"World War III May Have Already Begun", Pope Francis Warns

Tyler Durden's picture

While we doubt the pope is much of a trader, based on his latest comments, speaking during a visit to Italy's largest military cemetery, where he was commemorating the centenary of World War I and where he said that a "piecemeal" World War III may have already begun, we assume he too would join the confusion of the BIS and every other carbon-based life form, wondering how it is possible that risk assets are at all time highs which the world is not only teetering on the edge of a new global conflict but may have already in fact entered it. Oh wait, the central banks, never mind.

But back to the pope. From BBC:

A "piecemeal" World War III may have already begun with the current spate of crimes, massacres and destruction, Pope Francis has warned.

"War is madness," the Pope said at a memorial to 100,000 Italian soldiers at Redipuglia cemetery near Slovenia. The Argentine Pope has often condemned the idea of war in God's name.

Only last month, Pope Francis said the international community would be justified in using force to stop what he called "unjust aggression" by Islamic State militants, who have killed or displaced thousands of people in Iraq and Syria, including many Christians, the BBC's David Willey reports.

In Saturday's homily, standing at the altar beneath Italy's fascist-era Redipuglia memorial - where 100,000 Italian soldiers killed during WWI are buried, 60,000 of them unnamed, the Pope paid tribute to the victims of all wars.

"Humanity needs to weep, and this is the time to weep," he said. "Even today, after the second failure of another world war, perhaps one can speak of a third war, one fought piecemeal, with crimes, massacres, destruction," he said.

And don't forget S&P500 at all time highs. Because the New Normal, where apparently world war news is the best imaginable news for risk assets.

But while the Pope may be pacifism personified, his grandfather is quote familiar with the concept of world war: he fought in - and survived - Italy's offensive against the Austro-Hungarian empire, in north-east Italy in 1917 and 1918.

That said, we now fully expect futures to open limit up because there is nothing more bullsh for central bank intervention that the world waking up one morning with mushroom clouds all over the place. Just think of all the printing...

Hey the BIS coordinates global rig of gold prices leading to the current asset bubble.

Rational? OK here's rational...

The Federal Reserve was not created by bankers to maintain a dual mandate of low inflation and unemployment.

The Bible was written and rewritten over centuries as a politcal document to make a claim over the lands of Israel by the priests of the anthropomorphic Jerusalem temple god Yahweh (yes he actually lived in the temple) in Judah which is why the Jews lamented their Babylonian exile so much where the first 5 books of the Bible (Torah) were written.

(BTW... the Canaanite top god was El he was ethereal and they ended up combining the two...)

The world is not 5,000 years old, there were also no 1,000 year old men or people who lived in whales, raised the dead or walked on water and definitely no Easter Bunny. Sorry.

There are lots of good historical documentaries supported by contemporary writings of the Babylonians, Persians, Egyptians and Assyrians and of the course the ever present archeology to verify the entire book is a scam up to and including the Glorious Kingdom of David and Solomon that never existed

Ok dickwad. Define yourself. Tell me what you are. Be honest about yourself first, then judge others. You're likely just as screwed up as everyone else on this planet, because lets face it life sucks.

Some people may want that outlet to prevent themselves from becoming violently insane. It's the same argument as the drug argument, and the open relationship argument. They are all the same argument. People NEED an outlet and a distraction as a form of escape from reality. That is how they cope. Every single one of us does it, that you are posting on this site in the first place is clear evidence that YOU TOO are using a form of escapism. If they are not being violent, why are you trying to coerce them to be angry at you or adopt YOUR position?

There may be an om in moment
But there's very few folk in focus
Not the first, not the last, not the least.
You needn't be well to be wealthy
But you've got to be whole to be holy!
Fetch the rope, fetch the clock, fetch the priest.

Oh this planet of ours is a mess
I bet Heaven's the same.
Look the madman said, "Son,
As a friend, tell me what's in a name?"
Hallowed be thy name.

I give you the state of statesmen
And the key to what motivates them-
On the left, on the right, on the nail.
Still I don't see a man in a mansion
That an accurate pen won't puncture;
Go to town, go to hell, go to jail.
And there's bars and saloons
Where the jukebox plays blues in the night.
Till the madman says "Son,
Time to go we could both use some light."
And there will be light!

We live in an age of cages
The tale of an ape escaping
In the search for some truth he can use!
But many a drunk got drunker
And mostly a thinker, thunker
Set the place, set the time, set the fuse!
The optimist laughed and the pessimist cried in his wine
And the madman said "Son,
Take a word they'll all wake given time!"
Let thy kingdom come!

