Doctor Boards Atlanta Flight In HazMat Suit To Protest "Lying CDC"

Tyler Durden's picture

"If they're not lying, they are grossly incompetent," said Dr. Gil Mobley, a microbiologist and emergency trauma physician from Springfield, Mo. as he checked in and cleared Atlanta airport security wearing a mask, goggles, gloves, boots and a hooded white jumpsuit emblazoned on the back with the words, "CDC is lying!" As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, Mobley says the CDC is "sugar-coating" the risk of the virus spreading in the United States.

As The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports,

A Missouri doctor Thursday morning boarded a plane at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport dressed in full protection gear to protest what he called mismanagement of the crisis by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Gil Mobley checked in and cleared airport security wearing a mask, goggles, gloves, boots and a hooded white jumpsuit emblazoned on the back with the words, “CDC is lying!”

“If they’re not lying, they are grossly incompetent,” said Mobley, a microbiologist and emergency trauma physician from Springfield, Mo.

Mobley said the CDC is “sugar-coating” the risk of the virus spreading in the United States.

“For them to say last week that the likelihood of importing an Ebola case was extremely small was a real bad call,” he said.

“Once this disease consumes every third world country, as surely it will, because they lack the same basic infrastructure as Sierra Leone and Liberia, at that point, we will be importing clusters of Ebola on a daily basis,” Mobley predicted. “That will overwhelm any advanced country’s ability to contain the clusters in isolation and quarantine. That spells bad news.”

Mobley, a Medical College of Georgia graduate who had an overnight layover after flying to Atlanta from Guatemala on Wednesday...

“Yesterday, I came through international customs at the Atlanta airport,” the doctor told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The only question they asked arriving passengers is if they had tobacco or alcohol.”

It seems CDC Director Frieden agrees...

The only truly accurate way to ensure someone isn't running a fever before boarding a flight is to take their temperature rectally. The TSA is already well-qualified and experienced in this arena.

Kirk2NCC1701's picture

During the Avian Flu crisis/scare in 2005-2006, airport security in Hong Kong and Taiwan used IR cameras on tripods, and they looked at the false-color thermal images of people's faces, to spot the one with a fever.  You can set up the SW, to trigger thresholds of (say) 100 deg.F.  You will not want to run to catch that flight, or you and your hot sweaty butt will be detained.

No reason they could not use the same tech in the US.

/ But, alas our "Leaders" and Security people are dumb fucks -- most of whom have jobs only because they were awarded enough "HR points" during recruitment. /sarc

americhinaman's picture

they've been doing that ever since then as well.  it's actually pretty cheap to do... you can get a thermal imaging camera on amazon for (last i checked) a couple hundred bucks with an alarm feature based on temperature thresholds.  even someone snoozing on the job will hear the alarm.

not just HK/Taiwan have this; many other countries with CDC-equivalent institutions and airport security who aren't entirely full of idiots and lazy-government-freerider-"workers".

Yes Alea - but then there's that blood splatter to deal with.

From the News-Gazette:

MONTICELLO — A Champaign tuberculosis patient under a court order to stay home is in jail in Piatt County.

Christian Mbemba Ibanda, 24, of 100 Kenwood Road, C, has been under a Champaign County court order since April 11 to remain confined to his apartment to keep from infecting others with his disease, and a petition for indirect criminal contempt of court for failing to follow court orders was filed against him Thursday.

Deputies arrested Ibanda at his apartment Thursday. At a hearing held at the Piatt County Jail Tuesday with his lawyer present, he denied the allegations. A hearing on the petition has been scheduled for May 5 before Champaign County Associate Judge Chase Leonhard.

Ibanda is incarcerated in Piatt County because its jail has a negative pressure room that doesn’t share the air with other people, according to Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh. Champaign County is paying $50 a day plus medical costs to keep Ibanda in that jail, he said.

In a similar case in 2009, another Champaign TB patient was in court-ordered isolation for about six weeks and, after a year of therapy, he was cured of TB, Pryde said.

At the time, that little asshole was my fucking neighbor!! Call your county jail and ask if they have a negative pressure room.

You really think locking people in cages because they are ill is justified?

