President Obama Explains Why He "Did Not Request Permission" To Invade Syria - Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

Last night's airstrikes on ISIS in Syria came as a surprise to some (though apparently not ISIS who local reporters note had time to move weapons and personnel) as President Obama - and his local arab nation allies (acting in support), though notably no Western nations - unleashed hell on Assad's sovereign territory. The first stirrings of responses from Russia have been creeping out and now Israel is involved in the anti-ISIS coalition. The State Department has just confirmed that they did not give advance warning to the Syrian regime. If you are playing along at home, key words include "broad coalition", "Assad still a bad guy", "Vladimir who?", and "not Muslim."

  • *KERRY DID NOT SEND LETTER TO SYRIAN REGIME, PSAKI SAYS
  • *U.S. DID NOT GIVE SYRIA ADVANCE NOTICE AT MILITARY LEVEL: PSAKI
  • *PSAKI SAYS U.S. INFORMED SYRIA OF INTENT TO TAKE ACTION
  • *PSAKI SAYS U.S. DID NOT ASK SYRIAN PERMISSION FOR STRIKES

President Obama is due to speak at 10amET (set your alarm accordingly)

His masters want an ever more imperial presidency so that when Hillary is installed she can get us into a major war with Iran all by herself.

The Unfolding of Yinon’s “Zionist Plan for the Middle East”: The Crisis in Iraq and the Centrality of the National Interest of Israel

Can't have Iran helping the Lebanese defend their territory from Israel now - Israel wants that gas, an water, up to the Litani, at least...

more of the Golan, Sinai maybe...

of course, the dumb American goyim, the fading flower of European Civilization, will be used...  and most will simply accept what they are told, and work half the year to fund the Global Zionist Banking Empire that enslaves them...

Once you accept it is hopeless, ironically, things don't seem so bad.

Lying about striking ISIS while actually striking Assad is a stupid strategy that will blow up in their faces.  There is blowback built into this Course of Action.

This is about the Qatar-Syria gas pipeline.

They should have asked helped the Shia Iraqi's kick ISIS out of Iraq and then get a UN vote for a DMZ manned by UN nations (which would be the same nations today bombing Syria) separating ISIS from Iraq...where the pipeline could 'coincidentally' be built.

And water.  The US will let Israel bomb Syria, so that Assad will be gone.  Then Israel can annex southern Lebanon to the waters of the sweet Litani and solve their number one National Security issue, fresh water.

unfuckingbelieveable...here they are, yet again operating in a country that they have no, zero, none, legal or moral authority to be in.

and somehow Putin is public enemy #1? yeah, he has sent, what is it now, 4 aid shipments and got both sides to almost stop shooting at eachother...

and here Washington is dropping bombs on a country that is already suffering from three years of violence...without the permission or cooperation of the legitiment ruling goverment or the Syrian people?

this is not going to end well...for anybody.

When America and it"s "leaders" are tried for war crimes, will American citizens be tried, as well? Are WE murderers? At what point is it NOT our fault?

Check out some pics of Japan and Germany at the end of WWII.  Not pretty, especially Japan.

That is how the good citizens of a war mongering nation are punished when allowing their leaders to stray.

The u.s founders were right. Standing Armies are a threat to the liberty and peace of all nations. The u.s is now bombing another sovereign nation without any quasi u.n approval. Doesn't matter who we are bombing or why. It's completely against the Law of Nations, and many treaties, and therefore an act of war (again).

The u.s government is lawless at home and abroad and is now the primary threat to world peace and very possibly the annihllation of all life on the planet. The u.s  government, military, two thirds of the nation along with most "western" and ME nations are mad. They act more like a pack of wolves than responsible nations with the u.s and Israel as pack leaders.

The rule of law is over. Respect for other nations, humanity and life itself has ended. This will not be pretty or end well...

Was listening to a "Greens Senator" in Australia on radio today, and despite my passionate dislike of the tree hugging "Greens" political party they had a good point on this occassion.

The bill in debate was in relation to increasing scope for arresting suspected terrorist without warrants etc and further militarizing the Australian Federal police.  He gave an overview that since 9/11 and the start of the war on terror that allied nations have bombed everyone from pakistan, to iraq and everything in between, killed Bin Laden, killed in excess of 150,000 people in a meet fire with fire response to 9/11.

13 years of this continued "war on terror" and we now have a more unstable middle east region, a well organised and more powerful terrorist group than ever existed, whilst removing civil liberties, and increasing the local threat of terrorist attacks.

I'm fully aware the "war on terror" etc is just a cover story/excuse to invade countries that of interest in relation to energy but it does scare me how easily the stuff is sold to the avg citizen and how so few are questioning this madness that has gone for so long.

It is time for the more courageous politicians to speak up.  Question: did that Greens Senator end up voting for the bill?  Sometimes the rhetoric doesn't match the vote (well, I only voted for the bill because it also provided funding for the Children).

No he didn't support the bill, but it would have passed anyway as the 2 major parties were supporting it.

The bill was in response to terrorist threat that was pre-emptively neutralised this week, nicely summed up in the facebook post below.

15 people detained.
800 plus police involved.
25 warrants investigated.
10 vehicles searched.
$630 mil boost in anti-terror funding.

1 Sword found.

I believe the Australian public deserves the right to hear this alleged phone call that has justified all of this.

No problem - the FED prints up a trillion dollars and buys them through Belgium.

If you can print money endlessly - all of the old levers are useless.

That's why no one worries about the debt - nobody can force a default - in the current circumstances.

Funny how the official line is that ISIS is a threat to the US and stability in the ME.

Yet, something more believeable, like the systematic slaughter of Christians, beheading children and putting their heads on sticks, does not come up.

Pretty cool.

This is a piecemeal strategy by the Whitehouse and complicit Republicans:

To allow the president to act unilaterally on war matters, sets precedent for him to grant amnesty in the coming months.

Republicans will pretend to be outraged but won't do anything about it - just like Obamacare.

It's all an inside job.

I am sure that it will be accidental but, even if the US does not attack Assad, those parts that it does hit will be rendered unusable for the near to medium future, that is by the Syrian Government. You know, roads, bridges, dams, power lines etc.

Bit like Eastern Ukraine's infrastructure.

Syria Informed by the US Before Airstrikes Conducted

MOSCOW, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - The United States briefed the Syrian envoy to the UN before it conducted the most recent airstrikes against the Islamic State in Syria, said the Syrian foreign minister on Tuesday, as reported by the AP.

I must be a bit slow, 'did not inform Assad of strikes;, um, everyone in the civilized world knew the air strikes were coming, perhaps the US thinks that Syria does not have an internet connection, bit of a strange one to crow about not telling Syria about strikes but everyone else in the world and think they are not going to know.

Also, why would the Syrian regime complain, the US has taken to bombing Assads enemies, the US has come to help him with its airstrikes, surprised that he would not be out on the balcony waving them on.
