American Ebola News Wrap: Up To 100 Potential Cases In Texas, 1 In Hawaii

Tyler Durden's picture

UPDATE: TEXAS HEALTH OFFICIALS INCREASE NUMBER OF POSSIBLE CONTACTS OF EBOLA VICTIM TO 100

Despite promises by all asunder that any Ebola epidemic in America will be "contained" the dreadful news this morning appears to confirm this is not the case. From one patient, Eric Duncan, just 2 days ago, to 4 schools and 18 people yesterday (according to Texas Governor Rick Perry) to today where NBC News has confirmed with the Dallas county health and human services that 80 people came into contact with the Dallas Ebola patient or his family (including 12-18 direct). The ambulance workers are also under close watch after Duncan vomited on the ground outside an apartment complex as he was bundled into an ambulance. In addition, CBS is reporting one possible Ebola patient in isolation in Hawaii. Contained? Perhaps it is time to rethink the ethics of disease control once again.

After being sent home by a Dallas hospital,

The Dallas patient had initially sought treatment at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital late last Thursday and was sent home with antibiotics rather than being observed further, even though he told a nurse he had recently returned from West Africa. By Sunday, he needed an ambulance to return to the same hospital, where he was admitted.

A nurse asked about the travel as part of a triage checklist and was told about it. “Regretfully, that information was not fully communicated throughout the full teams. As a result, the full import of that information wasn’t factored into the full decision making,” Texas hospital official Mark Lester said.

Duncan rapidly fell ill...

Two days after he was sent home from a Dallas hospital, the man who is the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the United States was seen vomiting on the ground outside an apartment complex as he was bundled into an ambulance.

"His whole family was screaming. He got outside and he was throwing up all over the place," resident Mesud Osmanovic, 21, said on Wednesday, describing the chaotic scene before the man was admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday where he is in serious condition.

Duncan's family took action...

That was the day "I called CDC to get some actions taken, because I was concerned for his life and he wasn't getting the appropriate care," Duncan's nephew, Josephus Weeks, told NBC News on Wednesday night. "I feared other people might also get infected if he wasn't taken care of, and so I called them to ask them why is it a patient that might be suspected of this disease was not getting appropriate care?"

Weeks added that he hoped "nobody else got infected because of a mistake that was made."

Which has led to...

NBC has confirmed with the Dallas county health and human services that 80 people came into contact with the Dallas Ebola patient or his family.

Director Zachary Thompson said these 80 people were not in close contact, but they did have some kind of contact with or exposure to the patient.

Separately, Texas health officials have ordered four family members who had contact with the Dallas Ebola patient to stay home and not have visitors to prevent the potential spread of disease.

The order, hand delivered to Thomas Eric Duncan's relatives Wednesday night by Texas Department of Health Services officials, legally requires the family to comply until at least Oct. 19, when the incubation period has passed and the family is no longer at risk of having the disease.

And then there is this....

* * *

As we noted previously, it is perhaps time to discuss the ethics of disease control a little more broadly before the totalitarian weight of government comes to bear.

I told everyone, as many already realized, that the CDC "contained"
press conference, as well as the one perpetuated by RINO Rick Perry yesterday, were full of total, unmitigated bullshit.

Unfortunately, the hard facts of math & exponential replicatory mutations of opportunistic viruses point to an ominous path ahead regarding Ebola and any densely populated areas it has begun to affect, developing world and developed world alike.

I also stated (admittedly based on another person's calculations, which I cited to) that there's a greater than 50% chance that the real "Patient Zero" on the Dallas bound flight is still out there, yet to be diagnosed, treated or quarantined.

The burning question now in Big D that people apparently forgot to ask up-front: who cleaned up Patient Zero's projectile vomit he spewed all over the parking lot and EMTs while they were getting him loaded into the ambulance, and what exactly did they do with the cleaning supplies they used?

Thu, 10/02/2014 - 11:29 | 5280127 Save_America1st
Save_America1st's picture

that fucker should have been arrested for purposely knowing he was sick and flying back into America.  Doesn't say much for whatever is supposed to be called border "security" or airline security though, does it?  Just proves that DHS, TSA, and all the other government douchebag organizations are run by traitors who really just want to use their power and personell against the American people...not to help them in any way.  How else can they justify wide open borders and inbound flights from Ebola-stricken African countries, yet if I want to fly I have to be violated by some TSA scumbag "for my safety from the big bad terrorists.".  Fuck...the biggest terror organization in the world is the U.S. fucking government and their scumbag agencies.

