World Proxy War I - Mapping The Foreign Troops Fighting In Syria And Iraq

Tyler Durden's picture

If only a year ago, someone had suggested that World Proxy War I would break out on the territory of what used to be Iraq and Syria, they would be deemed insane and put away in the Marriner Eccles building or some other insane asylum.

And yet, as AFP's latest map shows, as of this moment nearly 20 nations from around the globe have deployed boots on the ground to battle a terrorist threat, which at least according to the people of Iraq, was once again created by the CIA. The biggest wildcard, of course, is how many troops the US itself has deployed, whether in "boots on the ground" of CIA "flip-flops" format, to pursue yet another regional destabilization and localized war, one, however which may just spill over in a violent and quite uncontrollable fashion.

And yes, according to the map below, it is Russia of all countries, that has the largest military presence on the most contested region on planet earth right now.

ISIS is our biggest threat. they are hiding everywhere throughout the united states and are well organized and positioned to attack us anywhere, anytime. also they are well armed and may or may not have nuclear weapons. dont worry though, if you buy stocks, give us your guns, tune into the NFL, and let us significantly ramp up security and NSA spying, then everything will be just fine.

The global monetarists brought about the current world war on December 17, 2010.

Mentioning World War Next, Syria and Russia separated by some very un-Tyleresque periods and paragraph breaks is also problematic, because it is likely to awaken some true believer Orthodox Crusaders with tinfoil armor... then again- ZH is domiciled in Sophia...

Even if you don't buy into long cycle theory or prophecies, it's good to keep up since they have a way of becoming self-fulfilling in certain circumstances

Glad you posted this.Searched for it and did find an article on aol of all places. The money spent is a little more but put into perspective by this part of the article I read.

"India was particularly proud that MOM was developed with homegrown technology and for a bargain price of about $75 million - a cost that Modi quipped was lower than many Hollywood film budgets. By comparison, NASA's much larger Maven mission cost nearly 10 times as much, at $671 million."

Wrong.

Gulf of Tonkin/Nam false flag war was a joint effort, outside UN mandate, organised by USA/South Vietnam puppet state, ostensibly against North Vietnam aggression but in fact against local Viet-Cong popular guerilla movement aided by North Vietnam regulars. ( A bit like East Ukraine today).

IRAQ 2, GWB's war, was similar.

With a coalition of 3 countries outside UN mandate : USA/UK/Spain.

(Remember Azores meeting with a subservient Barroso, then PM of Portugal hosting it in 2003 (GWB, Tony Blair & Aznar). Portugal was the "doormat" but did not participate in the Saddam bashing crusade that followed).

The USa has done this many times, with illegal actions in Guatemala (1954), Iran (1953), Chile (1973) to name only the most obvious covert operations. Many others including Syria 1955, Lebanon 1956 and Pakistan 1956 AND Bay of Pigs Cuba 1961.

A country that does not sign the International Court Tribunal convention-- which it helped create via its Nuremberg 1946 trials of Nazis-- is de facto ABOVE mandates; until it isn't...

But then WHO bells the cat?

Well said R and to your point.

You know it's not going well for the "US government office" if they have to be directly involved with air support and attempting to start another "proxy war" in Ukraine to keep Russia out of Syria.

Meanwhile the bills keep piling up and those "proxies" like all the other mouth(s) have to be fed as the debt machine continues to self-destruct.  Wonder what those mercenaries on the ground are saying to their U.S. handlers.

interesting question. from the gut, I'd say that absence of draft leads to more young men seeking war on foreign shores. but I am a proponent of draft in peacetime - as a form of vaccine - and a proponent of treating undecleared wars as crimes, so probably my view is a tad antiquated

As with your undeclared war thesis, I also agree with your vaccine thesis.  When a country has a draft it tends to focus the mind.  Eliminating the draft made perpetual war possible.  Best thing that ever happened for the military/industrial complex.

This AFP chart is a joke, right?  International Center for the Study of Radicalisation — what a dhimmified group of Brit navel gazers this must be!  Too politically correct i.e., too afraid, to actually use the name of the very enemy of (what used to be) western civilization.  So I will name the enemy — it's Islam of the Qur’an, sunna and hadith codified by Sharia.

The Islamic State could raise larger numbers of mujahideen from those very same countries.  Politically deafened, dumb and blinded to the reality of Islamic State jihad, any coalition soldier to leave camp risks losing a head in tribute to the caliphate.

800 of these jihadi mofos got 30,000 of their American military armed Sunni brothers to vanish from the Mosul area so they could slaughter and expell Kurds and Christians, while western media glanced at the horror, recoiled, and quickly looked away.
