "civil war".

The civil disturbances are not aimed at other civil Spaniards but at the ruling political elites. ie: government. This is true whether it's anti-austerity riots or Catalan independence demos.

It is not civil war he describes, it's revolution.

And for the sake of mentioning it, there's virtually no coverage of the Spanish demos and riots on British TV: Sky, BBC, ITV, Channel4. They've obviously been asked not to give Brits the wrong idea.