And regarding Ebola...hate to say this, but it seems the reason this thing is spreading is because they're using too many people to try and save the victims.  This just prolongs the time that someone who is going to die anyway can lay around coughing and excreting other infected body fluids which spreads it faster to healthy people in contact with them.

I would think a disease that kills this quickly and is so contageous should burn itself out fast if you just quarantine the areas and let the people die.  Yeah, that sounds bad and all, but it would burn out right away and would save many more lives in the long run...in my opinion.  Plus people wouldn't be able to get out and travel to other areas while infected and spread the damn thing like they're doing now.

That guy should have been locked down back in Liberia to die right away and never allowed to get on a fucking jet to fly to America.  What the fuck's up with that???  Why in the hell, in the middle of the biggest outbreak of fucking Ebola of all things would the American government allow people to travel to America from any of these African countries???

That's either straight up treason with deadly intentions or the worst example of incompetence in the history of all government incompetence.  And I'm thinkin' it's more of the nefarious nature and they wanted this shit to happen in order to create chaos and crisis which is the typical M.O. of treasonous, government scumbags.

What if one of these infected people were one of those fuckers who jumped the White House fence and got inside the front door????  Sounds like it would be easy enough to happen given that anyone infected with anything can get into the country and be transported anywhere they want for free by our very own fucking government, right??!!!

If they want to let these people into our country then the fucktards in D.C. should get to see them up close and personal and see how they like being face to face with Ebola.  I've got a bad feeling the next thing they'll throw at us will be more restrictions and/or mandatory bullshit vaccinations that will make even more people sick and/or deader than a hammer.  Next thing you know we won't be able to work or travel in the U.S. unless we get stuck with a needle full of some experimental Ebola juice.

FUCK THAT!

In fact, that's what they used to do in .. Africa! If someone got sick and died, and then someone else near him got sick, they would wall the second person up in a hut, and just pass food and water through a hole in the door. If the guy was still alive after two weeks, OK; if he didn't come out, they burned the hut to the ground. Brutal, but effective.

Meanwhile (according to this blog) over in Sierra Leone:

*KAILAHUN HAS ZERO EBOLA CASES ACCORDING TO LATEST UPDATE FROM SIERRA LEONE

*KENEMA HAS VERY FEW EBOLA CASES

*KAILAHUN AND KENEMA ACCOUNTED FOR 479 OR 85% OF ALL THE EBOLA DEATHS IN SIERRA LEONE BETWEEN MAY 23 AND SEPTEMBER 24

Hmmm... odd, considering tha's precisely where the Sierra Leone outbreaks started. Kenema has a big government hospital that does a lot of U.S. pharma 'research' and Kailahun is some backwater dump that fell victim to the Gates/Soros gift of free vaccinations.

*DRAMATIC DROP IN EBOLA CASES FUELS FEARS THAT KENEMA AND KAILAHUN EBOLA DEATHS WERE CAUSED BY FALSE EBOLA DIAGNOSIS BY US BIOWEAPONS SCIENTISTS

*SIERRA LEONE BARRED TULANE UNIVERSITY FROM CONDUCTING EBOLA TESTS IN KENEMA IN JULY

That only goes to show you: never ask a US bioweapon scientists to figure out what is making you sick. At least those Tulane illegal human research bastards will become infected, won't they? Karma and all...

*TULANE UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR AND DIRECTOR OF A US NAVAL MEDICAL RESEARCH FACILITY DANIEL BAUSCH LEFT KENEMA JUST HOURS BEFORE SIERRA LEONE DOCTOR SHOWED FATAL EBOLA SYMPTOMS

*IN SPITE OF CLOSE CONTACT WITH DR SHEIK UMAR KHAN, BAUSCH WAS NEVER SUSPECTED OF HAVING EBOLA OR QUARANTINED

WTF?? The late Dr. Khan ran the Lassa fever treatment center at the Kenema research facility in Sierra Leone. Lassa fever is another more-contagious filovirus and is endemic to Sierra Leone. In fact, some of the U.S. ebola bioweapons 'research' lately involved experiments where genetic material from ebola was inserted in the Lassa Fever viral envelope to make it spread easier. I guess we can say that the Tulane/AMMRID exeriments were a resounding success.

