#OccupyAndOrFloodWallStreetForClimateChange Takes On NYSE TV Studio - Live Feed
It has been several years since the disjointed, confused, and extremely disorganized Occupy Wall Street movement made any headlines. Alas, in the interim, the career prospects of those who comprise its up prime age demographic have gone nowhere but down while inversely impacting the nominal free time of said cohort, which is why we were somewhat surprised it took as long as it did for the same individuals, best known for camping out in Zucotti Park (until it started snowing of course), to stage a daring comeback. Which they did today, following a weekend in which New York City was overrun with "The People's Climate March", protesting against climate change by... leaving behind them tons of non-biodegradable garbage.
It is this same group that has once again made its way all the way down into the Financial district, and specifically in front of the TV studio formerly known as the NYSE.
But while we understand the frustration of America's youth (although by the looks of thing the prevailing protesters have a median age well in the 30s) with life in America as a Millennial (or Gen Yer, or Gen Xer) as nothing continues to change in the country, we are a little confused: after all by now everyone should know that the "New York" Stock Exchange is located in Mahwah, New Jersey, and that all the servers that host HFT algos - the key market player in the New Normal - are EnergyStar compliant.
Which is why we hope that the young men and women in the live webcast below can explain to us: just what is it they are protesting?

lots of people think that their own generation was the best, and/or that generation after them is bad.
Ever Read up on Generational Theory. I'm not on board all the way with it. But you can find a couple of videos by Strauss & Howe and they seem like smart guys.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strauss%E2%80%93Howe_generational_theory
The gist is post war was a high and that generation worked together and felt the government was good, but they didn't keep their eye on the government... so we ended up with a bad government. Mangled the theory.
Anyway there are 4 generations that repeated in USA for like 200 years. The next generation seems to be the Question Authority type I think. Anyway we might be in the Rebel Generation that Tears down the Government and Rebuilds it.
Well that's pretty depressing...
the guy holding the sign has a valid point
End Statism.
Save the Planet.
Those damn domestic terrorists! Where are Dick Holder and the DHS and why are they not arresting these people?
Just do whatever it takes. I want to see fucking Dimon's and Blankfein's heads on spikes. Don't care who starts the party. Just don't take any prisoners unless you put a court up to expose them and condemn the fuckers for their crimes and only to impale them afterwards anyway.
Nothing will change unless the entire crop gets terminated and their breed extinguished.
There was once a time in France where the rich Aristocrats partied every day like it was 1999....
Interestingly some of the best things to call the Greedy banksters are things that have been used to call hippies, Gen-Xers, or Gen-Y.

We are going to hold this area for 40 MINUTES!
At least they have commitment. :-)
now all they need is an education, never gonna happen?
And what do these climate protestors actually WANT?
Simple. They are demanding governments impose more rules, edicts, diktats and lower standards of living on all of us, so as to address The Great Climate Bogey!
Same game as ever: lobby for control of the government gun.
Once again, the Controlled Opposition gets a week out of the Institute. Good luck.
Let me know when we see ZH slogans start appearing -- to direct the Argument into the right direction, i.e. the Ladder is leaning against the right Wall, rather than the Talking Heads going on about that "beautiful ladder" -- that happens to be against the wrong Wall.
These progressive shitbird protests make Tea party protests look like a night at the Apollo. ; )
Funny, the environmental movement has been the purview of the neocommunists since the 1970's, and yet the worst, the very worst environmental records lie within the former communist nations. The air, water, and air within the US is dramatically improved over the 1970's.
yes, and falconfllight - do we know why? because we shipped all the pollution offshore along with the manufacturing. they go hand in hand. nothing else did we do.
Arrest Jamie Dimon and Loyd Blankfein.
Great article.
Stunning. People rallying about the weather. Climate is weather. No one rallies about the FED and FEDGOV assraping people.
Not much hope if one looks at the sheeple for common sense. They should protest the Sun.
To the clown holding the sign "end capitalism"....go jump off a bridge. I haven't seen capitalism in these parts for years and years.

True, just using Long Island Sound as an example, it is cleaner now by a very large measure than it was 40+ years ago!
So many today, especially the young actually believe that the environment is poisoned, nearly uninhabitable. They are gov't schooled, indoctrinated fools. There is no comparison in the level of pollution between 2014 and 1974. The EPA and the Sierra Club are now dangerous destroyers of freedom and opportunity.