The madman and I got drunker
Told both to the other thank you,
And we laughed all the way to the stars
The optimist asked for a taste of the pessimist's wine
And the madman said "Son,
How do you feel?" I said "Me? I feel fine;
Let thy kingdom come!"
Lead me into temptation
Into temptation
I said into temptation
I need my allocation...of recreation
I want a revelation...in degradation
No hesitation, give me variation, give me inspiration...

Then I will say I have nothing to loose to belive that there is a creator (God) and so if I live my life by doing no harm then one day when I die maybe I will go to the light and not be taken by a demon to live an eternety with a bunch of phycos. @Zer0head:

1) How do you know what proof of the existence of God would look like? Are you really trying to tell us the human mind is capable of apprehending such a thing? Do you occupy some privileged external vantage point from where you can look upon the human mind and determine it has the scope and reliability to conclude there is no proof for the existence of God? For all you know that tree outside the window could be proof of the existence of God. To say otherwise is to haughtily assume human cognition has a universal jurisdiction and is calibrated  properly to answer such questions in the negative. Of course neither you nor anyone else knows how far the scope and reliability of human cognition extend. Does human cognition have the scope and reliability of a CCTV camera, or a microscope? Who decides, and what is their privileged vantage point, from where they can look upon human cognition as impartial outsiders? Only a manufacturer or operator can tell us the lens on a microscope or CCTV camera is calibrated properly. We can trust human cognition to return a reliable account of reality because we believe we are made in the image and likeness of God. Faith allows us to trust reason. You on the other hand have no grounds whatsoever for believing a human cognition that is an accidental by-product of blind materialist processes is a reliable instrument through which reality is filtered.

So, without God, who or what is your external reference point upon which you base your assumption human cognition has the scope to decide we have no proof of God's existence? For all you know human cognition could have the scope and reliability of a badly calibrated microscope, with its blurred lens returning false results every single time. For all you know the boundaries of reality might extend far beyond what human cognition will ever apprehend. Does the microscope see what the telescope sees? Does the telescope see what the CCTV sees? Until you can assure us human cognition has the scope and reliability of CCTV, microscope and telescope all rolled into one we do not need to stand here and listen to your ridiculous assertion that there is no proof of the existence of God. There is no proof that human cognition is equipped to recognise proof of God's existence, and that's the first hurdle you need to cross.

2) Why do you assume God is a being who would lend himself to human scrutiny, were he to exist? To define God as a being who would provide proof of his existence were he to exist is to define God and thus to assert his existence. You haven't really thought this through, have you?

3) Finally, if you believe proof of the existence, truth or reality of a thing is the only way of knowing something is true then please provide proof to support the following statement:

"A thing is real or true if and only if it can be proven."

Go ahead and take this statement into the lab and prove it. You can't, can you? What that means, of course, is that you fall rather embarrassingly at the first hurdle. You believe proof is the only way of knowing a thing is real or true but you can't prove that very proposition. Your fundamental standpoint is thus a metaphysical standpoint despite you arrogantly dismissing the possibility of metaphysics. Of course, if you can't prove it then by your own criterion the statement is false. Which means something can be real or true even if it can't be proven. God, for example.

He's all-powerful and wants us to worship him right?

1) How do you know what proof of the existence of God would look like?

If he wants all us to know of him how difficult for him could it be? Too busy to visit? How about a 100,000 foot high pillar of some indestructable clearly engineered material with writings in all languages past and present. That would do it.

2) Why do you assume God is a being who would lend himself to human scrutiny, were he to exist? To define God as a being who would provide proof of his existence were he to exist is to define God and thus to assert his existence.

Uhhh... the good book itself say he's a jealous God and wants to be worshipped before all other Gods even. Sacrifices etc etc... Kinda hard for us to do if we don't know he even exists right?

3) Finally, if you believe proof of the existence, truth or reality of a thing is the only way of knowing something is true then please provide proof to support the following statement:

"A thing is real or true if and only if it can be proven."

I'm just telling you that there is no proof for the REAL existence of an anthropomorphic god of the Christians, Jews and Muslims as described in the Bible. Nor Hindu monkey gods. Just sayin'...

Please provide me with some next time OK?

Wed, 09/17/2014 - 09:37 | 5224663 gezley
gezley's picture

But you haven't addressed my questions. We can't provide proof of the existence of God unless we know the human mind is capable of apprehending that proof and recognising it as such. Do you actually understand this? Let me put it this way: the human mind is a microscope, and God is a basketball. How is the microscope ever going to see the basketball, given the basketball doesn't fit under its lens, and never will fit under its lens? And if the basketball doesn't fit, by your criterion it simply doesn't exist?