Dr. Khan wasn't the kind to take care of Lassa fever patients the last decade without industrial-strength PPE. Yet the doctor and a few of his experienced nurses mysteriously succumb to ebola almost at the same time while Bausch scurries back to the states completely healthy? What are the odds? Sounds like the U.S. sent in the 'cleaners' to tidy up.

*UK MILITARY TO SET UP AN EBOLA TREATMENT CENTRE IN KENEMA: WILL EBOLA CASES SKYROCKET AGAIN?

Probably not. The 'experiment' got out of control and the researchers are dead or bailed out. The new UK center is just for left-over victim housekeeping, but will be credited on CNN/NYT (or The Guardian in ths case) with 'eradicating' ebola in Kenema. What MSM will never report is that the ebola outbreak in Kenema stopped around the same time they erased Dr. Khan and staff. The residents burned down the research facility in anger and spooks like Bausch scurried back to their evil lairs. Suddenly, no ebola! It's a God damn miracle, I tell you!

You sheep think it's a fucking epidemic?  Ok, let's go with that.  You're all doomed to watching your kids' eyes bleed as they gasp out their last labored breath, not a fucking thing you can do about it.

Who said I think it's an epidemic?  I said I'll be worried when there are secondary and tertiary infections.

You have to go back and look through history.  There have been plagues that have wiped out unimaginable numbers of people.  It's happened in the past, it can happen today, with or without your bravado.  Most nasty little bugs aren't going to have the requisite traits to make it as a pandemic, but eventually, given enough tries, one will beat the odds.  That's just the nature of life.  There's no point in uprooting your life until it's on your doorstep.

When it's on your doorstep it's way too fucking late to do anything about it.

And yep, this could be the ultimate "black swan" people have been looking for.

I think I'll stop swimming against the sheep current.  It's hopeless.

If this "ebola" thing is real and out of control like they say it is, then get ready to lose all your rights, then get ready to meet your maker (in a rather agonizing dealth).

That's all I can say.

Good luck sheep.

You bring up a good point fonz, people have been literally bred (through schooling) to believe that they can look up to their government to save them in their time of need.

If they realize that they have to rely on themselves, they will really start to panic.

The panic over this will do more damage than the virus.  From economic slowdown, to every sneeze meaning a doctor must shoot them up with something, things will get bad.

But, although this one might change, you can still say:

Ted Kennedy's car has killed more Americans than Ebola.

And the sad thing is, even though you could argue that government has a role to play here, they're going to fuck it up.  Even if nothing terrible happens, the government will have fucked it up.  Keep your eyes and ears open, go about your life, and if SHTF, understand that you have you and yours to rely on, and assume none else will aid you.

I am also in the minority in the lethality of this bug in a place like the US.

I have studied the immune system, especially how it pertains to nutrition.  You can go a long ways in protecting yourself by simple means. I have done it for years.

Vitamin D is one key element here, which most americans are WAAAAY too deficient.

Duncan's family took action...

"I feared other people might also get infected if he wasn't taken care of, and so I called them to ask them why is it a patient that might be suspected of this disease was not getting appropriate care?"

Weeks added that he hoped "nobody else got infected because of a mistake that was made."

_______________________

The family deserves most of the blame for allowing Duncan to come to Texas if not actually encouraging it. They knew that his village was being ravaged by Ebola and that he was likely infected. Our government shares responsibility for allowing his entry. But this family is going to sue the shit out of that Dallas hospital. and if they live through this, there will be a payday at the end, thank you Jesus.

Ok Dallas/Fort Worth listeners, this one goes out to you from all your friends in Monrovia:

Ebola in Town

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-Eov6gIiqM

I assume it must be crystal clear to absolutely everyone by now that Thomas Eric Duncan knew he was going to become ill and after having seen the Monrovian Hospital situation plus the young woman he helped carry to said hospital and had to help carry back because she was refused admittance due to over-crowding and then Mr. Duncan sees her die and her brothers die as well ... oh there is no question why Mr. Duncan boarded a flight to "visit his sister" in Texas, USA.

Let's get real. He didn't tell the admittance staff at the Texas hospital that he had personally, physically had contact with a full blown Ebola victim who died.

Fuck Mr. Thomas Eric Duncan.

