Meet The Puppetmasters: Here Are The 25 Most Politically Influential Billionaires In The US

Tyler Durden's picture

It has been said, correctly, if only by those who see beyond the false "left-right" paradigm, that those who call the shots in US politics, and thus American socio-economics, are not so much America's lobbying corporations, but the people behind the corporations - i.e., those who have the money... all of it. Obviously, nobody has more money than America's billionaires. So who are the true puppetmasters who determine America's fate?

For one answer we turn to Brookings Institution Governance Studies Director Darrell West in whose upcoming book "Billionaires: Reflections on the Upper Crust" examines the political use of great wealth, including campaign expenditures, activism through nonprofit organizations and foundations, holding public office, media ownership, policy thought leadership, and behind the scenes influence. Most importantly, it ranks the 25 most influential American billionaires.

So from the Koch Brothers, to Bloomberg, to Tom Steyer, all the way to Marc Andreesen, Donald Trump and Alice Walton, here they are, whether readers agree with the ranking or not.

For more on West' perspectives and reasons for his rankings, below is a clip of the author with Bloomberg's Betty Liu:

What part of MILITARY POWER you don't understand?

How could Putin take all power away from russian oligarchs?

Answer: Killings, death threats.

It is the guns that rule, not money.

Military now is defending assets of current oligarchs in return for food, housing, schooling etc etc, REAL STUFF, not electrons in a computer, REAL STUFF.

who are controlled by the paymaster puppet masters.

Take Putin for example.

He reassembled former KGB and killed or subdued all oligarchs under the threat of death.

Based on my studying TPTB over several decades I have concluded (rightly or wrongly) that the CFR is an organization that supplies the cadre of the real brokers, the Bilderbergers. The Bilderbergers have their hierarchy much as the Masons have their degree steps and Shriners, etc. The real hooking bulls are the surviving Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Kissinger, Soros, Queenie Liz, Queenie Juliana of the land of dikes and tulips, plus the other controllers of the fiats.

As i understand it the Bushes are Trilateralists among many others that are sent to redraw the 3 maps of the world, Europe, Asia, and the Americas for the one worlders. I'm still unclear how it fits together with the incorporation of resource rich Africa. If you knew what to look for, you could see the deference that George the Senior paid Clinton in the debates, who is a Bilderberger. Now, how in the hell would a poor boy from Arkansas be integrated into that powerful crowd? I was told it is simple, Clinton is the illigitimate son of Winthrop. Is that true? Aint got a clue.

At any rate the CFR is flying and maintaining the planes of Bilderberger Airlines and its security apparatus, NATO.

Google Bilderbergers and see the who's who that are calling the shots. Feel free to add on, delete from, confirm, refute but generally add to the information base. Also, did you notice how Dole, McCain, and Romney were good little troops and took staged dives in the elections? Tag Team Wrasslin' at it's finest but not as legitimate appearing. Murdoch is a snake with chamellion characteristics and on the side that approaches everything wrapped in The Flag, toting a Bible, but are mass murderers while camouflaged in anti-abortion, pro-life garb.

This comment will get me less likes in the future. Luckily I dont care. God is the ultimate puppetmaster. These selfish Billionaires are just expressing the momentous Karma built up over millenia thru 'self / me / mine / other', by humanity and now being played out in the final conflict. Deep down you know it. No Im not religious. This is the Final countdown, and humanity will survive and be better. But with less people. Its always been us playing different roles over lifetimes. Many souls, still lost in materialism / illusion, will simply reincarnate somewhere else to do all this again, till they 'get it' for as long as it takes.

Many of the current billionaires are the former millionaires of the 20th century. They are the creatures of the bubble, as John Hoelle calls Michael Bloomberg, “a part of the parasitic apparatus which has destroyed the U.S. economy."

The only consensus Bloomberg represents, says Hoelle in “How Bloomberg Got His Millions," is the consensus of the money lenders.

Bloomberg’s fortune has risen in part from the $10 million dollar package he was given by the private Salomon Brothers when he was asked to leave the firm in 1981. By the time of the 2004 Forbes List his fortune was $5 billion. Bloomberg's net worth is estimated by Forbes as of today at $35 billion.