AchtungAffen:Hmm... maybe the US taking action on carbon reduction as in stop sabotaging a global mandatory accord on this issue?
Kinda like how King O is doing everything in his power to shut down the domestic coal industry while giving China a free pass?
Is that what you mean?
Amen. Why wont anyone cover that story.... China has the money now to put in scrubbers etc.
Organized and funded by pro carbon tax proponents in order to start a new money sucking scam. Cough, Al, cough, Gore, cough cough.
they, whoever they are, will protest global warming,
whatever that is, but have no gripe with murder for
hire from the skies and fraud at the heart of their
finance, social relations and money system. go figure,
geniuses. must be the bad weed or something? flouride,
public and private education, the family unit, the media,
vaccines, social clubs, the pop music? something is
messed up, the language itself maybe?
Great! Now I'll be expecting a call from my leasing company that the tenants are complaining about the noise again.
Last time the call was complaining about the helicopters. I told the leasing company to tell the tenants to stop complaining about people exercising their rights. And unless Occupy had suddenly purchased a helicopter and was flying it overheard to quit whining and call the NYPD to file their complaint.
I'm more than 10,000 km away and more supportive of Americans exercising their Constitutional rights than their own citizens.
Kinda agree with last dude since climare change us considered an wxrernality and thus irrevent in capitalism. Likewise clean air and water.
Sure we cant go back to mud huts but its worth talking about.
Hiwever since it involves long term planning beyong next quarter end...
Nice hack job by NY Post. Well done lads.
Americans just don't have the remotest idea on how to be left-wing, do they? Utterly hopeless bunch. Now, they're protesting against the frigging weather! What's it going to be tomorrow, women's rights to play American football dressed as playboy bunnies? Men's rights to wear ballet tutus and paper windmill hats on their workplace?
"Men's rights to wear ballet tutus and paper windmill hats on their workplace?"
You guys don't do that where YOU work? What oppression!
we are here today to puts pressures on are leaderors to makes 2014 georgia guidestoned days so the planets can survives un alls.

we demand obarmas take more tax monies to save the depleted urani umed and fuckishimad environments
from globul warmins and climat changins
nobody doin more for human species than al gores and pub rocker bonio from u2s
Kook-a-thon
Well, Wall Street is the home of the Greenback movement...
Save capitalism. End the World Bank.
The amount of shit per human expelled into the environment is only one factor in the pollution equation, but the most important factor is the total number of humans, and if the total number of humans is not greatly reduced then the amount of shit per human will always be overwhelmed by the total number of humans. Greatly reduce the grotesquely excessive human population and many, many other problems will also be reduced & fixed.
Outlaw carbon, that six-electron element is obviously a Jewish plot.
Protesting climate change is like protesting the sun setting. Protesting pollution and the corruption that allows the corporations and governments to pollute is another thing.....

Jerks who have done nothing much else than count their money and look at their image in the mirror since 911 is how I would describe those who posted on this thread. Throwing daggers at the kids who were in diapers when the act of war took place is typical of vain men who spend a good deal of the time jerking off just thinking about themselves and how wonderful they are in their mother's eyes. And make no mistake, they (these wheeling-dealing mommy's boys) are why the world is the way it is...the fell right into place, grabbing the money...and now, it's over and they blame the kids...we don't stand a chance when the men point fingers.
You have failed us. YOU HAVE FAILED US ZH members - go count your money and leave the revolution to us. Pussies belong under the blankets. But yes, you can still hold you mom's hand.
OWS turned up and asked - and got their asses kicked
Greenies turned up and demanded - and got their asses kicked
Next time is turn up and kick ass first.
I'm not sure wheter the cops or the protesters evoke more disdain.
#OccupyOliveGarden
Some more old hippies join the march! I say, "To the guillotine with them!"

Ummm, John D. ROCKEFELLER founded Standard Oil.
uhm true....something fishy
Protest capitalism and climate change and they send the riot police on you. Destroy the world economy and you get a bail out plus fat bonuses.
The angst of being 30+ and living in your parent's basement is the fuel for this protest.
The author is correct that the "real" NYSE resides where the HFT server farms reside, but is wrong on several other facts.
1. Occupy did not leave their Wall Street occupation because it started to snow. They were forcibly removed by the oligarch Bloomberg and his right hand henchman Ray Kelly, who just happened to be a former Senior Managing Director for Corporate Security at Bear Stearns. These thugs knew what they were doing was controversial at the least, so they had their private army, the NYPD launch a stealth raid on the Occupy encampment in the middle of the night. They first went in and cleared all journalists and media from the area and made them retreat blocks away from the park. So much for freedom of the press here in the "land of the free". They then closed the airspace to media helicopters to prevent any coverage of their actions. Just like the Gestapo they also "visited" all apartments that overlooked the park and "warned" the residents not to film their actions or they would know where the recording came from and would be back for a friendly visit.
2. While the rest of the sheep in the country are trapped in their Celebrity Worshipping/Reality TV/NFL Gladiator Games matrix, these protestors are trying to educate the masses that their illusion that the real power resides in Washington DC is false, and that the real power resides with the multinationals and financial elites. If you want to bring about change, you do not confront the puppets, you confront the puppetmasters.
3. These people also recognize that having hundreds of thousands march against policies that bring climate change is no longer effective. Our government has been sold to the highest bidder, and these marches are nothing more than a "nuisance" to the money masters in order to maintain the illusion of freedom. The next day, its business as usual. They recognize that in order to stop the machine, you need civil disobedience to jam the gears. Our problem has been not been that there is civil disobedience, but that there is to much civil obedience.
