Congresswoman: "I'm Glad People Have This 9/11 Mentality Again"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

In the wake of non-stop propaganda from politicians of both parties, as well as a mainstream media desperate for ratings, the American public is finally terrified enough to support another war in the Middle East. This is an unfortunate development I lamented in yesterday’s post: The American Public: A Tough Soldier or a Chicken Hawk Cowering in a Cubicle? Some Thoughts on ISIS Intervention.

With just 6% of likely U.S. voters thinking Congress is doing a good or excellent job according to a recent Rasmussen poll, it’s no surprise to see so many of these corrupt clowns falling over one another to appear tough on ISIS, using myriad hyperbolic and Orwellian statements.

Let’s start with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) who decided to see if she could take crazy to a whole other level:

“There’s been no pushback against the Islamic State and they have made breathtaking advances. We haven’t seen anything like this since Hitler and the blitzkrieg in World War II

The Islamic State have declared war against the infidel, they have declared war against the U.S.”

Well Rep. Bachmann, perhaps ISIS wouldn’t be so successful if not for our allies funding it, in addition to its use of U.S. military hardware. But of course those arms must’ve just immaculately conceived themselves out of thin air in the desserts of Mesopotamia.

You think that’s bad, how about this one from Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Middle East and North Africa:

“I’m glad people have this 9/11 mentality again.”

This brings up a whole host of followup questions. Why is she glad that people have this 9/11 mentality again? I can’t think of a single positive trend that has happened within the U.S. since September 11, 2001. However, I can think of several awful trends. Let’s name a few:

1) The destruction of the middle class amid a horrible economy.

2) The shredding of the Constitution in the name of security, yet the intelligence services have stopped zero terrorist attacks with all their invasive spying since 9/11.

3) The militarization of the domestic police force.

4) Enormous expansion of our national debt to fund an imperial military presence overseas.

5) Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dead human beings overseas and several countries destroyed beyond recognition (Iraq and Libya) in order to win a “war on terror,” which 13 years later is obviously no closer to being won.

Shall I go on?

But sure, I can see how an environment of fear is in the best interest of corrupt politicians with a 6% approval rating.

Notice how it's the Islamic State and not a organization with a leader.

The state is always an autonomous threat when it's their enemy, but your only ally when they need your support.

It has to be a "state" so the West, primarily the US, can declare war on it. We have a history of not doing very well against vague or borderless threats.

Interesting that Obama said ISIS were not Islamic. What does that actually mean? ISIS forms a state then we bomb the shit out of them. Are we then going to declare that no Muslims were actually injured in the filming of this new warfront? I don't know what Obama actually meant even though I read his words for clarity after listening to his speech. I guess we'll find out after we start launching against them.

Muslims are forbidden to kill other Muslims. So like the unemployed dropping off the rolls and becoming non-citizens, ISIS must be declared non-Muslims so they can be blown to bits. Typical government thinking.

The two congresswomen quoted in this article are stark raving insane.  911 is part of their world, because they live in the bubble know as Washington D.C.

In my neck of the woods there were no public remembrances or displays.  It is forgotten.  Except, of course, for the MSM which few people watch anymore.

I drove down the east coast in late September 2001.  Overpasses were festooned with flags and other items all the way down 95 to D.C.  As soon as I hit Dixie, it ended.  Completely.  Not another display of 911 propaganda.

That was late September, 2001.

What state are you in? I live in South Carolina and every single overpass on my 20 mile journey down the interstate had flags. The overpass at my exit was manned by half a dozen bikers and a mom who lost her son fighting in Iraq. My little town flew flags at half mast and had a little ceremony.

I get what you're trying to say, but I'm not sure we should forget. 911 was the beginning of the end. It's when the political class finally had a pivot point to completely shred our rights willy nilly instead of the piecemeal approach that preceded 9/11. Its what led to the killing of thousands of our soldiers who went to fight a war based on lies by the same politicians we somehow still elect into office over and over again. I spent the morning with a bunch of vets who've been sent home into a "stellar" economy but can't find jobs, plagued with mental trauma, who are killing themselves at an alarming rate. I spent a day earlier in the week getting groped by goons in royal blue shirts and dime-store badges who didn't even find my knife I carry with me every single time I fly.

Was looking at Sept. 11th on my calendar.  It was labeled "Patriot Day".  What a crock of shit.  That's such a mindfuck.  It doesn't make you a patriot to get burned the fuck up and/or crushed in an exploding building.  Maybe they were referring to that "Let's roll" bullshit.  Anyway, made me ill to see that on the calendar.  I scribbled over it heh.

Edit: In response to Doc.

Muslims have been killing other Muslims for centuries because of the various factions. It's like saying "If it wasn't for all the murders, the Middle East would be the most peaceful region in the world". It just struck me as very odd, and still does, that Obama declared that ISIS was not Islamic. I agree that its typical government thinking, but why so obvious now?

