"Disperse Or We Fire"- Hong Kong Police Shoot Tear Gas At Protesting Students: Live Webcast
Yesterday we reported that the biggest riot over the weekend was not in Ferguson (although things there are hardly stable after a local police officer was shot in the violent town overnight) but in Hong Kong, where students and other mostly young people are protesting the recent loss of their democratic vote powers and thus "the loss of their freedom." Since then things have gotten from bad to worse when late last night Hong Kong declared the start of the Occupy Central disobedience campaign, leading to violent skirmishes with the police, which over the past hour have included the use of tear gas by the police as well as the first outright warning by the cops demanding that the student protesters disperse or risk being fired upon.
A standoff between police and pro-democracy protesters intensified near where thousands have converged in the past days to demand free elections.
Around 6 p.m., police moved to clear the area, using tear gas against protesters near Hong Kong government buildings that had been blocked off. Protesters streamed away trying to wave away clouds of smoke and holding handkerchiefs against their mouths and noses. Many were running; others were raising their hands above their heads in an indication of nonviolent intent.
Crowds of thousands had gathered in the area through the afternoon, with protesters attempting to build barricades against police. At one point, a few police cars were surrounded by a sea of protesters. "Hong Kong police, you have been surrounded, please leave," protesters shouted over a sound system.
Police showed red signs urging the activists to stop charging or force would be used. Riot police in helmet shields and face masks were at the site.
After the tear-gas spraying, many protesters who had dispersed regrouped in the Tamar waterfront park where a stage and rows of chairs had been erected ahead of celebrations for China's National Day on Wednesday.
After spending hours holding the protesters at bay, police lobbed canisters of tear gas into the crowd on Sunday evening. The searing fumes sent protesters fleeing down the road, but many came right back to continue their demonstration.
Students and activists have been camped out on the streets outside the government complex all weekend. Students started the rally, but by early Sunday leaders of the broader Occupy Central civil disobedience movement said they were joining them to kick-start a long-threatened mass sit-in to demand an election for Hong Kong's leader without Beijing's interference.
Authorities launched their crackdown after the protest spiraled into an extraordinary scene of chaos as the protesters jammed a busy road and clashed with officers wielding pepper spray.
The protesters were trying tried to reach a mass sit-in being held outside government headquarters to demand Beijing grant genuine democratic reforms to the former British colony.
The demonstrations - which Beijing called "illegal" - were a rare scene of disorder in the Asian financial hub, and highlighted authorities' inability to get a grip on the public discontent over Beijing's tightening grip on the city. The protesters reject Beijing's recent decision to restrict voting reforms for the first-ever elections to choose Hong Kong's leader, promised for 2017.
Earlier Sunday, thousands of protesters who tried to join the sit-in breached a police cordon, spilling out onto a busy highway and causing traffic to come to a standstill. Police officers in a buffer zone manned barricades and doused the protesters with pepper spray carried in backpacks. The demonstrators, who tried at one point to rip apart metal barricades, carried umbrellas to deflect the spray by the police, who were wearing helmets and respirators.
Police had told those involved in what they also call an illegal gathering to leave the scene as soon as possible, warning that otherwise they would begin to clear the area and make arrests.
The use of the tear gas angered the protesters, who chanted "Shame on C.Y. Leung" after it was used, referring to the city's deeply unpopular Beijing-backed leader, Leung Chun-ying. To many, it also seemed to mark a major shift for Hong Kong, whose residents have long felt their city stood apart from mainland China thanks to its guaranteed civil liberties and separate legal and financial systems.
The following warning from the local police urging protesters to disperse or "they will fire" has attracted a lof attention:

Freedom just rocks...
Monkey see, monkey do.
AND what are they protesting. Loss of Democratic voting power.....Stupid fucks, they never have and never will have any power, let alone democratic. The government brought you in from the rice patties they can send you back.
What? They are not protesting 'loss of Democratic power' they are protesting that they were promised to HAVE a vote over the choice over CE. Catch up and 'paddys' no longer occupy the voters. No one will be sent back without a fight.
Silly students confuse voting with freedom. How quaint.
No confusion. If you never had a vote over the direction of your community then get back to us.
OK maybe you are being sarcastic. I have quickly lost my tolerance over the dissembling and agenda driven comments here.