Wow! What a facetious, infantile argument you have there!

Now you can argue that the human mind is wider in scope than a microscope but to do that you have to look upon the human mind -- its scope, powers and reliability -- as an outsider standing at a privileged vantage point, otherwise all you are doing is telling me what the human mind is capable of by ... wait for it ... using your own mind to assess its powers.

Some scientific credibility there then, eh?

Does the microscope calibrate itself? No it doesn't. Only the manufacturer or operator can tell us the microscope's readings are correct. Only the manufacturer can tell us the microscope does not have the scope to survey the whole lab. Only the manufacturer can tell us there's a basketball on the bench, which the microscope can't see because it is completely outside the range of the microscope. In the same way only God can know the full extent and nature of reality. Only God can be the basis of our assurance that the human mind really is the trustworthy instrument we hope it is, with the scope and reliability to filter and process our understanding of reality to the extent God permits. Without God you are left with a human cognition that is nothing more than an accidental by-product of blind material processes, acting without purpose. Would anybody really trust an instrument that was accidentally put together like that to tell us there is no God?

Nor do we need to provide proof of the existence of God until it has been clearly established that God is a being who provides evidence of his existence to human observers. Who is going t establish that, then? That's a bit of a trap for you, isn't it? To say God would provide proof of his existence if he really existed is to define what God is or would be like, and by defining God you are thereby asserting his existence. I can easily define God as a transcendent being who does not and never will lend himself to human scrutiny, a being entirely beyond the scope of human understanding. Feel free to define God otherwise but by doing so you are giving me a definition of God and thus asserting his existence. The very thing you were trying to avoid. Hilarious.

I will gladly provide proof of the existence of God as soon as you establish to the satisfaction of all here that "providing proof of his existence" is one of the attributes of God. Don't worry; I'll wait.

Another thing: the God of Christianity is known in the historical person of Jesus Christ, and in no other way. "No one can come to the Father except through me", said Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ. What that means is that for Christians (Catholics and Orthodox; I don't include the thousands of wishy-washy Protestant denominations under that umbrella), God can only be known in his son, who lived on this earth 2000 years ago. The existence of the God of Christianity is thus a historical question, for historians and theologians to debate. It boils down to this: did Jesus of Nazareth exist; did he work signs as proofs of his divinity; and did he rise from the dead, as he said he would? These are not scientific questions; they are historical questions. The question of the existence of the God of Christianity therefore comes under the jurisdiction of history, not what you might call science. And while you might quibble about the reliability of the historical accounts, in doing so you are making a historical judgement yourself, based on your own personal bias and little else.

Concur with Nid.

And to think I actually had some respect for FourChan until about 2 minutes ago.

Used to have my doubts about the truth of Christianity. Further study led me to the conclusion that (to paraphrase C.S. Lewis) either Jesus of Nazareth was who He said He was, or He was a madman or worse. Given His remarkable teachings, it's impossible to conclude the latter. Those who attack Christianity with over-the-top invective say more about themselves than they do about their topic.

Jesus was by all means a good guy and throwing the money changers out of the temple was an act of greatness indeed. In fact, his actions and opinions differ so much from those of the "psychotic" god described in the old testament, that I cannot possibly see how he could be gods being of earth or the son of the god from the OT. And why then embrace a religion which patriarchy for so long has abused and misinterpreted Jesus words, I don't see your reasoning.

--- because it takes very little wisdom to see through the abuse and the misrepresentation to arrive at the truth.

Furthermore, fixating on "abuse and misrepresentation" of the message of Christ as delivered in the New Testament while ignoring the beauty of it is the highest example of "throwing the baby out with the bathwater." The civilization inspired by Christ - that would be Western Civilization - became, in a relatively short period of time, a beacon unto the rest of the world. We have the sonnets of Shakespeare, the paintings of Michaelangelo, the symphonies of Beethoven and Bach, beautiful cathedrials and castles - works of art themselves - that owing to their sound construction will stand for thousands of years, highly organized agricultural practices that make the West the breadbasket of the world, shoes, electricity, the single-breasted suit, running water, moon rocks, etc. to show for it. The spirit of adventurism and entrepreneurship, which separates Christians to a degree from the rest of the world has created this vibrant culture (which of course has been under heavy attack since the poorly named Enlightenment, but I digress).

