I lived in the Anchorage area most of my life (as recently as 3 years ago), and some years back while in college I had to deliver pizzas to the 'bad areas' (Mountain View, Fairview, and certain areas of Midtown and Spenard). They aren't places I want to live and I wouldn't call them safe areas, but to say they are absolute 'no go' areas is bullshit. You keep your car doors locked and pay attention to your surroundings, that simple. I had a lot of gripes about Anchorage and some of the crime there, but to compare it to Detroit is simply absurd. There are areas here in Denver and Aurora CO I see that are sketchier than Anchorage's bad areas, and even these aren't strictly 'no go' areas. The one thing you had right was stating that KTVA is in Anchorage (it's the CBS affiliate).
Now aside from all that.... while I do agree the journalist for her own sake could have been more professional, deep down I always enjoyed that occasional lack of polish and abundance of goofs and screw-up moments that typically make up the Alaska TV news scene. It kind of has that 'train wreck' appeal, which was one of the only reasons to ever bother watching it.