Does the general Muslim world agree with Obama? What about Saudi Arabians who are very closely tied to ISIS? Turkey isn't going to help the US. Iran? I don't think so. The UAE - niet. Maybe I'm reading too much into Obamas speech but I found it to be very chilling.

>>not muslim

he is trying to get countries like Turkey involved in the bombings, and doesn't want any negative "this is a new crusade" type gaffs that Bush made in the Iraq wars...  that said, both Sunni and Shiite Muslim scholars have loudly proclaimed that ISIS is not following Islamic teachings, which shouldn't be a surprise given that ISIS is a psy-op created by team zato from the beginning.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/muslim-leaders-worldwide-condemn-isis/5397364

as an additional bonus, this sort of statement from obama sends americans into a state of vertigo, which certainly helps undermine obama further, backing him into a corner (war is the only way out).

This insistence that the middle east is NOT a Muslim war is the biggest gaffe of the last 25 years or more. Insisting it's not a Muslim thing while Sunnis and Shiites splinter off and kill each other, and every foolish enough to get involved,  is the height of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...

Either stay out ( my preference), or pick a side, sunni or shia, and play to win.

Sounds like a lovely multi-cultural LGBT family who also likes to war monger.

Ileana Ros y Adato was born in Havana, Cuba, one of two children born to Enrique Ros, now a Cuban American businessman and anti-Fidel Castro activist, and his wife, Amanda Adato. The family emigrated to the United States when Ileana was seven years old. She received her Bachelor of Arts in education and her Master of Arts in educational leadership from Florida International University. She attended the University of Miami where she earned a Ph.D in higher education.[5]

Ros-Lehtinen was raised Catholic and is now an Episcopalian.[5][6] Ros-Lehtinen's maternal grandparents were Sephardic Jews, originally from the Ottoman Empire, who had been active in Cuba's Jewish community.[7] Her maternal grandfather left the city of K?rklareli for Cuba in 1913, fleeing the devastation and economic collapse caused by the First Balkan War.[8] Her mother later converted to Catholicism to marry her father.[7][9]

Ros-Lehtinen was an educator and the owner/operator of a private school in Miami-Dade County.[10] She was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1982, where she met State Representative Dexter Lehtinen (D-Miami). They married on June 9, 1984, after Dexter switched parties. They both served in the State House until 1986. That year, they were both elected to the Florida Senate, where he was elected to District 40 and she was elected in District 34.[11][12] In 1988, Dexter Lehtinen resigned his seat to become U.S. Attorney of South Florida. In 1989, Ros-Lehtinen resigned her seat to become a U.S. Representative.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has two children, Rodrigo (born Amanda), a transgender LGBT rights activist, and Patricia Marie. She is also step-mother to Katherine and Douglas Lehtinen.

Isn't that her sole purpose in life???? To be a propaganda whore while living off of fees generated from people who are on the public dole?

@ Spastica

Both of these "Republican women" should be arrested for supporting terrorism. Isn't that what we do with people who support terrorists and terrorist organizations? Yet here they are, openly and stupidly and gleefully supporting whatever apparatus you want to call it for causing Americans to live in fear. It is anathema to me that either of them would ever step foot in any politcal gathering again, let alone pretend to "work' for the people. Disgusting.

Honest to God, and I don't take that lightly, if they were both arrested I would begin to believe that all of those supposed safeguards scaffolded around Americans would actually be protectionist and not designed to keep us in line and afraid.

I just want to add that I would probably be classified as a conservative who has not had anyone to vote for in a long time and shed my Republican affiliation the last time I went to vote and found there was absolutely no one I could vote for with a clear conscience.

Let the red arrows rain down, I give not a shit anymore......and, I need a nice cold beer.

The Islamic State have declared war against the infidel, they have declared war against the U.S.

Can you read Congresswoman?

ISIS: The jihadist movement stamped “Made in America”

The fact remains, however, that the US, the major European powers, and their regional allies all previously lent financial, military and political support to ISIS and similar groups, which have “Made in the USA” stamped all over them. They have, until now, played a significant part in Washington’s efforts to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, as part of a broader effort to gain control of the region’s vast energy resources and transit routes.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

We don't have a liberal education system. We have a statist education system, modeled after the Prussian education system. Do your homework next time before you discuss issues you don't fully understand.

Being a liberal doesn't mean you are a progressive, and vice-versa. And there are plenty of so-called conservatives who are nothing but dyed-in-the-wool statists/totatlitarians.

Low IQ Voters are WHY democracy cannot produce sustainable growth, stability, or peace; -no matter how well intentioned that Low IQ Electorate is.

People who advocate direct democracy are only advocating for a government run by grade-school intellect.  There has to be a thresh-hold for franchise or all manner of outrageous ignorant bullshit and unfullfilled childish desires will take precedence over policy governance the entire process will become a schoolyard exorcise in bullying and popularity contests...