Charles de Gaulle had a simlar experience in 1968
“...At the same time, he strongly opposed the global economic dictate of US currency, insisting on establishing the golden standard as the base of international economic relations.
De Gaulle's efforts were deliberately undermined by the architects of dollar-based globalization. The student movement in Paris started, without any significant domestic social reasons, literally a month after the meeting of Bilderberg Club where Baron Edmond de Rothschild and leading CIA strategist, rabid anticommunist James Jesus Angleton launched a far-reaching scenario of destabilization of Europe, instrumentalizing an ambitious George Pompidou for a political change in France that should be fairly recognized as a sophisticated coup d'etat. ...”

So the question to which we all want to know the answer -
Is China going to take reprisals on the economic front for being behind today's events?

Last night, peaceful protesters in HK were shot at with tear gas and attacked with batons by the police, in an attempt to dispearse the 'illegal' crowd.

Pinto Currency, thanks for the info.
Someone just mentioned to me that the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 just be rolled on not long after the hand-over of HK to China. That crisis was meant to shake up the Chinese takeover of HK.
You will notice that many posts are a sentence, sometimes a sentence fragment. Folks with something to say usually spend the time to write about a paraphragh, sometimes more. Then there are the cut-and-paste monkeys who you may find posting almost identical shit across treads over time.
So, yep, it has definately gone down hill but this has been a long term trend.
I think when ZH started in the blogspot days, it was fairly exclusive to folks that had some involvement with finance, banking, and investing. As ZH became more mainstream, this dilluted the "talent pool" of readers. This trend just continues.
I think more and more, as the comments go to hell, folks just post less often and are less willing to engage in dialouges. Sometimes the snark and sarcasm is funny, but usually it is tired or just dumb.
Also, people tend to drink and post more on the weekends, so there is that too.
Regards,
Cooter
Mr. Cooter, there also isn't as much to talk about as there was even two years ago. The same messages have been beaten to death, yet nothing has changed.
Many of us who used to post longer, more meaningful posts, have lost interest as the time investment in saying something that has already been said and forgotten is not worth as much as enjoying the passage of time playing music or exercising your mind and body - anything to make the universe hear your song.
Of course you have the indefatigable commenters like Radical Marijuana and honestann, whose insight is verbose and representative of the truth.
In my opinion, the caliber of authorship has significantly dropped. Old Tylers of better investigative and editorial persusasions have long gone, and new Tylers sometimes don't even check the content of their re-posted-from-somewhere-else articles before plopping on a scary title and passing it on to us fools. And fools we are.
Like that "people are getting their cash seized at the Canadian border" article. No fucking mention of Canada in the WaPo source. I mean - with that kind of reporting, how can you expect an intelligent "talent pool" or readers to show up anymore?
The Global Financial Crisis occurred in 2008. Experts across the ideological spectrum had been predicting such an event for several years, and the crash vindicated their analysis.
It's been six years since then. Those experts and many more have predicted other dire events, like Greece leaving the Euro, interest rates rising, gold busting to the moon, housing crashing again, another flash crash, derivatives blowing up, municipal bonds falling over, etc. Yet none of those things have happened. This Potemkin village is held together with duct tape and twine underneath, but on the surface, everything appears fine.
Six years is a long time to sit around talking about things that *should* be happening, but *aren't*, because of X,Y,Z (be it crooked bankers, crooked government, crooked media, crooked algos, etc). If some long-time posters need to take time off for mental clarity, more power to them.
Until something really significant happens, we're going to keep getting Michael Snyder lists and Phoenix Capital Research advertisements.
"Voting" doesn't give you any say in the direction of your community. What am I missing Apostate2?
If you never had a vote you might understand. When elections were allowed for Legco people at the grassroots local people had a chance to vet candidates to represent their districts. Not perfect but if their elected member failed them they had a chance to replace him or her. This is a far cry from imposed rule chosen by gov from the rich and connected--the so-called Leading and Light. Thus elections do matter. To direct your community you need to be engaged enough to chose someone (who is willing to serve) who will steward your district.
Apostate2 I don't know where you live but in my country I can vote for the blue team or the red team but it doesn't matter who wins they are both controlled and financed by the same people at the top. Most of the western world is this way or has some variation of this system (here in Canada we actually get a third choice an orange team as well as red or blue) that is why many posters here are negative towards the protestors, because sure we can vote but its all a sham/scam anyway.
What is the alternative Global Hunter? If what you say is true then what do you propose to do about it?