Yes, you have to go into the public realm to purchase fuel, food, etc. What you have now is a chance to prep so that you can delay going back into the public realm.

I have to live with a sister who is going on 350lbs, if not 400lbs, who thinks it is perfectly fine to steal food and run around telling everyone I'm a mad prepper (for the yuks, y'know).

So I've got a secondary location I'm starting to stock. I've got a mother to look after who I will not abandon to the sister. I've got a sister to terrorize into understanding that there is shit I will not put up with from her.

And when Mom drops dead, I'm outta there so fast ... ebola or no ebola.

I don't know if I should give up my 2008 Corolla (reliable little beauty is that car) for the RAV4 now, in case I have to trek across the country.

Alea Iactaest's picture

Like free, unfettered travel will remain an option?

Seriously, please think this through.

Toronto Kid's picture

My brother is reliable, but is across the country on the other coast. If I can book outta where I currently am, and get to him, I will do so. The sister is not only unreliable, but in a crisis, will become dangerous.

But let's say me, mom, and the sister weather this well and come out intact on the other side. The country has seen a death toll of 40%, in some areas only 30%. Will getting replacement parts become difficult? Will it be wise to have a newer RAV4, or keep the old Corolla (currently at 185,000km)?

What do I want to get in now that might be hard to get, or impossible to get later on?

El Vaquero's picture

A generator with the plugs so that you can backfeed it into a gas station to pump gas?  If SHTF, and you want real mobility, you gotta have gas.

Toronto Kid's picture

Gotta Goal Zero Escape 150. I need extra fuses for that.

Flagit's picture

Too much noize. Garden hose, screwdriver, bolt cutters, hand pump, container.

If SHTF, and you want real mobility, you gotta have gas.

I am going to disagree. You want Diesel. With Diesel you have access to farm storage tanks, and you can burn cooking grease and....oil. EVERY car on the road is holding 4-6 quarts of go-go juice, even after they are out of gas. Those cars lining the sides of the road are like little coconuts guarding the precious milk inside.

Abbie Normal's picture

There will be a lot of "spare parts" available if the death toll is that high.

Flagit's picture

You are not going to want to hear this, but cut your sister loose.

She will get you killed, and you know it.

Agree, the notion of effective quarantine for the exposed or sick is pure fiction if this thing goes even a little bit geometric.  Where everyone should be focusing is on effective, durable self-quarantine.  Disagree with the premise this is impossible, at least in rural areas where wild game and plants are available.  My family has dried/canned food supplies for several months, and we have the means and access to foraging, hunting, and growing our food.  Further, we've worked our way into the community.  These folks dont travel out-of-state much, and everyone knows everyone.  What will happen is that humans will form the equivalent of 'closed herds' of cows raised for medical collagen.  In a world with Ebola, you dont want to be in close quarters to the infected.  In a small town, isolated, rural scenario, this becomes less of problem, just like serial monogamy reduces the risk of STD transmission.

Alea Iactaest's picture

Thoughtful response, thanks. As to your comment, "Disagree with the premise this is impossible, at least in rural areas where wild game and plants are available" you should review history of Spanish Flu. Every part of the globe was touched, and that was in an age without air travel.

Also review the history of the black plague in Europe as the elite holed up for years to avoid contact, yet many succumbed upon venturing back into the towns as pockets of disease remained.

Total avoidance, for the rest of your life, is a daunting logistical problem.

long-shorty's picture

"Go buy your hazmat suit and respirator. It won't make any difference."

That is a nice philosophical thought, and it is actually literally true.

If ebola is spread by droplets (hint: it is in animals, so it probably is in humans to), then you would need a simple fasemask (i.e. droplet precautions); adding a "respirator" (which is used for airborne precautions) will indeed not make any difference. Droplets and airborne each have a distinct meaning when it comes to precautions, and that meaning seems to be lost on the people who keep talking about ebola "going airborne." Ebola is not airborne; it is spread by droplets.

Ebola is actually not that easy to catch. Do you know how I know for certain? Because there are not tens of thousands of dead bodies on the street in Lagos, Nigeria right now. Ebola landed in a place more crowded than NYC, with much worse health infrastructure, and the world didn't end.

tenpanhandle's picture

You are drawing your conclusions at the very first page of the story.