Another example of how the Greenspan/Bernanke/Yellen wealth transfer and inflation bubble worked out for the 20th Century’s millionaires now 2014 billionaires is Mort Zuckerman. Zuckerman’s 1986 Forbes List worth was $200 million; on the 2004 Forbes List Mort was worth $1.6 billion; the 2013 Forbes List pushed him up to $2.3 B.

Or take S.I. Newhouse's sons, Samuel I. Jr., and Donald, who inherited their father’s 1986 media empire fortune in 1986  listed by Forbes at $2.2 billion. On the Forbes 400 List in 2004, Si’s worth was $7 billion; Donald’s, $7 billion. The 2013 Forbes 400 puts Sam’s fortune at $8.9 billion and Donald’s at $8.3 B.

Sheldon Adelson’s fortune went from $3 billion on the Forbes 2004 list to $28.5 B on the Forbes 2013. Jeff Bezos' $4.3 billion in 2004 soared to $27.2 B on the Forbes’ 2013 list. And so on.

Get the picture?

And just for fun, it appears, the 2013 Forbes 400 has David Rockefeller, Sr., at 193rd, with a fortune of $2.8 B.

Honestly, do you know anything about Bloomberg?  The guy was born in Boston and his family was not loaded.  He created a news service equal or superior to Reuters & Associated Press.  Then, he made a brilliant decision to sell the newsfeed with other features to traders on Wall Street with subscription rates of thousands per month.  So, when you have >10,000 terminals paying you >$1,000 per month, your billing $10m per month.  He probably hit numbers like that about 20+ years ago.

The guy created a brilliant service and an even more brilliant way to monetize it.

Then, he became the mayor of New York.  When he did, he didn't owe anyone favors and didn't take a salary.

I might disagree with everything the guy advocates (stricter gun, smoking and sugar bans), but I thank God he was the mayor of NY for 12 years.  We'd be Detroit if the poison scum like Mark Greene had become mayor 13 years ago.  We'll be bankrupt within a decade now that he is gone.

He should be president.  Honestly, I'd deal with his idiosyncrasies just to have a guy who isn't owned by anyone and owes no favors.

Bloombergs smart idea wasn't:

"a brilliant decision to sell the newsfeed with other features to traders on Wall Street with subscription rates of thousands per month."

It was looking at at how much a month traders could sign up for on their own recognision without another signature and charging us jus below that.

Yes, I know a few things about Michael Bloomberg. And this is from a “puff piece” by Myles Meserve:

“He invested $4 million of his $10 million Salomon Brothers severance package into his start-up” after his final day at Salomon on September 30, 1981.

“His company was originally called Innovative Market Solutions, and consisted of four others, who collaborated to create and program a computer terminal that let traders stay informed about the Treasury bond market.

Source: nytimes.com, encylopedia.com

“In 1982, Merrill Lynch purchased 22 terminals and invested $30 million in Bloomberg's company.”

That’s what I know about Bloomberg; and I know a lot about Merrill, too.  For someone who doesn’t owe anybody anything, Bloomberg sure collects on his insider connections. And by the way, his financial network is a front for a tyrannical government; you send this guy to Washington and our decline would change from Obama’s deteriorating pace to warp speed.

Do you have any conception of what it means to be an insider financially and politically connected to the Fed?

So a few things still bother you a little about Bloomberg? Does it bother you that if he’s elected president he’ll take all of Americans’ guns away?

Professor Werner Sombart, a German economist and sociologist, in his work Die Juden und das Wirtschaftsleben, sums up today’s situation in America as he did Europe’s in 1911:

If we want to make clear in one sentence the direction in which the modern political economy is moving we can say: the stock-exchange agents of the banks are becoming an ever-increasing measure the dictators of economic life. All economic happenings are more and more subordinate to the decisions of finance. The question whether a new industrial undertaking is to spring up or an existing one to be developed; whether the owner of a shop or a store is to get the means to extend his business, all these questions are decided in the offices of Banks and Bankers."

I find this odd considering the Federal Reserve is supposed to be corporation that is not government sponsored in any ways.

http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/12/502

12 U.S. Code § 502 - Liability of shareholders of Federal reserve banks on contracts, etc.

The shareholders of every Federal reserve bank shall be held individually responsible, equally and ratably, and not one for another, for all contracts, debts, and engagements of such bank to the extent of the amount of their subscriptions to such stock at the par value thereof in addition to the amount subscribed, whether such subscriptions have been paid up in whole or in part under the provisions of this chapter.