None of our Politician's every really have an answer to simpler questions and it does not stop any of them standing up pointing fingers, stating issues so I dont see a need for anyone else to come forward here and offer an answer to your question. Basically what you're saying is, don't complain unless you've got a solution that everyone accepts and is workable for any problem - fxxx that.
at least they've got the balls to stand up to the tyrants trying to take over their country. unlike my fellow americans, who sit back and melt into their tv dramas and super sized fast food meals while chanting USA, all the while thinking they're some type of badass patriot.

"at least they've got the balls to stand up to the tyrants trying to take over their country. unlike my fellow americans, who sit back and melt into their tv dramas and super sized fast food meals while chanting USA, all the while thinking they're some type of badass patriot."
So are you volunteering to lead up the resistance, or are you just sitting there typing away while eating a super sized fast food meal and thinking you are a badass renegade?
rarely watch tv, dont eat fast food, dont live in america, and dont pay taxes to the criminal us government. so while im not leading the resistence im certainly doing my best to live outside the system. also i took all of my money out of US banks, have zero debt, and stack as much as possible.
year after year after year i've been watching stupid fucks come togeher like livestock.
it is remarkeable that even in china where mao tzedung was revered people forget his famous quote; all politicial power comes from a gun barrel.
if you cannot shut down the subways and infrastructure used by the police by 'peaceful' sit ins and blockades-----then you will be shot by them if they can shoot you.
the only thing that stops the police is the threat of not getting paid ( so they consider switching sides ) , or the threat of such superior numbers of protesters that they are so totally outnumbered they will run out of ammunition before the remaining crowd can tear them to pieces. the numbers are rarely that mismatched.
a well trained group of riot police can control a crowd of unruly BUT UNARMED protesters in a ratio of one police for every 50 protesters . yes. 50 PROTESTERS.
when you look at a peaceful new york city parade like the thanksgiving day parade, you have 1 million people streched out over the parade and maybe 10,000 cops. thats 100 to one and the cops are totally unprepared for violence. that is a disaster.
but if the cops have full riot gear and are well PREPARED. 50 to 1 is actually doable.
the power of the unarmed crowd comes from its disorderliness and mass swarm effect. the power of the police is like a pack of killer whales working together with superior intelligence information coordination skills and---of course---weaponry.
in general--------most protesters are useful idiots who don't even give thought to this idea, but just mindless put themselves at the disposal of whoever is actually organizing the protest.
much of the time, the people backing funding and secretly promoting the protests aren't even the 'public' organizers. protesters are useful idiot livestock most of the time.
And don't forget, Obama and the former puppets are selling America and Europe to the same country that just decided democracy is just a troubling thing that should be erased.
Their own or every other country in the world?
That's the problem, freedom does not exist in todays world, regardless of country. Only varying(always high) degrees of oppression.
CIA china getting too friendly with russkies
And again it will be up to the police.. which as usual lack of knowledge and balls.
This is very serious. All other protests--Tiananmen, Article 64 and so on have been handled peacefully and with circumspection. This is diifferent. Even the Police do not want to push the protesters. This can be laid on the door of CY Leung showing himself to be a running dog of a CCP scared of losing control. They are losing legitimacy by this and will not be able to get it back. Even Xiaoping would be spinning in his grave.
I can report there are lots of pissed off people in the local neighborhoods.