Jesus' casting out of the moneychangers from the synagogue was an archetypical action for him. What the Old Testament Literalists fail to understand (other than the fact that the Earth is older than 6000 years) is that the life of Christ serves as a CORRECTION of some of the Old Testament teachings. Jesus was revolutionary, in a divine way. (This is why they killed him.) The Old Testament should be viewed through the lens of the New.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

yeah now that is really a more legitimate worry - if someone hits a facility there in Ukraine that's going straight at EU basically and across the whole northern H, this will be when we can really say "we failed" at everything, this is 100s of % more likely than a shooting war, because after its starts pissing out Rads all across the EU everyone is going to change their perspective.

it will be in the middle of a war zone and there will be all sorts of delays, this woudl change the world, and we can say "we finally fucked it up" "We are monkeys" then we can mostly die in the resulting slow destruction.

One day, the tiny remnant of what was once known as the Church will follow the order of God delivered through our Blessed Mother, and will save the world - for a while.

Context

Having just shown the fate of the damned (in the first part of the Secret of Fatima) to the three shepherd children of Fatima, on July 13, 1917, Our Lady then confided to them the second part of the Secret. This second part primarily concerns Heaven's requests for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the Communions of Reparation on theFirst Saturdays and the consequences of failing to heed these requests. As recorded in Sister Lucy?s memoirs, the second part of the Secret is as follows:

Text of Second Part of Secret

To save them [poor sinners who are on the road to hell], God wishes to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse war will break out during the reign of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions against the Church and against the Holy Father.

To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. If My requests are heeded, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated.1

Conclusion to the Whole Secret of Fatima

In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.

100kt-800kt.  Russia's nuclear arsenal looks a lot different than the old Soviet arsenal.  No more 20Mt warheads on SS18s these days.  It's down to smaller warheads with much better accuracy.  A lot of the stuff in their SLBMs is 550kt and one of their primary non-MIRVd missiles has a single 800kt warhead.  They also have several other options, MIRVd and not.  Once you get to a certain point, doubling the yield does not double the damage done, but it does cost a lot more to build and maintain.

Yes, and the Church of Rome will be just as useful/useless*, as they were in WW1 and WW2.

Popes and the Church do NOT have the balls to speak in full, unvarnished candor against TPTB.  Same as it ever was.

They were totally useful to Fascists and Nazis, and totally useless to their victims.  And you Kool-Aid-drinking "US Catholics", who know FUCK ALL from first-hand knowledge, let me assure you: I KNOW what I speak of... my Family, and our town experienced it first hand.  Save your BS-Burgers and Kool-Aid drinks for some other morons.

p.s.  Check your histogram of demographics of Nazi and Fascist victims:  Out of the total of ~ 40M people who died in WW2, 6M were Jews, and 34M Christians. Of the Christians, ~ 2M were Protestants, and the rest were either Orthodox (mostly Russian), or Roman Catholic.  IOW, ~ 14M Russian Christians died and ~ 8-10M Catholics.

So, Pope, talk to us about the CATHOLIC HOLOCAUST, "Francis of A Sissy" (play-on-words intended).  And you sanctimonious Yids in Hollywood and Madison Ave, when are we going to get thousands of movies, shows, etc, etc about the Christians killing Christians for the last 100 years (1914-2014)?  Or is it ALWAYS just about woe-is-you?

We all get that "killing is bad".  But... which is worse: Killing your own kind (Christians killing Christians, or Muslims killing Muslims) or killing another kind?  Gee, let me think!

Amazing how obsessed they have been with the six Million number since the Old Testament. I find it also very educational to read the old articles in the Jewish controlled "free press".

For example the article in The day book Oct., 20th, 1913 denigrating a trial in Russia against a Jew, because of alleged ritual murder. As if the Jews in the USA could know, what this person had or had not done. The old articles, because of the distance and long before Hitler and his movement could be demonized, shows very well the tactics they have been using in their media since.

Enlightening also The day book article from April 13th, 1917, soon after the Bolshevist terror in Russia was established:

Now that the gates of freedom have opened in Russia,, the Jews .whom czarism drove into exile will return to their native land to spread the freedom they learned in the United States.

No, he did not. The Pope never said we were justified to use force. This is jus another example if how the MSM twists what he actually says to fit their agenda.

Here is what the Pope actually said:

"Thanks for such a clear question. In these cases where there is an unjust aggression, I can only say this: it is licit to stop the unjust aggressor. I underline the verb: stop. I do not say bomb, make war, I say stop by some means. With what means can they be stopped? These have to be evaluated. To stop the unjust aggressor is licit."

No, it just prooves the pope is a hypocrite.

The fact that the bible was written by people who didn't know where the sun is at night, and that people today still believe in these stories, says nothing about the existence of god. It's easily possible that god or gods(!) exist, but not in the primitive form the three desert religions portray them.

