Nigerian Traveler Admitted To Washington Hospital With "Ebola-like" Symptoms
Contained?
CNN reports that a Washington-area hospital has admitted a patient with symptoms possibly associated with Ebola, the Howard University Hospital said Friday.
The patient, who was not named, had traveled to Nigeria and upon returning was "presenting with symptoms that could be associated with Ebola," according to hospital spokeswoman Kerry-Ann Hamilton.
The unidentified patient is listed in stable condition, according to Kerry-Ann Hamilton, a spokesperson for the hospital.
The hospital released the following statement:
We can confirm that a patient has been admitted to Howard University Hospital in stable condition, following travel to Nigeria and presenting with symptoms that could be associated with Ebola.
In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient.
Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health.

God, yes it's D.C.. The worst part is that it is Howard U Hospital. I went there for stitches for a work related injury and the fucking place had no sutures. I had to drive to Holy Cross Hospital out in Silver Spring, MD to get stitches (I was suspicious that I couldn't get treated because I was the wrong hue). Howard is a fucking mess!
I have been all over that campus and the medical college is so hideous you would not believe. Human remains neglected and leaking all over the place. Now they have to deal with ebola.
Upside: The country is saved because all the senators and congress critters will be dead soon.

That strategy wouldn't even win the last war (or address the existing ebola case in the US) where the infected transited through Europe. The only way it could work is to actually seal ALL US borders (land, sea and air) and not allow ANYONE in (or out with any right of return) - the rest of the world might actually thank the USSA for such a maneuver if it kept the agents of death in their barracks, but securing the borders is sort of a non-starter.
If they travelled from or through (insert African Contry) it will say it on your passport.
Pretty simple, if you see a bloody stamp, you go over here to be flung out in the ocean with a trebuchet or some shit like that.

Agreed. Anyone with a stamp on their passport from ANY country in Africa in the past 30 days gets denied entrance to the USA. Fairly simple actually. But that merely delays the inevitable, it doesn't win and doesn't facilitate survival over the intermediate/long term. If any infected person from Africa crosses paths in a transportation or accommodation hub overseas and infects some white person with no West African stamp in their passport, then the ebola still gets in, and CPB is still of a bunch of hapless incompetents that couldn't find their ass with both hands.
I don't see how one wins without 1) taking the idiots out of the equation by 2) locking down the borders to buy time and 3) with that time sending a fuck ton of people on a one-way (until victorious) trip to defeat ebola overseas.
Short of that, one might as well roll the dice and infect themselves with ebola now if the are in the US, while the healthcare infrastructure is still functional and relatively significant resources can be devoted to single cases.
It does not delay the inevitible. It can interrupt the expansion of this outbreak. This is not a new disease.