William: Can I assume it's happening on HK Island?? Or is it in Kowloon??
It is happening in Admiralty which is HK side.
And I was just shown a FB video of military armored personnel vehicles moving about Kowloon.
Remember back in Oct 2012 the PLA garrison in the NT held exercises fighting in 'unknown' terrain--i.e. HK.
'The PLA built a Hong Kong street scene and simulated a street war. On the streets, there are Heng Seng Bank, HSBC and businesses that are familiar to Hongkongers. Shop signs are all in traditional Chinese. Soldiers even yelled in Cantonese, “You are surrounded. Put down your weapon quickly.' according to the Ming Pao and CCTV.
If CY calls in the PLA then all bets are lost. No one will support this.
Thanks man. Keep clear of the guns (!)
Sounds like a good time to take a harbour tour on a junk. ;-)
Can you epxlain in what sense Tianemen was handled peacefully?
Also, this is very different becasue it is in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a world apart from the PRC in terms of the attitude and expectations of the people. If the PRC has to roll tanks into HK to quell the protests, it will be a failure of the highest order and the beginning of the end of the PRC.
June 4 1989 million people march in HK protesting the Tiananmen massacre.
Remember Tiananmen Square!
peaceful citizens with stingers and gun weapons, yes we remember it.
STFU. You POS
Tanks in the street
"Get back on the sidewalk!" ;-)
Not to diminish the significance of the event at all, but owing to demographic differences, this will never turn into LA, New Orleans, or Ferguson.
Oh yes, I noticed. No looting, no burning buildings.
I like the disrespecting of "authority" idea just not sure if lying in the street waiting to be crushed by tanks is the way to go.
To each his own I guess ;-)
>Oh yes, I noticed. No looting, no burning buildings.
Wait some more days.. I already saw cardboard boxes with bottles in stream
No you haven't. Fraud.
trolls are so stupid now.
Yes you are stupid.
Well, I'm not sure I know enough about what they're actually protesting to make an informed comment. Like a lot of things there are cross currents.
But as I understand it, the Chi-Coms blocked Hong Kong's people from choosing their own leaders and said to the people of Hong Kong you will choose from among three candidates chosen for you by Peking, so there's the choices you have.
Choose wisely ;-)
Yeah somehow you got the idea. The screening of candidate is nothing democratic. The worst of all is that the newly elected will have the mandate of the miliion votes.
Better they should only get
to choose between TWO candidates,
the US way.
lol...well, three makes it seem like they actually have more choice, moar choice is good thing, yes?!?!? Hell, if they had ten handpicked party Chi-Com's, why, that would be even better!
Not saying better for who, of course ;-)
How progressive! In the US they only get to choose between 2 candidates chosen for them.
Early days.
Lets see where it goes.
Time to thin the herd. Too many people anyway.

Beijing can kiss Taiwan goodby when those people see this on TV. They are not anxious to give up their rights and be rules by a bunch of old megalomaniac farts from across the Straits.
It did not stop Chairman Xi from touting "One country two systems" to a group of visiting Taiwanese the day after he met with the Hong Kong elites. Taiwan says no thanks.

I was there Hong Kong two weeks ago. Saw lot's of kids wearing inforwars.com t shirts. Also many other anti China stuff. From Thiland where I live, looks like Aisa is ready to blow the property bubble it has created. Hold on for the ride.....
I do see the end of centralization and globalization, coming. I think culture and tradition is re-emerging along with economic/energy forces breaking it up. I sincerely hope everyone will succeed in making the peaceful transition to more decentralized, distributed systems. For the USA, I don't think it will be possible without alot of blood and war, but I hold out hope for other areas and wish the protesters in HK the best. Interesting comment about the infowars t-shirts. =)

The complexities of this world are crying out for a simple solution and unfortunately the simplest solution of them all is war. It's not a permanent solution but it is a sobering one.
I say we all take a moment to thank the UN for their tireless efforts in establishing and implementing Agenda 21. Without them, what kind of overcrowded world would our children be inheriting?

Ahhh despotic chinese rule.....what have the chinese ever contributed other than despotic rule and death of millions? Nothing.
It's always the same thing, back thru thousands of years of history, one despot after another.
Well...I guess the chinese have contributed something......tyranny.
American progressive criminals love them some chinese tyranny.