Human species could be the product of extraterrestrials. Or our planet is just a reality-show for the gods.

But to conclude that a hypocrite in the Vatican was proove that god does not exist is not different from the same "logic" of people who believe that the human species was something special and therefore has the right to kosher butchering of animals or treating them like things.

I certainly sympathize with the sincere people who look at religion and want to puke for all the hypocrisy and bloodshed religion is responsible for down though the milleniums right up until today.

Sincere people aren't merely looking for a way to explain God away so they can live whatever kind of lives they want without any guilt and without any responsibility to a higher power.

Christendom is the opposite of Christianity. The pope is nothing more than the leader of a religious mafia that masquerades as something "holy" but inside is full of filth, hypocrisy and lies. The same goes for all the rest of Christendom, including the so-called "Protestants", and also for Islam, for the eastern religions and the like.

This doesn't mean there aren't sincere people in these religions - there are. But they are a minority.

When people tar-and-feather God and the Bible with one swift stroke because the world's religions are so hypocritical, that's when I have to object. The Bible itself condemns such religious hypocrisy - see Matthew chapter 23 for but one example.

In time, not in the distant future I would say, this is all going to be greatly clarified, because God will execute his unfavorable judgment on all those who claim to represent him while hypocritically proving false to eveything he stands for.

Sorry for the sermon - I'm done. I just had to push back on those using religion to justify their own pet atheistic ideologies.

Im here to say there is a God.

I have grace, that is also known as faith.

How do I know it? I feel it in my heart, its truth...THE TRUTH, the end of the end of the end.

That which can not be changed, truth.

Its a gift and it makes me very joyful. :)

Yeah, this is an example of why thinking people are turned off by so many "religious" people. You can feel anything in your heart - that means next to nothing.

And the drivel luckystars spews is nearly identical to that spewed by someone who is in a drunken stupor or stoned out of his mind on drugs. It only would appeal to other religious 'stoners'. It is devoid of any answers - except the "answer" that consists of putting yourself in a stupor and thus taking your mind out-of-gear.

No thanks.

I genuinely, and scientifically, believe that the human brain is the product of awesome design. Now, if that is true, then why would the Designer and Creator of the human brain want us to turn it to mush and become so much non-reasoning Eloi?

I would feel sorry for you too, but I don't.

I just reject everything you say.

And let's not forget that this Pope is well-documented as having been a willing, some say enthusiastic collaborator with the Argentine military in their war against "the disappeared ones". I wouldn't be surprised if he played a part in the kidnapping of infants from their slaughtered mothers' wombs on behalf of his military buddies - probably got the scenario from the Archdiocese of Ireland and their convent laundries.

The "the disappeared ones" were socialist parasites and deserved to get disappeared. I wish the same process in the USA and Europe.

He looks so nice in White and wonder who does his laundry.   However , He would look slimmer in Black but more somber.  Tough decisions for an announcement on WWIII.  Glad He was not wearing those silly heavy gold laden  crowns used for formal occassions more important than World War

Thankfully I was born in the era when the catholic cultists' reign of terror is long over - the catholic cultists' were just as cruel, brutal, ruthless, savage, murderous, toturing and persecuting as the taliban today. The catholic cultists temple in Rome is built of blood.

They're still around. They're just being more, discrete, this time.

Fortunately the catholic cultists are far less powerful today, eg they have no armies, no dungeons, no torture chambers, just hordes of brain-damaged droid followers.

Zerohedge the gold worshiping God haters club.

I think you are angry because Marc Faber and Jimmy Sinclair told you to buy gold.

They said "This is it!"  one too many times.

You think if their really were a God you would buy most of downtown Berlin with your stupid little coins.

ahaahahaha............You are good for a laugh though.

VAT has been waging a WORLD WIDE WAR against Children - through their Paedophile Clergy and Laity, backed by those who condoned them since the directive is to Cover it Up, move the Perpetrator to another Location, and keep it out of the hands of Law Enforcement.

The VAT was also listed by GOVT_USA as a Money Laundering Concern.  We ALL know that they condone the Illegal Immigration / Anchor Baby Racket here in the USA - which adds fuel to the fire for Human/Labor/Sex Slave Trafficking... It's a wonder how a few "Hail Marys" would allow for so much evil to run loose in our societies.

They're right in the midst of this World Wide Racket - AND they host 6 of 9 Seats of the SCOTUS while holding 25% of the Population.  The other 3? Jewish.   (Using recent Census Stats, roughly, 68-72% of Ideologies/Religious/Worldviews - including the 50% held by Protestants - are not represented.)

Time to Prosecute the Pope and his Cadre of Clergy.