What the fuck is the CDC doing about the infected sheets, clothes, blankets etc left at his sister's apartment after he was taken away by ambulance?

Hospitals are/will be one of the greatests threats to transmitting ebola to the widest possible audience--when/if Ebola goes exponential in U.S., stay the hell away from a hospital.

One would think that infected meat packing plant and other food processing workers could transmit ebola quickly to a wide audience.

A couple of weeks ago I was renovating a hospital gift shop and needed to use the public restroom in the lobby by the main entrance. Immediately noticed that it smelled badly and as I glanced back ftom the urinal noticed that there were puddles of liquid shit everywhere. Running down the wastebasket, all over the sinks and countertops and many puddles scattered around the floor. Do you think the, "low man on the totem pole" janitor charged with cleaning up that mess put on a $1200 Ebola hazmat suit?

About a year ago, I was working in another hospital and got in an elevator to go up to the 7th floor where we were renovating the bathrooms.

There were about 8 poeple on the elevator when a woman hospital worker shrieked, "oh! Oh! Oh lawd no! and shit all over her self.

You could see yellow brown liquid shit staining the backside and down the leg of her white pants. That elevator stunk for two hours later even though only a few droplets made it to the elevator floor.

I think I would have pointed my ass in the corner, dropped my drawers and blasted off on the elevator instead of all over myself.

I'm responding to the above post (way above by now) regarding some dog sticking its nose in the infectious puke-pile left by Mr. Duncan.  Dogs can be asymptomatic carriers of Ebola - ie they can infect without ever showing symptoms.  So one dog gets infected - and as it kisses its owner and shits infected poops all over the place, it can infect other dogs and people.  The problem is that this vector could go undetected for a long time.

We can already see how one infected person can stress our system of quarentine.  Now imagine if dogs become the US version of Fruit Bats.

OK - a dog does not have to be infected by an African dog.  JFC.

Look at is this way:  If Mr. Duncan had a dog at home that licked his face prior to his ambulance ride - it would likely become an asymptomatic carrier of Ebola.  Then it rubs noses with another dog on a walk, or shits outside and another dog sticks its nose in it - and now dog #2 is a carrier that can infect its owner or other dogs.  Lets now say dog #2 goes to the dog park - it can now infect dogs #3 through #35 who go home and infect their families and so-on.

Dogs are a potential vector, just like rats were for the plague or Fruit Bats are for Ebola.

During the 2001-2002 outbreak in Gabon, we observed that several dogs were highly exposed to Ebola virus by eating infected dead animals. To examine whether these animals became infected with Ebola virus, we sampled 439 dogs and screened them by Ebola virus-specific immunoglobulin (Ig) G assay, antigen detection, and viral polymerase chain reaction amplification. Seven (8.9%) of 79 samples from the 2 main towns, 15 (15.2%) of 99 samples from Mekambo, and 40 (25.2%) of 159 samples from villages in the Ebola virus-epidemic area had detectable Ebola virus-IgG, compared to only 2 (2%) of 102 samples from France. Among dogs from villages with both infected animal carcasses and human cases, seroprevalence was 31.8%. A significant positive direct association existed between seroprevalence and the distances to the Ebola virus-epidemic area. This study suggests that dogs can be infected by Ebola virus and that the putative infection is asymptomatic.

Apparently, this guy helped an Ebola patient get to a hospital... Then she was turned away and he helped her get back home, where she died. That was a few days before his flight to TX.

That would put his incubation period at about a week, maybe 8-10 days. That's about right. Unlikely that he caught it on the plane.

Look at the bigger picture as I believe Duncan knew damn well he was infected and was seeking medical care in the US with total disregard to all the people he would infect. As long as the borders are open it will not be contained.

Maybe he did and we will never know.  But his sister opted to call the CDC so there was some discussion about it.  Remember he was familiar with what ebola looks like which the masses here in the US do not.

Yeah, we are asked to assume that the ER nurse and patient were so collossally stupid that

-  she did not ask about his possible Ebole contact before traveling from Liberia

- he did not volunteer the Ebola contact information

- somehow, the Liberia detail was not mentioned to anyone else in the hospital

Can these people actually be this clueless? Maybe. But "Oops!" is not really an acceptable response here, especially for the nurse and hospital!

If they're not as profoundly stupid/oblivious as the official story suggests, then what actually happened?
