Over 1000 US, NATO Troops Begin Military Exercises In Ukraine

Tyler Durden's picture

Russia could care less whether Ukraine signs meaningless accession agreements with Europe (as it just did) because at the end of the day, Ukraine needs Russia's gas (if only for the next 4-6 years until Hunter Biden develops Ukraine's shale deposits and the Qatar gas pipeline finally crosses Syria). Russia, however, is very angry when NATO gets ever closer to its borders, which it just did when earlier today, more than 1,000 troops from 15 NATO and non-NATO countries, including the US of course, are taking part in a military exercise in Ukraine.

The good news: The “Rapid Trident” exercise is happening near Lviv on the Polish-Ukrainian border, around 1,000 miles from the conflict in east Ukraine.

The bad news: 1,000 miles will hardly be considered enough by the Kremlin which will see this latest incursion by NATO ever closer to its border as another direct threat and a hint of what will happen if Ukraine is allowed to progress on its path of demanding entry into the military alliance.

From EuroNews:

Ukrainian army colonel, Oleksandr Syvak, said: “This year’s military exercise will concentrate on the particular aspects of the undeclared or “hybrid” war, which is happening in the east of Ukraine. This will be be taken into consideration during the military drill. The Ukrainian militaries will also share their experiences gained during the anti-terrorist operation”

Moscow has previously condemned what it calls NATO’s expansion in eastern Europe close to Russia’s borders.

In August, Ukraine’s prime minister said he would ask parliament to put the country on a path towards NATO membership.

At the weekend, the Ukrainian Defence Minister admitted NATO countries had begun arming his nation in the fight against the rebels – something NATO members had previously denied.

Euronews correspondent Mykhaylo Dubyak in Ukraine says: “In the Rapid Trident exercises, NATO and Ukrainian troops will train in how to react to an ambush and convoy operations, amongst other things. It will raise the combat capability of the Ukrainian army and may be used in operations in Donbas.”

Well, at least nobody is even hiding any more that NATO is both implicitly and explicitly involved in the Ukraine war, which has now surpassed simple proxy status and is in effect one between Russia and the West, quite directly.

And now we await as the Kremlin reveals yet another, massive "surprise" military drill just off the Ukraine border to make it quite clear how all this will end unless the warmongering puppetmasters operating behind the scenes are put in their place.

In the meantime Hunter Biden and his outfit would be fair game for mortar attack and destruction of the facilities . It's an economic war . No ?

The simple fact is that RUSSIA and the US were the lead organizers of this exercise, with Russia pulling out of the exercise only in February.

If it is so offensive, why did they organize it?

Honesty cannot be promoted by means of lies.  Fairness cannot be promoted by privilege.

Yesterday's information cannot be honestly or fairly dumped into the memory hole simply because it conflicts with today's political meme.

At the end of the day, blind loyalty is simply blind.

All politicians are criminals.  Not just the US ones.  It is part of the job description.

Russia's number one foreign policy goal was to avoid being isolated from Europe and put in the roles of Enemy and Designated Victim. Putin's efforts to play Good Partner to Europe and NATO were always worrisome, but probably bought Russia some urgently-needed time.

Now that the charade is over, there's no need bashing Russia for it. They were playing for their survival from a position of weakness, and did what they thought they had to do.

It's a good thing most of the WWII generation is gone and won't see the repulsive sight of the u.s army maneuvering with forces of a nazi government. Makes the entire war they fought useless and embarrassing.

Huh!! NATO arming the Ukraine army??

This is good reason for Russia to impose sanctions on those NATO countries. I trust Putin is taking note.

Worthless, dumb fuck american soldiers perpetuating the war cycle.

Here's an idea fellas (and lesbian women), mutiny and kill all of your commanding officers. Stop off in Kiev and hang Hunter Biden, then fly to Washington and start taking your nation back by force. That would be defending peace throughout the world.

But that won't happen because you've all been brainwashed (which isn't that hard considering most of you have the IQ of a slow-witted house fly) into thinking you are the world's police force.

It was not Putin that shipped out the Ukrainian gold reserves in the midnight hour.

Open any history book and it will clearly state that Russia loves their ice-free ports.

I am very suspicious of how this war commenced exactly right after the Sochi

Olympics .

This shows how the commercial media interests directly influence the timing of

events.

The West Ukrainians are broke, the conscripts are demoralized, and this war would

have ended months ago were it not for western financial aid (bribes).Fortunately

the German gov't seems to be waking up to the fact that they will be dropped right in it.

A good start would be to bar all staff positions to individuals holding two passports.

Winter is around the corner...

OK - I give up. US is bound and detremined to have at least two major wars and a host of minor bombings on defensless targets. We may bleat and plead but it's a done deal.

So now , reluctantly, my only hope is to preserve or make some money on it like the entire MIC.  Any ideas?

North Atlantic Terror Organization once again breaks all agreements and expands aggressively and provokes, but ofcourse this is not an aggression. The aggression comes from Russia from being so fearful of the peacebringers of the world!

Interestingly today the Eastern Ukrainian provinces received a special status. Is (again) EUSrael working hard to escalate, while the sane forces in Ukraine are trying to deesacalate?

During the cold war US and USSR periodically sent recon brigades to eachothers' borders. According to declassified documents between 100 and 200 people were killed on both sides, yet none of the deaths were publicised at the time to avoid wider conflict. The game was: "If you're caught, it's your fault. We'll pretend we didn't eliminate what you pretend you didn't send".

In Ukraine, I think, if any of the foreign troops are murdered it'll fall on deaf ear. Russia will report casualtires (as it is doing already with Polish mercs), but none of it will reach Western media. If Russians are killed by NATO troops... or even if Ukrainians are killed, it'll probably be presented as a successful anti-invasion operation. Dead bodies will be sprinkled with photoshopped passports like ghetto kids with crack during police raids.