Well...they do have some MAD wall building SKILZ. Those Chinese finger handcuffs are fun. And we have a really good Chinese take-out place right around the corner from us, but other than that, I totally agree.
Gunpowder. Don't forget gunpowder.
And rockets, rockets are kinda cool ;-)
China would be a great civilisation if we stopped counting in AD1403, and The Enlightenment, Plato, Socrates and Industrial Revolutions never happened.
But they did, so China is just a source of tyranny and has been for millenia.
So tell me about China pre-Mao?
How was China pre-Opium war?
How was China organized as a country?
What Dynasty did we see the most corruption and decline?
You dunno jack!
Now I'm interested. Answer your own questions. Let's debate.
Oh dude, you want to do that with someone else. Really. Find someone else to run you into the ground.
China was always intolerant, Marx and post-Qing had little to do with it. For at least 2400 years, and perhaps longer, considering the first written Chinese script on oracle bones (turtle shells) metioned that the Huji was already a very long standing tradition.
I have lived many years in China, I have a large amount of free time, and I spend it reading about China, learning Chinese, and talking to Chinese citizens.
You want to play? I don't think that you do...
Ho ho
So was America for that matter.
Slavery was permitted in the constitution.
Except for the fact that America wrote all the history about it, the Mass Murder and Destruction of the Native Americans rivals, if not outdoes, anything that Stalin or Hitler did.
So China is intolerant compared to whom? The Swiss? The Eskimos?
Because China doesn't hold a candle to America.
Yeah America was intolerant--- true. And Lincoln did kill 500,000+ Americans.
Only Stalin can beat Mao for the most of his own countrymen killed. America can't even come close.

So glad, Grimaldus, you could come flying in on your broomstick to answer my comment.
I'm an American and only care about how many innocent lives America has taken.
I could give a flying fuck how many lives Stalin, Mao, Hitler, etc. cut short
Speaking of which, how's that penile implant working out for you? Have you gotten many Looky Loos?
No hard feelings, pal.
(But at least it looks bigger)
The difference being that USA society, values, mores and laws allowed for a Reformation and Enlightenment, a changing of the interpretation and legal codes, thus making prior acceptable behaviour currently unacceptable.
Chinese society has never had such an event, and is still in a mindset that can be often accurately described as pre-scientific, feudal, and bronze-age.
That must have been what A. E. Housman meant when he concluded his poem
None of those admirable American attributes you post exist to day, except in the minds of jingoists.

2. you know nothing about China
3. You know nothing about Hong Kong
4. Need I say anymore!
Get your foot out of your mouth. You know nothing about history, HK and China. You liumang.
Of course,
Western colonialism, the opium wars, fascist Japan's invasion,
meddling and militaristic US support for Chiang Kai-shek and Syngman Rhee,
and the current full-spectrum dominance "pivot" to Asia
have not interfered with China's "liberalization".
Nor has such interference hampered progress anywhere else in the world.
Not everybody can be so exceptionally enlightened as US citizens,
at least according to most US citizens.
Maybe USSA can send some drones or Blackwater thugs to take care of the issues. Folks need IPHONES to be happy in HK. Just look at USSA, all are happy taking slefies and sending each other stupid pictures.
Chinese despots don't need American help, they wrote the book on tyranny. You know, the one all the progressive criminals infesting the FEDGOV are reading?
Grimaldus
yeah,
those "progressives" in the Pentagon, DHS,

Progressive are in charge there too. Does not take a rocket scientist to see it.

Ha Ha, made me laugh.

The Chinese learned plenty from US when Kennedy didn't want to invade Vietnam and was assassinated for it.
He was succeeded by Johnson, who ran in 1964 saying he would not send any more American boys there and then 2,700,000 boys went over there.
Yep. The Chinese sure could teach America plenty about tyranny, despotism and old fashioned bullshit (NOT)

"the nightmare has happened again.
A massive manhunt continued today for a suspected antigovernment sniper and survivalist who allegedly gunned down a Pennsylvania state trooper and seriously wounded a second trooper during a shift change on Sept. 12.
It is at least the third deadly ambush of North American police officers by apparent antigovernment extremists since the beginning of the summer. The attacks have left six officers dead from Canada to Las Vegas."

