Indeed, and they seem not to have gone extinct back during the Holocene maximum, when there was no sea ice at all for much of the year for nearly 2,000 years.
They even survived the prior Eemian Interglacial 120,000 years ago which was much warmer than the recent Holocene maximum.

As we sit here in the 5th intrglacial after the one 400KYA, i see a potential/likely AGW induced spike in the trend where instead of declining, we are headed to a new(ish), higher order of magnitude and perhaps the LONGEST interglacial of the last 800,000 years!

A hunter I met in Pond Inlet, Nunavut in 2010 said there were more polar bears now than there ever was.
Only Certified Scientists, and Accredited Media, are able to count polar bears reliably.
Simple people who are "on the scene" can easily be misled by a varity of factors that only Scientists and Accredited Media can fully understand.