...

Why is there federal liability laws for a non government owned corporation and

You would think they have no shareholders wouldn't you and be privately owned. So with that said whoever owns stock in these banks are your real owners or proxies of said owners.

A start, I don't know how accurate this is but you crack this nut everything will fall into place.

This is also assuming the legal system isn't rigged when the stakes are high enough, like putting shrub in back 2000.

Here it is the court case in particular that ruled the Federal Reserve is privately owned.

Lewis v. United States, 680 F.2d 1239 (1982)

http://www.save-a-patriot.org/files/view/frcourt.html

So one has to ask itself why are there federal laws governing just how a 'private' business can structure their dividend payments including the percentage amount.

Another good piece of reading from this site, an article from 1995 titled

The End of Ordinary Money
Money, Encryption, Banking, Drugs, and Related Topics
by J. Orlin Grabbe

http://www.save-a-patriot.org/files/view/omoney.html

Substitute drugs with terrorism you get the same story.

* Steward Baker, Chief Counsel for NSA, points out how the spread of cryptology plays into the hands of pedophiles: "Take for example the campaign to distribute PGP ('Pretty Good Privacy') encryption on the Internet. Some argue that widespread availability of this encryption will help Latvian freedom fighters today and American freedom fighters tomorrow. Well, not quite. Rather, one of the earliest users of PGP was a high-tech pedophile in Santa Clara, California. He used PGP to encrypt files that, police suspect, include a diary of his contacts with susceptible young boys using computer bulletin boards all over the country. 'What really bothers me,' says Detective Brian Kennedy of the Sacramento, California, Sheriff's Department, 'is that there could be kids out there who need help badly, but thanks to this encryption, we'll never reach them' " [7] .

Which does lead to a few questions. Since the NSA is the largest user of encryption software in the world, does that mean NSA is rife with pedophiles? Are police *suspicions* to be taken as convincing evidence? And what if this alleged pedophile had never kept notes in the first place? But never mind. What really bothers me is that there could be kids out there who need help badly, but thanks to sloppy records, extended ignorance, and appeals to national security, we'll never reach them.

The NSA Chief Counsel also noted, as he had in previous speeches, ". . . it's the proponents of widespread unbreakable encryption who want to create a brave new world, one in which all of us-- crooks included--have a guarantee that the government can't tap our phones." Which caused one observer, Bruce Sterling, to remark, "As a professional science fiction writer I remember being immediately struck by the deep conviction that there was plenty of Brave New World to go around" [8].

* Georgetown University cryptologist Dorthy Denning reminds us that "Because encryption can make communications immune from lawful interception, it threatens a key law enforcement tool. The proliferation of high quality, portable, easy-to-use, and affordable encryption could be harmful to society if law enforcement does not have the means to decrypt lawfully intercepted communications. Although encryption of stored files is also of concern, 99% of the issue is telephone communications (voice, fax, and data)" [9].

The reason for this is all those people on the phone dealing drugs. "Almost two thirds of all court orders for electronic surveillance are used to fight the war on drugs, and electronic surveillance has been critical in identifying and then dismantling major drug trafficking organizations. In an operation code named 'PIZZA CONNECTION,' an FBI international investigation into the importation and distribution of $1.6 billion worth of heroin by the Sicilian Mafia and La Cosa Nostra resulted in the indictment of 57 high-level drug traffickers in the U.S. and 5 in Italy . . .. The FBI estimates that the war on drugs and its continuing legacy of violent street crime would be substantially, if not totally, lost if law enforcement were to lose its capability for electronic surveillance" [10].

In fact, that's supposed to settle the issue right there: "We need such-and-such to fight the war on drugs. Case closed." This argument is used ad nauseam in document after document. Nowhere is the issue raised: Oh yeah? So why are we fighting a war on drugs? Such questions are ruled out, because we're dealing with *needs* here, and needs spew forth their own logic and evolve their own morals.