It is too bad, I love HK. Been on vacation there twice. It is a spectacular city. One big designer shopping mall. Absolutely the best baked cheese seafood ever in a small but always packed restaurant just north a little ways from the Sogo department store in causeway bay. Even the deli's in the City Super grocery stores underneath the malls have excellent eats.
Taking the big fast catamaran to Macau was always a treat. I'm a fan of boat rides. Just crossing the harbor in the ferry is cool and there is a cruise ship that leaves just about every day to go out far enough to open the casino on board. The big sucking sound you hear is all the chinese losing money. And even though I always lost money at the sic bo tables I had fun.
Trust the despotic chinese to fuck that up......
Grimaldus
The self-righteous English FUCKED things up in 1839. Or so History tells us.
Or do you think things got UNFUCKED since then and just got REFUCKED now?
As bad as the English were, and they were very bad, the Chinese are orders of magnitude worse.
Dumbass commie Chinese had the evil English success story of HK staring them in the face for how many years before they decided, hey, maybe there is something to it.....
Don't worry, the progressive brits are trying really hard to catch up and impose upon their citizens the same level of tyranny the Chinese do so there is that. Then they will all be equally fucked.
Grimaldus
I'm in HK at the moment and, not surprisingly, the unrest is very much compartmentalized. in other words, everything appears quite normal outside of the small area of conflict.
Beijing won't be budging, in any case.
They certainly won't budge unless stuff like this happens. Power to the people.
Power to the people. YOU DUNNO WHAT THE WORDS MEAN!
ITS POWER TO THE SECONDARY SCHOOL KIDS RIGHT NOW. 98+ ARE SECONDARY SCHOOL KIDS.
Your lucky they didn't try to recruit the KINDERGARTEN babies.
That would be you. Get the dummy out of your mouth you POS. Better yet get your diapered ass down to the protest and make a 'survey' to prove your contention. Don't cry when mommy doesn't pick you up.
How much do they pay you fucking commuist disinformer for posting lies ? In Hong Kong they call jerks like you FIFTY CENTS.
No – they won't be budging even with "stuff like this" happening.
HK is utterly reliant on China. Therefore, no leverage.
No, on the contrary, China relies on Hong Knog.
Hong Kong was once one of the four Aisia four dragons. It did very well at a time when China was still a shit hole. Water supply from China is always an example the commuist/facist like to point their finger at. The truth is Hong Kong survived without supply from China for as long as we know. With current technology Hong Kong could use reverse osmosis to get their own drinking water if the corrupt government let them. However, this would destroy the income the Chinese are getting from forcing Hong Kong to buy exces amount of water , most of which go out to the ocean directly . Hong Kong also is a place for the Chinese governement officials to wash their dirty money. For example, someone was caught depositing 50 millions USD a day into HSBC day after day. She was caught but someone intervent and she was let go. Others are more subtle like buying up properties in Hogn Kong, jacking up the price to the point not even a doctor/lawyer couple can afford decent housing.
If you believe that HK has more leverage than China, you are delusional.
MAIDAN REDUX
Democracy=undesirable. Those students and others should demand that they have sound money and let their yuan appreciate so they can reap the benefits of their hard work instead of the mercantilist policies of the govt that gives real goods and services to America for worthless fiat.
they continue this BS, the adults will come to work tomorrow and slap their arse.
Of course its contained, if they tried this in another town, you would have adult's slapping their naive arse.
THE PEOPLE OF HK ARE NOT REPRESENTED BY THESE SECONDARY SCHOOL KIDS!
Police arrested 70 some people age 16-68. So, fuck you. Get off ZH and go back to mainland China !
I truely do not understand how governments can find people (ie police) to enforce crack downs like this. I mean, if there are that many people protesting, then there must be something fairly obvious that has gone wrong and people are reacting to. If the issue is that fairly obvious, then how can the police not see it as well? So if they can see it how can they stand themselves for following orders to crack down on the protestors?
It's just something I have never understood. Same way, how did Germany find so many guards to kill people? How did Stalin or Mao or the rest of the endless list of dictators?
Can anyone recommend any good reading on the topic?
Read the Protocol of Zion. The whole plot is within that. Banking Cartel/Zionist/Globalist agenda.
When you put this template on top of all the mess in the world you will see everything as clear as day.
Thanks, but I am more refering to the physcology of it all... how can a protester and a cop have such a disconnect when seeing the same issue?
* is a cop doing it just to keep his job because he has to feed his family?
* or is he doing it because he truely gets some sadistic satisfaction out of controlling people?
* or is the cop too stupid and brainwashed to see other wise?
What is the impetus behind why cops will crack down on protestors?
The answer is low IQ combined with good pay/pensions. There is no other equivalent employment for these type of people. Greed always wins over ideology.