Overfed's picture

How do we know that there aren't thousands of dead bodies all over the streets of various African cities? I sure as fuck don't know that for fact. What I do know for fact is that the US government and their totally owned media dole out truth the way a Kosher butcher doles out pork sausages and shellfish.

Dr. Frieden is a dual citizen.

Do not attribute to incompetence what can adequately be explained by Agenda.

p.s. This level of "Incompetence" (willful incompetence) matches the levels we've seen on 9/11, and the 2008 Crash. Sorry, but I just don't buy this "bungling" stuff. Save that Kool-Aid for the Sheeple.

FWIW...the fucking asshole that has been the ramrod for MANY YEARS of bad, wrong and dangerous Lyme treatment is one Dr. Gary Wormser. Frieden's CDC has been in line with Wormser for a long time.

Sir Edge's picture

Well Lets See... Ok... Is 2 + 2 = ???  -  Is A Blue Bird Blue...

Secretary of State (The USA State Dept) John Kerry is An Israeli American and Dr. Tom Frieden the Head of the CDC is ALSO an Israeli American and together they were the ones who ALLOWED and are ALLOWING Ebola patients to come to the USA instead of those patients being treated in the very good hospitals they have in Africa of which they are a number. The TOP hospitals in Africa are equal to some of the good hospitals in the USA (The TOP Ones)

So It must be just a coincidence... that Kerry and Frieden are allowing them to come here... They know best - WTF ?

and with Secretary of State (The USA State Dept) John Kerry as Israeli American working to leaving our Southern Borders open and allowing untold numbers of illegal immigrants to cross... and with almost ALL Israeli American Congressman and those in the State Dept are PRO Amnesty for illegal immigrants... is this NOT working out well for our country ???

Like Greenspan, Bernanke and Yellen (and Fed VP Stanley Fischer) being Israeli Americans and Fischer being a dual citizen... and we ALL know that the FED, Our Currency and Banking System and Finanaces are rock solid sound.

Israel is totally Kicking Ass and Taking Names ALL over the world... Europe Too... It is amazing to watch... Except that I am a Patriotic American Goy and my ASS is the one being kicked and my Name is being taken... and my country is being destroyed or has been destroyed by a very crafty strategy that does not have a time schedule just a passion behind it.

Kirk2NCC1701's picture

I say partly in jest/sarcasm and part seriously, that if US-bound flights from Central Africa were routed for stopovers in Diego Garcia and Tel Aviv, that not a single case of Ebola would appear in the US.  Guaranteed.

Call it "Offshoring".

Spot on Hobby Farmer.  Ebola is indeed deadly and can be transmitted in the air with a sneeze or a cough.  These people did not get sick by swapping spit.

They got sick inhaling someone elses fluid when in range of a sneeze or cough.  I do not know what the life of the virus is once in the body fluids once someone sneezes but if it is anything like hepatitus we are screwed with a disease like Ebola.

A doctor in the emergency room emplying CDC controls got it along with workers and all the CDC has to say is do not worry.  Please

HobbyFarmer makes some outstanding points, and this morning Carol Cluless on CNN was whining (because that's all she knows other than giving blowjobs to the guy who hired her) "Oh, the family of the Ebola victim has to stay indoors . . .why....why????"

(She'll be forever clueless as her junior highschool biology teacher wouldn't allow her to blow him for a grade.)

Where in the midwest and why?

cheech_wizard's picture

I realize you are replying to someone else, but I too will disappear in the midwest. My home has been designated bugout central for a small group of people. My stepson (ex-Navy corpsman) and I talked about this scenario before. We then talked to some of his ex-marine buddies he knows. They will be heading over as well. All excellent shots. And all of them have a lot of weapons. Oddly enough, the nearby town, is where one of the grandmasters of the KKK lives. They hold rallies there on occasion. Don't think the Klan hasn't thought about this scenario. They have.

Pandemics have ways of not working out for elites.  Even if this were human caused, anything that would knock several billion of us off of this rock would permanently change the power structures on this planet.  The survivors would have been exposed to the threat of death to the point that they are numb to it and their labor would carry enough value that elites would actually have to play ball with them, but they wouldn't have to play ball with the elites.