* One of governments' biggest needs is to get all that drug money for themselves, the part they don't already have. The U.S. State Department proposes a sort of international spree of government theft: "We must effect greater asset seizures, not just of bank accounts, but also corporate assets and even corporate entities . . . We must be ready to impose appropriate sanctions against banking institutions, as well as bankers . . . The FATF [Financial Task Force] countries, the 12 EU [European Union] nations, the EFTA countries, and the majority of the 95 states party to the 1988 UN Convention are adopting (if not yet fully implementing) legislation that will ultimately improve individual and collective capabilities." [11]

Gate mom IBM board, the rest access to FED cronyism .  Not one industrialist power producer or necessities  of life...  Money changers in the temple..        It doesn't  pass the smell test to me. 55% goes to millitary/security/education cabals of ingnorances and violence..  Most of these people are just empty suits of hegemonic leverage debt.

It's no surprise. Look at how our colleges and universities operate. They stack their ranks with compliant, mealy-mouthed people who follow the politically correct meme.  Back in the day - in the 70s - I remember in the higher level courses I took in third world ag econ, a minority of students in classroom would argue with professors and TAs (mostly foreign) about their socialistic, Centralization is Best approaches to various nation's problems.  And even then, the entire Central American desk at the US ag department had a total of about 5 people - this at a time when we were fighting in 2 wars there. I imagine that today, there is little arguing in the classroom and we've certainly lost our edge in foreign affairs. Drones are so much cheaper than deep thinking and problem solving.

Enough already.  No more conspiratorial innuendo of super secret string pullers pulling the strings of the secret string pullers who pull the strings of blah blah blah.

We live in the age of computers, networks, databases, and people who spend their entire working lives chasing rich people to offer them business deals or money management of investment services or whatever.

If people don't have lists of who all the rich people in world are and how they made their money and what they own, well, they're just not trying hard enough.

If someone owns billions of dollars of assets, people want to know who owns those assets and how much income they are generating.

"It's a secret" or "None of your business" are not acceptabple answers. Especially to tax authoritities.  They want to know what you have, and they're not very careful or very good about keeping secrets.

So, I am very skeptical about all the lurid speculation about how many trillions of dollars are secretly owned or controlled by the Rothschlds or the Rockefellers or whomever.

Somebody 'splain to me how it is even conceivable that such mammoth fortunes could be kept hidden and secret.

People know.  The New York Times knows.  The CIA knows.  The KGB knows.  Mossad knows.  The Chicoms know.

If information is knowable, people will know it.

Yes of course ... there are a lot of things that are known, but not known generally. What is your point? Does it matter if 50,000 people in the world know? 50,000 seems like a lot until you realize the world's population is approaching 7 billion.

Something is not dangerous to those in charge until it is known generally. That is why control of the media is very important.

No, you explain why the NY Times is claiming Vladimir Putin has a “fortune of between $40 billion and $70 billion” but can't prove it.

Forbes Columnist Paul Roderick Gregory made the same claim in March but admitted Forbes had no proof. At the same time, he directed President Obama to “act and act now!“ against Russia, that “there is no need to establish Russian violations of international treaties.”

Apparently, as far as modern media goes, there's no need to "establish" anything; it's just a propaganda shill for the State and the Fed.

Gregory wrote in Follow His Money (even though he couldn’t find the trail): “Among these [Russian] kleptocrats, Vladimir Putin could well be the richest, but his wealth is carefully hidden. It is taboo and dangerous even to talk about. (Ooooo...) Forbes has not been able to estimate his fortune.”

And, btw, "if information is knowable, people will know it," tell me the reach of the Fed's financial tenacles, who gets its counterfeit money in secret and who doesn't. Regarding any “audits” of this devouring "creature from Jekyll Island," American Banking News on 08/23/09 had this to said: “whatever really counts and matters in connection with the Federal Reserve will remain behind closed doors and secret…”

Before I even clicked on this post I knew it would be false. Not even going to bother to click-through to the article as the real money masters go to great lengths to NOT appear on lists such as these. The people on this list are just front men for the real power behind the scenes and I am (for the lack of a better word) proud that most of the posters on this thread so clearly see that. This is a perfect example of why I said in my first post here on ZH last week that many times I enjoy the comments more than the actual article itself.

For all the talk of human shields being used in Gaza, I find it interesting that as events begin to accelerate,  that these so called 'Puppetmasters' are waking up to the realization that in fact it is they who are the human shields for the true string-pullers as can be seen very clearly in the words of the 'pitchfork bait' plutocrats like Nick Hanauer in his piece titled 'The Pitchforks Are Coming… For Us Plutocrats' here: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/06/the-pitchforks-are-coming...