And I don't mean astrology, but created reality.
REMEMBER KENT STATE
Oh, but that was different.
The protester/students were going to take over some farm equipment in rural OHIO.
The National Guard took care of them.
* is a cop doing it just to keep his job because he has to feed his family?
That should be at least 50% of the motivation.
* or is he doing it because he truely gets some sadistic satisfaction out of controlling people?
Probably 20%, most cops didn't take the job to be social workers. It's their job to control people.
* or is the cop too stupid and brainwashed to see other wise?
Cops are people, 80% are sheeples.
* What is the impetus behind why cops will crack down on protestors?
The untimate impetus is the desire to go with the flow, flollow the instruction from the top and not rock the boat. After all, 80% are sheeples, 10% are sadistic control freaks, 5% knows but keep theri mouth shut for self preservation and the rest of the 5% who knows and sympathetic will fancy and hope that they can resolve the conflict peacefully. However, hope is not a good strategy, they too will crack heads when things get violent.
Have you ever think about how million of people living in North Korea lost their freedom? I bet you they didn't loss it overnight. It most likely was a death by a thousand cuts and started with a lot of good will and trust to their government for a better future.
In one of the video, a middle aged woman was in tears yelling at the police asking how could they do this to the people. The cop infront of her turned his head and let out a sigh ! He was very obviously upset and know he is on the wrong sdie. (family feeding cop)
On another video, cops rushed the crowds who were standing there with both hands up in the air to signal their non-violence intent.(Sheeple cop)
On another video, a cop grabbed hold a man with one hand and sprayed him with pepper spray with his other hand. (sadistic cop)
There, have I covered all the type of cops you mentioned ?
"There, have I covered all the type of cops you mentioned ?"
No. You left out the 5% who knows better but keep their mouth shut for self preservation, they are likely hiding in the back of the sheeple cops.
If the protesters truly believe in the cause and willing to shed blood, the ones hiding in the back and the one who turned his head and sigh will have no choice but start adminstrating wood shampoo. After a few more days of confrontation, no one will turned head and both sides will be 100% sadistic.
Can you post a link of the video regarding the "family feeding cop"? It'd be nice to watch a brief moment of tenderness no matter how elusive.
If ZHers want to know how easy it is to get "normal" people (not just sadists and psycopaths) to do terrible things then Google "Milgram Experiment". Multiple examples of that experiment in many countries showed how easy it was to get people to commit painful, even potentially deadly, electric shocks on strangers (65% of subjects in the original experiment applied the maximum 400 volts when directed). They could hear the victem scream each time the shock was applied but they obayed the lab coated instructors directions to keep increasing the voltage (the subjects didn't know that the "victim" was not hooked up to live electricity and was faking the pain).
In a similar experiment the subjects could see the victim ( a live puppy) as they applied the shock, the shock was real (but at a fairly harmless level, although the subjects were not told it was harmless). Half the men and ALL THE WOMEN followed orders (women are more likely to obay authority and made great Concentration camp guards)
Similar experiments (Stanford Prison Experiment) have divided subjects up into prisoners and guards with the subjects quickly becoming the roll that they were assigned. The guards quickly became abusive sadists.
For a communist and Confucian based society like China there would be an even higher ingrained trait to follow orders.
The Protocol of Zion is bollocks. Has been proven to be so.
In any event, the masters portrayed therein are far more powerful and all-controlling.
how's it bullocks. Explain? Before that, are you JEWISH?
A bullock is a male steer, stupid. A bollock, actually two of them, is what's in front of each of your eyes, blinding the view.
You reckon this is about China and Taiwan?
Hop back over the border where you belong.
You think this is about HK, You think Ukraine is about DEMOCRACY? hahahaha. You must be pretty clueless in geo-politics. All the side shows are the pawns in the larger picture/agenda.
If you cannot piece things together and can only the 1+1 maths, maybe you should stick to discussing elementary items as oppose to the larger scale of things and how this fits.
The Banking Cartel want this wedge into HK to cause chaos in China and to scuttle Taiwan. I guess you know very little about China/Taiwan politics.
Protocols of Zion is not bullshit.
Try to discredit myths but just look around you.
Jews dominate the media, the banks and the entire project for NWO is described there.
Hi kike.
There is no disconnect. You have school children being told to protest for so called DEMOCRACY (we all know how well that went for Iraq, Afghan, Egypt, Libya etc.) and cheered on by the motto of "once in a life time opportunity" by the criminal organizers. Police are there to keep law and order (HK is a society that has international level law and order as its based on English law).
DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM have been used by the banking cartel for over 100 yrs to instill war, strife, chaos, blood-shed and social disunity. If people just open their eyes you see the results as I stated above, you would not be so eager. HK is already extremely free. Its basically New York in Asia.
The reason I told you to read the "Protocols of Zion"is that it explains how they use these words such as DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM etc to enslave the masses. The whole plot is outlined in the protocols.

thanks, - actually I have this in my stack of "to read" - guess I need to move it higher up the list.
You don't need to read a book to understand why people (the police) will crackdown on their own people (the citizens). It's simple good old divide and conquer tactic. The government gives 10% of the population with benefits and pensions. That 10% will automatically becomes government dogs, 80% are sheeples who can be easily placated with empty promises and are too busy to stay afloat to pay attention, 5% who knows better will be intimidated and keep their mouth shut and the rest of the 5% who knows will be classified as extremists, domestic terrorists, ect.....
In any profit-vs-people wars, profit always has the upper hand in the course of human history. People are stupid because this time is not different.
You are looking at SCHOOL KIDS HERE. Everyone else is sitting at home watching this clown show!
This is not school kids or a clown show, you dick. The reason Governments do shit like this is because of general people apathy, like what you are displaying.
ARE YOU IN HK. I'M HERE RIGHT NOW. MY BUSINESS IS HERE. YOU ARE TELLING ME I DUNNO WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MY BACK YARD. MORON!
I'm here moron and if you read the Chinese press, oh my, even go and see what is happening on the ground, or know that for every person out there are family who are going to be pissed than you are a western POS. Try searching Weibo if you actually are Chinese. All censored. This time is different. And, yeah Mr POS who says he is 'wealthy', maybe your 'arse' will be spanked. Amend that, you are spanking your own arse-pimen.
Yes, oh-smart one. Clearly you have no idea.
Look at:
http://hongkong.coconuts.co/2014/09/28/video-live-feed-occupy-central-de...
and show me the children.
Are you employed by Beijing by any chance?
And yes, I speak Cantonese. Madarin too. I also happen to speak English properly.
Us expat morons made HK the way it is, prosperous and an envy. Do you forget it was us that got you out of the mire that was southern China in the first place. You'd all be living like monkeys in Shenzhen. We also got you the Basic Law in the first place, but would I expect you even to know that, let alone read it. It's you dicks that have screwed it up, sitting around playing on your iphones, sorry Samsung's.
US made HK wealthy!!! WHAT A CLUELESS MORON!
Clearly vyeung has only a basic grasp of the English language. Us (as in we foreigners) is not the same as US (United States) and in HKs case mostly means British. BTW you claim to have a business in HK, any businessman in HK with a sucessful enterprise normally has a better grasp of the English language. Did you arrive recently from Peking?
hahahaha - you got us the basic law. WHAT A FARK HEAD! Next thing you will say you are OBOZO's Cousin and then Bushes anus and Blairs Penis and Yellen's granny cruch. Man do we have some MORONIC posters here on ZH. Nice sight, very rare.
You are one of the mainland thug sent to Hong Kong.