Similarly, it's always fascinated me that the actual people getting their hands dirty pulling the literal trigger for the real controllers via  assasinations etc obviously have never picked up a history book, or heard of the  Night of the Long Knives.

I'll save any potential enforcer types reading this the suspense and skip to the last page of the book and just tell you the story does not end well for you. But in most cases it won't be from the peoples' wrath, it will be at the hands of your masters after you have fulfilled your purpose and are no longer needed. But then again, these types of people are not exactly well known for their forward thinking abilities, or else it would not escape their attention that there is no such thing as an old folks retirement home for spooks.

Money is power, but so too is information and, uh power itself.

Which comes first, one might ask: money or power?

If you have money and someone holds a gun to your head in some dark place, who is more powerful?

Such is the relationship between these billionaire (pawns) and those who have the power to silently kill them, or send them to jail, quite anonymously, if they will it. That such power exists is clear enough to most everyone who reads this web site, though we may give it different names.

Can anyone tell us the names of those who have high enough security clearances than US Presidents and can go anywhere, see anything? Even Snowden hasn't revealed this. Always redacted.

I meet one once in the Army.  They told me to not turn around when it scanned for my injuries, but when it scanned me, I scanned back, caught some of its memories and when it realized I was reading its mind the scan ended abrubtly.

They live mostly underground in well lit cities, walk upright and dress quite fashionably.  This one had a second story home facing the city's town square - I saw him putting on a watch as he looked out the window onto the square.

You left the Directors and CEOs of all the major unions off your list, and they top nearly everyone on your list.

The title of this article should have been the "25 Most Visible Billionaires in the U.S. Media". These folks seek out the media attention that those with REAL POWER seek to avoid.

The list is BULLSHIT !!!!

Any list that excludes David Rockefeller, Gordon Richardson (of the House of Rothschild and considered the most influential banker in the world; now lives in New Yoork City), the Warburgs, Alan Pifer, J. Henry Schroder family, the Cabot family, Harriman family, Schiff family, George F. Baker family,

Loeb family, etc. is suspect! The "clowns" listed in the article may control BILLIONS of dollars - but WHO controls THEM ?????

All one has to do is look at WHO owns the Federal Reserve - they truly control all the politicians.

Good sources:

At the BOTTOM of the article is a LINK to a PDF file with 5 CHARTS showing the real owners of the FED.

The source of the 5 CHARTS: Federal Reserve Directors: A Study of Corporate and Banking Influence. Staff Report,Committee on Banking,Currency and Housing, House of Representatives, 94th Congress, 2nd Session, August 1976.

The relationships among these families, the banks and thousands of multi-national businesses they control is almost INCESTUOUS !!!!   When I first saw these  5 CHARTS, I wondered if there was a ANY large company in the world which they did NOT control?

Until you understand the complex web of family, banking and business relationships these families have set up, you will NEVER understand WHO really controls the MONEY and the GOVERNMENTS of the world.

One of the problems with determining a person's TRUE WEALTH is that TRUSTS are created to protect (in terms of legal liability) and identity the REAL OWNERS of that wealth.

For example, John Kerry is supposedly worth (on his own; NOT including his wife's fortune) between $250 million and $2 Billion. No one KNOWS because he has AT LEAST 4 TRUSTS set up in which he is the beneficiary - and who knows how many more for his children, etc.

If one sets up "layered trusts" (where one trust is owned by a second trust, which is owned by a third trust), finding out who owns those assets and their true value is nearly IMPOSSIBLE.

Further, some states (DELAWARE is the worst!!!!) have such secretive incorporation statutes, so a company can be set up without the real owner ever being revealed. It's true!!!! That is why so many companies incorporate in Delaware, legitimate and "shell companies".  Even the DEA and the FBI don't bother with the Delaware Department of Incorporations, since the courts always rule in favor of Delaware! It is a "states' rights" and "separation of powers" issue.

"If information is knowable, people will know it."

I would think that his would be unarguable.  But it appears that there are people who think that information can be totally "unknown".

The definition of "information" is facts or data that has relevance owing to its relation to something else.

An essential attribute of information is that it is sharable and has some transactional utility.

If the Rothschilds have trillions of dollars in assets, but they don't tell anybody, and no one knows about the assets, how would anyone know they are rich?
